Hi everybody,

Since a number of us have got this infrared rework station, and have used it for a while, its time for us to share info on its usage. The moderators were supposed to start a separate section for this, but i feel they're very busy with the site and their work. So i have started this thread and am looking forward to the users giving us their tips and perhaps uploading some profiles they have made for the machine. If the moderators wish, they're free to move this thread to another section.

I request members not to use this thread for things not related to RE-7500 usage.

Please start sharing from today!

Best regards,

:)

Hi anybody got any idea the bestway in which to remove k750i joysticks v3 charging blocks ??? these seem to be fixed to the board via solder which melts only at high temperature.

Jovy syetem seems good removing plastic parts
(temperature at 185)but ive took it up a lot higher but still joystick charging blocks do not move.

1- you have to use lead free flux gel or liquid (it is cheap)
normal flux burn in heat degree lower than solder melting heat degree
keep protective covers in it's module in other side of board
which exposed to lower heater.

2- Use lower heater in re flow (not fast re flow)

3- Use upper heater in fast re flow with adjusting the distance between end
of part and heater 5 cm it is differ between v3 socket and k750i joystick

4- monitor the heat till 220 to 230 not less remove the upper heater and now
all o.k i hope .

if any you welcome to discus

hi
yes it is possibe to remove epoc using jovy system
but import things in hardware repairing is experince trial and error
for remove glued or epoc base ic important they needed more temperature to remove the ic as far as my experince goes the glue ics is destroyed
but the pcb is not so u can put another new ic
but all this requires years of practice
i hope u can understand

Novice questions:(sorry)

1:- Do we have to put the TC near the pcb or touched to the pcb ?

2:- In your video u work with both heater(uppwer and lower) same time.

But in manual , it uses the lower hearter and wait for the temp to reach at 80 to 120 C , than rotate the upper hearter and machine enter in the normal mode. and temp goes 180 to 230 C.

Also the hights of upper heart= ?

Actually i have never used the ir before. usually and most of the time i use the hotair. the idea/technique is different in ir.
So i hope u dont mind my questions.

Sorry for my bad english.

The heat probe has to touch the part that you are removing.
As far as i know you run lower heater first to preheat the board-Then use both top and bottom to reach your tempreture (180-225)
The HEIGHT does matter on the top heater-I use it at about 4-5 cm-to close may burn board.

Please find below video of removing the two chips easly .

Note this is first time use Pcb horzintally so you sholud take about these:

1-Use reflictive tape to exclude any other chips to be reflowed

2-cooling stage after removing the flash chip is a must

3-Use the upper heater 7 cm high over the pcb

4-the thermo cuple prope should be adjusted to place near the chips exactly .

Granted, he is good.
First phone I played with worked fine afterwards. Next 3-4 bits either fell off of the board or didn't power on afterwards.

Best thing I did with this station is to either use the silver tape to cover any BGA components that didn't need re-working with the silver tape that came with the station and / or Kapton tape that can be bought from RS.

I prime both top and bottom heater on fast reflow for around a minute, then remove the top heater, switch the base heater to reflow and then line the board up with the lazer pointer. Leave everything until 80' C is reached. Then move the top heater into place on fast reflow. The temperature will rise to 150'C quite quickly. Around 30% of this is the direct heat from the lamp and not the board temp. Then I switch the base heater onto fast reflow. Usually within 20-30 seconds the board is ready. Either joysticks, etc are ready to be removed with tweezers or if the component / s you are working on were fluxed, then they are re-flowed by now..

With some makes of phone the bga chips if not insulated from direct heat will literally **** the solder balls through the glue. This just makes more work.

Flux gel / paste is best. Normal flux evaporates far too early. For stubborn parts such as a D800 I/O port with the board almost completely covered in Kapton tape I had to heat the board to 250'C and the component wouldn't shift even though plenty of flux had been used. A little solder paste placed on the top managed to remove it at 170'C.

