Hello,
As you might know, Nokia Software (http://www.symbian-freak.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7993#) Update lets you upgrade your phone's firmware, but it will keep your operator's personalization (and revert to it, even if you flashed the phone to a non-branded firmware with Phoenix before).
ExpertGSM published a new method on a french site (www.forummobiles.com (http://www.forummobiles.com)) in order to "trick" NSU so that the phone's firmware will be upgraded with the latest original Nokia firmware.
Here is the translation I've done for this tutorial - just keep in mind that you have to correctly identify (based on a firmware file for your BB5 phone) the correct product code for your country and phone model.
Here’s a tutorial that will teach you how to update your phone’s firmware to a Nokia original version (without your operator’s personalization) with NSU (Nokia Software Update – the official Nokia program).
NSU reads the product code of your phone and it searches its database (http://www.symbian-freak.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7993#) for a newer version of the corresponding firmware in order to upgrade it. This is why you will need to change the product code of your phone into a non-branded product code, before running NSU.
Download the « NSS » software in order to change the phone’s product code. This is a shareware program that you can download on the site of its author here : http://bphreaks.brinkster.net/files/NSS/NSS10373b.zip (http://bphreaks.brinkster.net/files/NSS/NSS10373b.zip)
After that, download the following program: http://rapidshare.com/files/1236869/Copie_de_gsm-magic.rar.html (http://rapidshare.com/files/1236869/Copie_de_gsm-magic.rar.html) (this is not a crack, but a program that allows the activation of any disabled option on no matter what program).
And finally, download NSU here: http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,1522,,00.html?orig=/softwareupdate (http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,1522,,00.html?orig=/softwareupdate).
NOW WE CAN BEGIN:
Install NSS
Install NSU
Connect your phone and wait for Windows (http://www.symbian-freak.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7993#) to install the drivers.
Open NSS and click on “Scan for new device” on the right-upper part of the window
Click on the icon « Phone info »
Click on “Scan”
Open « gsm-magic » without closing NSS, then push the button « Enable » of “gsm-magic”.
As you can see, now you can change the product code (on the right of the « phone info » window of NSS). For a Nokia 6680, type the product code 0521637 (this is the product code for France!) and then mark the case “Enable”.
Now press “Write”, and your phone’s product code will be changed (you might think that nothing happened, because the phone is still in normal mode, and the changing of the product code only takes a couple of seconds, but don’t worry, the product code changed !).
Close NSS and “gsm-magic” and you can proceed now with the NSU flashing.
When the flashing with NSU is over, start-up your phone and you’ll have the pleasant surprise that your phone’s firmware is the latest Nokia non-branded firmware in date!
NOTE: I advise you to disable any antivirus (http://www.symbian-freak.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7993#) and firewall on your PC (http://www.symbian-freak.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7993#) during the flashing.
In order to find out the product code for other phone models, download the firmware for your phone model, connect your phone to NSS, click « Scan (http://www.symbian-freak.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7993#) », then « Flash », and after that look for your product code when on « Market » you will see your country. Write down this number, then you can start the manipulation as described above. Anyway, we will soon have the product codes for all the models, so we won’t need this step.

Good info. Just to add, the Nokia flash files come with a Readme that lists all product codes and descriptions in the package, so it's easy to choose one of the product codes to switch to without guessing.
thanks for the info mate, it's really a big help for us.
Only a simple cuestion if I do that in BB5 (Nokia 6131 - Movistar Spain) I obtain a free phone for use with any operator?, or only my phone have the original firm from Nokia Database??..

I have done this, and it worked great except my keyboard changed. It went from QWERTY, to AZERTY! I found a product code that worked for the keys main functions, but the sub functions are wrong (ie: symbols and such). I was going to try and describe my keyboard and find a product code to match, but here is a possibly better idea. If I understand this right, I could replace the keyboard, and get the appropriate code for the keyboard. This way I could get rid of the Chinese letters on q, w, e, a, and s. Is this correct? I appreciate your vast knowledge and input, I am glad I found this forum!

you may give a try with emule - there are a lot of "exe" firmware packages, and when you install this, you'll get what da123 was talking about.

it looks like I can't edit my first post.
actually, there's no need of gsm-magic anymore.
all you have to do is install this new version for NSS which allows the changing of the product code: http://www.b-phreaks.co.uk/files/NSS/NSS10383.zip,
and then proceed with NSU.

