I have a V3 with LCD problem.
The hinge on V3 broke snapping ribbon. Screen was working fine before opening phone.
I replaced keypad membrane and now everything working apart from screen. Tried with another membrane and same problem. Also tried with another LCD screen, still not working.
I am new to phone repairing but was very careful when replacing the membrane.
Please could anyone give me any info on why screen not working at all in detail please. like i say new to repairing.

is the outer lcd working?
and does the inner lcd light up or just black?
Inner & outer LCD not working at all. Both are just black.
Keypad light working fine, I can make and receive calls. Just no display at all.
Dont know if this is any help but when I put the battery in, the keypad light comes on for a couple of seconds then goes out again, dont know if this is same with all V3's.
check the connector under lcd is connected properly and clip is closed.

Ive checked all connecters and made sure they are connected properly.

As Im new to repairs, not sure exactly what you mean by create jumper.
Looks like i need to short the links uve highlighted in red. Should I disconnect battery and LCD?
Also how do i short them do i just need to use end of a screwdriver and connect points together? Phone on or off!
Sorry if this sounds really lame, but dont have experience in electronics! A step by step would be great.

this is very delicate execise. you have join/solder those redline points with a thin wire after remove ic. but if it still don't work, then it will be very diffcult to replace ic unless you are very good at soldering.....(no disrespect to you. you did said you are new to this)
i would suggest that you go through the elimnation process to determine where lays the fault. is the board; key pad membrane or LCD?
connect the board to the keypad membrane and LCD without reassemble the phone. then power on and see.......

yeah. i agree with you. this will make job easier. i have 1 and i think every serious gsm repairer should have 1. with no disrespect to you. the guy did say he is new to this gsm business. i merely point out other options. that way he can be sure where problem lays. it might be just a loose connector or dry solder under 1 of pins. you never know..........

which model you have used membrane (Metel Dome) you have used..
for V3 use V3 membrane (Metel Dome) only and
for V3i use V3i membrane (Metel Dome) only......
it will be slove

I have used v3 membrane and have also tried original membrane from another phone as well, so def not membrane!
when I took out old membrane, the flex connecting to main board broke and the pins got stuck in the connector.
Got them out and replaced the whole membrane but dont know if this could be reason for screen not working! any ideas?

i suggest to not make this wirings because you are shorting flpw signals without reason
