hi, do you install this in the same way as prev versions? i have tried to install but can never find internal GPS on N95 or N95 8gb? i have the metroguide europe maps for uk and can view them ok? although dont know their mapid no?
the card id garmin says in phone is different to what the imei convertor generates but i have tried both? :confused:
any help would be greatly appreciated :)

try use keygen its working fine without imei converter just del the old ver and install new one

Hi,
What r u stuck with? Its quite straight forward once you know what to do.
First you need to run the Garmin V4.10.80 software which install setup files into your phone or mem card.
Once you have done that then go into the phone and install the GarminMobileXT.sis file.
The software should be installed into your phone now. Run GMobileXT from the phone and go to SETTINGS/ABOUT to get hold of you CARD ID which you would use for your Keygen provided.
Put the CARD ID into the Keygen, this would give you a device unlock code.
highlight and copy the code and paste it into a TEXT file called SW. Remember to remove the .txt (should look like this SW not SW.TXT) at the end of the SW file otherwise you program would not be unlocked. Save that file to the Garmin fold in you phone.
Now you will need map's. I use the new UK map with Post code searching from BuMobiles. Credits to BuMobiles. http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=469601&page=81

I'm very confused, and I hope someone can help. I've installed Garmin fine and used the keygen, and it detects my GPS no problem. But I don't understand how map files work. I keep seeing references to different "products" such as "city navigator 2008", and "map europa v9". What are these? Are they map files, or software? I thought Garmin was the app, and the map files were just data files. So why do these "map products" have names that make them sound like separate programs?
I already have Garmin installed, and I just need to install maps. Do I need to install additional software like "city navigator" first, or can I just install the maps into Garmin?

Just some notes: both sw and gmapsupp should have unl extention (sw.unl amd gmapsupp.unl). It may work the other way but that is what they should be.
If you use your card id than the software will only work with that card. You can also use EMIE nubmer with converter and tha software is than unlocked to your phone rather than the card. Matter of preferance if you intend to use moore than one card.
If you are unlocking the any part / country of the european city navigator NT maps than you can use europe form the list in keygen or go to custom and use 284.
Very new to all this so please exucse the newbie questions. Trying to install this on my N82 (should be possible right?). Wondering if anybody has any Canadian maps. Please and thank you.

The bit Im really stuck with is which folders to save the UNL files to? do they get saved to the GPX folder? do the maps get saved to the same folder?

You must create sw.unl file as descibed by danny_uk in post #27 to unlock device otherwise it will only look for Garmin GPS device.

Garmin Mobile XT works with any Nokias that have internal GPS devices (Nokia N95, Nokia 6110 Navigator)
1. Use a card reader to connect your MMC to PC, or connect phone using USB transfer mode.
2. Install Garmin Mobile XT for Symbian S60 software version 4.10.80
Run the file, it will copy all files to your MMC
3. Once installed on PC, Download the map of the countries you want and paste it to the MMC\Garmin folder.
4. Run Garmin Mobile XP on your phone, go to the ABOUT screen, write down the CARD ID. ( for use with Imei converter)
5. Use the keygen to generate 2 keys. Enter the CARD ID in the кeygen, choose the MAP PRODUCT or custom mapset - use the ID’s from

click on the 1st generate, then on the 2nd generate.
6. Copy the Device unlock key and paste the key and save the file as SW.UNL (not SW.UNL.txt) using Notepad
7. Copy the Map unlock key and paste the key and save the file as GMAPSUPP.UNL (not GMAPSUPP.UNL.txt) using Notepad
8. Copy the 2 above files to MMC\Garmin
9. Run Garmin Mobile XT, In SYSTEM - REMOTE GPS set your mobile GPS
(IF you don’t create the 2 files as mentioned, THEN in SYSTEM - REMOTE GPS –> you can ONLY pair with a GARMIN GPS DEVICE)

I was got stuck just like you have when trying to to install it as you will see from my previous posts! but kept trying and got there in the end!
The two UNL files must be installed in the garmin folder they dont have to go into GPX, the important thing is to ensure they do not have .txt after them otherwise they will not work, a good tip is to go into folder options on your PC and make sure "Hide extensions for known file types" box is unticked that way when you view the files you creat you will see if they have .txt after them.
I have version 4.10.20 installed and used keygen 1.3 by jetmouse, i did not need to use the imei covertor. i am planning to install this latest version as i now know what to do!

sounds like you need to check the UNL files you created, i had this problem and it was because the .txt extension was on the files, if this is the case they will not work.
Also can you view maps? if you can then this means the map unliock code is correct, so you may need to double check the SW.UNL file has the correct unlock no. as per the instructions.