Yup,I forgot to tell you that, but I figured that out few days ago,but Serbian forums were my priority and I forgot to say to the others here that latest version of NSS doesn't need that crack (or cheat) and this makes the process of changing the code faster and easier!!
It would be nice to make a list of product codes for some areas, and in your first thread above this one I gave a list of 4 product codes for N70 and N72 for entire Balkans area (which covers nealy 10 countries) and now others should help out!?

Hi,
here I am attaching all N70 readme files for packs 8.xx. inside you can find all the product codes
i.e.
- RM84_50616203_V2.V01 Euro-1
*0523737 Euro-1
*0522157 Euro-1
*0533531 Euro-1
*0523980 France
*0523982 France
*0533652 France
*0523985 Alps
*0523986 Alps
*0533653 Alps
0523737 is one product key for Euro-1
and so on
you can find readme files when you install the package, they will be put inside the Product folder in program files\nokia\phoenix\products\rm-84 (for example)

Anyone got the product code for N80 Italy (unbranded obviously)?
There's something I don't understand: the sticker on my phone's battery compartment (TIM Italy N80) says code 0537357 and when I check the product code with NSS it tells me 0529378 (I must say that I already updated it with Phoenix and the phone is now V 4.0623.0.41 26-07-2006 RM-92 Nokia N80 (01)), but I thought that flashing with Phoenix could not change the product code, or am I wrong?
I just used the NSU and it told me that my phone is already up to date but if I wanted I could re-install it again.
The question is: is my phone already up to date being product code 0537357 (TIM Italy) or being product code 0529378 (what NSS reports)? Shouldn't I be able to update it to the 4.0623.0.42 since NSS recognizes the phone as 0529378 (therefore not TIM branded)?
Many thanks

If you flashed it with EURO package, than Phoenix changed your phones product code,so you don't have to change it again, and that's why NSS is reading diferent code than the one below IMEI code (which is obviously for TIM branded software) so go ahead and update via NSU!
@ thecrevis:
Those codes are the same thing, they are for the diferent colours of the phones housing, but there is no diference between them in software or hardware,I know for sure cause I had Silver N70 and now I have Ivory N70 and they are completely the SAME,so choose any one of them!!

Nema na cemu! ;)
@ husam8
The benefit of changing your phones product code is if,like me for example, the phone is from France, and I live in Serbia so I don't need French pack that NSU offers me!!Balkans would be great BUT... NSU won't give that pack to me cause my phones product code is not valid for Serbia, and that is one of the benefits of change!!
Another one, maybe even bigger, would be if you have branded phone, say to Vodafone, and have lost a lot of internal memory to their worthless junk software, and maybe even have the stupid"no .mp3 for ringtone"problem, than debranding your phone would be more then good for you,and your phone too!!

Thanks for replying. I'am sorry but i need the codes for the Nokia N70. Do you also now the way to reflash with the same firmware but with an other language? Because when I enter the following code:0522157 (also Euro 1 but the second in the list, I think this is the one which contains the Dutch language in it) there is no differnce. Should I flash it with other software then NSU? Because NSU tells me I've got the current firmware (and it is I think nl. :5.0638.3.0.1)
But the thing is, I don't really care the N70 is English right now exept the messaging part. I use T9 often and there seems no way to change it in Dutch.

I've successfully updated and debranded my t mobile N70 but now Fexplorer, appman and zfontremover will not reboot my phone. I've reinstalled all of the above apps to no avail, anybody tell me whats wrong? Should i just flash my phone again? My phone just freezes up when i press restart in any app and i also couldn't restore my phone memory from my mmc, when i tried that i got the message 'phone startup failed-contact retailer'. I had to format my phone to get it working, everything else works fine.

