I've had a lot of assistance from Mo and as a result now seem to be able to update navcores patch them, install new maps, I've even started to play with the different emulations settings!!! I'm currently running 8.410(1218) and UL & IR Maps 8.25(2157) on a recent One XL, so no bluetooth or SD slot, (why did they drop those !). There are a couple of things which still illude me.
Firstly the TTS system completely baffles me. I can see the Luquedo folder but how do I enable the function. I assume because its a text to speach system I don't need additional voices ?
Secondly on the route summery screen it says that IQ routes is disabled. Is this a limitation of the One XL or is there something I need to change to use this facility, possibly in the emulation settings ?
Thanks in advance
Ian

1. There are 2 types of voices, Recorded & Computer. Recorded only give instructions. Computer give instructions & read street names, etc. Go to Change preferences, Voice preferences, Change voice to see what voices you have. Computer voices are identified. Then go to Speech preferences for settings.

2. IQ settings. Change preferences, Planning preferences (page 6), select "Always plan fastest routes", click IQ Routes, Enable.

Thanks for that Tendriver
The penny finally drops (a case of RTFI Read The F***** Instructions) I think !
1. I clearly only have recorded human voices installed, so I need to install a computer voice.... Dare I ask for a link ?
2. Again been so wraped up installing Navcores and Maps I hadn't even looked at the root planning options. I now have IQ routes, sounds as if that will be quite a useful feature looking forward to trying it.
Thanks again

1. TT Home, "Add Traffic, Voices, Speed Cameras, etc", Voices, Computer Voices.

2. Bluetooth. Changing Preferences (page 7) is Bluetooth preferences grayed out?

Thanks again Tendriver

1. I'll try TTHome it will be a good check to see if it is still working after installing the new Navcores and maps !!

2. The Bluetooth preferences are grayed out but I assumed that to be correct as I was under the impression that the newer XL's dont have the Bluetooth hardware (or SD slot for that matter). Is the Bluetooth required for the IQ routes to function ?
I thought the main plus of the IQ routes was that it used actual average speed for journey timings. (should improve accuracy I would have though).

1. TT Home will work, if you've patched the TT Home folder.

2. BT is not required for IQ.

3. You are correct about IQ. It figures fastest route based on day of week, and time of day.

If it is a Customized message, look in the root for a file "changedtext.txt".

Why would anyone care to change the name of his/her TT device in the first place?
SE_ configs let you do it. Adding to confusion, I'd say... :)
Try dsa instead, it's free of configs.

ASR is not required for computer voice (LoquendoTTS), but for voice recognition.

As a rule of thumb, you can recognize a thankaholic for having at LEAST a three digit number of thanks, received OR given.
I'd say, you are on the safe side, for now. :)

thanks for that, you learn something new every day.
i was aware that the 2157 maps were more detailed than the 2159 series maps but i was not aware that the 2158 maps were also more detailed than the 2159 series maps.

i was under the assumption that the 2158 and 2159 series were of the same detail but the 2158 were designed to run on older clunkier tomtom's more nativly than the 2159 series maps.

not meaning to be nasty or any thing mate but tendriver posted up a updated navcore compatibility chart about 4 or 5 posts above yours.

a little leg work on your part would not go a miss, you tend to get more help from others if they know your at least prepared to help your self rather than just expect some one else to do all the work for you.

I wonder if anyone one else is experiencing this.

I'm still having no luck with loquendo on my One XL. From not understanding the 'computer voice' system at all I have installed a voice from TomTom Home (Kate). The voice selects ok and all the preferences are there to be checked but if I 'Test' the voice, nothing. The same is true when navigating, no voice. I have tried this with 8.410 and 8.412 on different XL's (an older version with SD slot and the newer version without). I have also tried different emulation settings x40 and x40L, although not sure whether these are actully selectable on the XL. I wonder if the voice has installed in the correct folder, I relied on TomTom Home to put it in the right folder. (Its in the Loquuendo folder not the root, TomTom seems to be seeing it in the voice selection.)