Same happened to me also. When I remove map (Europe City Navigator 9) and it's unlock file Garmin starts but when I put them back it tries to start then forawhile it disappears.
Can somebody tell me what the IMEI converter does? I figured out how to enable the GPS aspect of garmin with my phone. I've unlocked City Navigator North America with code 244 and generated unlock for maps. Dumped maps int phone. I've pasted in a text called GMAPSUPP.ul and installed in Garmin folder. What also noticed in my GARMIN folder was GMAPSUPP.IMG When i start garmin it asked me for a 25 digit lock code. What am i missing here?
Can somebody tell me what the IMEI converter does? I figured out how to enable the GPS aspect of garmin with my phone. I've unlocked City Navigator North America with code 244 and generated unlock for maps. Dumped maps int phone. I've pasted in a text called GMAPSUPP.ul and installed in Garmin folder. What also noticed in my GARMIN folder was GMAPSUPP.IMG When i start garmin it asked me for a 25 digit lock code. What am i missing here?

I installed garmin v4.10.60 with europe NT v9 and NO problems...
I install garmin v4.10.80 : i unlock internal GPS. but after no map found... europe NT v9 (map id 197) or europe NT 2008 (map id 284).

Nope i remove the extension TXT and its in my folder, still askes me for a 25 digit key code.
Okay final got everything working. Thnx everybody. Anybody know how I can get voice on this thing when im navigating?

I found 4.10.60 too slow, i think it caused by having a very large map, unlike sygic or nokia map who uses loads of small bits for faster rendering.
I hope 4.10.80 is improved.

Can U make Garmin tell street names like Garmin PC does ???
I've done everything which is suggested..... yet when I start up garmin then it comes up with the GPS message "searching for GPS device" - what have I done wrong?
I then get "could not authenticate Garmin GPS Hardware"....
Any ideas?

In Garmin on the device go to Settings -> System -> Remote GPS and ensure that the settings are for the integrated GPS.

Make sure the SW.UNL and GMAPSUPP.UNL DO NOT have a .txt behind it. Used phone's file manager to check. On PC make sure you chose "Show known file extension"

You can only have maxim of 4 maps including basemap and here is how:
Gmapbmap.img -->base map
Gmapsupp.img -->your map
Gmapsup2.img -->another map
Gmapprom.img -->another map

Yup. Look at the logs for the update. No need to uninstall, just run the new version.

Install Garmin and the maps. If you don't bother with a proper sw.unl file, or do not have a GPS receiver, the program will still work as a stand alone map. It will give an error after a while at startup - bout unable to find GPSr. Just cancel out of that.

With the map installed on your PC, you can use Mapsource (the Garmin program on PC) to:
1) Enter your unlock codes to the map directly (no more messing with gmapsupp.unl etc).
2) Use Garmin unlocker and unlock the entire map for all devices.
3) Select part or all of the entire map to your device.
4) Select different maps, say Eurpe and USA, and export the entire lot to your device, memory permitting. Mapsource will warn if maps don't fit.

