Well jst to thanks the guys who helped out in teaching how to install and find maps. I was in brunei, we kinda got lost and without the maps on the Nokia e90 I think we would have been seriously lost, apparently we were heading towards the opposite direction for 20 mins! cos the GPS could not get a fix.
Anyways while I have the borneo map, I'm now looking for one with Sabah, the map I have only got Sarawak & bRunei. I'm going to Sabah in about 3 weeks time and as far as I can tell no roads there ! *gasps* helps! been searching malsingmaps forum but I cant make head or tail of it. they seem to speak in a language i cant understand.

Just go to malsing maps, download section, and download their 2.15 version of map (Jan 2008) for borneo. It is not locked, and just need to be installed to be used.

OK, I have spent nearly eight hours today trying to get this to work. First I tried the 60 FW thru Torrent and it took most of yesterday to download. I found out I didnt need the Euro stuff ( i live in Colorado). The Sys file seems to want to open in my Windows Media player, at least thats the Icon that is attached to it. I have tried others to open it, but they wont; so I know thats a problem there: perhaps I am lacking the app to open this app; I dont know. Why it automatyically attached itself to wmp I dont know, but I suck at software.
Then I tried to move it thru my Nokia PC Suite and the Install Application section, but it would not move the folders.
Then I tried the guys links from page 99 or 100, the one written in blue on blue. Now on those I tried to put them thru my card reader and it wouldnt let me. Then I tried to put my n95-3 on usb rather that pc suite and went in the order he suggested.
1st the Support file download
2nd the Basemap Download
These bot showed a Garmin screen and asked me to choose where it was going and it only showed "h" which I assumed was my usb into the N95. Both of those downloads seem to load fine.
However the 3rd download (Symbian Updates and Downloads) did not show me the same screen the first two did. It didnt ask where i wanted to download, it just started downloading it, but noting appeared in the folder, on the phone, or anywhere else that i can find on my pc or phone! Then I thought it may be that "Hidden file" problem, I went back and made sure that was unchecked and the other uncheck hidden file item above it ( I didnt mention I have windows 2000 Professional). But that didnt work either.
Then I tried to Download it into my pc using the "Extract Here" option when I right clicked the zip file. Finally a few folders appeared including a "Setup" file with what i hope is the Garmin logo. But when I clicked on that, I see the hour glass for 1/2 second and it goes away and nothing hapens!
I'm ready to throw this computer out the window! I am an "OLd School" Cellular guy in the Biz 15 years but this Software SH** drives me nuts! I can disassemble any phone, I've brought back and saved phones that were dropped out of cars on highways and run over and in Jacuzi's for two hours, but I am having the hardest time with all this software, but I know I need to understand it to stay in my profession. So Someone please give me a link to software downloads I can use. I believe the ones the above guy gave were for if you wanted to do an upgrade, not to install on a virgin N95-3 with no Garmin at all. I dont know if its important or not, but I did do the new FW update thru NSU and it went fine. Someone PLEASE help; I can offer almost any kind of hardware help you may need in exchange for step by step directions as if you were explaining it to a mentally challenged Monkey; if it is successful, I can help you out in many ways...Thanx in advance!!!!!!!
First I tried the 60 FW thru Torrent and it took most of yesterday to download.
Back to simplified installation:
Navigate here:
http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=010-11034-00
Download:
1) Garmin Mobile XT for Symbian (th program)
2) Garmin Support Files (Voice etc)
3) Garmin Basemap (Map)
Connect phone to PC
Run the first program on PC. After the first, you will get a prompt on phone to permit installation of Garmin. Accept it, and when it finishes, run the next two on PC.
At the end of this, the program will be installed on phone.
Start Garmin on phone. Ignore trhe unable to find GPS receiver. Go to Settings>About, and copy down the Card ID.
This Card ID is also your Device ID, and is used by the keygen to unlock the program and also maps.
Get jetmouse's keygen (and if needed the IMEI converter)
Generate your unlock key. Save it in a file named sw.unl. Send this file to your phone in the Garmin folder.
Program will now be unlocked. It'll allow you to select the internal or bluetooth GPS receivers.
Once this is done, then work on the map(s).

Garmin Mobile XT for Symbian S60
Because I dont see one with "th program"
On a seperate note I finally got one to download, but it wasnt off this page. For what ever reason, it didnt work. But now the Code generators code doesnt work to unlock the maps, maybe I need to do the first unlock? I'll try that now, If it doesnt work, I'll erase everything. reset the phone (*#7370#) and thry that file again. I must have 5 or 6 of these Garmin files on my PC now..I'm thinking I may need to delete all those to. I'm staying here(My Store) until I do it. Thanx.

Save it in a file named sw.unl. Send this file to your phone in the Garmin folder.
This is another problem; Where exactly is this File? Am I looking in the garmin foldes on my sd card? On my PC in one of the files I downloaded?

Ok, I just deleted everything and I'm starting over> I went to the link above and downloaded the one I highlighted right above this post. But even the Garmin messages on that Download say it is only an update and not the real program as someone else on here pointed out...It seems to me it need s to be attached to a full program..but I'm gonna follow what you say verbatum.

Ok, when I click on the Zip file it asks me if I want to set up and I say yes..or what ever the command is. It goes thru a series of bars as if its downloading some place, but nothing is promted on my phone, nothing shows in that file on my PC, nor the file above it. It disappears. Somewjere theres about ten of this just sitting there, but where, I havent a clue.
Anyway, I then Decided to open it up using WINRAR a file thingy I got a while ago. at least with that it opens up in front of me in a separate window. I went down to the EXE apressed it, but it downloaded to that black hole i guess.
The I decided to use the EXTRACT button up top. It gave me a choice of where I wanted to extract it to, And I chose my "H" file, which is my USB to my phone in this computer. That took much longer to do, and It did doit. Whether or not I can open it is another issue. Now I'll try the next step.
BTW, I never did get a prompt on my phone either, but the file is there. I think because in this USB mode on the Nokia, It doesnt recognize anything going on with the SD card until the usb is unplugged..I'm not sure about this, just a theory as to why it didnt offer a prompt.

Ok on the second file it did the little setup thing first and then opened up the Garmen XT Mobile set up as it did the last time. I also just found where those missing files are going. They are put in a separate folder on the main drive folder(in this case its my E Drive) in a folder marked "For Symbian" ; but I'll leave them be for now. Just as a reminder, I am using Windows 2000 Pro. If that matters.
Ok the third file went as easy as the second one. I forgot to mention, you do have to highlight the acceptable drive the Garmin setup finds or it wont Illuminate the Install button. Very basic, but It stumped me for about 5 minutes.
Ok, so everything is on my Micro sd card now. When I pulled the USB nothing happened like before when it was half installed. I then went int othe folder thru the phone and it wouldnt open the program, mainly because it still wasnt set up. So I tried to push the setup.exe and it said it didnt recognize the program. Then I rehooked it back up through my pc and went thru my PC into the H drive wher the USB is hooked up, and once again it wont open it. Th e60 fw link givin back around page 85 or so did download the program into my phone, but I thought this would be more complete, but I'm fairly convinced, this program is just what it says, and upgrade to an existing program and cant be used as the original. It just took me three hours to confirm that. Hopefully I can bring back the old one from my recycle bin and work from it. It also may have something to do with my W2K OS. but thanx anyway.

