Hello all. I'm new here :)

I have N6288 with V6.10 and I want to install new software - V6.43. But my phone product code is the same as V6.43:
0541928 06.43 RM-78_6288_EURO-E
So we use NSS only for changing product code? The problem is that I don't need to change my product code cause it is the same as the newer software version. I though that then I just need to use only NSU. But NSU is saying that I have the newest software version - V6.10.
Sho how do I need to install V6.43? :confused:

I have tried this product code (0517773), it is version 6.03.40 but is EURO. I need it in APAC coz i need chinese language support.

Please advice. Thanks in advance.

Any time I have changed a product code with NSS and then reattempted the Nokia Updater tool it says the version is the same but I can elect to reinstall if I wish, and then that changes the language/etc when reflashing the same version onto the handset ...

I have already got a working product code for EURO. Now I need a product code in APAC that is version 6.03.40.

I have already tried the product code that is supplied. In fact it is the same as what I already have. I have seen others nokia 6630 with v6.03.40 but they did not give me the product code. I have tested all the product code but only 0517773 is version 6.03.40 while others are version 6.03.08.

If I dont need the chinese character support, I would have already used 0517773 for my phone but I really need chinese support.

Anyway I really appreciate all of you all help. I thank you all again. I hope you can supply me with a real 6630 RM-1 APAC Music Edition v.7.00 MCU 6.03.40 product code.

HI! I have another question. Can we change the product code of Nokia 6630 to Nokia 6680 or 6681 product code so that the NSU will update the software of 6680 or 6681 in to 6630?

As you all know Nokia 6630 doesnt have Active Standby. So if we update the firmware to 6680 or 6681 it will make 6630 have Active Standby.

Or has anyone heard of modding nokia 6630 firmware so that it will have Active Standby?

Actually, I really wanted to have Active Standby for my nokia 6630.

Got bored so downloaded one of the full APAC firmware packs, these four codes include India according to the "v36" language definitions:

Don't think they are music edition variants but pretty sure they will have the language set you are seeking ...

Hi all,

I'd like to ask your help... I don't understand something... Maybe I make mistakes, but as I read this topic, everyone can successfully debrand their phones and I followed the same steps to do that...

The situation is the following: I have a Vodafone branded NOKIA 6300 with product code: 0551550 Firmware was 4.70 (with Vodafone start logo, vodafone live button, vodafone gprs settings, etc.).
I've successfully modded the PC to 0537626 and successfully updated the SW to V5.50... BUT ! Why does the Vodafone logo, settings, buttons etc stayed Vodafone Live ?
When I changed te code to something else (other brand eg. O2, T-Mobile) the NSU reinstalls the 5.50 SW, but nothing happens.. Vodafone still there.

Is there any advise how to fully debrand or how to use eg. O2 brand if I decide to use that ?

I have updatet my 6300 ti latest firmware 5.52 BEFORE changing the Product Code - And now i haven't got Danish language!

Afterwards I have changed the Product Code, but NSU says I allready have the newest version.

How do i get Danish language back ?

I need some help with my 5300. When I bought it it has 0551729 product code, it was unlocked and software was 5.00. I changed product code to 0537658 (EURO-C UK, Latin, DARK GREY) and updated software to 5.51, but its still T-Mobile branded. Any chance to debrand it?

the simple answer is no. if you update your phone with nsu, it doesn´t care what sim is inside the phone. it always checks the product code and updates the phone with the firmware the product code matches.

I've seen many people asking for the 6120 product code. Since I'm directly interested in the answer, I made a litte search in the internet and I found one that worked perfectly for me.
Mine was branded to Vodafone Italy. I've just managed to unbrand it and and upgrade it from firmware 4.21 to 5.11. Of course, I took the precaution to make a backup first. However, I can tell you that I have lost nothing of my contacts, files, settings including added unsigned applications and modified startup tone! Here's the required information:

Everything was ok with this code product, except that the only language choices both for menu language and writing language are English, Chinese and Philippino!
So, whoever needs another language, don't use this code!

However, I haven't had the chance to test it yet. I changed the code with NSS, but, then, NSU failed to reinstall the firmware. In other words, for the time being, I'm stuck.

Doing this i've faced a problem. The problem is that i've updated the firmware of my 6680 to a firmware that doesn't have my language(Portuguese). But now i've tried to update it with the original codes, but since the firmware version is older NSU does not update my phone. Any sugestion?

Thank you for the useful info... I have done this with my nokia 5700 which is still in 3.27 firmware. everything works perfectly except when the nsu finished downloading the 3.83 firmware, the phone is like flashing it turned black like it is restarting but the connection between pc and the phone is disconnected throu pc suite everytime the phone is like restarting. I dont get the process. I thought its flashing already but it never says the upgrade is successful. instead it will ask me to reconnect the usb cable of my phone to my pc. and when i got it reconnected nothing will happen... it doesn't perform an upgrade or flashing to the firmware. so i disconnect the phone again and checked the firmware version but still my firmware is still the same, nothing upgraded....

pls help me...if anyone have heard of the latest firmware version of nokia 5700 which is 5.11 and whoever made successful upgrade, please let me know... i really need to upgrade my phone so bad....