I used about 10 or so phones from the graveyard that I have to play with. Different heats, insulation, heights of head, etc. Still have the odd mis-hap but this is relative to the amount of work it does is rare.

Using your eyes when the temperature reaches 150'C is still the best guage. Black marker on a visible solder joint very close or on the component you are working on is a great indicator as to when the solder is workable or not.

Here we have many tricks credit go to Blartiartfast
excuse me i will add some hints to clear the idea for all as it is very helpful

Yes you are 100% right and also we should use flux for lead free soldering
as it is assign for high temprature

For sure solder paste accelerate the melting of the original solder joints like we use to melt hard point specially earth points

excellent hint but also with marker use a led lamp very cheap if you use usb one

Please always share with us ,forum members own plenty of Jovy RE 7500
we could discus to make all work easy there are many tips

1- Fast process ( Most of users use it now )
2- proper helping tools ( flux, reflective tape and solder paste )
3- Removing glued ic's ( Most safe tool for this process without damaged any other glued components)

Such post here this section assign for such support also all members could help through their chat programmers (MSN,ICQ or Sonork)

I believe also support @ Jovy-sys.com is very friendly and fast and helpful

Dear Raheeeeb,

Thanks for all the videos you have posted on your site. They are very helpful. One suggestion i have is for each video, do let the others know at what temperatures you finish the process, eg in reballing, desoldering, mounting. From the videos some temperatures are easily understandable, but once the camera is focussed away from the display one doesn't know at wha specific temperature you complete the jobs. Also please mention the height of the heater as per your experience.

Best regards!

I have used these temparatures

For IC removal from 37 to 80 C use preheater in park mode. Between 80 and 90 C pull IR head roun to normal mode then swithch on overheater ir in fast reflow to 180 C then remove IC as in video. Troble is that temp varies du to solder type ie if it is lead free or not that is probably why Raheeeb has omitted temparatures. Little more temp applies to reballing 190 for lead and 240 for lead free. I think you need to use some discretion of heater hight. The lower the temp you want the higher the heater hight the higer the temp you want the lower the heater hight. In other words heater hight and temp are negativly corrilated.

Dear friends, could someone explain to me how BGA placement is done?

Obviously i dont have much experience on that.

I am experimenting with the rework station at the moment and want to remove an underfilled chip and then refit it on board.

I can remove the bga and reball it.

My first problem is how to clean the mess on the pcb.
Second, how do u align the bga with pcb. I would need 2 ir beams, no? Do u locate the centre on both the chip and board?

Raheeeeb thanks ur videos are very helpful, but in the

My Friend before Jovy machine arrived we all used to work with hotair and that time it was working fine, but at the same time as the technology is changing and to make yourself more professional and more acurate we should use more professinal tools like Jovy machine. I have tornado machine but you cannot compare Jovy with tornado or hotair these are different machines, near future i will place my jovy order for sure and at the end i would like to say that if you learn some thing from a experienced person like Raheeeeb you should always respect you should never write "RUBBISH" kind of words remember my friend every single day its a new learning experience.

Hi from spain:

Sorry, because my english si very bad.

Five days ago I received the machine JOVY RE-7500 and does not work either ... Preheat not reach the 400 º C in 3 minutes as the manual says, barely 25 minutes at 180 degrees and place the heater at its maximum power.

Hey MISTER_CHIP
so sad you did't know how to use the machine in the first day :), this is normal man,, this machine is not a plug & play tool :)
I face this problem also first day I used RE-7500.
I think you should shout and complain to Jovy company to send you the Spanish manual dud. (I sure they dont have non-English manuals) the English manual you'll not understand
very important the location of the heater sensor Or you get wrong temperature reading

finally
I blame jovy systems dosent have a good manual in Urdo or Chinese or spanish becasue 80% of people use it are not English speaking

They undertake to give me support mesenger to resolve all my doubts.

I can not delete my previous message. So I write this message to say that everything ok
