I am inspired to contribute back to the forum. I spent many hours researching to how to unlock my U8330, which I found is an update of 8130/8180 and possibly others (pls post if you know).

Ok, I found the U8330 cable at pinout.ru under LG81xx, although the info is vague there and I later found in other posts the answer.
CABLE home made: I am not a cheapo but flash cable is hard to find in AU. So I modified an original USB data by inserting extra pins (not an easy job requiring patience and steady hands & eyes ), I needed to add pins:2 VPPFLASH,17 RX,18 TX (I couldn't quite fit in Pin 19 gnd)
1st: Disconnect wire to Pin 21, check mine was a ground to move to Pin 12 ,
2: link Pin 21-Pin2
Wire to my trusted COM serial - flash adaptor based on MAX232 (diagram at pintouts.ru):
Pin 17 & 18 to appropriate pins of MAX232 pins (usual RS232 voltage test to match pins; hint only TX pins has voltage on either side ie. RX =0v)
Pin2 linked to 21 --- Derived voltage source on RTS & DTR etc..

I uploaded Vygis from the net (you have to find it yourself as links are short term only). I read many postings pp saying says it does not work I can confirm it does at least to read flash & unlock. I can't see why if it does not work if you achieve read & unlock; same comm path just diff commands.

Note U8330 (most U8xxx) needs TP (test point) you can easily find this info.

Thanks for everyone sharing the info.

By the way, my cable now has 2 leads: USB end & RS232 end, both are detected concurrently but not receommended.

PS. If you want your USB to charge add Pin5 and link it to PIN 16 USB Vcc