No you should not,the latest firmware for N70 has that"bug"to stop you from restarting your phone, but new versions of those aplications (and others) will solve that!

Hi,
I have a 3UK branded Nokia N73.
What are the differences with the following codes:
0527009: RM-133 CUST.TRX EURO 1 (Deep Plum)
0529602: RM-133 CUST.TRX EURO 2 (Deep Plum)?
What is the correct product code to use for the phone in the UK?

Hi all, new member here!
I've currently got a Nokia N73 on UK Vodafone and obviously want the latest firmware WITHOUT having to wait for Vodafone to "approve" it.
However, if I unbrand the phone using this method can I then re-brand it when Vodafone do eventually have a V3 upgrade available?
TIA
Nathan.

Offcourse you can,but there will be no need for that since you will like original Nokia software better and couple more MB of free memory in that version you'll surely know to apreciate!!

If this is of any help to you:
My phone was a UK T-mobile branded phone, product code 0537400 which has English and Dutch as the two languages. The nearest product code I could find was the 523307 Euro-A Silver which has English and Dutch.
All seems to have updated (2 mins to write the new product code, 10 minss for software updater to download new firmware and about 8 mins to flash firmware.) Not sure if it is related but keep getting error about sim card not registered, but have no signal in house. Seems ok in signal area.
Hope this is use to some of you.

Does your keyboard layout look like the one at this link. Did the upgrade mess up any of your key mappings?

think i go tthe right thread for this, i cant get NSS to read my n70 product code it just hangs in a way saying its busy reading the values but i ran it for a good while, im using
NSS v 1.0.38.3 (and have tired all 4 versions previous with no luck)
n70 on 3 uk fw v 2.0539.1.2, 19-10-05 RM-84
NSU v 1.1.4.0en
Cable CA-53
im trying to change the product code to put the generic firmware on. i was 100% successfull with changing my n73 also on 3 uk fw v 3.0638.0.0.1, 30-10-2006 RM-133 not sure of my previous fw but i know it wasnt this. I have full use of my internet and messaging and the phone seems to run a little quicker i dont use any blue tooth headsets or gps so i cant say if its any better or not, everything seems ok otherwise.
0541479: original product code
0529602: RM-133 CUST.TRX EURO 2 (Deep Plum) NEW PRODUCT CODE
(Everything else as above)
if you can help with this n70 problem it would be great and hopefully the n73 success helps some one becaused it worried me as i only had the phone a week and wasnt sure if i was doing the right thing, any way hope you can help me !

I have an N70 on the UK Three network. Would I therefore put 0523737 (Euro1 Ivory Pearl & Aubergine) as my new product code?
If I make the phone generic, is it then possible to still have
shortcuts/settings for My 3 stuff, like My Usage, My Account, Last Bill
etc.
Also, is it possible to get the 3 settings for browsing the web etc.
Could someone in the know let me know how to input these settings or a
page which will guide me through this?
People might ask, "Why debrand it then if you want to still use 3 info?"
Because the firware on it at the moment is 2.0539.1.2 (19-10-05) RM-84
and I heard v5 is out. (Even took it to my local Nokia Service Centre,
waited a few days and got back the phone with the same f/w as I sent it
in.) Will still be using 3 (U)Sim in it as have to wait out the contract
but would prefer the generic N70.
Thanks. Anyone else using an N70

Hi all if anyone wants the US product code for N80 is 0529578. I did my N80 that I got from ebay from Asian to use US and it worked!!!. After you change the product code with NSS and them try to update using NSU it tells you that you have the lates Firmware but if you chose to reinstall it then you get the US version installed on your N80. with the shortcuts check usage etc just ad them as a bookmark to get on to three home page press and hold the 0 button .. the best thing of all is you can change to gsm mode instead of dual mode in gsm mode you have better coverage i think it pigy backs of the o2 network :cool:then if you need the 3g stuff which i do sometimes put it back in dual mode

