My City Navigator NA 2008NT went well and I only had to unlock the maps on the pc and transferred them to my N95 thru map install. I have tested it outside and it works just fine. The only issue is that it does not anounce the street names. It only anounces "turn right or left" but not the full street name even though the name shows up on the screen.

Is this normal or am I missing some files??
Yes it's normal, most GPS device will do the same, turn LEFT, RIGHT or straight ahead, it will nto tell you to turn on a certain street.
You do have a file GMAPSUPP.UNL in your Garmin directory right? That's your unlock code for the phone.

Your first map is GMAPSUPP.IMG your 2nd map should be renamed GMAPSUP2.IMG, you also need a GMAPSUP2.UNL code to go with it.

The 25 digits code is to unlock the maps on PC, you will still need to generate the code with keygen and save as GMAPSUPP.UNL to rn the maps on phone.

Same thing, use key gen to generate the code. Since Austria is not on the list in key gen you need to chose <custom mapset> enter the map ID and generate the code, save as GMAPSUP2.UNL

After much trial and error I have got it wsorking on my N95. my only problem is during navigation the voiced commands given don't agree with the route shown on the map screen. This is especially noticeable at islands when even If I should be going straight on or right the voice command says turn left. Anyone else got this problem ? and more importantly anyone got any idea how to cure it ?

If you are using version 60 you will not be able to use Garmin online since it's a Taiwan version.

ok everyone those who have the australian map v8 and are having trouble activating it what you have to do is name the .unl file the same as the map name for example the map name of the australia map is gmappom.img if i remember correctly therefore you have to name the .unl file the same "gmappom.unl" i have a feeling ppl are reading the instructions and calling the .unl file gmapsupp.unl which is right only if that is your map name thats what alot of people are failing to mention.

if ur gps didnt show the right positon, it means ur gps device need some check.. (not enough signal for ur device)...

i.e.
1. restart ur device
2. u put ur gps device not in the right position such as put bellow v-kool windows film or other.
3. repair ur device on ur distributor.

I have been trying to find the download for this program and can't seem to find a link that works. I have started here and gone back about 10 pages assuming that there would have been an updated link but all I have found is the maps which are split in two.

Can someone please refer me to the latest download thread, and also advise on how to trick the rapidshare site as I have downloaded 1 part of the map and now have to wait 99 minutes for the second part.

Your help would be much appreciated, and I understand that you get Noobs like me asking for everything to be laid a plate for them but TBH I am not that good at this stuff. I tried the search option but I must not be doing it right as I get loads of random stuff not really relating to what I want.

From the instructions I have found, I extracted all the files from the 1st RAR file into a folder on my desktop. I then selected the SIS file located in GMobileCard/Garmin/Apps/Symbian/Res. This then started the installer on my phone. Once the program was installed I then tried to open it. The Garmin screen came up as if it was loading and then just dissapeared. I am then back to the application folder on my phone, and there is not a blue circle by the Garmin app to show it is working. Help me please :mad:

Fired it up and viola...after hours of searching and trial and error this is what worked for me.

Here's how I did it just the other day:

I have dl "Garmin City Navigator Europe NT 2008-ShareAll".

Using Mapsource 6.13.6 how can I import from PC this huge .img file (1,3GB) and split up so I can choose which parts I want to import to my N95 using XT. I recive an error when doing this in Mapsource.

Also, I upload the huge file in total to N95, named it "gmapsupp.img". Then I used Mapinstaller to upload one map from city Oslo, the file "gmapsupp.img" was owerwritten. Can i have more *.img files on my N95, probably need one reg key for each map? Are there any limits of how many maps I can hold on my N95 apart from memory restrictions?

Last, using N95 and XT - are there any datatraffic if I don't choose to connect online for traffic info etc? I will not get any charge from my GSM provider?

Check my previous post on the last page with step-by-step. I was having the exact same issue. You need to get the right serial for your mapset. If you are using NorthAmerica v8, try mapID 171.
Do this by selecting the drop down box in the keygen under "Select Map Product" and select use custom mapset.

There is an app out there called Mapset Toolkit that will show you the mapID number as well.

Anyone know how I can tell if I have different Maps installed correctly on my N95?

I seem to have the UK installed OK as I've just used it to navigate somewhere.

