Locatik v0.97 - now without any invitations ! [update 21/05/2008]

Q. What is Locatik?
Locatik is a place recommendation service introduced last year by Psiloc. It solves the ultimate question of “Where to?”, which we ask more often in the new places we find ourselves in. Locatik will have the answer to that question, literally at hands reach, in no time. The social powered algorithms Psiloc has developed for Locatik will provide you with suggestions, based on a combination of both user-generated and premium content, that you won’t have to think twice about.
Just imagine ending up in the chic part of town in the late afternoon, what is there to see? Where to hang out? Just see what Locatik thinks of the places your friends, friends of your friends or the locals are recommending in the area beyond the touristy mainstream, a truly personal guide, out there in the unknown. What if you and your friend drive by a town you never set foot in before, and just happen to feel like a steak? You will be the one asking Locatik for recommendations, you will be the one that knows the best steak house in town.

If you were concerned about the battery life when using Locatik, this is the version you were waiting for.
We investigated several GPS algorithms and decided on the one giving the longest battery life. It's in version 0.97.
You may have already noticed that we are opening Locatik up a bit, step by step. From now on, new users can register directly from the device or from the website, without any invitations. No need for your friends to apply for an invitation anymore, they can just register in Locatik themselves.
We have also implemented messaging in this version, it will be rolled out in the next week or two on your web accounts, it's already there however on the mobile. Go ahead, you can message anyone from your People list.
