hey guys, i have download garmin xt v80
i ve managed to installed to my phone too , the only problem i had was, i couldnt find internal gps option, question is
1-v80 doesnt support internal ( which i dont believe)
2- either i wasnt able to crack that
3- only support bluetooth maybe
has anybody tried that ?

Has any body tried GXT installation on the 8GB N95 with the instructions provided in this forum. I did it on my regular N95 and it works just fine but I was wondering how the installation is going to be in the N95 8GB i.e. with out the micro SD card.

As far as I know with the instructions the application is installed on the card and the Keygen is used for generating card ID codes and stuff, so if there is not a memory card in the 8GB N95, how will the installation proceed.

So what you are saying is that I use that IMEI to GXT/unit/device ID converter first to generate the unit ID and than use that unit ID into the Keygen to generate the SW files.

So to summarize, in 8gb N95 installation once I go to the settings>about, it will show me my phone's IMEI number under the device ID place but I cant use my IMEI number directly in the Keygen, I will have to use the IMEI to device ID calculator first and use that generated ID in the regular Keygen to get the unlock code.

I am not sure if this sounded right??

dude, you r kool, not rude at all, actually I was thinking about getting my reg N95 exchanged with the 8GB n95 and that requires me to send mine back before they send me the replacement.

I just wanted to be sure that I would be able to install GXT on the the 8GB other wise I would not get it exchanged and stick with what I have.

I know it was obvious...........sorry about not specifying earlier.

ok maybe i'm just doing something wrong or i'm getting bad maps...i have garmin 4.10.60 and have the gps unlocked, and i have the world basemap. I guess my problem is with City navigator North america nt 2008. I d/l the 1.12gb file off iso and xfr'd it onto the garmin folder on my memory card. I open up garmin and it only shows the basemap. I try to search for an address and it tell me i need detailed maps for that...

Also with the mapsource and Mapinstall programs that were posted earlier, how do those work? it never lets me select(highlight) a country or location. all i can do is select new waypoints..

Ooops. Should have made it clear. Yes, you use IMEI convertor to generate a Device ID from your IMEI. From there, you plug that number into the Jetmouse Keygen (version 1.3 at present) to get the unlock code.

The iso needs to be either mounted or burnt to a DVD.

All these maps needs mapsource to install to your phone.

Some people rip the img off the phone and post it. If it is in gmapsupp.imp or gmaprom.img format, then it can be copied straight to the phone.

Otherwise, you need to install mapsource, and then open the map on your PC and select the tiles or parts of map you want compiled and sent to your phone as a gmapsupp.img file.

Thanks for all the help guys, have got it working on my n95.


I have the .40 version working but when I downloaded the .60 version and installed it (put the .sis file on the mem card and then installed it from the phone) it installs and works but the screen is a real mess. Instead of the word “back” on the bottom left corner, it says “bridge” and theres all these funny symbols over the screen. But when I install the .40 back over the top it goes back to the .40 working fine. Any ideas??


Also when It comes to address entering, it won’t allow me to enter street numbers. The keypad just wont work for numbers. Anyone got a manual for this product at all??

I used the one posted and it says the maps have been successfully unlocked in the unlock wizard but when it goes back to the mapinstall program it still says map detail locked in the lower right hand corner and wont let me select a map selection...It seems the only way to get the map detail unlocked is to put demo as the unlock code...

You need to use keygen and generate your own GMAPSUPP.UNL and SW.UNL (make sure no .txt behind them) each phone has it's own Unit ID so you cannot use someone elses .UNL files.

Don't get frustrated, it only makes it worse. You need to find the GarminXT(keygen).rar torrent file which is 49.4mb

Here's how I did it just the other day:
1. using these files, I loaded them in order (these came in the GarminXT(keygen).rar file
GarminMobileXTSupportFiles_4***x - install first.exe
GarminMobileXTFreeBasemap_4***x - install second.exe
GarminMobileXTforSymbianS60_41020 - install third.exe

2. Navigate the Garmin folder to find the .sis install file and let it install
3. installed CityNavigator North America V8 on PC
4. Used supplied Serial to Unlock CityNavigator
5. Used GarminXT Keygen to generate Serial for device using CardID from phone in about menu under garmin. Then generate one for the Map, the version of CityNav NA v8 that I had...I couldn't find the MapID number ANYWHERE. I found an application (search for mapset toolkit.zip)that will let you see the mapID in Mapsource and used that. It was 171 for City Navigator North America v8. Put that in the keygen under custom mapset(drop down box in keygen) and it finally unlocked it
6. Wrote SW.UNL and GMAPSUPP.UNL to Garmin dir on phone.