I've also installed Canaries for holidays naming this as GMAPSUPP2.IMG & copying the GMAPSUPP.UNL to GMAPUPP2.UNL but I can't see anyway to check if the map is actually there!

Yes it will work. If you already have v20 install just install v40 or v60, you can keep the SW.UNL and GMAPSUPP.UNL as is.

got it working on n95 but cannot use multiple maps / switch between maps.
Can anyone help? 1st one I have is UK/Ireland City Navigator v9 and it works perfectly (gmapsupp.img + gmapsupp.unl in Garmin folder). Second one is polish map posted earlier in this thread. When I upload this one instead XT won't recognize it. (I removed old gmapsupp.img + gmapsupp.unl and put new gmapsupp.img in garmin folder - readme file for the second map said 'no need to create .unl file, as map is already unlocked). Any ideas? Should I create .unl file for it anyway?

Also, any1 got GPMapa v5 (Poland)?? Can't find it anywhere.

I know that GXT is tied to the card id and I probably will have to start from scratch but I am not sure if I should even take the chance.

I am nort sure if I need to uninstall the entire application from the file manager and than start from scratch. Has any body over here done this. If the application is based solely on the card than I will not need to uninstall any thing from the phone directly,,,, correct?

It;s not tie to the MMC card ID, it's tie to your Unit ID (IMEI#). You can copy everything as is over to the new card and it will work just fine.

I guess now we have 2 opinions regarding the switch. So what you are saying is that copying GXT .40 on tjhe new card is not going to make it work, even if phone is the same. Thats actually an opposite opinion to what others had to say.

hi cc909, i only done this task the other night, was kind of hoping i could just do straight copy from one memory card to another but it didn't work for me, ended up starting again, once i got it up and running on new card i just tried copying over the new sw.unl with the one off my old card just to see if it was linked to the card and it came up trial version on v.60, but replaced it with new sw.unl again and it worked. just thought i'd post how i got it to work hope this helps any one else.

I have installed and unlocked Garmin by following these instructions
1. Download and install Garmin Mobile XT.

2. Launch GMXT, got to Settings -> About.
3. Make note of your "Card ID"
4. Launch the keygen, and enter the "Card ID" you see on GMXT About page.
5. Select Map product and hit the corresponding Generate button to generate both Device & Map unlock key.
NOTE: If your map is not included in the Map product list, select <custom mapset>, enter the corresponding MAPID and hit OK.
5. Copy (CTRL+C) the Device unlock key to clipboard.
6. Now open the Notepad and paste (CTRL+V) the key and save the file as SW.UNL
7. Copy (CTRL+C) the Map unlock key to clipboard.
8. Open the Notepad again and paste (CTRL+V) the key and save the file as GMAPSUPP.UNL
9. Put your newly created files to your SD Card\Garmin directory and restart GMXT.
8. Program should now recognize your built-in GPS (if not use GpsGate set to generic NMEA GPS receiver) and you should be
able to use detailed maps.in the _crack folder.

I then downloaded Garmin XT Europe_v9_Uk_Maps and copied the .img to the Garmin folder and created the unlock file as described above but when I go into Garmin, then browse maps it says NO MAP in bottom right of screen.

If I go to Manage my data - and map sets it says
MetroGuide Europe v9 Belfast, Northern IRELAND, FAIRE ISLE, Scotland, WI.

Does anyone know why I can't view the map, and also does XT Europe_v9_Uk_Maps include England??

have you got the free base map from garmin website link -- http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3645 -- had similar problem just added the free basemap into garmin folder and it worked, also had to go outside and get satelite signal before it would show up uk detail map, as with version .60 on mine, the gps location starts off in taiwan, also another little thing that got me out was when making .unl files, make sure that in your folder options in windows that the hide file extensions for known file types box is unticked otherwise your files would be sw.unl.txt instead of just sw.unl, just making sure cos it caught me out when i first tried to install garmin.

Has anyone managed to get the traffic updates to work via wifi or wap ? mine just says the this option is not available on detailed maps, I've tried the UK map and Europe map neither seem to work.

Also details on the maps are very poor in comparision to Tom Tom or Route66 is this down to the maps I have ?

