General

When you start TaskMan you can see 3 main views: Open applications, Memory and Quick start. You can switch between them with left/right cursor keys or by selecting the needed view from 'View' menu.
Open applications view

This view shows the information about running applications. You can see what applications are running currently, switch to the needed application, get information about any running application, close some application or all applications at once. You may also see the amount of memory available at the end of the list.

This view substitutes the built-in task manager (if enabled in options) and task selecting navigation here is the same as in the built-in one. You can select an application by using joystick or just pressing Menu key several times to select the needed application and then long press Menu key to switch to the application.

You can also select in Settings not to substitute the built-in task manager but to define your custom taskman activation hotkey, in this case both Best TaskMan and the system task manager will work without conflicts at the same time (See Settings section in this documentaion for more information).

Hint: When this view is shown it automatically highlights the previously focused application so you can cycle between 2 last applications in a fast way.

Advanced configuration
You can select "Tasklist exceptions", and "'Close all' exceptions" from Settings menu in this this view:
Tasklist exceptions - Allows to define a list of applications that should be hidden in Open applications view. It can be very comfortable to hide some applications running in background all the time and you switch to them very seldom. This option also applies to TaskSwitcher applications list (see TaskSwitcher section in this documentation for more information).
'Close all' exceptions - As 'Close all' command in Open applications view closes all non system applications you can set up here an additional list of applications that should not be closed with 'Close all' command.

Quick start view and Quick start launcher in action
This view allows you to increase the productivity usage of your smartphone. You can place here all most used applications and access them very fast when you need them.

You can add an application to this list using "Add application(s)" command. Also you may use "Move up" and "Move down" commands (or shift+up/down keys) to arrange the applications.

You can start an application directly from this view but there is also Quick start launcher - a unique and very fast way to start favourite applications. To use it you need to define a "Quick start hotkey" in system settings. Then the Quick start launcher window will appear after pressing the hotkey. From navigation and behavior point of view Quick start launcher is similar to TaskSwitcher (please see TaskSwitcher section below for more information) but there is favorites aplications list instead of running tasks list.

TaskSwitcher in action
TaskMan's Task Switcher is an alternative way to cycle applications (that requires much less key presses to switch between applications). TaskSwitcher has the same look and feel as "Alt-Tab on Windows". You can configure your own TaskSwitcher hotkey in 'Settings'. Default hotkey for it is "Shift+Menu".

For example you can set up Shift+Menu button for this action. Then press Shift+Menu any time you work with your device, keep Shift button pressed and hit Menu as many times as needed to select some application. Release Shift button to switch to the selected application instantly. Absolutely the same as Alt-Tab works on Windows.

Hint: While you keep Shift pressed as in our example you can also use cursor keys to select the needed application and release Shift button to switch to the selected application.

One hand mode:

You can define any hotkey to use with TaskSwitcher. A hotkey consisting of Modifier (Shift,Fn,Ctrl) and other button could not be handy in certain situations, e.g. to use with one hand. So you can define TaskSwitcher key without any modifiers, e.g. to Dictaphone, Multimedia, Camera, etc key. If so TaskSwitcher will behave like the built-in one but with improved functionality.

For example you can set up Dictaphone key to be used as TaskSwitcher. Then press Dictaphone key any time you work with your device and TaskSwitcher will appear. Hit Dictaphone key as many times as needed to select some application. Or use cursor keys to do it. Now long press Dictaphone key (for 1 sec) in order to switch to the selected application (Also you can press Ok or Enter buttons to do it as well). So you can hit Dictaphone button several times only (and no other key) to switch to any needed application fast and with one hand only.

Note: 'Shift' button on most Series 60 devices is graphically marked as 'Pen' on device keyboard.

Advanced views

You can access views that show advanced information about your device from "Views \ Advanced" menu. There are Processes, All open apps, and Installed apps views:
Processes - Shows all active processes. Allows to get information about them and terminate any 3rd party processes. Ending any system processes are not allowed. System processes are the ones that supplied and configured by the device vendor (in firmware).
All open apps - Shows the view similar to Open applications view but it also shows all hidden applications
Installed apps - Shows all installed applications on your device. Allows you to get various information about these apps as well.
Settings

Using application settings you can override the default application behavior and customise it to fit your needs.
"Taskman activation" - If it is set to "Instead of built-in one" then Best Taskman will replace the built-in task manager when you long press Menu key. If it's set to 'Custom key' then both Best TaskMan and system taskman can work at the same time.
"Activation hotkey" - Visible only when Taskman activation is set to 'Custom key'. It allows you to define a hotkey to pop up Best TaskMan from background.
"Switcher hotkey" - Allows you to define hotkey to use with TaskSwitcher.
"Quick start hotkey" - Allows you to define hotkey to use with Quick start launcher
"Autostart Taskman" - if enabled TaskMan will be automatically started in background when system starts

This great! Thanks. I cant seem to get the new Best Taskman to open. It installs nicely but doesnt open on the N80? Version 1.01 opens fine. I uninstalled it before installing v2. Any ideas?

i had version 1.5 b4,i uninstalled it,and install 2.1,now it works fine,just uninstall 2.1,restart phone,and reinstall it again,may be it workz,post results.