Fired it up and viola...after hours of searching and trial and error this is what worked for me.

finally got mine going on n95 8gb fluke i think wasnt workin then just tried it an hour later at work and it asked me which connection i wanted to use wap ect pressed cancel and all of sudden gps was workin finally after 3 days came home with it lol shame still think route 66 is better early days yet now im gonna ge pois and back up phone while its working lol

I did al that allready. I have n95 and n95 8GB. On n95 it works great. On n95 8gb it is very slow and doesnt get connected to internal gps. It gives me option to use external and internal but when i choose internal it cannot find it

Thanks to this thread, I finally got version 4.10.20 working on my Nokia N82. But I'm not sure how I go about upgrading to v.4.10.60. I've downloaded a file (4.10.60_multilanguage_nokia_.rar) linked to in a previous post in this thread.

Is it as easy as copying the folders and files from this rar-file to my memory card, overwriting what's already in the Garmin-folder, and then executing the <memory card>/Garmin/GarminMobileXT.sis on my phone? Or is there more to it?

I'm new to the whole smart-phone thing. :)

have you had any maps with full detail showing on Garmin XT? If so try putting the original GMAPP.UNL file in the Garmin file on your phone,if this doesn't work sounds like you need to make a new one.

looks like you r doing every thing riht,

my order was a lil different not that its going to make a difference,
1; install xt
2, install support files
3, install base map

unhook usb and got the ID, I tried it both ways, using the device ID from the settings>about menu to create the unlock code and the IMEI to device ID and than use it in the Key Gen.

4, save bith files (sw.unl and gmapsupp.unl) files on the Garmin dir in the card and started the phone to see if it locks on the satellites.
5, install detailed maps, and Woulllla!!!!

You sure there is no .txt? Use phone's file manager ro check not PC. If PC is set to hide known extension you will not see the .txt

Also try using IMEI to Unit ID converter

I have GMAPSUPP.UNL and SW.UNL in the root folder (without txt extension)

If you use both correctly, then the map will unlock.

Errors could come from:
1) Wrong gmapsupp.unl key from using wrong Map ID
2) other maps installed that you have not unlock. Check all the .img files. Apart from basemapp and gmapsupp.img there sould not be others (eg gmapsup2,img or gmapprom.img) in either you card or on the phone itself.

PS - If it is due to situation 2, the maps is fully functional for the maps already unlocked, even though you have not unlocked all the other maps.

Got it working :D Here's what I was doing and what I did to get it to work:

Using KeyGen in the Select Map Product I was choosing: City Navigator North America NT 8.

The key generated would not work.

Using GPSMapEdit, I opened the .img file and used the 3 numbers before the .MDR. This time in KeyGen I chose custom mapset and put in those numbers. THe generated unlock code for that custom set worked! WOOHOO!!!

Seems like a PITA to have to do this everytime I want to generate a new map but hey it works :D

ok here comes the "stupid" question.... I am familiar with TomTom Navigator 6, and there is an option to choose what POI's you want displayed along your route. For example, Rest Rooms (very important when travelling with my wife! hehe). I don't see such a feature in Garmin XT .40? Can someone point me in the right direction.

I have to say that this program has been absolutely amazing so far! The only things I find really annoying are:


You can't control volume with the side volume keys on the phone and instead you have to navigate the menu to turn it up or down... that is really lame!
For some bizarre reason you cannot configure the software for mph AND metres... only mph and yards, or km/h and metres. Very annoying. We don't really use yards here in the UK any more... we use metres for distance and mph for speed so why can't I configure it that way!


However the software is very accurate, and my N82 has no problems picking up a GPS signal very quickly even when not using assisted mode. All in all I give this navware 8.5/10.

I'm running version 4.10.20 by the way. :)

I did copy the SW.UNL and GMAPSUPP.UNL into the GXP folder, which according the keygen IME to ID and ID to passcode as well!

I'm using N70 with Holux Slim236, also DELL PDA with Holux Slim236 receiver as well! both is the same problem, which cannot detect the GPS receiver.

any idea with my problem?

Ps: Using Mapking G10 was working fine with my PDA and holux 236.

Hi I have installed GarminXT and also downloaded maps in my computer. Can someone tell me where to copy maps, voice files and pois ?

cc3 - hook up your Dell PDA to your PC/ Active Synch should start up. Then go into MyComputer and make sure you can access your PDA. Also make sure you have storage card in PDA and you can access that via your PC too.