I have downloaded the keygen by JetMouse, but I failed to generate valid map keys for my Garmin navigation. Is there a way to use it also for this model, or is it just for mobile phones+Garmin XT? I need to unlock Czech Atlas routing map.

(I use MapSource to upload maps. They installed successfully into MapSource, but upon upload to GPS it says "Map is not unlocked for your unit". Keygen asks for a card ID, but what is the card ID in the case of a standalone GPS unit like this one from Garmin?)

Aghhh I bought a new 6GB MicroSD and did a straight copy of all the contents form my old 2GB card (containing th Garmin install) to the new one and now all of a sudden Garmin won't work with my internal GPS on my N82. You'll need to have a dig for it (see above post about getting the MapID). I haven't seen version 2 to date. Wouldn't mind getting a copy, if you can spare it. More than willing to dig the Unit ID out for you.

Depends on the maps ypou have.

If in .img format (eg gmapsupp.img or gmapprom.img etc), then just copy them to the garmin folder, and create the appropriate unl file (gmapsupp.unl or gmapprom.unl etc).

If in Mapsource format (official Garmin maps), then you will need to install it via mapsource. Mapsource will allow you to select the tiles (portion of map) you want, and uploiad it to your MMC. You'll then need to generate the unl file for the gmapsupp.img that mapsource will create on your phone.

The latest version 4.10.60 from Taiwan will have the Taiwan map as part of the installation. When you install, it will ask for map activation (for that Taiwan map). You can chose to activate the map if you need it, or delete it. You can also ignore it, but this error will come up each time you use Garmin, but it will not affect the performance of your activated maps.

Do you have the slider open? The GPS receiver is under the 0 key and it needs to be open in order to get a decent signal. Also, try restarting the phone. I have had an issue that repeats itself randomly where it will lock a GPS signal and then lose it and I can only get it back by restarting the phone

I assume I have to copy them otherwise or put them in another dîrectory

1. Please delete the mdf/mds on your phone!
2. You have to mount the mdf/mds with Alcohol 120% or similar and install the program "mapsource" and the europe map on your pc first.
3. Then you can choose the map area, you want to have on the phone und transfer it to the card/mobile.

But my problem is still to get the internal n95 gps selectable in GarminXT. I tried both the x20 and x60, activate it yia keygen and transfer the SW.UNL into garmin directory. But there are no changes in GarminXT - it tries only to connect via bluetooth and failed after 60sec. No try for the internal gps... :(

.mdf and .mds are compression routines. The files should be mounted, or burnt to a DVD.

If you have a previous version of mapsource installed, then it will update that. If not, you can either go to the file required and install, or find a workaround.

The included key will allow you to open the map on the PC.

From mapsource, select the regions you want, and then send the lot to the MMC or phone.

Mapsource will create the gmapsupp.img file on your phone/MMC. Add the gmapsupp.unl file you create to activate the map

Hey guys so I downloaded Taiwan city navigator and I found the MapID, put the unlock code in to the GMAPSorwhatever.UNL file and I loaded the map onto my phone.

Works? Nope, told me could not unlock so I checked again and realized I go the Map ID wrong. I had to use the keygen to generate a new one. However, it needs your CARD ID also? What's my Card ID? Now when I go to about in Garmin XT, it says UNLOCK ESN. Is that the same as my CArd ID now that I already put in SW.UNL? If it is then that's fine because thats what I typed into my keygen.exe.

Next step I put in the new Map ID and generated a new UNL file. Put it in my phone and I no longer get the unlock maps prompt, so I assume I got my maps unlocked. Then what? It locked onto satellites, gave me my coordinates but when I view map I see nothing. Just yellow. What am I doing wrong? Do you think the map I got was corrupted or am I still not unlocking it? It didn't say anything about unlocking anymore. Can you check if I got hte mapid (297) right for Taiwan City Navigator 8.51?

Follow the instructions carefully. That's exactly what I did. Apparently I DID get everything to work. I finally found 1 post where someone said zoom in a bunch of times and you'll see it. Thats the message..

The code you have is correct for that map. Are you sure you do not have any other maps installed? Garmin 4.10.60 from Taiwan has the Taiwan map included, named gmapprom.img, and it will be installed to your phone. This message will appear if tht second or third map is not unlocked. Delete gmapprom.img if you do not need maps of Taiwan.