I double left clicked and then thats when it puts it in the Mystery file I found much later..it doesn let me send it to a destination I want unless I use the Extarction in winrar. And even when I did sforce it over into the h drive, it still wouldnt open..I still think this is not an original, but and upgrade..but what do I know, its 230am and I'm stil trying to work this thing.
I cant find anywhere that gives me explicit instuctions on setting up and creating this sw.unl file which I suspect is Software Unlock. Some of you say the Garmen File, well which one? Are we talking on the PC or in my removeable? Where is it in ther? Some of the psosts say you have to create it, but dont say how or where, and others say look for it but dont say how or where. I used that keygen and have the code, but where do I put it? Also, I noticed if I keep pressing generate that code changes? can that be right? My Card ID stays the same, why would it change, it doesnt make sense.

Like I asked earlier, I think some of us need these directions on a Mentally Chalenged Monkey Level (MCML?)..a lot of the stuff you guys take foir granted is not that way to us, me at least. OK, ask the risk of sounding really bad, specify "Run" and what exactly I'm supposed to do..
Programs are 'executed' or 'ran' to start them. Its a terminology from pre Graphic User Interface (GUI eg Windows, MacOS etc) days. With a GUI, you double click the programs. (Is someone yanking my chain?)
Ok are you talking about this one:
Garmin Mobile XT for Symbian S60
Because I dont see one with "th program"
"th" was a typo - should read the. Yes. it is the correct one. Contains the main Garmin Mobile XT. As Garmin pointed out, this is not the complete program, as you also need the Basemap and support files!
Save it in a file named sw.unl. Send this file to your phone in the Garmin folder.
This is another problem; Where exactly is this File? Am I looking in the garmin foldes on my sd card? On my PC in one of the files I downloaded?
Garmin mobile XT needs a file called sw.unl to permit use of non Garmin GPS receivers. You use the keygen to create this number, copy and paste in in notepad, and save it as sw.unl (not sw.unl.txt). Copy that file to the Garmin folder on your phone.
You will need to do this for the unlock key for maps too later. In this case, the name is gmapsupp.unl to unoock mao gmapsupp.img.

Programs are 'executed' or 'ran' to start them. Its a terminology from pre Graphic User Interface (GUI eg Windows, MacOS etc) days. With a GUI, you double click the programs. (Is someone yanking my chain?)
Honestly, I'm not yanking anyones chain. I just need to specify, because obviously something is not matching. I knew to double click on that file, but as I stated before, it would start the set up small box, but would never start the Garmin XT Setup bigger box. After the small box would download with a series of bars going thru it (Just a few seconds) the file would disappear. For a while I couldnt even find it. On my Pc I was saving all these files to E>Cell Software>Garmin. After starting the Set Up on this file It would disappear. I would find it two folders up in the Main E Drive in a file the Setup labeled itself, "For Symbian". But even when I took this file and put it on my removeable H drive (When my N95 was hooked up thru USB) it would take it, but would not setup on my phone, even after the other two files were put there(The other two downloaded and setup fine on my phones sd card thru the Garmin Setup program). Thisis the point I've been trying to make and why I gave up on this particular link.
I went to the Page 85 link, and that one downloaded fine. But now I cant get it to start. I was given the sw.unl file and after hooking up my phone to Removeable H, installed that file in Sytem> Data. But ist still says "No GPS Found".
I'm thinking maybe that code was wrong, or I put it in the wrong folder. Everyone kepps saying to put it in the Garmin Folder, but ther's like 50 differnt files and folders in that folder. Then I was told to put it in the one marked "Data". The only one I could find was the one I listed above; which is evidently wrong.
On a separate note, when I am done with this, In appreciation, I am going to write Key Stroke by Keystroke, step by step instructions for others like me that must be out there. This way you guys wont have to do this. I bet there's alot of readers out there who just gave up. The sw.unl file writing a lone is enough to frustrate you. I never opened a "Notebook" program, nevermind writing one. But Now I understand. the process, and please correct me if I'm wrong:
Get card Id as described here
Open up Keygen Program
Enter Card ID In top slot on Keygen Program
Press "Generate"
Go to your Windows programs in your PC
Find "Notebook" program
Open Up Notebook program
Paste copied code from Keygen
Save Note book program with pasted code as sw.unl
Hook up your N95 to Usb and then USB to PC
On Phone select "Data Transfer"
Wait for computer to recognize phone (On mine the PC Suite Shows It conected)
On phone A message pops up stating The Memory card will not be Available During this time, or something like that.
Press OK on phone.
Go to your PC and "My Computer"
Open up what ever Drive your phone is connected to (In my case it was Removeable H)
Open up the Removeable File
Copy your newly created Notebook file into Data Folder
Now the only thing I'm not sure of is where this "Data" Folder is.
When I open up the Removeable, I put mine in System>Data. But I was told to put it in the Garmen>Data; but there is no such folder. The only folder I saw in Garmin, was a PRV folder that had a lot of Notebook files with txt at the end; was this where I was suppose to put the sw.unl File?
After that we'll start working on the maps. Thanx again guys!

OK, Already a Correction for above directions. The program to write the sw.unl file is NOT Notebook, but NOTEPAD. And it isnt in Programs.
On your PC go to My Documents
On the upper left Tool bar Press File Tab
Then select New
Then Scroll down to Text Document and select
A New Text Document icon will pop up in your My Documents Folder
It will want you to name the file (Before you open it)
Type in sw.unl
press enter
Now click on that file
paste Keygen code to that file
close it and re highlight it
Right click on it and copy it
Then go to above directions and follow them.
Let me know if this helps anyone who didnt know how to do this. It only let me know I'm not the only one on the MCML (Mentally Challenged Monkey Level) Thanx.
Paste the Copied Code from Keygen in there

OK, The sw.unl file definetly goes into Removeable>Garmin and just attach it next to the folders (Copy from PC and paste here). Ok now I'm ready to start on the Maps...
In all of this, I must have deleted my NT2008 North American Maps, anyone know where I can get this whole Mapsource file? I am also attempting to do this all on a 1gb card. If I cant fit the whole USA Canada File which I belive is over 1 gb, can I just put in the US maps? If thats too big, can I just put in Rocky Mountain Region? I live in Colorado. I plan on getting a 4gb card at least, if I cant find th 8gb, but I want to get this Garmin program up so I can test it. Thanx gain.