As you might know, Nokia Software (http://www.symbian-freak.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7993#) Update lets you upgrade your phone's firmware, but it will keep your operator's personalization (and revert to it, even if you flashed the phone to a non-branded firmware with Phoenix before).
ExpertGSM published a new method on a french site (www.forummobiles.com (http://www.forummobiles.com)) in order to "trick" NSU so that the phone's firmware will be upgraded with the latest original Nokia firmware.
Here is the translation I've done for this tutorial - just keep in mind that you have to correctly identify (based on a firmware file for your BB5 phone) the correct product code for your country and phone model.

Here’s a tutorial that will teach you how to update your phone’s firmware to a Nokia original version (without your operator’s personalization) with NSU (Nokia Software Update – the official Nokia program).
NSU reads the product code of your phone and it searches its database (http://www.symbian-freak.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7993#) for a newer version of the corresponding firmware in order to upgrade it. This is why you will need to change the product code of your phone into a non-branded product code, before running NSU.
Download the « NSS » software in order to change the phone’s product code. This is a shareware program that you can download on the site of its author here : http://bphreaks.brinkster.net/files/NSS/NSS10373b.zip (http://bphreaks.brinkster.net/files/NSS/NSS10373b.zip)
After that, download the following program: http://rapidshare.com/files/1236869/Copie_de_gsm-magic.rar.html (http://rapidshare.com/files/1236869/Copie_de_gsm-magic.rar.html) (this is not a crack, but a program that allows the activation of any disabled option on no matter what program).

NOW WE CAN BEGIN:
Install NSS
Install NSU

Open NSS and click on “Scan for new device” on the right-upper part of the window
Click on the icon « Phone info »
Click on “Scan”
Open « gsm-magic » without closing NSS, then push the button « Enable » of “gsm-magic”.
As you can see, now you can change the product code (on the right of the « phone info » window of NSS). For a Nokia 6680, type the product code 0521637 (this is the product code for France!) and then mark the case “Enable”.
Now press “Write”, and your phone’s product code will be changed (you might think that nothing happened, because the phone is still in normal mode, and the changing of the product code only takes a couple of seconds, but don’t worry, the product code changed !).
Close NSS and “gsm-magic” and you can proceed now with the NSU flashing.
When the flashing with NSU is over, start-up your phone and you’ll have the pleasant surprise that your phone’s firmware is the latest Nokia non-branded firmware in date!

NOTE: I advise you to disable any antivirus (http://www.symbian-freak.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7993#) and firewall on your PC (http://www.symbian-freak.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7993#) during the flashing.

In order to find out the product code for other phone models, download the firmware for your phone model, connect your phone to NSS, click « Scan (http://www.symbian-freak.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7993#) », then « Flash », and after that look for your product code when on « Market » you will see your country. Write down this number, then you can start the manipulation as described above. Anyway, we will soon have the product codes for all the models, so we won’t need this step.

HI guys, i'm new to this forum and i've learnt a lot about flashing phones. I have a 6630 which i recently upgraded with NSU and it started showing me something on the screen (which looks like orange network screen) which annoys me terribly. Most of my themes cant show because of that screen.

After going through the posts (from pg1 - pg 40), i was able to reset my phone code to 0518191 (Euro 1 Standard edition) which i believe is a non-branded code using NSS and it wrote the code succeesfully.

Now comes to the updating part with NSU. when it comes to the part where the phone is to be identified, it comes up with an error message "microsoft c++ runtime error". I have tried different times to restart the PC but it still comes with the same error.

I also tried updating my e90 with the same error message too. I have reinstalled NSU and PC suite but the error still persists. I even had to download Microsoft C++ 2008 redistributable but error still exists

I dont know if it is from the NSU, Nokia website or my PC. Help guys!!

For some phones (6280 for example), changing the product code with Nemesis
doesn'help. NSU seems to use the USB Product ID to detect a 6280 (PID 045A
or 045D) masqerading as a 6288 (PID 0018) so the update is denied.

I'm not familiar with the USB bus. Anyone knows if NSU can be tricked into
believing that it received the correct PID?

Hy people, I have quastion about n97 if somebody can help me please.?? I bought a few days ago the new n97 black. I try to update the phone with new version of update and it happend to me the horrible thing. During the update I lose the connection between computer and n97. Now I can't turn my phone on anymore, actually it's turning on but just for the secund or two I see a white screen.
Has somebody explanation for this? Can somebody help me maybe??? Pleas.

its very simple just flash it with latest file with good cable it will be 100% ok

I have one question. I have a nokia 5310 that has the latest firmware. I changed the product code and tried to reflash it but NSU doesn't let me because I already have the latest firmware. With old NSU I was able to do it but now I can't! Do I have to wait for the new formware version now to reflash it?

I have a 6233 and when I press *#0010# I still see the original "content package" - how to replace that?

It's that I still can't allow any java application to access phone memory, IR, bluetooth, internet, or anything :(

Maybe it is also a bug....
