Hi All !

I have a MOTOROLA V3690 that don't charge the battery.

It shows chargin on the display, but after some hours the battery is still discharged :(

I've tryed replacing charge ic near battery connector, then GCAP II , Q932 , CR 932 but the fault remains.

Any idea??

Insert on the phone a good battery and on J600 (
EXT CONNECTOR ) EXT B+ SUPPLY = 5 Vcc.
Set phone in test mode and digit test command
500255# ( max I charger ).
Does phone draw 0,6 A ?

Check Q932 for correct bias:
pin 4 = ext b+voltage
pin 1,2,5,6 = ext b+ voltage
pin 3 = 0v
else check R932,CR 932 for unsoldered or missing and finally
check presence of voltage = 2,8 Vcc on Q634 pin 4

R932 is the common fault (r932 is the big resistence near the connector but on the other side).

Good Luck!!

Hi Steve!

I tryed your suggestion:

Values on Q932 and Q634 are ok, but even if I enter 500255# the phone draw only 100-150mA :(

On another phone with charge fault I can see that it draws 300mA when I enter test command 500255# , why that??

If the phones don't draw all current , should it be a GCAP II fault?? CPU Fault??? Any suggestion will be appreciated! :)

ThanX