After confirming the above, install Garmin XT WM version (that's Windows Mobile) and select the Storage Card. Then run the keygen and put the #'s in the SW and gmapsupp unl files. On your storage card there will be a Garmin folder. Copy the unl files to that folder. Next install the free base map then install the base support files that will install voices and help files.

Now turn on your holux gps and your pda. On the PDA turn bluetooth on. Then select Holux and choose connect. You can look in Active Connections to verify the gps and pda are connected.

Once connected, start Garmin XT Mobile on your pda.

Don't have a phone with inernal GPSr. The program works well with both Nokia E61 (S60) and HTC Touch (WM6 PPC) using a MTK GPSr (Bluetooth)

Thanks for all the info on this! Perhaps I have missed something. I got my Nokia N95 8GB yesterday and I can install Garmin XT no problem. Even the UK map works fine. However, I cannot get it to recognise the internal GPS receiver. Within Garmin settings for GPS, it says " Connection allowed to Garmin GPS devices only". If I select 'Pair New GPS' I get a message that says "No GPS devices found. Try again?"

It doesn't matter how many times I try, it just doesn't work! Could this be that I haven't upgraded the firmware? I have checked my position settings and GPS and A-GPS are both enabled. Have I missed something else? I really want to try this out!!!

But my N70 still able to solve.

I do verifies the about is shown ime # not card id, is that I did some thing wrong?

The problem is that I can't get the garmin to display the map at all... it's just a blank with a triangle although I've installed the free maps (they've got a free version in malsingmaps for beginners)

With basemap and an unlocked map (or free map), you will need to fire up your GPSr in the map's coverage area for road etc to start showing. Otherwise, it defaults to areas that you may not have a map for, eg Europe.

Alternatively, you can also zoom out until you can see the areas with map, and the move the cursor over the area before zooming in.

This error will result if you have incorrect sw.unl in your garmin folder. Without the sw.unl file, the program will only work with a Garmin receiver.

The GPSr (internal or external) has not locked onto any satellites yet. Wait a while longer outdoors. If yours is a slide phone, and you are using the internal GPSr, then slide the phone open.

Just copy the gmapsupp.img tto the garmin folder on your mmc. You will then need to use the keygen to calculate an unlock code for the map. Save it as gmapsupp.unl in same garmin folder.

Can someone please provide new link for the LATEST VERSION available here and ALSO the LATEST VERSION OF UK/EUROPE map. I'm sure many will find it useful... I've heard if you don't have the latest version maps the navigation over roundabouts is not very good. It treats it like a cross junction instead of a roundabout and tells you to turn left instead of going straight over or take the 2nd exit etc.

The unlock key was incorrect you have to redo the unl par using the keygen ... and once you do that check in GPS remote you will find 2 options...select 2

The most common problem is with creating/saving the UNL files. Follow this instruction:

Open Notepad
Type or Paste in your key
Click on File | Save
Type in the file name: SW.UNL or GMAPSUPP.UNL
In the Save As Type box change Text documents (txt) to All Files
Click on Save

The above will save your files without appending the txt extension

Thanks to BUMobiles I am now able to use this. Fantastic!

However, I have to be honest and say that I am very disappointed with the software. If I go off route it does not auto re-route like it should. Where is the post code search feature? I am using UK map NT Europe 9 and the latest version of Mobile XT.

The tracking is also extremely laggy and the movement juddery. I am somewhat disappointed by the software, but I thank the guys on here for helping me to get it to work ;)

Think im doing something wrong as i am unable to install Garmin_Mobile_XT__Symbian_S60_v4[1].10.20 When i click on the set up file i get a message saying UserData.dll was not found but i can install the later .60 version. I'm in the midst of looking for one, but I'm affraid that I can't get it to work or if it's not worthwhile for me to invest in one.

It will give you a WARNING when you are near a speed camera. Not necessary but good to have.:D

Nope - haven't had detailed maps yet.

I uninstalled everything and started over. Here's what I did:

1) Install Mobile XT: GarminMobileXTforWindowsMobile_41040w
- chose storage card
2) Start Garmin, look in About and get ID
3) run KeyGen:
- Calculate the key and create your sw.unl file
- Calculate the key and create your GMAPSUPP.UNL
chose City Navigator North America NT 2008
- Copied 2 above files to Garmin Root of storage Card (no .txt)
4) Install base map: GarminMobileXTFreeBasemap_4***x.exe
- gmapbmap.img was installed
5) Garmin MapSource - choose a couple states then transfer
Start application and get:
Can't unlock maps for garmen device with unit id: ******xx - OK

Obviously doing something wrong but have no idea what.