NStarter is a tool for starting any application by pressing a hot key (Pen+*,# or numbers). Also it can reboot the phone without asking protect key and to start automatically after reboot. It starts any of exe files from your phone, so be careful when starting some system applications (phone may hang).
This version doesn't display itself in task list, so to bring it foreground press Pen+C.

The SMS diary application reads all your SMS messages in your
phone (but do not delete them, of course) and creates a diary
out of them. The diary that will be created consists of two
web pages; one page with a table of contents and statistics
(statistics on how many messages you have sent etc) and the
other page contains all your messages, formatted in a nice
way. The web pages are saved on the internal memory of your
phone. After the diary has been created you can transfer the
webpages to your pc and store them for future use.

SMS Diary currently supports the following languages: English,
French, German, Spanish, Italian, Swedish, Finnish, Russian,
Dutch, Simplified Chinese and Belarusian.
I appreciate any help to translate the application to more
languages.

Nokia latest high animation-emotion messaging, can use on mostly all symbian S603Rd edition phone. tested on N73, N80 and N95..... Its like Msn, play animation-emotion icon, send message using sms, and can update the icon.

Onlly the point is if u want to send it to your friend then your friend must have install the samre application too..

Y-Tasks is actually a suite of utilities and diagnostic tools that are sure to please even the most advanced S60 user. In this review I’ll go through each of the seven components that make up the Y-Tasks suite and show you why this new freeware app is a must-have.

Filetypes
The Filetypes component allows you to view all recorded filetypes on our device and change file associations. How is that useful? Well just one example is MP3s. By default MP3 files will open in the integrated music player but now you can easily change the mapping so that they will open in a third-party player like MyStrands Social Player instead.

Apps & Tasks
This is the actual task manager component in the app. Apps & Tasks will allow to to view installed apps and running tasks and display info about each item. Beyond that you can also easily bring running tasks to the forefront and even close or kill them as you wish.

Processes
The Processes component allows you to browse through all of the processes and threads running on your device. You can view detailed info on each list item including IDs and capabilities, and you can also kill items from the main Options menu.

Crash Monitor
Here’s where Y-Tasks gets even more unique. The Crash monitor can be set to run in the background even while Y-Tasks is closed and allows you to keep a detailed record of every crash and closure that takes place on your device. This is a very useful tool, especially if you are experiencing problems with any apps on your device.

With regard to the ability to run certain components of Y-Tasks in the background, in the first screenshot at the top of this post (The Y-Tasks home screen) you can see that two icons are ‘illuminated’ in green. This indicates that they are currently running in the background and will continue to run even after Y-Tasks is exited.

Memory status
Memory status gives you a real-time view of the memory state of each drive on your device, as well as RAM. There is also a unique option to “Reserve memory”. This will reserve a block of RAM (any size you wish) and prevent it from being occupied by any app.

Trace
The Trace component is a great tool that gives you a graphical monitor of your RAM and c: drive memory status. Just like the Crash monitor, Trace can be set to run in the background even after closing Y-Tasks and will keep a continuously updated graphical consumption chart. This is a great tool for analyzing the performance effects of individual apps and really does come in handy!

Fonts
The last component in the initial Y-Tasks offering is a viewer that allows you to sample each and every font on your device. To use it you can add text manually or from a file/clipboard. Then you can access all of your existing fonts and apply them from the Options menu.

capcom recently announced the formation of a formal american mobile division and is wasting no time in staking out the space with some of its biggest properties, such as resident evil. the survival-horror franchise is enjoying a massive renaissance, still basking in the critical glow of the successful resident evil 4. however, since an epic of such size and technical requirements could not be scaled down to a cellphone with any degree of reasonable success, capcom set out to create an original game that delivered the elements and essence of the popular console game, but in an experience that makes sense for mobile.

resident evil: the missions breaks down a giant zombie safari into 100 small stages, each composed of a just a few rooms and a small goal, such as rescue a helpful citizen or **** off a zombie’s head. each mission is timed, and depending on how quickly you navigate through the mission, the game gives you a grade. these bite-sized sessions last no longer than a couple minutes apiece, which is the perfect duration for a quick play between life’s other occupations, like work or school. the 100 missions are displayed as a giant branching pyramid. you play through the game on different paths, meaning you could feasibly run through it multiple times without even seeing all of the sights.