What r u stuck with? Its quite straight forward once you know what to do.
First you need to run the Garmin V4.10.80 software which install setup files into your phone or mem card.
Once you have done that then go into the phone and install the GarminMobileXT.sis file.
The software should be installed into your phone now. Run GMobileXT from the phone and go to SETTINGS/ABOUT to get hold of you CARD ID which you would use for your Keygen provided.
Put the CARD ID into the Keygen, this would give you a device unlock code.
highlight and copy the code and paste it into a TEXT file called SW. Remember to remove the .txt (should look like this SW not SW.TXT) at the end of the SW file otherwise you program would not be unlocked. Save that file to the Garmin fold in you phone.
Now you will need map's. I use the new UK map with Post code searching from BuMobiles. Credits to BuMobiles. http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=469601&page=81
Now you will need to enter the MAP ID into the Keygen which is 284 if you are using Bumobiles UK map or a different MAP ID for the different maps you are using. The Keygen would create a code which you would have to save into a Text file again called GMAPSUPP. Remove the .txt like the last file. (the file should look like GMAPSUPP not GMAPSUPP.txt) Put this into the Garmin fold in the phone like last time. Make sure both the create text files dont end in Txt, so check with File manager 1st.
Now run the program from the phone as it should be working fine now. It would search for a Bluetooth GPS so cancel it and then and go to SETTINGS/SYSTEM to enable the Assisted GPS (the built in GPS on the N95).
Should be working 100% fine with the N95 GPS as iv tried it with the N95-1 and N95-2 8GB.

It is not save as a text file. Make sure your file is SW.UNL and NOT SW.UNL.txt On your PC you have to set it as "Show Known File Extension" or use your phone's file manager to check

Use the IMEI to Garmin Unit ID converter. Take the Unit ID number and generate your file using Keygen

How do you enable the voice, turn-by-turn and/or street voice prompts feature?

The application starts nicely but then cannot find the GPS. On the E50 I was ask for the coupon code to activate. Now on the P990 no coupon code were ask and Mobile xt do not find GPS. Can somone help??

Garmin Mobile XT works with any Nokias that have internal GPS devices (Nokia N95, Nokia 6110 Navigator)
1. Use a card reader to connect your MMC to PC, or connect phone using USB transfer mode.
2. Install Garmin Mobile XT for Symbian S60 software version 4.10.80

(IF you don’t create the 2 files as mentioned, THEN in SYSTEM - REMOTE GPS –> you can ONLY pair with a GARMIN GPS DEVICE)

Thanx Daravon. Mobile Xt is running on my P990. Basemap is working fine. I also have a streetmap for South Africa but its not working. None of the posible codes in the list are working. How do I look for Code Id in gmapsupp.img file?
So could you tell me what's code for Cambodia's Map?
Have not seen the map. You'll need to go it yourself with the tool call gmaptool.
Alternatively, make the map available to download, and we can get the info for you.

on N70, map shows gps location to be 2km away from actual location (but shows correct gps loctaion when using N91)

I installed 4.10.80 on my N95 8GB and installed the sis file from the res folder. Now when i go to open garmin xt thru the menu, it gets to a garmin splash screen then exits back out to menu everytime? I have the support and voice and basemap installed and not put anything else on the phone yet.

hi guys... it seems that my bluetooth gps cannot find the gps device. The A-GPS works fine but I don't want to use the data transfer. I have done all procedure perfectly and have the sw.unl with the unlock code for the phone. (Was wondering after you get the code, you make a txt document and then open it then put the code inside and save then rename the extention to sw.unl which turns to a 1kb file.) On the other hand my nokia maps bluetooth gps works but not on my garmin xt. Any ideas?

I finally found the problem for my Nokia n95 8gb. You must generate both the key for the SW.UNL and the map at the same time and install them in the Garmin map. I just generated the code for the SW.UNL and installed it. I just never could find the internal GPS but after installing both it worked immediatly. Follow the ENTIRE guide and it should work.

a little help needed here please , ive got garmin working on the n95 now i got maps of north america in mapsource i transferred them to device but cant see any map its in the folder on garmin map sets but when i view map nothing is this because im trying to view america maps in brittain or is there something wrong
If you are not getting any errors when you start Garmin, the all is well. Garmin will default to somewhere over Europe if you do not have a GPS lock. Once the lock is achieved, it will show your location.
If you are over the pond, then zoom out as far as you can go, scroll over to the country you want on the world map, and then zoom in.

If the maps are listed in mapsets, and you are not getting any prompts, then you have installed the US maps correctly. Do you have the basemap installed? If not, get it from Garmin: http://www8.garmin.com/support/collection.jsp?product=010-00378-00

Why wait? Just use the map and try to locate/search a few landmarks or hotels you'll be staying in. Once located, add them to favourites and make your life easier when you get there.