WARNING:
Nokia discussions have closed the discussion regarding N73 Firmware. An administrator has informed me that if you change the product code on the phone and use the software updater to get new firmware, then you invalidate your warranty with Nokia as well as with your Network provider as it is deemed as hacking the software.
I find the situation of Networks having to release there own firmware update release stupid. The Networks code should be a separate program of firmware to the manufacturers. That way everyone can benefit from the manufacturers firmware updates as well as when their network upgrade their software for the phone. This would avoid the problem of some being able to legally update the phone whilst others are at the mercy of their network to release an update.
I've took this from 3G forum.
Backup phone with Nokia suite before updating firmware, as all 3 setting are wiped out.
 In my eagerness to go generic, I forgot to backup first (although contacts etc. backed up on Memory card!) and now do not have any of the 3 settings. Is it possible to go back to the 3 firmware (backup settings!) and then go back to generic firmware?
I really do need the 3 settings for the wife's phone!

Hi,
Does anyone know the product code I should use for a N80 on Orange uk?
Ive read in other places these product codes
0535762
0535761
0529379
for the N80 but im not too sure which one would be best to use and if anyone of them are right?
Please please someone help me
IconBoy: If you change the product code to the one you had before then update it may update to the latest 3 one, but if the current version you have is newer than the current 3 then it wouldnt, thats from my understanding of the process anyway, if its just settings you could try calling three and ask them to send you the settings, say you messed them up, dont tell them you did this.
Yeah, it won't let me go back. Seems I can still get the usage stuff and texts still work as I did a search and found the messaging centre number so all seems okay now.

Yep that was my post on the 3G forum- sorry forgot to post it on here too. Basically ppl were discussing changing the product codes and the Nokia Discussions Admin closed a thread and they delete any posts regarding changing the product code.
Your warranty with Nokia is void if you change the product code and then have problems with your phone. A Nokia Service Centre will see that the phone has firmware that it is not supposed to.
I have emailed the CEO of 3 and he has actioned the Executive Office to look into the matter of the firmware update not currently being available for 3 UK N73 owners. I have been provided with a reference number and they will get back to me within 5 working days with their findings.

The phone is on Orange UK, I changed the product code to 0535762 and used NSU its updated to V4.0623.0.41
Ive played with the phone for a few minutes and I just found out when I go to the camera and try to switch to the front Camera, I get an error message Hardware Failure: Restart Camera.
Im not sure if it was like this before, could this be because of the software update please? or is it a fault with the phone?

Guys, was anyone able to obtain an "unbranded" product code for Nokia E62?
I'm looking for E62 product codes and all I was able to find are 3 of them:
0530924 - Cingular, US
0533757 - Claro, Brazil
0533759 - Telcel, Brazil
I know for sure that Nokia E62 phone is officially present in Canada and in several Asian countries, but I couldn't find those codes. :(
I would really appreciate your help in case you know where I can get more of them.

sorry for asking this, since i'm new in this.
what is the worse risk for changing the code. for example my N70 in indonesia have two different codes. when i try to select the other code (not the original code), they warn :"code you selected is not same with on your phone code, are you sure to use this code?"

