For those m8s using Vista ops you will face a problem in creating the sw.unl file :eek:as it took us hours me and my new buddy on this forum ( ataralgin ) for which I thank him for his time and effort in resolving the problem..the thing is when you creat the sw.unl file, Garmin XT will never locate your built in GPS for the Nokia N95 8GB, as the created file is 51 bytes and it should be 25 bytes :D ..so the best thing is to creat the file using Win XP as Vista note pad differes ...dont know why

So if you face such prob...XP is the solution for the sw.unl file ..and make sure to remove the TXT extension from within the phone using file manager.

Hope this info would help Vista users and will not suffer as I did :D

Does Wista not support the "Command Prompt" ??

Just go to folder and type : ren sw.unl.txt sw.unl

using vista and creating un.swl is not a problem

1, create a txt file by right mouse clicking and selecting new, text document
2, call it sw.unl
3, click on it and open it with notepad
4, enter your unlock code
5, click save as, select ansi from the combo box, then press save :D
Easy to do so for such a wizard like you :D it took me hours to do so:)..

what about the map Q i posted above...

Thanks for the link but I have already downloaded this one I'm guessing the European vesion as TW is the only other one there.

And it is in chinese,TW,Japanese (Guessing here) and English but the about Garmin it shows TW, not UK or Europe, and all updates fuel, hotels etc are all for TW.

The TW does work on my phone for directions sat nav etc. but traffic petrol & other online services are all for TW other than weather ??

Does this version provide these online services for the UK/Europe ? or am I fighting a lossing battle here ?

Thanks

Hey guys - I did have one more question. Once I get the map file uploaded on to my memory card do I need to do anything else to make sure the points of interest are there? or are they automatically part of that map file? The torrent I'm downloading has a bunch of files that are being downloaded with it. Does anyone know what I should do with this huge file? Do I drop the entire download into the "Garmin" folder on the memory card? Or just the map image file?

Thanks a lot in advance :)

Hey all,

Just wanted to put a public THANK YOU out there for everyone that helped me out :) I really appreciate everything!

I am happy to say that after a few days of messing with this, I finally got everything to go through. Garmin XT works perfectly on my Nokia N95-3 :):):) Best thing was I didn't even have to upload the entire map file to my memory card. With that map selector tool I was able to choose what I wanted, so that rocked ^_^

For anyone else who is stuck, just have patience and you'll get it. If anyone needs help with any of the North American map stuff or general setup let me know^^ I'll try to help however I can!

Take care all,
~Sojourn

Hey guys, first post for me!

I noticed a few other people were having problems with unlocking the CN Australian 2008 map that was linked earlier on in this thread - I couldn't get it working either.

The map I downloaded from here was approx 105 MB, and had ID of 272. I tried and retried generating the unlock key as per instructions posted here but could not unlock it.

I went on the hunt and grabbed the full Garmin MapSource City Navigator Australia 2008, loaded up on PC, then sent all maps included in Aus to my phone (obviously after installing XT and unlocking internal GPS device as per instructions posted here). The map ID of the file created on my phone is actually 271 (and file size ended up about 150MB), which I was able to successfully generate an unlock key, and finally get it all up and running!

SO... in short, if you are having probs unlocking the Australia 2008 maps, do a torrent search for the full MapSource City Navigator Australia 2008!

Cheers,

p1st0l

Hi,

I have tried various Australian maps, and I have just installed and unlocked on my PC the MapSource application. How do you get the maps onto the phone from the MapSource application?

I thought I would out line further what I have been attempting:

I have downloaded the following Australian maps:

Garmin City Navigator Australia NT 2008-ShareAll.rar

Garmin MapSource City Navigator Australia 2008.rar

Garmin Mapsource City Navigator Australia 2008-ShareAll.rar

I used the following key gen to unlock the GPS/Card in my phone (N82) and try to unlock the maps.

Garmin Mobile XT Keygen v1.1

I have successfully unlocked GPS/Card by using the key gen and created the sw.unl file explained throughout thread.

In the /Garmin directory on the SD card on my phone I have the sw.unl file that I have added plus an img file that I believe is an australian base map called gmapbmap.img.