You have to use POI loader from garmin website. It is free application. Take you card out of your nokia where Garmin is installed and put it in your PC. Run the program, point it to the file once you decompresed it and follow the instructions.

When you unrar the files with part 1, 2 ... you only need to unrar one of the parts. It will always decompres all parts and create same file in the end. You can only have one file called gmapsupp.img and that is the detailed map file. the .unl file is unlock file and you should create one for the map that goes with your unit as explained a few times in this thred using keygen.

I managed to use the keygen to create a code for the card id unlock. File created is called SW.UNL (created in notepad) copied it to the garmin directory of the SD card.
program starts up and all is ok. GPS works fine too.

next step Maps!!!...Didn't need to create a GMAPSUPP.UNL file as the .rar file had it within. Unfortunately, whoever packaged the map added their unlocking keys. It is good only for their device, not yours. You'll need to generate a new one.
I wonder if Garmin could trace the phone from the unlock keys??? It is a case of reverse engineering like the crackers did in the first instance.

Given that someone has installed the maps on their PC, and then exported it to their device, and make the exported map available, one can never be too sure of the source of the map. I've borrowed my mates n95 8gb to install Garmin XT mobile. 4.10.80.
Steps taken.:cool:
1. Master reset
2. GarminMobileXTforSymbianS60_41080.exe installed
2. GarminMobileXTSupportFiles_4***x.exe installed
3. GarminMobileXTFreeBasemap_4***x.exe installed
4. turn off phone
5. turn on phone ....Installation of .sis file started automatically
6. on the phone, press menu, applications and press on garmin xt icon
7. garmin xt mobile starts up, go to settings then about
imei: 2061489***
Imsi: 1609304890
card id: 2894051
Now what do I go to get the app activated? :confused:and also please can someone post links for latest UK maps, ;)

Worked fine on mine. Had 4.10.60 installed. Copied the files across, ran the installer, and it updated 4.10.60 to 4.10.80.

Make sure you also have a basemap installed. Go to the Garmin site for it.

Overview :

STEP-1: unpack files
*bt.sisx
*GPSd.jar
*tomtom.sisx
*0.Copy.To.MEMCARD.Root.rar (you have to unpack this file also..the u will have TOMTOM folder..)
*TOMTOM folder
STEP-2: before start if u have tomtom installed on your phone, uninstall it...!!!!
and delete TOMTOM folder from memory-card also (for who had errors like, "tomtom is not starting, only globe pic spinning / connecting to bluetooth device and keeps waiting...and then not connecting")
STEP-3: make a folder like TOMTOM-PATCH on your phone's memory-card, and copy these files in it..

STEP-4: copy TOMTOM folder (what you had unpacked and came from 0.Copy.To.MEMCARD.Root.rar file) to root of your memory-card of ur phone..
STEP:5 now unplug ur memory-card or ur phone from computer, and open any file-browser in your phone, go to folder TOMTOM-PATCH
STEP-6: Install 1.bt.sisx, 2.GPSd.jar Install 3.tomtom.sisx
STEP-7: Run "bt" from the applications menu (once is enough, it will add a virtual bluetooth device) (this can be uninstalled later if u need) and no need to run everytime before u open tomtom!!
STEP-8: Run "GPSd" from the applications menu (open this everytime before you open tomtom)
(GPSd app will ask some connections, you have to say yes to all, otherwise it wont connect int-GPS with tomtom.. saying yes to "allow application GPSd to use network and send or recieve data.. " it will connect internet (by GPRS) to get satellite list for A-GPS (Assisted GPS) (if it needs to) this happens if u didnt use int-gps long time or for faster gps connection type..
SO....ofcourse it will cost (and there is no way to make it use W-LAN), but its a very small data.)
STEP-9: Run TomTom from the applications menu and
Configure TomTom:
1) Set preferences (such as distance/time format)
2) Choose "Other GPS Device" from the GPS setup menu
3) Allow TomTom to turn on Bluetooth
4) Choose "BiNPDA GPS" from the bluetooth device list
then wait for connection...
DONE!
* You need to change the preferences every time you start tomtom. It won't
remember that you were using the internal GPS*
* If you need to switch from internal, to an "external" receiver, you may need
to click on "tomtom receiver", and then "other receiver" to get the list of devices again.

