Yes it wil kill your iphone,
dont upgrade it

new software update will make ur unlocked iphone useless, and updates are automatic
unless you somehow disable it while phone is offline i think

i unlocked 2 iphones, work for t-mobile for 24h and now both give me no service or no reception any body aware of the issue?