With the key gen, I have been using MAP ID: 271 for all three of the above maps, I then generated the key and paste it into a file called gmapprom.unl, and then copy that into /Garmin directory along with the sw.unl plus the gmapprom.img file from either one of the above three maps.

I then restart the phone, open up Garmin XT, and I am asked to unlock the maps???

I have checked the file extensions, and there is no .txt at the end.

I have also installed the mapsource app on my PC and have successfully unlocked it but not sure what steps to take next to get any working maps back to the phone.

Hope this sheds some light on my issue, would really like to get this working!

Thanks in advance

...stuff...

It took me some time to figure it out, basically the instructions given are slightly incorrect.

1. Install Garmin XT as usual.
2. create the two files using the keygen
3. copy the 2 files plus the map into Garmin folder.

Note1: Use the Australia NT 2008 map, the Map ID is 272.
Note2: Here's the catch. Do not use the Client ID number, use the Garmin IMEI number, also called Unlock ESN:

NOTE: Use Garmin IMEI number, not your actual phone IMEI number.

I have tried various Australian maps, and I have just installed and unlocked on my PC the MapSource application. How do you get the maps onto the phone from the MapSource application?
From within the maps visible in Mapsource, you select the 'tiles' that you want (left click; or click, hold and drag). This will highlight your tiles. After that , it is a matter of selecting transfer from menu and send to device. If you want the lot, left click at one corner, hold and drag across map.

The latter will automatically search any MMC or phone your PC can access and give you the option where to send it and what to call it (gmapprom, gmapsupp or gmapsup2).

Generate your appropriate unl depending on how you named the map.

Map ID for Australia V8 is 272.

Have a read of the first 2 pages of this thread. All instructions is listed there.

The keygen to unlock software and maps runs only in Windows

I have successfully unlocked GPS/Card by using the key gen and created the sw.unl file explained throughout thread.
Program unlocked successfully.
I have added plus an img file that I believe is an australian base map called gmapbmap.img.That is the world base map - non routable.

I have been using MAP ID: 271 for all three of the above mapsAustralia 2008 NT ID is 272 hence you errors

I have also installed the mapsource app on my PC and have successfully unlocked it but not sure what steps to take next to get any working maps back to the phone. You need to select the tiles of the map and use mapsource to transfer it to your device or MMC. The maps can be named gmapprom (if sent to your phone internal memory), gmapsupp.img or gmapsup2.img (to MMC). Your unlock keys need to be named to correspond to your name of map used, ie gmapprom.unl for gmapprom.img, gmapsupp.unl for gmapsupp.img and gmapsup2.unl for gmapsup2.img.

Ozling
04-01-2008, 01:24
I wanted to have a look on the second map that I dld to my phone but its not there

Maps need to named gmapprom.img (if in phone's internal memory) or gmapsupp.img or gmapsup2.img.

The unlock coded need to be named correspondingly, ie gmapprom.unl, gmapsupp.unl or gmapsup2.unl.

Once you GPSr is on and a signal received, the appropriate map will be selected.

I love Garwin!

Remove all the junk you do not need, e.g. voice files you do not need. Help files you do not need to make it smaller.

I copy all my MMC Nokia N95-8GB data to my other drive like this:

D:\Removable Drive

\Garwin
\Cities\
\Images
\Music

Etc.

Then i delete ALL data on the MMC, format the phone and just copy past it back again with the usb connection.

It is like working with an pc image as ghost.

So now i have Garwin running, Europe map Holland activated and installed (just 1 .img in Garwin dir)

Like for the correct keygen for Garwin! Not version 1.1 or 1.0 but you need 1.3! KG.

1. install latest update Garmin_Mobile_XT_4.10.80. From the site, lookin Updates (it is a full version installer)
2. Clear space on the MMC
3. Connect the fone
4. Install Garwin Mobile Update
5. Copy Past the Help and Voice files from the .rar on the MMC main dir. / route.
-----> start Garwin on fone to get the CardID
5. Create unlock code with keygen version 1.3 <-- 1. for the software, 1 for the map.
6. Copy the unlock app code in a file called Sw.unl (SoftWareUnlock ; )
7. Copy the unlock map code in a file called Gmapsupp.unl (GeneralMapSupportUnlock ; ) )
8. Copy / move the 2 files to MMC in the Dir Garwin.

