View Full Version : Microsoft Transceiver v3.0 for Bluetooth - New BT stick - Old problem!
Hello all,
I recently got MS desktop set (Wireless Entertainment 7000) together with bluetooth transceiver v3.0 (VID_045E&PID_0708). I searched, read, and tried every way here to use Widcomm software but Widcomm software (v 5.1.0.1100) never recognizes this MS$ BT stick.:confused: (BT device not found)
Is there anyway to run Widcomm Bluetooth software to handle this BT stick, instead of XP's one so I can use other services?

From Device Manager -> Bluetooth Radios can you see your bluetooth device. If confirmed take a look on Properties -> Details. Can you see the Device Instance Id. If confirmed there is a good chance to install the Widcomm.
- Run the Widcomm License patcher so Widcomm software can recognise the bt unit (changing the btusb.inf with these new information)
- Rename the Microsoft bt.inf, bt.pnf to something else (From the folder Windows\Inf\)
- Try to install/update the driver manually so you can be sure the bt device accepts the Widcomm bt driver. If this process is successfully then go for the installation of Widcomm software
Have played around with Broadcom, CSR devices, with the useful tips here from forum I did success to use the Widcomm 5.0.1.2703 with all functionalities from Logitech Widcomm software
@ gsmdb: thank you. I followed the guide but Windows Device Manager can not see the BT stick. I knew the VID&PID when I still installed XP stacks.
I'll try again with fresh windows and Widcomm 5.0.1.2703.
The important part is the right VID&PID is visible/recognised in Device Manager regardless MS or Widcomm Stacks, otherwise patching of Widcomms btusb.inf doesn't work. When it's done the installation of Widcomm software goes straight forward.

You must previously install setpoint from Microsoft to get Windows seeing a Bluetooth stick.
After that you should be able to update the drivers with the Widcomm stack of your choice.
It works for me under Vista Ultimate and Widcomm 6.0.1.5100 from Anycom.

I tried everything with fresh Windows installation, mod'ed the btwusb.inf, and then patched Widcomm 5.1.0.1100 -- exactly followed the guide here. However, still NO LUCK so far. There is still error: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)

I think there's something quite different about this stick (although I never had another). Device manager installs it as a Microsoft USB Hub and HID device, and doesn't mention a think about bluetooth. I can't get any other drivers to attach to it. (VID_045E&PID_0714) I don't think it's possible to get this version of the dongle working with anything besides the keyboard/mouse. Prove me wrong :D

The stick is currently in HID mode. You gotta get it into HCI mode. No idea if MS provides some software to do that.
If the dongle has a little button on it, press the button and hold it pressed while you plug it in the computer. It should then be automatically in HCI mode.
