View Full Version : Downgrading iPhone modem firmware ???
Hello,
Locked iPhone 1.0.2 was upgraded to 1.1.1 and I want to unlock it ..
I was able to downgrade back to 1.0.2 firmware, now I can use iBrickr, etc, etc, I installed anySIM 1.02 to unlock the phone but it says "Firmware is already patched, anySIM will now quit". So it cant unlock the phone .
Because modem firmware is still updated and did not accept downgrading when I downgraded 1.0.2 firmware.
I tried with mobile terminal to reflash modem .fls and .eep (I copied 314.fls and 314.eep to /usr/bin/)
cd /usr/bin
chmod +x bbupdater
launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
bbupdater -f 314.fls -e 314.eep
launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist
Error: Failed to download .FLS: Could not verify downloaded image.Done
Maybe anyone knows something more than I do in this matter ?

The files can be downloaded from the url's underneith. They are 91,2MB in size. Rename to .zip to extract the DMG images. The main firmware image is encrypted, while the modem firmware image should be possible to mount directly on Mac.

-If you have 1.01, you can update to 1.02 since modem is not updated
-If you have 1.01 or 1.02 you can perform a restore in iTunes without locking it again
-If you upgrade to 1.1.1 phone will get "useless" since it's not possible to jailbreak/activate yet.

try restarting your phone, and then try again.

This is the most important to downgrade baseband these days for iphone owners, so be sure that they have tried resoring old firmwares with restarting phones which does not help at all .
Any other smarter ideas ?

Downgrading will change your IMEI be aware of corrupted IMEI.
Does anyone here knows more about iphones modem downgrading?

can i know when does the 1.1.1 actually realease? i meant how can i know that the stocks in store was the right firmware? can we read from the product code or something? i like to purchase one for myself :)

Only information that i know is that all phones produced before 39week are 1.0.2 fw 39week are half and half and after 39week are 1.1.1 sure

Why does the Modem Firmware becomes blank after flashing the baseband with 314.fls and 314.eep?
even i receive errors at the end try to look at your modem firmware but dont reset your iphone you can see that the Modem firmware are in blank
So it means that the modem can be downgraded.

It is blank because you disable baseband with command:
launchctl unload /System/....com.apple.CommCenter.plist
Nothing special in this matter .
I even tried to hexedit the 3.14.08.fls replaced 3.14.08 everywhere with 04.02.04, even edited date Jun 3 2007 to Oct 3 2007 :)) But when I try to flash with it, it still says "Failed to download FLS, could not verify image"
I think bbupdater should be edited somehow.

Good try Mod for hexediting,
I think .ipsw should be edited coz the modem firmware is in there.
As you can see that from 3.14.08 it will become 4.13 so it means that the modem is in there (.ipsw)
Changing Modem Firmware could unlock iphone 1.1.1

Downgrading iphone 1.1.1 is easy anyone could do that,but unlocking is not possible unless you can downgrade the modem firmware to 3.14.08_G.

"Failed to download FLS, could not verify image" - error is sec pack mismatch.
The only downgrade method is by geohot's iEraser, but since the secpack for
the new modem is not available (1.1.1 not decrypted yet), you have to
downgrade by custom loader via bootrom.
But the old TP will not work without erase, so you have to find a new one to
dissable the flash.

Is there somebody who can presume where tp can be, i have iphone for dissasembling and enough hardware exp for experimentation, maybe to remove flash and looking for something, can somebody post old tp picture
baseband downgraded but still there are some problems with connecting to network
or baseband isn`t properly flashed with che current version of bbupdater or there is something more besides the baseband that makes problems

If you have decrypted or if you can unpack .ipsw you can unlock 1.1.1 ;)

but you have to wait, you know the iPhone problem - too many OSS guys
working on this, and nobody who does this profesionally even bother to waste
time.

Sorry for my ignorance, folks, but i have a basic problem here. My iphone v1.0 does not connect to itunes in DFU mode. it keeps asking for DFU device drivers. Also, ibrckr does not find it in normal mode. What am i doing wrong? Pls somebody help

I think some of us have missed the point... although correct me if I am wrong...
Unlocking solution on 1.1.1 is not by downgrading back the modem using bb 03.14.8_G but means of using bb 04.01.13_G.?
Also another way i think is either by hardware and software means reflashing baseband Geohot method?,if its by the latter, that means cracking the secpack and edited files required to unlock that modem firmware?
it means we need to bricks some iphones and test and post results.

i dont know if its possible, but is there a flag for says if phone is unlocked or not?.
Cause , before unlocking 1.1.1 solution, a lot of customer will clic on update bouton in itune, and phone relocked.
I don't know for you, but in my country customer don't love this!
so other question:did the update relock all jailbreaked or unlocked phone (i mean, if you test to write a bit and its ok, phone is jailbreaked so 90% chance phone is unlocked too.), or this update is modding all phone, but for at&t user , it is transparent.

this fw 1.1.1 is apples way to take back there crack phones even unlock phone after updatng it will relocked to AT&T but T mobile has no problem yet only AT&T.

yes because first of all you have to delete your baseband.
Copy over the files bbupdater, ICE03.14.08_G.eep, ICE03.14.08_G.fls, ieraser, in /usr/bin directory
chmod those files to 775, or 777, or 755
