RIP Ericsson R380s

My ericsson R380s has given up, it started with memory errors and usually it says i can format it! This time it just went blank.
I removed the battery and when i tried to switch it on it just showed the start up screen twice (which was unusual) then showed a blank screen with the backlight still on. The screen doesn't work so i cant dial or answer but it still rings if i call my number.

Is it possible to format it externally or what should I do. Help needed.

I've downloaded the .bin and .sbin files and tryed uploading them to the phone but the programs say hold NO for a while and that just doesn't work. ANyone with suggestions please help!

u damaged the pda part :(
U need to reflash it!!! (the flash is 8 meg !!)
I had the same problem . I had to reflash ir full (phone 1.5 meg, pda 8 meg, eeprom 64k).
Now phone alive again.
for flashing full r380 u need a differnt cable that a t28 :( (the phone u flash with normal cable, the pda with different cable!!)

Where can I download the bin files and instructions how to upgrade my r380 firmware?

I have tried the following (and it worked fine) :

first U have to have ATR5.3 and a working *.bin file

( don't connect the phone yet, don't start it and make sure to unplug the batterie and re-plug it).
start the ATR5.3
choose the R320
choose the write EE (eeprom)
select the bin file
now the program will ask U to press ON for a short time
connect the phone now ( it was not connected, right? )
the writing process will start and would take about 15min.
afterwords .......
with some luck ur phone will get alive.

I've been searching for the .bin files but can't find these!
(i've got ATR5.3).
Could someone please let me know where to get this file or send them to me??

I would appriciate your help in this, I think i have a phone with a damaged PDA part, (the 8 meg file)

I got my hand on this phone today from a guy who said the phone had been wrongly flashed, and now it does not work anymore. The fault is that it does not matter what key is pressed, the display just lights up shortly and then gone! same thing if you open the flip, nothing else.

What I have done.

1 : Reflashed the phone with a .sbn and .bin file with ATR. 5.3
2 : Repaired IMEI number with ATR 5,3 as written on the backsticker

But still the phone has the same fault. When battery is put on and I press e.g 4 or any other key, screen lits up one second and goes out again, I dont even have to press the "Power On" button!!!

Can't seem to put my finger on anything else here, have searched the old threads, but no results at all, can't even find any sites which have any other flash files for this phone.

You mention that the PDA part have to be flashed with another cable, do you have the schematics for this cable ?? and most important, can you help me out with the full flash set that you have used ?

I have succeeded in solving the pda problem
butthe result of that is:
1. the phone is working fine I mean the PDA
2. it does not accept any card anymore
I mean it get SP locked.
couldn't solve that yet.
I do have a file with .bin of 32K which is an eeprom and a file of *.sbn of 1.5MB (looks like a flash ) but not succeded to get any 8MB thing.
in the ATR5.3 try change between the R310 and the R320 until U get it to start writing .
I could send U the files but the result problem of SP-locking , can't garantee, any body with a solution to SP-lock on R380 can help us

i've got a working r380. Is it possible to read the flash and dowload it to the damaged one.

Would appriciate if you send me the flash file set you have for the R380. The flash and EEprom I have is 00W48, but did not solve my problem.

Can't say for sure, but I would suggest you try out "Total Flasher BY Jethro"

I was able to upload a .bin 2meg to the phone using this.

When you read flash, you should choose size 2 MB and Eeprom 32 KB