9 Start fone / install / done

I have no idea but i start liking Garwin more than nokia maps. well nokia maps is nice but useless without voice.

Firmware (folder)
Voice (folder)
SW.UNL
GMAPSUPP.UNL
gmapbmap.img (instaled with freebasemap)
GMAPSUPP.IMG (Paris, loaded with MapSource)

1) I used Garmin Imei converter to get my garmin ID
2) put this garmin ID in Garmin Keygen 1.3 to get my SW.UNL code (have copied and past this code in the SW.UNL, 25 digits code)
3) generated the maps unlock code (have copied and past this code in the GMAPSUPP.UNL, 25 digits code)
4) have copied those 2 files GMAPSUPP.UNL and SW.UNL in my garmin folder on Memorycard

have everything working fine except that the phone ask me for an unlock code for the maps...??? do I have to put a map ID somewhere (on the GMAPSUPP.UNL with the 25 digits code ?)

did something wrong.... please help.. i'm sure i'm not fare from get it working, but very frustrating for the moment..

Hi,
I must be a real dumbo,

I have this map Australia City Navigator NT 2008 and I have used the map unlock code but it keeps asking me to unlock the map with a 25 number key.
What have I done wrong??

Also when starting Garmin do you always have to accept the warning?

Cheers

I think you must be or simply one of many affected by the "lazy" gene.
Is it that hard to scroll up a few posts to read your answer?

If you need further help let me know. I'll come over and do it for you, however it won't be free.

If you are getting this, are you able to use the program to look at the maps?

If not, then the problem could be:
1) Incorrect unlock code entered in your .unl file
2) Maps not imported with Mapsource, ie gmapsupp.img copied directly to your device.

The latter surfaced recently, with the latest release of Garmin Mobile XT. Garmin maps needs to be unlocked to enable browsing on a PC with Mapsource, and unlocked again to run on your phone or PNA.

Some of the maps made available on the net are only in the gmapsupp.img format - being ripped off a device. These contain the unlock codes for that device only. These would also lack a full unlock code for both the PC and other PNA/phones.

Using the keygen, you'll only get one set of unlock codes, and you'll keep encountering the same error.

BTW, one can use Mapsource to add the unlock codes generated with keygen to the maps directly. These maps would only be device specific and would not need the corresponding unl file.

Why not just enter the generated code in Mapsource (Under utilities>Unlock map). That would ensure the maps are unlocked for your device, and you would not have to mess around with gmapsupp.unl.

If it still not working, then you have entered a wrong MapID for the keygen.

Dear Ozling,
The generated key that we unlocked the map with using the mapSource can it be used in the gmapsupp.unl or we need to generate a new key ?
One more thing...a firend of mine has a Garmin nuvi 660 loaded with original Europe map....can we use the same method that we are using in the Garmin XT to add more maps to his Garmin nuvi 660 ?
a million thanx in advance

The generated key that we unlocked the map with using the mapSource can it be used in the gmapsupp.unl or we need to generate a new key ?
Generate the code in your keygen with your device ID number, and enter the code in mapsource. It will automatically add it to the appropriate map, and unlock it for your device. It is the same key for your gmapsupp.unl.

Can we use the same method that we are using in the Garmin XT to add more maps to his Garmin nuvi 660?With Mapsource, you can load as many maps as you want. eg. Load USA and Europe maps in MapSource. Generate unlock keys for both. Enter the keys. From there, you can select any or part of each map and send it to your device in omne go. All the areas selected will be in your custom gmapsupp.img that Mapsource sent, and it will be unlocked for your device already. If memory of MMC permit, you can load the entire world's map, unlocked, to your phone.

Generate the code in your keygen with your device ID number, and enter the code in mapsource. It will automatically add it to the appropriate map, and unlock it for your device. It is the same key for your gmapsupp.unl.