In all of this, I must have deleted my NT2008 North American Maps, anyone know where I can get this whole Mapsource file?

Ok now I'm ready to start on the Maps...
I am also attempting to do this all on a 1gb card. If I cant fit the whole USA Canada File which I belive is over 1 gb, can I just put in the US maps?
Once you install the US 2009 NT on your PC, Mapsource will also be installed.
Now, connect phone to PC - USB option.
Running Mapsource on your PC, you can:
1) Get your unit ID again (if forgotten etc) from its menu - Utilities>Get Unit ID
2) Unlock maps for your device. Menu - Utilites>Unlock map. Using Jetmouse's keygen, you need to enter your unit ID again, and select NT 2009 (or map ID 325 if the above does not exist in your version of keygen). Generate the code, and copy it to the window in Mapsource. This will unlock the entire map for your device, and you won't have to mess with gmapsupp.unl etc later.
3) Select parts of the map that you want on your device. On mapsource, main screen, clock on the map tool icon (the polygon icon). Click on portion of map you want, and it will turn pink, as well as fill up the list on right. When satisfied, from menu, select transfer> send to device. Mapsoiurce will check size for fit, and then generate a gmapsupp.img and send the map to the phone. Note, any existing gmapsupp.img on the phone will be overwritten.
After the above is complete, start Garmin Mobile Xt on phone. If you do not get message that map is locked error message, then you have successfully unlock the map.
Otherwise, need to recheck the unlock key and redo (just delete gmapsupp.img) and start again.

OK, I have tried everyway to download this file.
GarminMobileXTforSymbianS60_41080.exe
From the Garmin website and the link you guys provided. It will not down load. When I try to run it (Double Click) it shows the small setup box as the other do foer a bout 10 seconds and then disaapears! The other two file show that small setup box and when that goes away, the larger Garmin XT setup blue box appears and asks which drive you want to put it on. But this one just disappears. Its not in the file I opened it from. I even went back to the main drive file in my PC wher others were stored in a "For Symbian" file, but its not there either. I found some of it was put back in my C Drive in a "For Symbian" Folder.
But more importantly I think I just figured it out. Like I said, The Base Mao and Support files download fine, but this main file does not. So what I tried is to Right click on that file, go down to WinZip and select Extract To and then chose my Removeable Drive (Mine is H) that you have the phone and USB hooked up to. I'll let you know how that goes. Remember I am using Windows 2000 Professional.

ok, that seemed to work...but it will not self install when you disconnect the usb as the lower versions did. you must go in your phone to menu>settings>file manager> then at the top click the file manager over to read your sd card. then go into gmobile card>garmen>apps>symbian>res>and click on the Red Square labeled GarmenMobileXT.sis.....but what I just found out is this whole process doesnt work...even after I went thru all this...I went to My phone>Menu>Aplications>Garmin icon and pressed on it. the first few times I got the black screen but it quickly went away, now it just flashes for a second and nothing happens. This is unreal...I took the 60 version out for this one...I think I'll just go back to the 60, the link for the 2009 pack by Restrected doesnt work On Nokia N95's. You get all the way to the Mapsource.exe to read the phone code and it wont..it stays at 0. first it bogged down my computer, and wouldnt let me read the memory card at all because that is Something nokias do when your in USB mode, you cant run a program, ie Garmin, on the phone and stay in USB STorage mode..and yes I tried PC Suite mode and all the others. The I tried to go the old way Settings>About> but it just says to Hook up a GPS or something like that, even tho I was getting go signal from my GPS in the phone. Catch 22...I"M going to Format my card one more time, and set phone back to Factory (*#7370#) and try it this way one more time..but I dont think its happening for this program and my phone. I'll let you know.

Well, tried the Imei converter and it didnt work. I did get Restrected's GarminMobileXTFullImage_4***x.exe to load, but I cant get it to unlock, I guess..my gps found the satellite but the Garmin cant find it. I tried the Bluetooth mode on my GPS and still no luck. This is really telling me I have to go back to the 60v and get it working and then down load the 2009 maps from Restrected'd pak and possibly upgrade later on...just thought it could be done this way; I still dont know why that converter wouldnt work...I dont think the maps have to be dowloaded, right? Anyway, back to 60..at least it worked.

It has taken me over 40 hours of work to put this together, but I promised I would for all the help and patience I received on this site. It may be my computer, but I'm inclined to think its my phone. If you are starting from scratch, the GarminGarmin_Mobile_XT_4[1].10.60__Including_Support_Files_.rar is the Latest Garmin Program I could find that would completeley download and activate in my phone. All of the 80's had one problem or another. They may be able to be used for Upgrading an existing Garmin program, but will not activate new, as far as my computer and phone are concerned. I have tried different versions at lkeast 20x getting stuck on Unit Id, Setting it up, and acceptance. I know this one works because i have done it twice now to two differnt phones right out of the box; and honestly I didnt notice too many diffrences in the versions.
This is a Keystroke By Keystroke process for readers with little or no, software experience. I am an “Old School” Dealer in the Cellular Industry 15 years. I am a hardware guy and can fix almost any phone no matter the damage; as long as the MoBo is still good, but this software stuff drives me nuts. However, I realize it is something I needed to learn, so I started here. I have accumulated bits and pieces from all over this Thread, and others, and compiled them here. I had a lot of problems because some of the instructions were for other phones and some for other computer systems but these have the necessary instructions for my phone and my computer. I have a Nokia N95 NAM, other wise known as a Nokia N95-3; and it has the newest software upgrade just released last week. It is not the 8gb, but does have a removable SD card (Expandable up to 8gb from what I understand). The Card the phone came with was only 1 gb; which will only limit the amount of maps you can hold. I sell these in my store new, with this program for $549.99 in various colors, but complete, or Full Pack, as they say in the biz. My computer is an old one on todays standards. It’s a Pentium III, 1000mgz and 750 RAM running Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4 (Ok you can stop laughing now) so you can take that into consideration with these instructions.
Before attempting this you must down load and install a few programs. Some are in a file sharing system called Torrent. This can take a while depending on your computer; but please download every file listed here first, before you begin the 57 step install process below.
Downloads Needed:
http://rapidshare.com/files/88571340...ort_Files_.rar (http://rapidshare.com/files/88571340/Garmin_Mobile_XT_4.10.60__Including_Support_Files_ .rar) This will give you the Garmin 4.10.60
http://www8.garmin.com/software/GarminMobileXTFreeBasemap_4***x.exe
http://www8.garmin.com/software/GarminMobileXTSupportFiles_4***x.exe
You will also need to Download this and partially set up some of it before you start.:
http://thepiratebay.org/tor/4133521/Garmin_Mobile_XT_2009_North_America_NT_Complete_-_Repack_By_Rest
And follow these instructions:
First, After Torrent downloads Open Zip file.
Press "Etract" at the top!
1. Install the pc software "Mapsource" into your computer by going to:
"\PC Mapsource Installation Files\" and runing the file
"CNNANT2009Update_ENU.exe".
a.if you want it to be in a different language, just choose the last
three letters that match the language you want it in.
b.Click next.
c.Accept everything it tells you.
d.Select the destination folder (this is where the program and maps are
going to be copied to. The default is "c:\Garmin\". I recomend to leave
it that way.
e.When you are done with the installation you will have a new icon on the
desktop, "MapInstall". We dont need this right now, but we will get
back to it.
2. Open the installation folder, the folder where you installed the
program 1 minute ago, and open the folder "MapSource" within that.
Create a shortcut of the file "MapSource.exe" in your desktop by
right clicking on your mouse and choosing SEND TO select DESKTOP.
Make sure it is there.
3. Close everything you have open accept for this
"Instructions By Restrected.txt" file and the folder this file is found
in.
Open the folder "\PC Mapsource Crack\" and run the file "all.bat".
a.In most cases it will only show "all" as the file name with some
explanation below it.
b.Let this program "all.bat" finish its work, is going to take a while
(LET IT FINISH!).
c.When its done, click "Enter". DO Not PRESS "any key will make it exit".
d.This program makes the images of the maps in your computer usable with
any garmin device, and it unlocks them for use/view in the pc, also it
makes possible for us to transfer them to the device of our choice.
DO NOT GO ANY FURTHER THAN THIS!!!