3 Executive Office:
"I am sending you this email further to your queries about the software version on the Nokia N73 handset.
In response to your query, the manufacturers often release new software for their handsets and make the generic version of this software available on their websites. However, this software is not necessarily agreed to by the networks and they do not release this onto the handsets locked to our network as the upgrade does not assist with any issues with our network.
Nokia have indeed released newer software for the N73. We have not approved any later variants for 3UK N73s because these later software versions do not fix any real issues for us. As such, a 3UK N73 cannot currently be upgraded past 2.0628.0.0.1, so this current version will remain on the handset. There is soon going to be another version of 3UK software for the N73, but this is related to the new X-Series and we cannot guaranty that this will fix the Bluetooth issue.
With this in mind, I am willing to cancel your account under the 14 day money back guaranty, but would need the handset sent out to me directly. Should you wish to take this route, please email me directly and I will advise you further.
Thank you once again for your correspondence and I look forward to hearing from you soon,
Kind regards."
My new email response to 3:
"Thank you for your email.
I am rather surprised with your response as the new
Nokia firmware upgrades fix the Bluetooth problem with
the original Nokia firmware V20.628.0.0.1. including
some other bugs, and yet 3 are unwilling to approve
them for its customers. Surely 3 customers not being
able to use their Bluetooth devices properly would be
a good enough cause for approving a manufacturer
firmware fix? If the new firmware does not assist
with any issues on the 3 network, it most certainly
would help its customers by allowing them to use the
phone and its capabilities as they are supposed to.
When is the new X series firmware upgrade for the N73
going to be released? Why can it not be guaranteed
that this new firmware will incorporate the Nokia bug
fixes that they have released in newer firmware
versions?
I find it totally outrageous that a product can be
sold with known problems and when a fix is available,
a network provider can refuse to allow it even though
it has no effect with them. Also that no warnings
were given on the 3 and Nokia websites regarding this
issue.
I have bought numerous accessories for my phone.
Returning it would see me out of pocket, not to
mention all the time I have wasted investigating why
my phone is not working properly and from going round
in circles with Nokia and 3 customer services.
Why can't 3 just approve the new Nokia firmware
release for the N73? It would make a large amount of
consumers happy instead of feeling extremely
frustrated."
So there we have it. I have not yet received a new reply from them but I only just responded to their email so it will probably take a while. I cc: the CEO of 3 so he knows my thoughts to their response too.
As it stands neither Company seems like helping out its customers with this Bluetooth issue even though it could be quite easily resolved with 3 approving the Nokia firmware upgrade and Nokia allowing us to download it from their website. We are not even guaranteed that the X-Series firmware release will resolve the problems. And I do not even know when this will be available.
The situation totally sucks. Poor customer service all round so far.

3UK sent me this:
"Thank you for your email and further queries.
I have been in discussion with our handset team and they have advised
me that the firmware that you are talking about has not been made
available to us from Nokia. The meeting for this has been set for Monday, as Nokia have made us aware that they are trying to correct the issue. We then have to verify this fix and assure that it will correct the issue on
the handsets which they have built for 3."

You CAN'T update 6230 via NSU,it's not a BB5 Nokia!!

Zoki
My phone connects fine to PC Suite via the USB cable that was supplied with the N73, but the connection is lost whenever I try to run NSU.
It drops at the same point each time when NSU is searching for the updates. The connection is then regained as soon as I quit NSU.
Is this a known problem, and is there an easy fix?

is there a way i can make my MMC work again ?coz in your description u didn't mention removing MMc and i don't know how the upgrad affected it?
behemot_behemot

there's something wrong with your mmc - the upgrade doesn't affect the mmc normally. try to read it on a pc, save the data, then format it in FAT.
can someone upload NSU for me coz i just can't download it...

Got a question. I have changed the product code on Nokia N71(RM-67) from Asia Pacific to Euro1 Alps. Tried to connect to NSU, it checks for software, says you have the latest version, but there is no option to reinstall. Also when I try to flash the phone with phoenix I get an error that the software I am trying to install is older than the one installed. The software on my phone now is:
V 3.0620.1.25
30-06-2006
RM-67
APAC
I understand why it is happening in Phoenix since the flash that I have is version: 2.0613.1.121, but how can I get the appropriate file from NSU after changing the product code. Any input would be appreciated.

Hi Folks,
I'm trying to change a language support on my E61. I managed to de-brand it from original Planet 3 (product code 0538361, En/Chinese lang.) to a clean Nokia GUI and SW layout (using suggested product code 0524755). Chinese language is still sitting there though. As a second step I changed the product code to 0537110 which suppose to be Czech/Slovak variant (that's what I want, hoping that I still will be able to have GUI in English), but NSU keeps notifying me that a newer version is not available. Is there any way how I'd be able to solve this?
Thanks.