Try running the program despite the error and see what gives.

i have a uk map and a base map, done the correct things to unlock the map etc
i can get a view of the map but it sais basemap in the bottom right hand corner, does this mean thats the only map its viewing? or is it the view of both maps??

First post...hope you won't be too harsh. Let me start off by saying that by reading these threads I am under the understanding that with this crack I should be able to use a non-garmin, bluetooth gps with the software on my Treo 755p which runs PalmOs.

Within this thread (and some others) I found downloads for PalmOs software. I assume that, after installation and after setting up sw.unl and GMAPSUPP.UNL with the crack that I have an "external gps" option (use a non-garmin gps). I have tried this many times and certian that I don't have a ".txt" at the end of my files (I work in PC support), but in the end the only option I have is 'internal gps' and a message stating that this software only works with a garmin gps.

I will admit that as of yet I haven't installed the map base or any maps. Could this be my problem? It seems to me that the initial setup (without base or maps) should detect and tell me what type of gps I have...or am I wrong.

To sum up...has anybody got this software to work on a PalmOs device with a non-garmin bluetooth gps? If not then does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Is your slide pad open? If you are getting signal but is weak maybe the slide pas is close or your area jsut does not have good reception.

Voice is part of the Garmin XT package. These can be downloaded from Garmin directly. The link is above.

Maps disc do not have voices on them.

Without a correct sw.unl code, you will get that error message. The Keygen will work for WM and Palm edition of Garmin Mobile XT.

Once you unlock the receiver, then you will need both a basemap and a working map to use the program. Without the basemap, any maps installed (locked or unlocked) will not be work.

Hey guys, followed this thread and got the application working first time and the maps all good too (UK). :O) Well done for all guidance. Reason i went to garmin was cause i had route66 and the maps were OLD and as im in a new build house (built Dec 06) my address wasnt on it. Was hoping with Garmin XT the UK map would have my street but again it suffers the same issue. Is there ANY map thats bang up to date and might have my street? Ironically the only one i can find is the N95s built in satnav, that has my street but you have to pay for the voice etc! :)

You don't even need to redo the SW.UNL and GMAPSUPP.UNL files, just install the newer version and keep the same files, will work still.

Make sure your SW.UNL and GMAPSUPP.UNL DOES NOT have the .txt behind it. Use file manager ON PHONE and look at those two files.

The keygen will generate the unlocking codes. These need to be copied to a file corresponding to the name of your maps, eg gmapsupp.img will need the code in a file titled gmapsupp.unl. Copy the .unl file into the garmin folder on your phone (same folder as the map)

Don't know how I keep getting a wrong sw.unl. I've been using Garmin Mobile XT keygen v1.1 numerous times. I get the option for internal gps...but nothing for my external bluetooth. The only thing I get is the age old message: connection allowed to garmin gps device only.

I have setup a bluetooth connection at my SE M600i with the GPS unit(HOLUX M1000) but when I start Garmin XT and it start to search after GPS units, and it doesn't find anything.

Download and install v.60, go into file manager and locate the sis file
Garmin>Apps>Symbian>Res>click on sis file to install
Now open Garmin XT and do the initial set up.

1. I had downloaded the latest version from else where on this site, I got a folder named "Garmin" with folders like Apps, cache, Font, GPX, Help, jpeg, POI, vehicle, voice and files like GarminMobileXT.sis and gmapbmap.img. Is this the right version?
2. If it is right version do I just replace the existing \Garmin with this new \Garmin? Then I will miss out the .UNL files.

Wow, that's weird :| all the other files download ok via rapidshare, just not those ? And yes javascript is enabled, I've downloaded toms of gigabytes from rapidshare :) so megaupload would be good when you have a minute or 3 . Maybe it's because you put asterisks in the file name possibly ?

It's ok BU . The linik shows the file as having an ending of ***x but I changed it to ***x and it seems to want to work now (when rapidshare decide to let me download some more that is in about another 90 minutes LOL

Grrrrrrr it's something to do with the forum or the forum settings , I typed x x x x (with no spaces) and the forum displays ***x the same as your link ? Weird but it's something else new that I learned today LOL :)

Download and install v.60, go into file manager and locate the sis file
Garmin>Apps>Symbian>Res>click on sis file to install
Now open Garmin XT and do the initial set up.