56.) Unplug the USB, let it install, or go to Garmin and start

As i see it,this is 100% an .iso file.
Meaning,this is a DVD image.
Pls use NERO,Alchohol120% or similar program AND burn(record) it to DVD.
OR you can use Deamon Tools to mount image without burning it.
See here how to do it (http://www.daemon-help.com/general_use_lite/basic_operations_lite/)
When u have mounted/burned it,you have to install it.
Then READ few posts above about what to do next,PeakCelln made full tutorial so use it.

.iso is a compressed disc image. You can ewither burn it to a DVD or mount it with something like Daemon Tools.
Garmin mobile XT only read the maps if they are named:
gmapsupp.img (in Garmin folder on MMC)
gmapsup2.img (in Garmin folder on MMC)
gmaprom.img (in the ROM of phone)
Mapsource (the installed program on your .iso) will always write to gmapsupp.img. If a file already exists, it will overwrite without warnings.

Hello everyone,
Does anyone know how to back up the Favorite Locations on the Garmin XT Mobile program? Whenever I do a hard reset, I have to reinstall the whole program, which is not a problem, because the keys generated by the keygen is stored on the memory card on my phone, but what is a pain in the butt is that i have to manualy reprogram all of my Favorite Location information. Is there an easier way of doing this?
Thanks in advace.

try looking in here (this might be it)
Memory card / Storage Device \Garmin\Apps\Symbian\GMobile.ini ;)
if not check the phone memory via a file managing program that will see (c: drive) and then find it under sys or system

Hey guys, I have a bit of a situation and want to know if anyone else has experienced it also. I have been running my Garmin XT on my 1gb card and everything was fine. I finally got around to buying some 8gb cards(That are actually 8gb) and loaded them in my N95-3. It took the card fine, showed the 8gb of freespace(actually slightly less as usual) I reformatted the new card, factory reset the phone, then reloaded my Garmin on the 8gb card. When I turned it on today, I noticed the back of my phone is a bit hot. Its definetley heating up, not as bad as I have seen some phones, but it is hot. Has anyone experienced this? Could this be a reaction to using an 8gb card? Maybe the 8gb card and the Garmin xt? it didnt do it for two days when the card was in by itself and not running Garmin. It only does it when I'm running it...any others out there with a N95-3 using a 8gb card and Garmin? Let me know asap. Thanx!

you have a faulty batch of 8gb cards,
i've got a few nokia phones (n95, n95 8gb, 8600, 5310, n82, etc) and i found that the cheaper memory cards make certain phones heat up
it's due to the memory card needing power from the phones battery and the tracks on the memory cards are poorly designed
best advise: get rid of the crappy memory cards and buy a scandisk :D

hi,
thank you so much for making the effort to do this. however, i would be really grateful if u could help with this problem... i downloaded the 3 different .exe files from garmin website and now, its installed in my phone. im able to open it however, it still cant locate my internal gps and instead wants to find a bluetooth gps device! ive scoured this forum and done all the sw.unl text files and key gens but im still unable to use my internal gps.
can u help me? thanks...
edit/ sorry this is directed to user Peakcelln
Im able to open it however, it still cant locate my internal gps and instead wants to find a bluetooth gps device!
If you have generated the sw.unl correctly, you will get the option for GPS receivers other than Garmin's. Select the option of attached GPSr for internal units.
Best to get a lock with the GPSr first with another program, eg GPS Navigator/Explorer (built in your phone) before trying to configure Garmin. The initial lock on on some can take up to 5 minutes in some cases.
I have managed to get Garmin City Navigator Europe NT 2008 to work on my Nokia N95 without a problem, but I have no real idea about how to correctly install Garmin Mapsource Topo GB V2 onto it.
I have a setup file created from 6 RAR files ( by Ragdoll), but when I run the setup and install to the 8GB memory of the N95, I end up with a 'Topo Great Britain' folder that's full of 100's of small files inside within the 'Garmin' folder.
The topo maps don't show up in the actual Garmin XT program.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

if anyone has downloaded this programme and downloaded the maps and are struggling what to do next send me a message to winston0024@hotmail.co.uk and i can email this pdf file its 46kbs

I have my Garmin Mobile XT up and running on my Nokia N95 since a while. Thank to all in this forum.
Right now I have Version 4.10.60s60.9.TW on my mobile. I am running on City Navigator North America NT 2008.
I had seen in this thread that City Navigator North America NT 2009 is available now. I don't need the new software but, I need the updated maps of 2009, is that possible or do I need to install the 2009 software to use 2009 maps?
I had downloaded
1. Garmin Mapsource City Navigator North America NT 2009 Update
2. Garmin 2009 North America NT Complete - Repack by Restrected
from the reference mentioned in this thread.
The first one is asking me for a Product key (Before starting it is also telling that some of the files are missing.
The second one is a full installation of the software from the beginning which I tried on a different Memory card, but am stuck in between as I am getting the device ID as "0" in the mapsource. I didn't do all the steps and went back to my old memory card and the mapsource and map Install are are recognizing the device and are ready to download 2009 maps, but, in the process is it gonna delete the 2008 maps? Will the 2009 maps be compatible with my 2008 software?
any inputs appreciated.
And ill search for the Garmin map...TY!
FOUND the maps....a bit of time to make it work:d...but because everything has a bad part..my previous maps were replaced:D:(...anyway there's no problem because was the UK map...
If someone need the GARMIN XT with UK mAp (torrent link:D...and it REALLY works for s60v3..just follow the manual pdf steps you got after you download) : http://www.mininova.org/tor/1311612

gmapbmap.img is the basemap. Overwriting it will kill all maps on your phone. The maps will need to be saved as either: 1) gmapsupp.img 2) gmapsup2.img 3) gmapprom.img - ROM on phone. If it is not unlocked, it will need the corresponding unlock codes: 1) gmapsupp.unl 2) gmapsup2.unl 3) gmapprom.unl