With Mapsource, you can load as many maps as you want. eg. Load USA and Europe maps in MapSource. Generate unlock keys for both. Enter the keys. I tried it with the approach but it did not work.

I tried to use the Key generated with the Keygen with my device ID in the top box and the respective map in the bottom, but some how Mapsource did not take the generated key. It only took the original Key that came with the Map.

I dont know if it might be due to the fact that the Maps were already unlocked with the oriignal Key in the Map unlocking wizard. It would be nice though to not have to generate UNL files by using the approach you mentioned but its not working for me.

I have 3 map sets on my unit and it took me a little while to figure it out. It seemed that every time, Map source transferred Maps to my device it "named" it in GMAPSUPP, even though I already had gmapsupp in th elist since I had 2 maps sets already installed.

@ fredblogs creat a folder and name it (Vehicle) without the barackets, then icopy all the pointers there, after that when you go into to settings, map and option vehicle, you will see all the differnt vecicles to choose from.

I tried a blue car but it showd off the road but normal pointer (arrow) was on road, will try others.

UnRAR the first file. RAR is a compression routine, and it will allow you to split the packed files into multiple parts.

I tried to use the Key generated with the Keygen with my device ID in the top box and the respective map in the bottom, but some how Mapsource did not take the generated key. It only took the original Key that came with the Map.

There's one key 'supplied' with the CD/DVD, and that is to unlock the maps for your PC. Once the map is unlocked and installed on your PC, you can use MapSource unlocking wizard (Mapsource menu Utilties>Unlock) to enter any generated unl and this will be added to the appropriate maps.

This will work (?only) with official Garmin maps.

I dont know if it might be due to the fact that the Maps were already unlocked with the original Key in the Map unlocking wizard.

If you can see maps in Mapsource in detail, then just add the generated unlock keys.

What version Garmin XT are you using? The program can only hold so many icons. If yo load too much it will freeze/shutdown. Delete some icons you feel you don't need. Also the official 4.10.80 version work better than the Taiwan version.

ADDING UNLOCK CODES TO MAPS

For those who needs to juggle several maps, please:
1) Find your device ID (or MMC ID)
2) Generate the unlocking maps keys
3) Install the maps on your PC with Mapsource

Use Mapsource:
The maps, once installed, should be visible in Mapsource
Select from its menu Utilities>Unlock Map
Enter your generated codes.
Repeat for as many maps as you need, or for as many devices as you need. This will add the unlock codes to your maps
Select the tiles you want for the maps, change maps, and select etc.
Transfer the entire lot selected to your device.
It will be saved as GMAPSUPP.IMG and it will all be unlocked.
If you get an error message, it means incorrect unlock code for one or mode of the maps in your exported file.

Using GMapTool
This needs to be used from a command line level, and will work on .img only.
Put GMAPtool and your .img in one folder for ease of use.
1) Type 'CMD' from Windows Start>Run (leave out the apostrope) to get your DOS window.
2) Navigate down to the folder with Gmaptool and maps
3) Type 'GMapTool -i' (Leave out apostrophe for info on map, including MAP ID, and any unlocking codes)
2) Type 'GMapTool -U <CODE>' (Leave out apostrophe. Enter your generated CODE in the place of <CODE>)
3) Check with 'GMapTool -i' again (leave out the apostrophe)
The unlock codes will all be added to the maps for your device.

GMapTool can also be used (like Mapsource) to combine or join maps together.

If you have donwloaded GMAPSUPP.IMG files, and lack the unlock keys to display it with Mapsource, then you only have GMaptool to rely on.

2 sets of unlock codes needed:
1) One to allow the files to be used and seen on the PC (Mapsource)
2) One to allow the Garmin XT to use it.

If the first is entered, you can see the map in Mapsource. From there, you can select the tiles (or part of maps you want) to transfer the map to your phone.

If you entered you generated unlock codes for your phone at Mapsource, then once the transfer is complete, the map will be unlocked and usable from your device/phone.

If you have not entered the generated code, then you will need to create a file named gmapsupp.unl, enter the generated unlock codes and then send the file to your device.