the plot starts out simple, with s.t.a.r.s. agent jill valentine checking out a giant mansion linked to the diabolical umbrella corporation. the site has been taken over by the shambling undead, and it is up to valentine (as well as some secret, unlockable characters —— which i am loathe to ruin here) to clear out the zombies and save the proverbial day. valentine has access to a lot of requisite resident evil firepower and items, like herbs. fans will really appreciate that this mobile game does everything in its power to feel like it belongs right next to the rest of the entries in the series.

fortunately, the game doesn’t use traditional re controls, so you just press in the direction you want valentine to run —— no need to rotate her body, then press forward. (bless you, capcom.) the collision detection was something i was hoping wouldn’t suffer, and am pleased to report no hang-ups on invisible barriers. when you move valentine near something she can use, a small icon appears above it, this way you can tell functional doorways and whatnot from the background.

re also employs auto-aim, which is useful for a mobile game where you don’t have the tools for pinpoint accuracy. you switch between running and shooting with a soft key. when you are in the shooting stance, any target within range is painted with a red target. you can pivot to pick off other targets, as well as look up or down. looking up is how you score one-shot kills, which are important in a series known for being a little stingy with ammunition. running out of ammo in this mobile edition is just as painful as it is in the console game. you have access to a knife for up-close attacks, and if you can time your strikes just right, you can do hugely potent counter-attacks that drop a zombie cold.

resident evil runs on 3d-enabled handsets. it uses pre-rendered backgrounds, but casts polygonal models over them. it looks quite nice on the test lg vx8000 i am playing the game on. the models move smoothly with pretty good animation. the texture work is solid, but not spectacular. valentine (and the other humans) got the most attention it seems. many of the zombies look like a collection of gory-textured polygons hastily pasted into humanoid form. the sound is pretty good. there is some beep-boop sinister music, as well as several sound effects for taking shots or picking up items. your characters cry when attacked, zombies make appropriate groans, and monsters, well, make monstrous noises.

closing comments

resident evil: the missions benefits from incredibly smart design choices. recreating an re game in a top-down perspective would have been a little dull. using the familiar fixed camera angles, the pre-rendered backgrounds, and recognizable characters and locations will get the fan base excited. and the way the game is segmented into easily consumed set pieces is great for mobile gamers, as it allows them to play for a few minutes at a time if the real world is creeping in. the game does move a little slow, even with the use of a run command to speed up movement, but the pacing of re has always turned some gamers off while others appreciated the "slow boil."

i think re fans —— and there are a lot of them —— should have no hesitation when considering the download. mobile gamers with a solid preference for puzzle and card games, however, might want to think twice —— as re delivers a more traditional video game experience to mobile.

resident evil: the missions is a collection of 100 new zombie-hunting scenarios based on the events and locations in the original console game. designed for the unique play style of the mobile platform, resident evil: the missions introduces an auto aim feature to the franchise and increases the player’s ammo reserves to intensify the action and frantic pace. additionally, many of the missions have a timed component challenging the player to survive the onslaught of zombies and complete certain tasks before time expires.

to begin the experience, players select the number of missions they wish to tackle. like its console namesakes resident evil: the missions features several of the main characters from the franchise and sports a fixed, third-person camera that switches seamlessly between viewpoints as the character navigates the game world. to assist in the journey through this house of horrors crawling with zombie.

DigitalPerson Micro

DigitalPerson is a project in which it is to create a representation of a person in the digital atmosphere through a profile in which it defines the identity of the person through elements of identity like the name and pseudonym, as also with additional elements as the interests and tastes of the person.

Digitalis Person Micro takes this idea to the movable devices allowing to create the profile, to update it, to add interest elements, to publish it through bluetooth, everything from the movable device. The aplicativo also allows to discover within a personal network formed by the near devices bluetooth, as of these users they have a published profile, which can be visualized by the user who makes the search.

This first version is a test of concept to determine the viability to have micro profile in the movable device, to experience with different forms from visualization and edition of the profile, as well as to provide basic mechanisms for the publication and search with profiles from the moving body.

In order to use this aplicativo one is due to count on I telephone moving body that has supported MIDP 2,0 and has the API of bluetooth for Java (JSR 82).

The work on the version for the 3rd generation of the Symbian OS is in progress - since January 2007. I finished the first version with an unsigned status and plan to sign it when all things are verified by using the software. If you are interested you will need a Symbian developer account to sign it by your own.
Most things are equal to the old version for the 2nd Edition
New things:

using internal or external GPS, select in settings and restart the software

Problems at the moment:

no CBS functions available - not available in this phone api or not found at the moment
bitmap as picture for the cell are not shown
WCDMA signals seems a little bit of frozen - that's what the telephone api gives back
bitmap for the signal values are only scaled so in some screen sizes it doesn't look very nice.

To get better results try to change the advanced settings and enter the coordinates manually.