Excellent, thanks, had to plug in a memory stick to my laptop and save it to there using the Transfer, Send To Device option but now got a .IMG file for the area I want.
Why there cant just be a save option for this file type I don't know, Mapsource now uninstalled again.

Ok I found "City Navigator Brazil v4 NT for Mapsource" I downloaded it and extracted the files using winrar. Then it told me to set the Notepad .unl file and I did using the keygen provided in the file. Then it said to attach to my SD card. But when I went to do that it said it already had a Garmin Program because I already had the downloaded the Garmin XT program for the USA (Including City Navigator 2009 maps). So I changed the name of the Brazil file from "Garmin" to "Garmin Brazil" and loaded it in. But when I went to see what Map Sets were loaded, it didn show Brazil just the Worldwide Base map and my City Navigator North America NT 2009...Is there a separate file to load this file in? Is there a different way to do this? Can you have diffrent Map Sets in the phone? Can you Mix 2009 and 2008? I'm just trying to figure out why it wont show.<p>Also when I opened up the Brazil file it only have a "Voice" Folder, Contents, gmapsup.img and the .unl notepad; shouldnt there be a lot more? Yet a few using it said they had no problem..what am I doing wrong? Thanx in advance..

Easier with gmaptool (DOS program). Just type gmaptool.exe -i <map>, and it'll give you all the info neded, including any unlocking keys in the map. You'll need to search for gmaptool.
Can also use that to combine maps, add unlock codes to the map etc.

Ooops. Missed the post.
Gmapsupp.img can be copied to your phone, and Garmin Mobile XT will be able to open and read it. It checks to see if the map has the proper unlock codes. These codes could be in the form of a series of numbers (keys) in a file called gmapsupp.unl. You can use JetMouse's Keygen to generate these keys based on your device ID and the Map ID.
The unlock codes could also be included into the map itself, gmapsupp.img, using gmaptools.
Syntax for Gmaptool is:
gmaptool -j [-v] [-i] [-r] [-d] [-o output_file] [-u code]
[-f FID[,PID]] [-m map] [-b block] [-p prority] [-t|-n]
file.img...
-j - join maps, -o required
-S - split maps for Mapsource
-s - split maps
-U - insert unlock code into file
-i - information
-v - verbose
-r - remove unlock codes
-d - create DEMO map
-o - output file name
-u - new unlock code
-f - Family ID and Product ID
-m - mapset name
-b - block size kB
-p - map priority
-t - transparent map
-n - non-transparent map
-h - short header img
To add codes, use the following:
gmaptool -U <CODE> gmapsupp.img
where you enter the generated code in the place of <CODE>.
Make sure the gmapsupp.img map is in the same folder for easier use.
You can verify the codes has been entered by typing:
gmaptool -i -v
This would give all the info on the map - Map ID, any keys entered etc.

OK...I have been installing Garmin Xt on about 8 diffrent N95's. Everything has worked well and I was even able to add Brazil maps to the US 2009 NT maps. I had a request for Romania and Bermuda. So I downloaded Europe City Navigator NT repack from Restrected because his NA (US) repack was so easy to use. However, when I tried to download the Europe Mapsource, It would error out at the last step. Then When I went to use my previously downloaded Mapsource for US it told me "There is a problem with Mapsource Installation. Please reinstall and start again.". So I uninstalled the Europe City Navigator and reinstalled it and still the same two warnings. The European one wouldnt fully install and the One I already had (US) wouldnt start. I reinstalled the Europe one 3 times and still the same. Then I uninstalled the entire Europe navigator and still my original US wouldnt work. Finally, I deinstalled everything last night, the Europe repack AND the US Repack. I even deleted the zip files and went thru Pirate Bay to redownload the torrent again. When I came in this morning, I installed it all and still the same thing. the US version installed fine, but when I go to use it it gives the above message in bold. Has this happened to anyone? Does anyone Know the fix? Could the Pirate bay Download be faulty? It seems like the same one I was previously using succesfully. Also, does anyone know a successful way to put both NT USA and NT Europe on the same N95? PLEASE let me know ASAP, I have this guy waiting and I'm at a total loss! THANX in advance...

ok, I figured out why it was erroring out. It was a Bermuda Mapset I had downloded. When I ran the .bat file it would go down the list and at the end it would recognize my Bermuda map file but would say it couldnt be loaded for some reason or another. I know the Mapset was probably homemade and the Mapsource program didnt know what to do with it. It did say it was unlocked but still errored out. So I deleted and uninstalled the entire bermuda file Deinstalled my whole Na City Navigator and then reinstalled it. Now there isnt any errors when I try and start it and I was able to download my US and Canada maps. But how do I get european maps on there as well? is there step by step anywhere here? I tried to search and couldnt find it..

Alright..I figured that out to. VERY IMPORTANT! When adding the Gar City Nav Euro 2009 to NA Gar City Nav 2009, DO NOT USE the Set Up Instructions included in Restrected's pack. It screws everything up and you end up having to TOTALLY uninstall BOTH programs and Reinstall NA Garmin City Nav 2009. When you do the first step, dont use the "Setup.exe" just go to the appropriate language pac and run that. If you want English, there is no file marked ENU. I found the first one marked CN works best. But now I have another problem.
I added the gmapsup2.unl and the sw2.unl files(Using the Keygen Fist of coarse) to my Garmin file in my phones Micro SD card, but when I went to see if the Mapset was added to my phones Mapset it didnt show. Just the Base and NA City Nav. I did use map install and Chose the Romania and Bulgaria maps and they seemed to download fine. Is there another gmsupp.img file, or something like that, I'm supposed to put in to my phones Garmin folder too? I can Find Romania on my Garmin, but I cant get down to street level like I can on my NA maps. It seems to have all the streets, even the small ones, but not at street level...does this not come with it?

