LocateProtect makes your symbian - phone ask you if anybody wants to locate it. this might be your provider as well as anybody using a IMSI-Catcher.

Symbian OS 9.1 S60 3rd edition is required,
however, these models should be able to block those requests:

Nokia: N71, N73, N80, N91, N93i, N75, N76, N95, E50, E60, E61, E62, E70, 3250, 6290
Samsung: SGH-i520
LG: Joyi think the N82 should be supported as well but i didn't check yet.

application is around 20€ and a demo is available at cognid (http://www.cognid.de/newcce/pmw/Produkte/Downloads3)

Every phone is always located, maybe not so precise as with GPS but at least with CGI-TA (angle and timing advance) down to about 100 meters in a city.

This localisation is stored and given to "big brother" (your STASI or whatever it is called now) for whatever they want to do with it...

IMSI catchers want your phone to transmit unscrambled, would be nice if you could detect and prevent that.