If you have done all properly, once you start Garmin XT on your phone, you will not get the prompt to enter an unlock code.

I also used the POI loader to convert UK speed cams for TomTom posted earlier in this thread by BU to fixed the 19MPH problem I had and I've attached a copy to help others.

By the way, thanks BU.

Quite frankly the installation and troubleshooting steps are simple if one has the correct software, maps, poi's and guides to use.

I took time to read the whole of this thread but I can understand most people may not have time to do the same; clearly in spite of the good work by guys like BU, it can still be a bit confusing getting the correct information because of the lenght of the thread.

Quite often some advise in earlier posts get superceded as you read on, and even software versions change. I think a stickied index thread with links to software, FAQ's and troubleshooting guides, set aside from a request thread will cut down on confusion and repetitive queries.

Hey guys,

haven't been on here in a while... Just wondering if someone can please help me out.

Basically I need to reinstall Garmin on my Nokia 6110 Navigator as my memory card went weird lol.

Freaking out as I will be off to Europe in a weeks time and am relying on my Trusty Garmin to get me around.

I heard there's a new version of Garmin (4.10.80) and new maps for both UK and the rest of Europe.

Now I have tried to find all the apps myself but, my browsers (I.E. F.F.) keep crashing after a couple min of use. (something else I'm trying to fix)

If anyone can please help me out by posting a link the to new version of Garmin and the latest UK and Europe Maps to go with it I will be Extremely Grateful!!

Thanks Again!

BU - thanks for the offer but I seem to have managed to get it working!!! at last!!! the difference this time was I simply run the XT installer and then dragged and dropped all the prepared files into the garmin folder. I then disconnected form the computer and installed XT. I then rebooted the phone and it worked first time.

Maybe this is something everyone is missing??? thanks again anyway and thanks for the links....

Take a look at your SW.UNL and GMAPSUPP.UNL files, make sure it DOES NOT have the .txt extension behind it. You can use phone's file manager to look at them or on PC you must chose to let the PC show Known file extension.

For ALL WHO CANT UNLOCK MAPS,NO NEED HEX EDITOR TO FIND MAP I.D.

JUST DO THIS...

INSTALL GARMIN IN PHONE,THEN GO IN GARMIN MENU TO SETTINGS/ABOUT/CONTENT....THEN YOU SHOULD SEE SOMETHING LIKE "2007, LIC_1234,Avnic ID 1234"

1234 = MAP I.D

Just use free calculator to calculate correct code for maps

So I had to reinstall my GXT on the bigger memory card since I was running out of space on the original. The strangest thing has happened now, I was getting all the features of Garmin Online including weather and traffic and now after redoing the whole thing again exactly the same way on a different card, the online features have stopped working.

I have version 40 and I used 2009 maps, I cant think of a reason why, my acccess points and data settings are the same.

Any input??

I know this was posted some where in this forum but I can not seem to find the answer.

I know with mapsource (if you have maps unlocked on your pc either with the key or G unlocker) you can get different tiles from different map sets exported to the unit in a single gmapsupp.img file, e.g, take some from NA NT 2009 plus some from Europe NT and export it to the unit.

THe question is, what UNL file do I have to generate for the unit, as in with the NA map or Europe map and what do I name it, since both mapsets will be exported in one supp.img.

Map leave in gmapsupp.img file, generate two unlock keys for each mapset, which is inside and put them into GMAPSUPP.UNL.
This way:
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzyyyyyyyyyyyyy

where
z...z key is for one mapset and y...y for another.

1x edit.

Hi,

I think I need some help, and having read through many of the posts... I'm somewhat confused!

1) I have installed the Garmin software on my N95.

2) I downloaded the BuMobiles maps - and ran the unlocker for the codes etc

3) saved as the UNL files (not with .txt)...

I have started up Garmin, but it doesn't seem to find either the map, or the internal GPS - what am I doing wrong?

I have stored everything in the Garmin file on the memory card, is this correct?

I'm sure the answer is somewhere in the 10000000 threads created on this, but can someone either PM or respond to give me an idea as to where I am going wrong!!!!!!!!