I believe its related to the IMEI(A GSM Phone's ESN). In a Nokia N95, its found after you download the Garmin program into your phone in the "About" section of the Garmin program. If its not listed there in your Blackberry, there is an IMEI Calc available in this thread and a built in one in the Mapsource.exe program of the repack by Restrected. Also, although you would think this obvious, make sure your BB has an actual GPS reciever. If its a Curve, I believe it has to be the "10" model.. I see a few trying to download this software to a phone that isnt even equiped with a GPS device...Hope this helps

:DFigured it out...To add multiple Mapsets you have to install the first one thru Mapinstall then go into phones Garmin program and change the "GMAPSUPP.IMG" to "GMAPSUP2.IMG" as well as the corresponding unlock file. This has to be done FIRST so the Mapinstall will not overwrite the existing map with a new map. If you have three sepearte maps, then it must go down in order. The last mapset added should alsways be the GMAPSUPP.IMG. BTW...Never use GMAPSUP1.IMG; the "1" wont work; "2" is the lowest you can go...Now if I could only figure out how to add a non-Garmin map, like the Bermuda one I have....and Ideas how to put that on my card? I dont think Mapinstall can use it because its not a Garmin Map..

Correct. If you are still getting errors, eg warning message about entering unlock codes for locked maps, it could be because of:
1) Wrong codes generated.
2) More than 1 map in the gmapsupp.img or gmapsup2.img that you want unlocked.
3) No corresponding .unl codes file (if map not unlocked directly)

to what is the unit id related? is it related to the phone hardware? or to the sd card?
The Unit ID is related to both IMEI and SD card Serial No,
So if you change your phone and imei changes then you will have to re-activate the maps / software
Also works if you have a 2gig memory card and upgrade to a 8gig memory card, then decide to copy all info from 2gig to 8gig. you will still need to re-activate the maps and software due to the id's have changed

when creating the sw.unl you need to generate the map unlock code at the same time within the keygen so it will link both codes to map + software

Just checking that it's not a typo, and you meant sw.unl (and not sn.unl) for the unlocking file.

Too bad Garmin doesn't show remaining distance to destination. I mean how can this be not built in ? It is such an obvious feature.
This calls for an update, anyone knows if any updates for Garmin are planned ?

I installed a map on my Desktop PC running OS XP , and the Map folder had a batch file that allowed me to install the map in mapsource, and all went well
The problem is that when trying to install the same map on my laptop running under OS vista I get a note "access denied for adding registry keys",
Is there some sort of security settings in vista need to override.

vista always will have security checks
try editing the batch file and put the command /s after the "regedit file??????" to allow automatic added registery keys

Thanx all of you for your help. I have a problem though!
I have a Palm Treo 650 (PalmOS) and I installed Garmin MobileXT 4.10.30p (latest version). I extracted the map from Auto Drive Hellas 1.4 and renamed it as gmappsupp.img, used the keygen and generated codes for the device and for the map (mapID: 821) and transfered them all to Garmin directory on my SD card. Is there anything else I have to do to make it work on my Palm NOT on WM NOT on S60 NOT on any other mobile!!! The process is the same for all of them????
Thanx in advance!
p.s. The map I think is a MapSource map and I am not sure if the keygen can unlock it. please enlight me!:D

What will happen if you have 2 different maps, eg. a low detailed map and a high detailed map, covering the same area in mapsource, and you then upload them to your gps?
Will you get the best of both?

Hello All
After reading and reading, I still need your help.
The pacient is Nok E90. I'm not a total nerd, but maybe have too many expectations that everything should go smooth (I know, buy a license in that case )
So. I've got a 2 Gb card, installed through data connection GMXT v10.60. Basemap is working. Then I installed mapsource on the PC just for seeing some details on the local maps as one of the forum members explained. Worked like a charm. Found europe maps in .msi format (CN....msi). I've installed cn.msi, it was OK. Used garmin unlocker to unlock all of the maps, it went ok to a certain point after that has got frozen.
I've selected a bunch of maps, transferred to the phone, ok.
Generated sw.unl file, put in place, choose the built in GPS in XT application after restart, but i cannot get a hook on any sat.
If I go to the GPS signal icon, the GPS Information page is telling me the Unit ID: "SD card ID" then on another line "Assisted GPS".
Is this normal?
I have started Nokia Maps before and it hooked up OK after 3-4 minutes.

Look like nokia E71, can use garmin. We only need to unlock it. If i am right, i will purchase the E71 and try it out. Previously, i though the build in GPS in E71 can not work with Garmin.

I just installed the program on my N82 and I'm in the process of waiting for the NA 2009 maps to finish downloading. Does anyone have a link for the entire Japan map? I did a search on the forum and couldn't come up with a link. Thanks.
(Repost, this might be a more correct location)
Really tried to follow all the right steps.. Copied the Card ID and created the 2 files from both map and divice key and ran them through notepad etc... After all this:
It still seems that Garmin can't locate my internal GPS. Have you experienced this before? I have a regular N95. Does it use bluetooth to connect to external GPS? I said now to bluetooth activation when Garmin asks. (Tried yes also). But Garmin can't connect to me GPS it seems. Within settings/system it is set to "remote" GPS. I can't switch it though. When bluetooth is switched off it simply tells me to switch it on. When it isn't turned on it says: "No GPS devices found".
What can I do? (My Garmin version is 4.20.20s60.9)

hi all first of many posts here, is there a postcode search in garmin ?
found the answer myself and yes you get full postcode search in garmin:D
can anyone post a step by step to get this running.
A - Z walk through, through the whole process.
i have read back through the other posts and not really understanding how to do this.
installing software to phone, no problem. i would run it and it could not locate a gps. is there something wrong?
next, i know there a keygens that produce the unit id and map unlock? do i just input my card id # that i obtained from the about tab??? what is the whole process of doing this??? i know reading through some posts you have to make a couple files or so
as for the maps, i have downloaded the software garmin mobile xt and the maps from here - http://symbianapplication.blogspot.com/2008/09/garmin-xt-city-navigator-north-america.html
i decompressed all files and came up with this file (gmapsupp.img) according to the details it says "ready without id" ? i guess i would have to transfer this directly to my garmin directory
next would i really need to bother with mapsource if i already have a map (it's the link above NT 2009 usa & canada)
any help with this would be greatly appreciated...
theres just tons of pages to go through for N95 setup
thank you

i also tried running mapsource, selected the maps i wanted and then sent them to the device; i loaded garmin and it requests unlock code
- i then ran the keygen and entered my imei(tried also with card id #) and then generated; i then copied that info to notepad and made a file gmapsupp.unl; then copied that to the garmin directory; still same result
- another thing i tried was gUnlocker, still same results

no worries figured out how to get the unlocked maps working, i just copied that directly to my garmin directory; all i really needed to do was just to zoom right in (dam should of known)
* As for unlocking maps, that i just need on mapsource, i cannot figure out how to do that still;
- i selected the regions i wanted in canada
- send to device (garmin)
- ran keygen
- entered imei (not my card id on the "about" selection on garmin)
- generated map unlock code
- copied that code and pasted, made file "GMAPSUPP.UNL" in notepad, trust me not .txt file :)
- transfered "GMAPSUPP.UNL" to garmin directory
** no luck, hmmm .... still asking to unlock map
that north america navigator 2009 is 1.5 gigs or so, taking up space; if anyone just has the CANADA maps 2009 UNLOCKED, PLEASE post a link