Hi Guys,
There is any method to flash a locked nokia n70 without the sim using NSU?
I have an Orange branded Nokia 6151 and would really like to get rid of the Orange HomeScreen (and the annyoing MMS bug) in favour of plain Series 40 Active Standby. I thought this would be the easiest way.
After doing so, Orange HomeScreen is really gone, the Active Standby is still missing however. There's simply no Active Standby option in Settings > Display > Standby mode settings. Active Standby only appears after resetting the setting to Full Factory via NSS, but is not customizable at all and disappears with the next phone restart anyway. I thought formatting the user area could help, but NSS is not able to do this -- I receive an error everytime I try...
Anyone has any idea what should I try next?

Even if there is no newer firmware available, (at least the latest version of) Nokia Software Update should give you the option to "reinstall" the last firmware.
I've read a post from a guy reporting that he was unable to get updates for his E61 with 0537110 code and had to replace it with another one. Try one of these:
0530081 Euro-G1 Silver (should be English, German and Czech)
0532623 Euro-G2 Silver (should be English, German and Slovak)

sorry, I don't get it: what do you mean by "a blank"?
A blank is a _ (the space between two letters) :o
behemot_behemot
01-10-2007, 09:06
and where did you put it the blank? normally you click on the link or you copy/paste it to the browser. and there's no need of gsm-magic anymore, you can change the product code directly with NSS, as already said :)
I copied a 05xxxxxx_.
So the product code was incorrect and has not been flashed.
But it works now.
You see, in 99% of errors they sit in front of the screen :D

Hi all I have a nokia n91, nemesis reports the following:
Code: 0534988
Phone Version: V w33_06w12v1 21-03-06 RM-43
My phone is a Nokia n91 on its original Vodaphone UK software which does not update via nokia updater.
I have read all the threads on here about this & believe I have to change my product code for a generic one, there are two codes listed in posts these are:
0535754
0523183 Euro1
I am unsure which is the correct one to use but did locate this post from a member:

I've got it now. I had to re-enter my original productcode after the update.
---------------------
In nemesis I am doing the following:
1. go to phone info & click SCAN which gives me the information on my phone version & IMEI
2. go to flash & click SCAN this gives me my current product info code
3. go to info & click READ to give me my current product data... BUT this is where in the very bottom of the program it says "Reading Values" "804 3" "Busy" "RM-43" .... it then just sits there & does nothing more, when I close the program there is an error message that pops up but clears to quickly to see what it says.
Please help by trying to answer these questions:
1. Am I doing anything wrong so far?
2. Do I need to click READ?
3. Do I just enter a new product code & click WRITE, do the update then revert back to my original code?
4. Which code should I use? & why does the second code I have located list EURO1 next to it?
I really do not want to ruin my phone so any help would be greatly appreciated.

hi, pccheaters.
1., 2. - you're doing nothing wrong, you just don't need to click READ (I never tried it, although I successfully flashed a 6680 and a N73 with this method).
3. I never reverted back to the product code - I think his problem was solved by the restart of the phone rather than changing the product code back...
4. the code EURO1 contains a pack of european languages -english for sure, but can't say which other languages without installing the firmware on the PC. however, since the other (UK) code is already tested, you can give it a try with it too :)
good luck!

ThanX, but when I check the product code here: http://europe.nokia.com/A4305060
for available updates it appears only 4.0623.0.42, not 4.0632...i.e. with which I want to update!???
I've read along the forum that some members succeeded to upgrade through NSU to the Internet Edition, how can that be possible???

Im novice about phoenix is this a software?
how can i get this software? thanks
Hello,
As you might know, Nokia Software (http://www.symbian-freak.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7993#) Update lets you upgrade your phone's firmware, but it will keep your operator's personalization (and revert to it, even if you flashed the phone to a non-branded firmware with Phoenix before).