Much appreciated!!!

placed them in the garmin root directory of my 6110 along with the voice and help folders; sotheyve all gone into the root garmin dir and when i load garmin

BuMobiles - I have done everything you have suggested, in exactly that order.

I have never done the whole "unlocking sat nav" thing before, maybe I'm just not meant to!

I installed on mobile - works fine
I downloaded maps - id 284 - put it into the Garmin folder
Used the IMEI converter - to then get my unit ID - which then gets me the device unlock code - Making the SW.UNL file - what text format is this meant to be?? (Unicode is what I used!)

I then typed in map ID = 284 to create the map unlock code - which is the GMAPSUPP.UNL (again in unicode).

Both the above saved into the Garmin folder on Memory card.

Run the program on mobile..... and it comes up - unable to unlock maps

Tried going into the settings to change to internal GPS - doesn't give me the option to do so, only the option of pairing a new external GPS (Garmin device).

I can't get any further than that....

If you can help - please please please do so!

If nobody can help - I will give up and use my ****ty navman unit instead, but really wanted to use the Garmin thing on phone!!!

Hope you can help!

Thanks.

dont save in unicode, just save as type = all files, not text documents (*.txt) then when you type sw.unl it will save as sw.unl and will work, do the same for the map and you wil work. thats were i went wrong anyway sounds like your doing the same thing wrong.

The North America NT is only about 1G total including Canada.
If you use Map Installer you can chop it up to only the section you want.

I think you are looking at the regular NA maps not NT.

i do not know what sw.unl calculations are.
Garmin Mobile XT will search for a Garmin GPS receiver only, if you do not have a proper unlocking code for the program. The code is calculated, and stored in a file, sw.unl, in your Garmin folder. See start of this thread for all the instructions on how to calculate this unlock code.

Is it possible to show real-time distance to target/goal when navigating? I have tested both topo maps, selected "walking" and "offroad" before doing a calculation of a route... but there are'nt any choice of viewing distance, just speed.

The names are a function of the map providers and how they choose to label the roads. From experience, with Malsing maps, it is better to select Food,Hotels>Spell Name rather than use the address to find locations. If the latter is used, the suburbs naming system will often give no result on searches.

Can someone point me in the direction of the latest version of the install files for Garmin Mobile XT on an N95 and to the North American maps? I've downloaded the NT2008 files (all 1.2 gb of them) posted by titan05 on like page 16 of this thread, but it seems that they work only when you've already installed GXT on your computer. Here's my problem though. My phone will get a signal, and lock onto the satellites, but the maps aren't loaded correctly or something, because the screen is black and says "no maps" even though I have a lock. I know the maps are on my device, because they're taking up 1.2 gb of memory... how do I get the program to recognize them?

Make sure you external GPS has been paired with your phone via bluetooth first.

This is in the bluetooth under settings for your phone.

To test pairing, turn on the GPSr outdoors, then your phone. Use the built in Nokia utilities, called location (I think), and check that you are getting a GPS lock. If all is well, then run Garmin.

i launch to program, only to find that I still get the start-up screen asking me to register the program!!!
Registration of program or question about entering unlock keys for maps.

If you are getting the program question, then you could have downloaded a demo version - some earlier versions from Taiwan has a time limit on it.

If you are getting a question about entering unlocking for maps, then one or more of the maps has not been unlocked properly.

Do note, if you are installing .img maps as a straight copy, ensure that the .img only has one area or country that needs unlocking. Someone could combine multiple maps into one .img, and these will reuqire more than one code to fully unlock.

Get the Garmin files from Garmin directly:
http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=010-11034-00

1) Connect your phone to PC, and then run:
a) Garmin Mobile XT - follow prompts and select your phone as location for installation.
b) Garmin Basemap
c) Garmin extras for voice prompts etc.

2) Run Garmin on your phone.
3) Get your Device ID.
4) Generate your sw.unl code.
5) Run Mapsource, and install the maps on your PC.
6) Generate your unlock code for map for your device.
7) From within Mapsource, enter the unlock codes via the menu Utilities>unlock maps. This will unlock the map for your device.
8) Select the areas you want, and send it to your phone.