This is a weird one. I have several Variations on Garmin xt on my computer and have put it in 8-10 diffrent N95's successfully. I recently had a computer problem and lost the Version 60 I was using (For what ever reason I couldnt get to Set up with the 80), anyway, I downloaded the same version and now at the bottom of the screen I have superimposed over whatever is there for the soft keys "(Red to Starboard)" I have tried to fiz it and reboot it, but its still there and only when I start navigation, not on the home screen. Even when I tried to update to the new 5.00, its still there. I know I should just erase it and start over, but I wanted to find out why this happens. Everything works fine, ya just cant see what the soft key is for on the right and only part of the one on the left. I searched all over this forum and the net and cant find anything except some Britts talking about some Garmin Nautical program that has to do with Waypoints. Has anyone experienced this?
Also, has anyone got the 5.00 upgrade to work yet? The one I got downloaded, but cant find my GPS and doesnt give me anyother option than Bluetooth. I wonder if I have to redo the unlock keys. I'll try that next. Thanx.

Anyone know how to make routes and send to the N95?
I am running mapsoure 6.1.41 with city navi north america 2008, I select were i want to go and then I send to device with no problems
Then when I run Garmin XT and go to "tools, manage data, then go to routes, i dont even have the option to view routes.
I checked out the garmin directory on my phone and i believe the file gets sent to the GPX folder. It's names current.gpx, I even opened it up in MapSource to verify that's the one i sent.
am i doing something wrong? if my maps on my phone are city navigator 2009, would that still work on 2008 in mapsource?? maybe someone can guide me how to get this thing working

I am making sure I am creating both codes at the same time. When I go to install the maps all I get is the bad key error
What could I possibly be doing wrong?

Thanks for the response.
I managed to get the maps open in Mapsource and transfer the maps to the mobile. Everything seems except voice nav.
Is this included in these cracked versions?
Cheers
Did you install GarminMobileXT Support Files ? as these files contains the voice files, if not you can get them from this link http://thepiratebay.org/search/garmin/0/99/0 (http://thepiratebay.org/search/garmin/0/99/0)

Hi all,
Got XT V5.00 to work on E90, but not on N95. Will try to use previous version on N95 to get it to work. V5.00 also works on 6110 Navi and 6210 Navi. Trick is to install support files first, basemap second and then V5.00. Unlock V5.00, install maps and enjoy.
I'm also having the "Connection allowed to Garmin GPS devices only" problem on my Nokia N78 with S60 software (Garmin XT 5.00).
I've placed the files like so onto the memory card:
\Garmin\SW.GNL
\Garmin\GMAPSUPP.UNL
And I'm having no luck at all. Not really sure what else to try if I'm honest. I've tried, um... different content in these files too, but it still keeps denying me access to the GPS.
Any tips would be great, thank you.

Ok, here's the story.
I recently bought a samsung i8510.
I read a plethora of forums about installing satnav, and which were the 'best'.
I downloaded all the files, followed all the instructions, and STILL cannot get it to work.
Now, I always thought of myself as a reasonably intelligent person, but this has me stumped.
All I want, is for my phone to have a satnav program that will work.
After reading 100+ pages, plus hundreds of pages on other forums, I'm still stumped.
Have I become stupid all of a sudden?
My next option is to grovel and beg with another Aussie that can do it for me if I send them the Micro SD card to install it on.....
Help. Please. Self medicating is my next option :o

Hi all,
Found the trick on N95. It will only work with GMXT V4.20(20) and the support files with basemap. BlizeH, your glitch is with the name of the one file (from your info SW.GNL and it should be SW.UNL). Hope this helps.
***, what an idiot! And yup - it's working a treat now, thanks fuggle :-)
Regarding the N95, you're right about V4.20 (and onwards) being compatible with all S60 v3 phones, so N78, N82, N96 and a quite a few others. Version 5 is available now as well, you can install your older version (4.10.xx) and then update to 5.0 using the files on the Garmin website no worries.

Sinistra,
What is the OS on the Samsung i8510? I stand to be corrected, but I would suspect it to be Symbian S60 3rd ed. If this is the case, then there is a few tricks that can help you to get going with GMXT v5.00. Let us know and we will see where we can help.

Yeah mate, it's the S60 3rd edition.
I probably need more of a step by step than what's already been discussed here... I'm normally pretty good with this sort of stuff, but as it's my first symbian phone, I'm behind the eight ball a little.

Sinistra,
I take it you have downloaded the following:-
GMXT v5.00
support files
basemap file
All three available from www.garmin.com
Install the support files first, followed by the basemap file and lastly the GMXT v5.00. Using Jetmouse's k3yg3n v1.5 create the sw.unl for the app from the card id found in About in GMXT. By now you should have a live satnav system on your phone. The last step is to install and unlock maps for your area. PM me your email if you want me to compile a complete set of instructions.

I think this is the max. (4 maps).. have tryed to add gmapsup1 or gmapsup3 (properly unlocked) and it ignores them
Anayone tryed combining different mapsets and creating unlock file containing XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY (X'es unlock of one map Y's unlock of other map).. some say this works..

I don't recall trying something like that. In theory it should work, but practise dictates otherwise. The other alternative is to get GarminUnlocker.rar and run that on the *.img files and then you don't have to worry about *.unl files on the smartphone.

People this is in my opinion THE BEST sollution.
Just get http://rapidshare.com/files/108051136/GarminUnlocker.rar
Run it on your PC.
It literaly unlocks all the garmin .img files (The ones MapSource uses to transfer maps on device) stored on your PC.
Then just use MapSource, and select regions from as many maps you want and transfer them to your device.
It creates ONE gmapsupp.img on your device (no need to use many)
I have now combined 3 different mapsets in one gmapsupp.img file and don't even have a gmapsupp.unl file on my device and ALL maps show unlocked and work fine.

