View Full Version : A2DP (Stereo) Service in Vista
Hello all,
First of all - thanks for these great forums, without them, I wouldn't have half the functionality I need.
I have Windows Vista, with a Logitech mini-BT receiver that comes with the Logitech diNovo Laser Desktop.
I have a Jawbone headset and a Motorola S9 headset (supports AD2P)... I have everything working using WIDCOMM drivers 5.1.0.3600, except AD2P.
It pairs, connects, and installs the Motorola S9 as a Bluetooth Stereo device... the only issue is that I do NOT see Stereo Audio as one of the local services installed... In the registry, there are 14 services, whereas, when I go into My Device, I only see 10... one of the missing ones is A2DP (Stereo)
What this means is that when I try to find the Stereo playback device in Vista sounds, all I see is "Hands-free Audio" which gives me Mono playback through my S9....
Any ideas? I've tried a number of installs/re-installs and different versions. Can I force a service? ;)
One other thing - I have the Audio Gateway service installed, and the Motorola S9 is using that service... Mono playback only though.
From what I have read, WIDCOMM 6.1 will provide the required service in Vista... Up until now, there is no support for A2DP in Vista from Broadcom...
I found out that the latest version is Version 6.1.0.1501....
Can anyone please please please post this version along with a patch???

Is this the file:
BTFlasher-v2-1-224-06.exe
I'm not sure what version that is... but I'll try it when I get home. From Anycom's download page, the latest version they have is:
v6.0.1.5300

Can you point me to the exact file that is v6.1.X? I would be so excited to try it, since it has A2DP support!

Sorry for the miss but typically Anycom places the files in the beta directory before approving for straight download from tech support site.
Files are usually named : anycom-bluetooth-[dongle]-[OS]-v-[version]-BETA.exe
Where:
dongle is the anycom model - The latest is usb200-250
OS - xp/vista
version - wicomm version number like 6-1-0-1900
In the past anycom has had multiple versions in beta and perhaps is getting a more recent version of widcomm ready for beta use.
Do you know if the ANYCOM drivers will work with any dongle? Or is it hit-n-miss?
The ANYCOM drivers are widcomm based thus any version later then 5.1.0.1100 does not support CSR based dongles. Its safe to also say that for BROADCOM based dongles, 100% functionality can be guaranteed to the latest version of the drivers, given broadcom owns widcomm.
Its important to remember that modifying the inf files and successfully loading the driver for your dongle doesn't mean anything about the driver's functionality and whether the driver code actually fully supports the hardware. It just passes the OS enumeration for the generic type of hardware installed (ie appears in DEVICE MANAGER as working ok)
EDIT: since broadcom/widcomm introduced their online update option, which is supposedly open to any authentic installation, I find it unlikely that manufacturers will change a lot other then a bit of look and feel in their packages...
to top up on my previous post, from the broadcom website BTW FAQ:
"4) What about other Bluetooth devices?
BTW should support any device uses the HCI protocol and conforms to the Bluetooth specification version 1.1. However, you may have to alter some of the configuration files in order to get BTW to recognize the device. Should you require assistance in this area, contact WIDCOMM, Inc. technical support."
Most of us nowadays are getting spec 2.0 dongles, be it broadcom or other chip based...