I tried running KeyGen, put in my Devide ID, generate new numbers (everytime generates new numbers) I get same results.

Ideas?


Hi everyone, just joined today, and this is my 3rd site trying to get this to work on my N82, ive read pretty much everything in this thread, and the reason im quoting this is because ive pretty much done everything this user did, my problem is that when i try to transfer maps to my phone, theyre constantly being transferred in DEMO MODE, i was told previously that i should be able to enter an unlock code in the ABOUT section where the UNLOCK ESN is found, but im not able to unlock anything from there, i dont know waht to do, ive been at this for a month, so please, any help will be greatly appreciated, as i cant figure out why its DEMO ONLY when ive followed the instructions properly

Garmin4.10.60 from Taiwan has demo time limitation on it, but once you enter the sw.unl key, it unlocks the program to work beyond the time limit. you need to generate a new device unlock code,

try formatting memory card, factory reset phone, install garmix xt, generate unlock code (this should work :))

Some have reported problems with it though.

The Version .40 update for Garmin XT will speed it up significantly.

Might also use smaller maps, ie use mapsource and select the state you want only... Same keys will work

Ok, so I'm hoping someone here can help me out with this, as I can't find a solution to my problem.

My device is a WM6 PDA. I installed Garmin Mobile XT (ver. 4.10.40wp) with no issues. I easily got it working with my internal GPSr. I have the basemap installed, which shows my correct position/speed/direction/etc.

I'm trying to get some detailed North American maps installed. I downloaded and installed the MapSource City Navigator North America NT 2008, with no issues. I go into MapSource, select my areas, and click on the transfer to device option. I get the 'send to device' dialog box which finds my device, but is then quickly replaced with an error message (see attachment for screen shot).

I've tried this on two seperate PC's, and I've reinstalled Garmin Mobile on my device multiple times. Same issue every time.

If anyone can help me with this, I would be very grateful. I've looked online and cannot find any solutions to this problem. Or if someone knows where I can get the IMG files for North America, or if there's another way to transfer these maps to my device.

I've noticed a couple things when generating maps. If I have a map installed (excluding the base map) then I error out when trying to transfer a new map. I need to manually copy the map from my pda to pc then delete it on the pda. Then mapsource will transfer successfully.

2nd, maps are quite large. You sure you have enough free space on your storage card?

I haven't found a way to have mapsource install the map files on the pc allowing you to manually transfer them.

must remote all the garmin files, and install 4.10.20 then install 4.10.40 or 4.10.60. if direct install 4.10.60 sure doesn't work! that what I find out.

Hi All,
For N95 8gb users, specialy those who disconnect often from satelites, try the following:
(It works for all GPS app: Garmin, Sygic....)
Before start any of your GPS app, go to Tools>connectivity>GPS data,
click options>positioning settings, make sure that only "integrated GPS" &"Network based" are checked (do not check "Bluetooth GPS" & " Assisted GPS")
After that, go back and click on postion, click option>satelite status, wait till have connection to satellite (sure you have to be in open area)
after receiving signals, and without exiting from the GPS data menu, go to your app and start it. I assure to you that it will never disconnect (also it will be better if you open your slide)
Hope that this will many problems (IT RESOLVE MINE, AFTER A LOT OF SEARCHING)

Did you use keygen to generate the SW.UNL file? If so make sure it does not have the .txt behind it. Use file manager on phone, go into the garmin folder and look at the SW.UNL and GMAPSUPP.UNL file.

Canada is part of the North America map, use map installer to chop it up and only load Canada instead of the whole thing.

Did you use keygen to generate the SW.UNL file? If so make sure it does not have the .txt behind it. Use file manager on phone, go into the garmin folder and look at the SW.UNL and GMAPSUPP.UNL file.

It's only until I had posted that, I realised that I hadnt even created the SW.UNL file. So once that was sorted. It worked. Just a damn shame about certain things. I guess I'm a sucker for TomTom. If they could only hurry up with a release that will utilise the intergral gps... ;)

Should never see the expired message with Version 4.10.20. Not sure why you are getting it.

The unlock codes is the same for the same device ID. If the MMC and hardware remains unchanged, there is no need to recalculate the sw.unl codes again.

well, i dont actually see anythign that says anything is expired, unless seeing DEMO ONLY means that it has expired, i will try it again, and see waht happens, just got a new memory card today, hopefully, it works

I have seen it before? But I wish I could remember, Don't know if it is linked too maps, Or Program Version???
I' did try UK only & City Navigator Europe NT 2008
Both seem to be missing Postcodes,