Hello Guys,:D
I have A Nokia 6680 firmware ver: 5.04.07 Euro-1. in Euro-1 firmware the original font is kinda big.. and i have seen couple of phones with APAC firmware which fonts are bit Smaller than this Euro-1 Firmware.. so if i change my phones product code to APAC and update via NSU, will it be possible to make my Font also like APAC small Font? cos i herd installing fonts may loose some free memory! which i dont want to..
Thanks in Advance.. :)

Hi there!
I own a nokia N91 optus australia brand unlocked.
Firm. v 2.10.1.13(latest) 21-9-06 RM-43 N91 (55.01)
i've used the original nokia usb cable(that came with the phone),
NSS 1.0.38.7,
NSU 1.2.30en.
1.I installed NSU(i had it already installed but upgraded today)
2.installed NSS
3.closed any nokia software running ,connected N91 with the usb to my pc
4.started NSS,it found my device
5."Read" button doesn't work for me(somebody has posted the same problem before)but i just put the product code i want
(in my case 0523183 Euro1...*just the numbers not the "Euro1" :) *)i checked "Enable" and pressed "Write".
6.closed NSS, disconnected usb cable then connected it again and started NSU.
7.NSU notifies that my version is up to date but i press next and reinstall.
8.Mobile restarts just now and i can proudly inform you that i have the euro1 language pack installed without the optus Australia icons in the menu:eek:!!!
**** Firm. v 2.10.1.13 15-9-06 RM-43 N91 (01.01)*****

I want to use NSU to change it to V 04.51.I tried the codes that I fond in this thread 0523189 but it tells me that there is no update available at the time, I think is because is still the same Firmware. HI,
I have an AU 6280 running 3.65 (old, optus branded). I'd like to update with this message but I have seen the online NSU only lists 6288 not 6280. If I were to change codes to a 6288 (even though it never came with f/w 3.65) should I be able to update?
On that note, if it should work, does anyone have a code for an unbranded AU 6288?
Thankyou!! (This seems the best flashing method by far)

Would this apply for me also, if I changed my 6280 code to 6288 product code, would the NSU work? Or do I need to use Phoenix?
I just have the feeling that changing code and using NSU would be "safer", but will do Phoenix if I have to.
Hello everyone, I'm trying to unbrand my 6151, I've located a product code from another post on this forum (0540192) and changed my original 0542084 (Optus - Australia), I've changed the code in NSS and then I've run Nokia Software Updater and after downloading and flashing, it boots up with the exact same firmware, stupid Optus Australia with silly animated Zoo animals.
Could someone advise were I might be going wrong.
Would be nice to have the original nokia firmware and not the Optus Australia branded version that makes it look like a childs toy!
Thanks,

Hi everyone, I have a question regarding product codes for a 7373.
NSS reports that the product code is 0540888 which includes vietnamese, english, and chinese (traditional and simplified), but I want to know what product code I would have to use if I want to have english and spanish (spanish preferred) instead, since I use T9 a lot.
On the only site that I know has the product codes listed, there are lots of codes for Euro-A, B, C... and I don't know which one to use. (Preferably, the one intended for North-Latin America.)
Could anyone please assist me with this?
Thanks in advance.

Yes this applies to you as well. NSU doesn't allow to re-install firmware based on your product codes like they did in the past. I used Phoenix for both my 6133 and 6288. Good Luck.

Version 1.3.0 has offered me an option of re-flashing my 5.50 6131 with 5.50 again. Or are you saying that they don't allow to go from one product code to another within the same version?

If you the same firmware you are able to flash it with different product codes, however on the 6133 the firmware is RM-126 and the 6131 is RM-115. Thus when you attach your 6133 and it searches it will not find any codes for RM-115, therefore you will need to do a "DEAD" phone flash to get the RM-115 on the phone. At least this is how I did it.
Now for the 6280=> 6288 it may or may not, since I do not know what firmware the 6280 has. The 6288 is RM-78, so if the firmware is the same the person will NOT have to do the "DEAD" phone flash.
Hope this makes sense.

Got it -- for a while NSU did not give an option to flash the same firmware over again, so I got confused by what you meant. I didn't know NSU allowed to flash a different firmware type, like RM-115 on an RM-126 phone in earlier versions.

NSU doesn't allow for anything anymore besides updating to current firmware if available. Now if you want to install different firmware you will need to use Phoenix or send it off to get it flashed.