If you don't want to muck about with Mapsource, you can always generate the map unlock codes and save it in the corresponding gmapsupp.unl or gmapsup2.unl

Thanks Ozling for the updated info.

How do I obtain my device ID? From experience when cracking my standalone GPS, I needed an external card and the only way to accurately determine the id, I had to insert the SD card in the Garmin itself. No app that I could find would be able to accurately determine the card ID unless I viewed it in my Nuvi. Suffice to say, the N95-4 has no card slot--no external memory.

BTW, I didn't see the 4.60 version of Garmin XT in the below link for the Nokian N95, which files should be downloaded?

Also. The files look incomplete, where do you get the apps to run the GArmin Mobile XT (have to have old base version according to site), voice files and help files??:

"Notes:
This download contains a free non-routable basemap for use with the Garmin Mobile XT application for Windows Mobile, Palm or Symbian OS software.
This download does NOT contain the application files required to run Garmin Mobile XT. Select the appropriate download for your device from the Updates and Downloads page (ie. Palm, Symbian or Windows Mobile) and add these files to your SD card.

http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3939

You must have a previous version of the XT software installed on your SD card to have all of the help files, voice files and basemap files. These are not included with this update.

Ok, I don't have the detailed instructions on this, but looking at your post I see it's not complete. What's invalid, what's your error message? What did you do, etc. I think you need to include all this info so the experienced users can help you.

BTW, how did you get your card id? Are you using an N95-4 with an external memory card?

ARe you sure about that? jetmouse is the only keygen that can be used to unlock the maps and transfer them onto a garmin. you will need an external card as well and copy the maps to that. use the Jetmouse keygen and get the SD card unit Id from your Nuvi and enter that into the keygen before you begin the transfer process. U should also have the PC map unlock code that came with the s/w that you downloaded.

Here are some more instructions for the N95, as you can see this is for units that let you identify the card ID, special thanks go to Titan:

1. Download from these locations the files

A) Garmin: Garmin Mobile XT Support Files Updates & Downloads (http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3493) - that are Voices and Supports
B) Garmin: Garmin Mobile XT Free Basemap Updates & Downloads (http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3645) - that are Basemaps
C) Garmin: Garmin Mobile XT for Symbian S60 Updates & Downloads (http://www.garmin.com/software/GarminMobileXTforSymbianS60_41080.exe) - that is the Application Garmin Mobile XT (javascript:void(0)) Ver. 4.10.80 (Multilanguage)

and install them (possibly in this order)
then follow this instructions:

"
2. Launch GMXT, got to Settings -> About.

3. Make note of your "Card ID"

4. Launch the k e y g e n, and enter the "Card ID" you see on GMXT About page.

5. Select Map product and hit the corresponding Generate button to generate both Device & Map unlock key.

NOTE: If your map is not included in the Map product list, select <custom mapset>, enter the corresponding MAPID and hit OK.

5. Copy (CTRL+C) the Device unlock key to clipboard (javascript:void(0)).

6. Now open the Notepad and paste (CTRL+V) the key and save the file as SW.UNL

7. Copy (CTRL+C) the Map unlock key to clipboard.

8. Open the Notepad again and paste (CTRL+V) the key and save the file as GMAPSUPP.UNL

9. Put your newly created files to your SD Card\Garmin (javascript:void(0)) directory and restart GMXT.

10. Program should now recognize your built-in GPS (javascript:void(0)) (if not go to settings\system and choose "connected gps (javascript:void(0))") and you should be
able to use detailed maps.

NOTE: This keygen is not yet compatible with Garmin (javascript:void(0)) MapSource application. To see maps in the MapSource, use the key provided

How do I obtain my device ID?
Start the program, cancel any errors, and go to Settings>About. It'll list either the IMEI or a DEvice/Card ID. If it lists the IMEI, then you'll need the IMEI converter. Any others, just insert that into the keygen.

The files look incomplete, where do you get the apps to run the GArmin Mobile XT (have to have old base version according to site), voice files and help files?? The total lot can be made up of all the three listed files:
1) Mobile XT - The program
2) Basemap - The basemap
3) Support - The voice files etc.