i installed garmin 3 offiical files onto my phone.
and could browse and look at garmin last night.
today it says no gps found. and the app closes.
(i havnt used the keygen, converter, done all those things yet)

Maps can come in one of several variety:
1) gmapsupp.img - an installed packed variety. Garmin Mobile Xt read this map directly, if it has an unlock key. This can be extracted off devices or someone compile a section of a larger map for their device and make it available.
2) CD/DVD - Official maps from Garmin. These need to be installed on a PC, and require one unlocking key to install. These keys are often included on the disc itself as a readme, or on sticker on official discs. Mapsource is part of this program, and is used to add your unlock keys to map(s), explore maps, and select + send maps to your device. Can also be used to combine maps. Maps will be exported as gmapsupp.img. If device have a map of same name already, it';ll be overwritten.
3) Other installer - Maps made using programs such as cGPSmapper and will result in a gmapsupp.img image that can be read by Garmin devices. These are non official maps. Some are locked, other are not.

Garmin mobile XT, once installed will search for a Garmin GPSr. If you have one, then it will then use it. If you have a non Garmin GPS recevier, then an unlock key in the name of sw.unl is needed. This key is generated with JetMouse's keygen, and saved as a file named sw.unl via notepad ewtc. Problem is, notepad adds .txt at the end of files it saves automatically, and that needs to be removed.
Maps, if unlocked will work just fine. If locked, will require an unlocking code generated with the keygen and saved as corresponding <MAPNAME>.unl (MAPNAME could be gmapsupp, gmapprom, or gmapsup2)

This file does not exists when you just install Garmin Mobile Xt from their website. You need to create it with notepad, and save it as sw.unl (with your unlock key in it of course) and then transfer it to the Garrmin folder on your phone.

That's it. Garmin Mobile is installed. Just need to create your unlock key (sw.unl) and send it to the Garmin folder on your phone.
After that, you have to look at maps and how to unlock the maps...

Anyone know how to transfer a saved track from the phone (Nokia 6110) to PC (Mapsource)? I start Mapsource, import tracks, maps and routes from the GPS (Nokia), but when i look on Mapsource, only the maps and routes that i have saved on my phone are available - not the track that was saved on my phone???
I also cannot display a saved track on my Garmin GPS map??

hi, ive used IMEI converter and key gen..........i made the notepad file.........SW.UNL...........with no .txt extension......put it in my garmin folder on phone.......and it still does not pick up my internal gps.
- i have gone into positioning setting on my phone (n95 8gb) and ticked integrated gps, ticked bluetooth even...........still nothing.
- garmin says searching for GPS device, no GPS device found, try agian? never picks it up
- and whenever i load up garmin, it turns my phones bluetooth ON, even when bluetooth is turned off.
(i got my IMEI number by, *=06#, put it into IMEI converter, got my garmin unit id, put that into the keygen, generated device unlock code, and then copied and pasted this into notpad and saved it as SW.UNL.............(do caps work? or does it need to be in lower case)........theres no .txt extension.........put it into my garmin folder on my N95 8GB.
any ideas anyone. much appreciated.

Don't connect the phone, just use card reader. Garmin installers will look for card it self. Once you have everything you need ( program files, support files, basemap, img map file, sw.unl, gmapsupp.unl) than just insert card back into the phone and it should install automatically and if not restart your phone. Restart before inserting your card as well. Sometimes it does not loke some programs running on the phone.
all this process is not worth it.
its better to just use a standalone sat nav in the car.....
nokia maps if fine for the free functions.
this process is too time consuming and weird. IMO.
I have 1:250k topo maps. Is it possible to create my own topo maps for use in Garmin Mobile XT ?

