If set is short it will go dead.you can cheque it with help of multimeter in conyinuity range.Cheque the continuity

Thanks for the advice but what i really want to know is what causes the short on the phone? How do i troubleshoot the problem? What should I repair on this kind of fault if the phone is short?
In certain cases when it is short the phone can still be turn on but there is no network so i just change the pa and it works, but i have come across many phones when it is short and cannot turn on i have no idea what is wrong?

{such as net work or insert simcard OR not charging or local mode etc. etc.} & we focus on components related with that Fault.
When set is fully short it will not power on; & some component on circuit plate gets over heated. this you can cheque by connecting the 4volt dc supply directly to batt. connector.

Thanks for the answer. I have actually went through your gsm help and there are certain pictures that are not avaliable. But now i got the answer by connectting the 4volt directly to the batt. connector i fix my 6680 just a while ago. I found out that the cpu was hot. so i have replaced it and it works. Thanks for sharing your knowlegde.

I have another 6680 today that is shorted and i try to put the direct supply of 4 volts to the board and then immediately after i cilp the negative cilp to the batt connector, the power supply machine light turn to green and the voltage drop to 0volt and after a min or 5 min i feel the board and it is not hot at all. So i think the power supply is not supplying voltage to the board.
what shall i do to check the shorted board? I have try to put the charger in the board and it is also not hot at all. what shall i do now????

In this case when set is 100% short 1st cheque the plate with magnifying glass; if there is any point short or ****n .2ndly cheque PFO & then UEM.

RAR_FILE---Video which i have posted are in rar file format.To extract video you have to install the file which i am posting here

After installing this file,you dowload all video files parts in one folder, now rightclick any part, new window will open,here you click option "EXTRACT HERE" Now you will get the video or jpeg pic.etc.& you can Play it

1st you have to install Wrar-300 on your computer,you can download this from
http://rapidshare.com/files/25774289/wrar330.exe.html
11ndly You download all rar files in one folder as in Pic_1
3rd you right click any rar file with mouse you will get as Pic_2 , here you click option "EXTRACT HERE". Now you will get a Video File as shown in PIC_3 which you can play.In other cases you will get fault repairing pictures
IN Case of Lessions for bigners after extracting you have to click files as in pic_4 ,you will get your lessions

1st write latest mcu ,PPM; then write good Pm file.
If OK, othewise go to 2nd step{Search networks manually ,if it shows all networks, then fault is with RF ic OR with PFO.IF it makes emergency call at 112 without sim then fault is with RF stage}
IF it does not search any network then ist you reflow Uem with hot air gun{CAUTION-ONLY IF IT IS NOT SEALED} .
Now cheque the network. If it is O.K. Otherwise cheque Antenna switch & Filters