Just download all 3 and install each one.

ARe you sure about that? jetmouse is the only keygen that can be used to unlock the maps and transfer them onto a garmin.

Not quite. You can install all the Mapsource files on your PC, Obtain Garmin Unlocker, run it, and it'll unlock all the Mapsource maps (with exception of the sea ones, topo, and special maps) for any device permanently.

when i hopen the program it tells me i need a code again.
This means one or more of the maps have not been unlocked for your device. You'll need to figure out which, generate the code, and unlock it.

Be careful with mapsource. You can accidentally select section of a map, switch map, and make more selection and then send the lot to your device. As a result, more than one unlocking code is needed.

Better to just unlock all the maps in Mapsource first by entering the appropriate keys.

I have been working on this install for a couple of days already and I think I almost got it. I have a nokia n82.

Here is the issue I'm having.

When I got to system/remote gps

It only allows me to "Pair New GPS" or disable it.

There is not option to select "built in gps" or anything as instructed.

Does anyone have an idea how to enable the GPS. That is the thing I can't get working.

I figured it out!
31. Go to Windows Explorer/My computer, on the top bar click TOOLS > Folder Options
32. Click TAB "File Types" and click "VIEW"
33. Scroll down a bit and UNCHECK "Hide extensions for known file types" then click OK to exit.

Do not forget to do this step! I didnt think it was that important to uncheck this extention thingy, but it makes all the difference in the world. If you dont do this, the file extension is still .txt, which does not work.

Thank you to everyone that tried to help me...and I hope this posting will help someone else. :D:D

If u have all the stuff u need this is what i did....

I installed the program into my phone....I also installed the garmin files to my Mass drive...

If u have a garmin map Source already u can get the unit ID of there by opening your map source and going to utilities and click on get unit ID....U will see the unit id come up and now u can put it in garmin_kgen.exeto get the other code...

Post it in notpad and save as SW.UNL once u have done that go into any folder and go to tools and folder options...Take the tick out of Hide extensions for known file type the it apply...Best place to save it is the desk top and your file should look like this...SW.NUL.txt just right click it and put SW.NUL and u should change...Now just put that in your folder Garmin on your phone....

U the open the program cancel the use bluetooth bull**** and u should see a bit were it says Use attached/built-in GPS

Installing the maps...If u have the garmin map souce on computer all u do is scroll the maps u want and send to Device make sure u have a SD card thats what i use case it saves it to gmapsupp.ing straight away open your SD card and copie the file straight from card to garmin folder in your phone....Mass storage open the garmin program again and then go to tools then mange my data go to map sets and take out the files u don't need till u see the 1 u want...then u should have your maps...Hope this helps...

What maps are installed? Until you achieve a GPS lock, the display would be over one of the Garmin offices. Zoom out and navigate to your country of choice.

MapSource is the installation programs for maps. It runs on the PC, and comes with all Garmin map DVD/CD.
Capabilities:
- Import maps to device.
- Select parts or maps or combine maps
- Get Device ID
- Enter unlock keys for your device and have it incorporated in the maps.

NT files uses a different compression routine, and is meant for Garmin Mobile XT and later programs.

Hello everyone. I have a sprint mogul phone and i have installed tomtom 6 on it. This works good and picks up the internal gps (configured with AstroGPSlauncher) without any problem. I tried installing Garmin on the mogul and i am not having any luck. I am pretty good with technical stuff, so it is killing me that i cant get this prog to work on my phone. I followed the instructions to the T and still no luck. After saving the SW.UNL and GMAPSUPP.UNL files into the garmin folder, i launch to program, only to find that I still get the start-up screen asking me to register the program!!! What can I be doing wrong? I tried saving the files in capital and then in lower case. I tried the card i.d and also the device i.d, and the IMEI and IMSI codes, but nothing seems to work. I played with it for hours. If anyone can give me any info about this, i would really appreciate it.

Hi Bu,

Good to hear from you!

It mean garmin did stored some file at phone memory and caused the searching the original GPSr which already paired right?

So must reset the phone, otherwise no reason to reset the phone memory!