Put the CARD ID into the Keygen, this would give you a device unlock code.
highlight and copy the code and paste it into a TEXT file called SW. Remember to remove the .txt (should look like this SW not SW.TXT) at the end of the SW file otherwise you program would not be unlocked. Save that file to the Garmin fold in you phone.

keygen is a little thing....it generates code.....you do it on the pc......and then put the code into notepad.....and save the file accordingly and then you put that file into garmin folder in your phone (n95 8gb)

well, i cant even get into garmin........when i start the app, it automatically says searching for gps device, device not found.......and i just re-try several times, and when i cancel, the app just closes.
does it matter is SW.UNL file is named sw.unl.........ie. in lowercase? or does it have to be in caps??

Mapsource is the official installation program for Garmin maps. It comes with all the Garmin CD and DVD you buy! Pop the disc in, and Mapsource gets installed, as well as the area map on the disc.
Latest Europe is NT 2008. (If you are using Mobile XT, you will need the NT maps).
Not sure if Garmin released a UK/Ireland map only. If so, the the 2008 NT will be the same as that in the whole of Western Europe.
People do make the .img file (exported from Mapsource to device or ripped directly off devices) available, but you are at the mercy of the people who did the ripping or exporting as to what gets omitted etc.

Just tested this with UK map and its not that accurate.. the roads on the map are adhead of arrow even if u are crossing it. Maybe its a map issue.

Errors in road not uncommon. Whilst driving in UK and Ireland last holiday, some of the roads were over water, esp around Blarney Castle. Just have to wait for next update...

But not able to configure with my external GPS not Garmin GPS its seraching not able to detect external GPS. I tried with Nokia Maps its

The Mapsource+map program needs to be installed on your PC. From there, run Mapsource, connect the phone, select the tiles you need, and export it to phone.

Hi All,
I have a question it is a little bit off topic but I'm sure someone can help. I have a Garmin Nuvi 660 with Europe NT and Hungary map. So I would like to add a few more maps (Adria, Hellas...) on a SD card which I have downloaded and unlocked in Mapsource. Now when I upload them on SD card with SD CARD ID and insert it in Nuvi the Nuvi says the maps are not unlocked. But when I upload the maps the same maps onto N95 8GB (no SD card), they all work fine.
Please note that I don't want to touch the maps that are on the Garmin unit itself as the are original ones that I have got with when I bought it.
What am I doing wrong?

At what likns you refer to?....the links for Ro.a.d work...
And i finaly managed to make Garmin XT work with RO.A.D 2006 but my previous maps were deleted:(..and replaced with the Romania ona...
Is there a way that i can use more Mapsets?

I have read over 100 posts about how to set and install garmin xt, I repeated the steps more than 5 times, but when I search for GPS device I have the same results: "GPS not found" ... I've checked the SW.unl and the GMAPSUPP.unl files and are ok. I ticked "use Bluetooth GPS" option, in settings, everything looks ok ... but the same s*** "GPS not found", PLS somebody tell me where am I wrong ...
My phone is a Nokia E56 and my bluetooth is a BlueNext BN-909GR (http://www.bluenext.co.uk/bluetooth-gps/bn-806f-bluetooth-gps.html)
PS Before I used tomtom6 and everything was ok.

i fixed it, downloaded another uk map from torrent and then reinstalled garmin and now i can do postcode

Hi guys, firstly thank you all for your input and software, I generally search for other ppl's problems and use that to fix my own, but for the last 2 days I have battled, I am now frustrated and want to throw away my phone. I installed Garmin Mobile XT 4.10.80 S60 onto my Nokia 6110 Navigator, I got it to the point where everything works fine, but I only have base maps and I need detailed maps for South Africa [which I cannot seem to find anywhere], I searched around and found that the custom codes for these maps are 23 and 707 respectively, I have tried both, with no luck. I have been on my pc for the last 7 hours, and still no luck. Please someone help me. :confused:

You have mean that you cannot start application?
GarminMobileXT work well and on N70 ( with or without connected external Bluetooth paired GPS device) for example, so you must haven't any troubles with N73 ... but must to install free basemap ( you have overlook even you haven't detailed map on current location ) and additional features - voices, helps, ect... to make it working... GarminMobileXT work well in offline mode ...

Hi, I've succusfeully install GMXT into my 6110 Navi, can read internal GPS but i still cant use a map from MalSing. Can find the map code for me to unlock, can anyone help? Thank you very much in advance.