Garmin will only recognise those maps.
If you have Mapsource, you can create you own personalised Gmapsupp.img by selecting different countries' maps and exporting the lot. That way, you gmapsupp.img will have as many countries as your SD card can hold. Note, this will also significantly slow down the performance of the device - search, routing, re routing etc can take more time as more optinos needs consideration.
GMaptool is an alternative to Mapsource for stitching different maps together into one large .img file.

simppa80,
Yes, there are different voice files available for use with GMXT. Go here and download the smallest mapset.
http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/us/cache/offonce/us/samsung/overview#fragment-3
Then extract the exe file to a location on your hard disk and browse for the "VOICE" folder. Copy the contents of the voice folder from the hard disk to the "VOICE" folder on the SD card of the phone where the GMXT is installed.
Hope this helps

You may be able to use 8 maps; or
With Gmaptool you can join/merge many maps in one gmapsupp.img file.

I am not wanted to reply to such a long thread. I think lessons leant should be included in the first post, such as:
- v5 only works with garmin GPS units as far as I can see. v4.10 is ok
- both maps and the program itself have to have a key created, and make sure it doesn't end with .txt
- you can split and join maps with GMapTool and others. If you already have mapsource (a PC program), you only need the program and not the maps
- YOU DON'T NEED RAPIDSHARE. You can get v4.10 on it's own off piratebay, and the maps from garmin direct (extract the .exe as a rar)
Anyway. My point here is that map coverage is awful: no suburbs, only a few cities listed in the UK:
GMapTool output. The last file is the one direct from Garmin!
Program start.

Program start.

jago,
GMXT v5 works on ANY S60 3rd ed. smartphone. I can vouch for that as I have installed it on the following Nokias:-
E90 Communicator
6110 Navigator
6210 Navigator
and no major glitches.
OK, I don't know much about the UK map coverage for Garmin. Normally they lead the rest.
Hope this helps.

simppa80,
inaccache had a similar problem with a map that he copied from a Garmin Nuvi and we tried all sorts of weird things to get it to work again on another device. It just didn't want to work, no matter what we did. I think your best bet is to try and get a map that works directly with Mapsource and transfer it to the device. Otherwise use the mapset you have got for Finland and use that instaed.
Hope this helps.
I purchased the gps software and maps off ebay. I thought I was buying a real version of software. When a burnt cd turns up with instruction to install on my pda and to send the id to him and he would send me three files to put in the garmin folder, I was really pissed off. I sent him the codes and he wrote back that they made no sence to him. So on the net I went and found the key gen and its all sweet on my MIO A701. 30 bucks for the the honor of doing it myself. The funny thing is I also purchased the nokia version off him also, not arrived as yet, for another 50 bucks. I ordered the nokia ones before I recieved the PDA disk. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
I have read this site and my mind is still getting around it but when/if my nokia garmin cd turns up I feel confident to install on my phone. I know all the files are here and I have downloaded some but still not quiet sure of everything.
Hope if I get stuck the forum will help me.
Cheers Ernie

Next time mate, just ask one of us on this forum and we will point you where the files are free :D
Now over charging people is wrong he could have been happy with £5 maybe £10 for the trouble of finding it, downloading it and copying it with all related info but £30/£50 quid thats wrong
All he advertised was gps software for PDA. I only looked on the net when he never come through with the keys. Thats when I found this site and started to read up. It was Australian dollars, so for one pda and two nokia he charged me 70 Aus dollars and I have not recieved the nokia disk yet and that was 10 days ago. When I played with the files form here on my E51 it was ok and I took the maps off the PDA disk and they worked but still have not tried it on the wifes 6220 as I want to get it write before I start on hers. The E51 has no built in GPS however the software installed ok off this site.
I also want the uk maps which I down loaded from here but they are in two parts. I am guessing that I will need to join these two files into one .img file?? And the POI when u put them in the garmin folder should they just show up?
Ok just answered my own question, to join the rar files just select both and I used 7zip and extract at same time and files are joined. I am a good boy.

You know selling pirated stuff on e-bay is highly frowned upon by e-bay. If you are so inclined, you could always report the seller.
Yes a rip off for sure, go to www.ebay.com.au and item number 320317795703 and item number 320318143997 most likely all from this forum.

Yes, a few of the guys on here has more than likely given this guy help on installing / downloading the software
then he is trying to sell for a bigger cut, small profits are acceptable if you run a website or a server to store files on for people, but not to abuse people and overcharge them

Hi all,
Couldn't help notice what happened and thought I would put in my inflation adjusted, non specific currency, 2 cents worth. It's bad that an individual exploits this forum to make a quick buck on unsuspecting users of the net. I have provided assistance numerous times to newbies (Heck, I may even have helped the jerk who now wants to make a fortune!) to the forum on how to install GMXT and compiled 2 howto pdf's that I freely distribute to those who would like guidance on how to get up and running. The only thing that I have asked in return is that the pdf's are forwarded free of charge and if the end-user wishes to, translate into another language (for the benefit of an international community). Then a jerk comes along and wants to make millions from other people's gullibility. My motto for this forum is:- You received free, you give free.

Anyway does not matter to much to me, been burnt before and will be burnt again, however over many many years I have got more out of the net for free than I have paid for, so I am still infront. I have had a great time over the last few days doing this project and am almost there, my last step is to unlock a uk map and all will be sweet. The aus map and NZ map went on fine just by copying the .img file to garmin folder on phone. Then I named a new .img file as per Tatoo above and it showed up as preinstalled maps and were showing ok. Then I got the downloaded uk map and put it in as a per tatoo and it showed preinstalled map but would not unlock. So I take it I need to unlock as per previous methods on this forum. I will try that and if I get stuck I will repost. Cheers

I'll gladly help there. PM me your email and I will email you 2 PDF files that gives you a rundown on how to install GMXT on a Symbian phone (no charges involved here, guaranteed (with the exclusion of your internet connection of course)). I learn't from this same forum and now I am paying back in helping here.

One question? Mapsource, I download mapsouce and when I run it I get rejected due to it saying no previous mapsource found. Am I only trying to install an update? Because to get my map id, which I do not know, I need to install in mapsource first. hmmm The map I am trying to install is Dublin, Ireland, Plymouth, England, SouthHampton, E.
hmm doing ok myself, unlocked that map using the imei converter to get 10 digit id then made my .ul file. The problem I had was that it was showing as a txt file so as per a previous post use phone file manager to delete the txt part. Than it was fine. I will try to put on wifes 6220 tonight and let you all know if I have had a win.
Cheers Ernie

tamate,
Mapsource needs to be installed from an original Garmin CD/DVD for the upgrade to work (can mail you a copy if you need it). All you need is GMapTool to get the mapset ID and obviously you have Jetmouse's keygen. Links to both apps are in the PDF's I mailed you. Hope this helps.

Just want to thank this forum for all the help that I received, it was a real enjoyable project putting the software and maps on our phones here. All worked very well and now all up and running and I am glad the bloke on ebay ripped me as I got a bit more knowledge now. Special thanks to Fugglefeet for his excellent PDF help files.