6280 is RM-78 as well, I have just checked.
So what you are saying is I can update to other RM-78 firmwares (regardless of the fact they are 6288 firmwares)... but I must have the product code from an unbranded 6280 (if yuo can give me one that would be great :))

that is correct you can use either 6280 or 6288 firmware and as long as they are the same versions, you should be fine. I can't guarantee since I do not own a 6280. As for the code, I do not have one that is unbranded.

Hi everyone. I finally found a list of codes I could use for my 7373, but apparently, I screwed up.
Here's what I did:
* Changed the product code with NSS to an Euro-C code, which has English and Spanish, among others. (apparently, my first mistake was not checking "Enable" when I should have done so)
* Started NSU.
* NSU detected my phone and proceeded to tell me that I had an update available for it (v03.93, which is available for APAC only, not Euro.)
* Carried on with the upgrade (second mistake.)
* Phone upgraded, and booted normally. When I checked it, it had the original languages installed. :(
Now the phone has firmware 3.93, and I can't downgrade it with NSU to try installing the one I originally wanted to get. Any suggestions?

It doesn't link directly through to the file now (there's a newer version again), but just go back to the page you got, follow the links through to the download section and it's in there.
Also i can't find an unbranded 6288 Australia. If anyone has one, it would be great. cheers.

Unbranded 6288 is 0542201.
This does NOT work for 6280, it will lose connection and not work - you get dead phone.
I am finishing downloading 5.96 software pack so I can dead USB flash - I hope it works!!
Dead flash is working - I had to reinstall cable driver so it would find the phone again (as a 6288). I think it is easier to use Phoenix for 6280, since you need it anyway to dead flash.
6288 should be able to use PC 0542201 and NSU without a problem.
Thanks for the PC. It doesn't matter that i am on the 3 network in Australia?
I still can't get the NSU program, the website just sends me around in circles. Maybe it's a security issue? Is there somewhere else i can get it from?
Ok, now i managed to get the latest version of the program from another site.
NSS doesn't notice my phone being connected. Each time a scan i get a message in the bottom left corner: "Scan for product... Error"
Any idea how i can get it to read my phone? Window does reconise it.
sorry i rea dont get this
does this mean , i ``generically flash``the phone to my country region and phone works for my country network or it only removes op logo and remain locked?

As for right now, the NSU does not have the ability to re-install the firmware with product code. the only way you can unbrand your phone is have it flashed.

I think Nokia may've pulled down the firmware completely, if you go to the Nokia Software Update (http://www.nokia.com/A4176089), the E62 is not listed as supported. Note that it doesn't list "Update" version for it. For reference, this is what I get with my 6131.

Ok :) I just got a brand new Nokia 6133 and I want to enable the ability to use Mp3s as ringtones..iam am totally new to this whole thing so what do I do?
I did all the stuff on the first page (well not on the phone yet) but I downloaded the stuff and got the NSU for 6131 and was wondering is it ok to use that on my 6133? If not what should I do to enable the Mp3 ringtones?
^^^ You have to do a complete flash of your phone before you can use mp3s as ringtones. Do a search and you'll find out what you need to know on how to flash your phone. But word of caution use at your own risk.

Hello,
As you might know, Nokia Software (http://www.symbian-freak.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7993#) Update lets you upgrade your phone's firmware, but it will keep your operator's personalization (and revert to it, even if you flashed the phone to a non-branded firmware with Phoenix before).

Your product code is found inside your phone, on the white label beneath the battery.

Hi ppl,
First time poster...hope you guys can help me out...
I have a Cingular E62, which is very resticted and I want to re-flash it to a unbranded firmware hope i can get some answers...
1) what is the code for U.S. unbranded?
2) what is the code for Taiwan Chinese unbranded?
3) will i be able to use firmware from Taiwan Chinese E61 for my Cingular E62?
4) does NSS still work for things like these?
I have used NSS to update my Nokia N73 firmware before, but it was a couple months ago....
Thanks in advance!