Known Bugs:
There may be one day deviation in Hijri date. For example Ramadan is sometimes 29 and sometimes 30 days long according to the moons appearance. But it is always calculated as 30 days. This is actually a general problem in astronomical calculations.
There is a determination error when you select automatic daylight saving for some countries. Although it is determined mostly correct, on some dates daylight savings are closed before the actual date. This error is caused by java runtime environment J2ME's current version. To overcome this problem it is adviced to turn daylight saving time on or off according to your location.

During the call, Best Full Screen Caller shows big picture and detailed information associated with the contact.

To have Best Full Screen Caller showing a big picture during the call, you have to activate it - simply click Activate in the main view of the application.

Best Full Screen Caller allows associating a big picture with each contact, group or even unknown caller. To set the picture, click Picture in the main view of the application, select the contact or the group and set a picture for them using menu item Select picture.

Flexible layout options of Best Full Screen Caller allow customizing the appearance of the screen shown during the call.
Settings
In this dialog you can configure the following settings:
Show on - defines whether to show the screen during outgoing and incoming calls
Backlight - normal or always on during a call
Sort order - defines sorting order for pictures in Picture dialog and name order format
Picture quality - defines quality of big photo
Text font
Show title - allows showing or hiding the title pane, when the title is hidden, caller's picture can be a little bigger
Picture size - defines the size of the photo; maximum photo size is calculated as screen size minus the size of buttons bar and minus the size of title pane )
Layout dialog
To customize the options of default Layout, open Picture dialog and select Edit layout command from menu.

If the caller belongs to a group with a custom Layout, then the settings of Layout for this group will be used to display the picture. To set a custom layout for a group of contacts, select a group in Groups tab and choose Create layout command from menu.

Caller information screen can be adjusted with the following options:
Display mode - full screen mode, detail mode, full screen detail
Photo v-align - vertical align of photo
Photo h-align - horizontal align of photo
Caption v-align - vertical align of caption
Details opacity / Details color - defines the transparency and color of details list-box
Background - allows setting as background current theme, custom solid color or picture
Background picture - this option is accessible when Background is set to Picture and is used to select a picture for background
Text color - this option is accessible when Background is set to Picture or Color
Selection text - this option is accessible when Background is set to Picture or Color
Background color - this option is accessible when Background is set to Picture or Color
Highlight opacity / Highlight color - defines transparency and color of caption and listbox highlighted item; this option is accessible when Background is set to Picture or Color
1st, 2nd, 3rd Caption fields - allow choosing which information exactly about the caller will be shown in the caption
Detail fields - allows showing or hiding fields in detail mode
You can preview the outcome of your settings selection with help of Preview command.

TextQuick is a small application for your S60 mobile phone. TextQuick provides a quick way for you to text your best friends and family. It ranks everyone in your phone book by how popular they are. This means it's always easy to find the people you text the most. My aim in creating TextQuick is to make using the phone more pleasurable.

I’ve come across countless people posting pleas on various forums seeking what seems to me to be some very basic functionality; “I want to be able to quickly access my most frequently-texted contacts!” I think I may have even seen a request for this on the S60 Applications Wishlist (which is looking quite snazzy these days by the way ). It makes perfect sense to me and it sounds simple enough, but time continued to pass and no developers stepped forward to address this issue.

Sometimes the most useful apps you’ll find for S60 3rd devices come in very small packages and TextQuick is a perfect example of this. Mind-Flip’s freshman effort for the S60 3rd platform is in my opinion, an absolute necessity for our devices. It is wonderfully simple - as it should be - and it does exactly what it needs to do cleanly and efficiently.

The first time TextQuick opens it performs an analysis of the messages currently stored on your device, making note of the senders and recipients. TextQuick then presents you with your list of contacts ordered according to messaging popularity. Contacts that you exchange messages with most frequently are listed at the top and those with the least frequent correspondence are further down the list. Contacts with whom you have not exchanged any messages are then listed beneath in alphabetical order. There is also a search bar where you can type a contact name (first or last) and the list will drill down as you type.

Scrolling to your desired contact and pressing the select key will cause TextQuick to promptly open a new SMS window with your desired contact in the recipient field and your cursor will be ready to receive your message. It really couldn’t get any easier!

After running this app for the first time, TextQuick makes note of the last recorded message scanned. Subsequent launches prompt TextQuick to scan only for new messages that have been sent or received since the last scan. I find that it opens on my device in just about one second with no new messages present, and my initial scan of roughly 350 messages probably took somewhere between five and seven seconds. Yes, it’s that fast!

Currently TextQuick is available as a free open beta and I really can’t recommend it enough. During the beta, the author only asks that you email him with any feedback that you might have. I’m sure that I’m not in the minority when I say that I use my device for messaging as much as for voice calling, so an app that makes messaging easier quickly jumps up near the top of my list of ‘must-haves’.