I trawled throught previous posts but can't find anything quite like this or indeed anyone actaully claiming to have this working.

Has anyone actually got Loquendo running on an XL or will it only run on the 'larger' units ?

look forward to hearing your thoughts

1) Install LoquendoTTS.zip -- INSTEAD of your current LoquendoTTS folder (if any).
2) Then install v8.310 (it comes with the ASR folder). If it works, you could proceed to v8.412.

Instead of (2) you could install v8.302 only (top of class x30).

connect your tomtom to your pc with a usb cable and turn it on, it will ask if you want to connect the device to the pc. click yes

first make a full backup of your device ( just copy and paste the entire contents of the device to a folder on your pc.

now copy the new navcore over the existing files and when asked to overwrite click yes.

thats pretty much it.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry is probably a silly question but im new here. Do i have to delete all the content of the gps. I mean delete all the original files before installing the new ones? Also will the uk map that came with it work with the new soft?

Not necessarily.
Maps, it's another story...

Thanks Uberdude. Just a question. What should i do to get the maps working. I've got the original one that came with it (uk and Irland). Will that work? Also will my original voices still work?

you will need to generate the dct file for the map or maps you wish to use and you will need to patch the relevant system files.
there are loads of easy activators posted in this thread with instructions. such as alberts easy installer. it may take a while to look through this thread and find these but they are there

i'm sorry for being vague but i'm at work at the moment and can only spend a few moments on the net at a time, but all the answers you need are in this thread. work your way back through the thread from this page and you will be ok.

Link to dsa_navcore.8204-hybrid.zip:

http://www.2shared.com/file/5446029/794071ac/dsa_navcore8204-hybrid.html

This is combination between a v8.204 CAB and PNDNavigator on one hand, and a v8.412 ttsystem (adjusted slightly) on the other...
It works with go910.
The screen does not flicker, but the available memory is reduced to about 10 MB... I don't recall whether that was normal for v8.204...
I wouldn't recommend it. It's released per request :)

That's odd.

You should have these files:
LoquendoTTS/default.session
LoquendoTTS/LicenseCode.txt
LoquendoTTS/lib/LoqAudioBoard.so
LoquendoTTS/lib/LoqTTS6.so
LoquendoTTS/default7.session
LoquendoTTS/LicenseCode7.txt
LoquendoTTS/bin/LTTS7AudioBoard.so
LoquendoTTS/bin/libLoqTTS7.so
LoquendoTTS/
LoquendoTTS/data/
(referred to by PNDNavigator)
You should NOT have the VocalizerTTS folder, I think.

But going with VocalizerTTS instead of LoquendoTTS is also possible; then get rid of LoquendoTTS folder and make sure that you have these files:
VocalizerTTS/common/speech/components/SSFTAudioBoard.so
VocalizerTTS/common/speech/vocalizermobile.hdr
VocalizerTTS/vmobile_select_ (?)
You can get VocalizerTTS from posts #9 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=3608751&postcount=9) and #10 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=3608778&postcount=10).

You should try a clean install too:

0) Check storage for errors.
1) Remove entirely your current LoquendoTTS folder. Install mine from post #2213 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4166847&postcount=2213). Check things out, you might be done here.

You'll be sure this way that nothing has been mis-configured earlier, because nothing is to be configured.
Note that LoquendoTTS is said to be better than VocalizerTTS, but try them both out.

Good luck.

I'll try another clean install tonight. I had tried your post #2213 with no luck. I have also tried the mp3 player for the first time today (hadn't tried it as I just assumed it would be ok !), that fails to work also so I think there something wrong.

These features aren't really of any use to me its just that I've been bitten by the bug now and can't leave the thing alone !

I'll keep trying.

Hi dsa8310

I'll try V8.310 Navcore (havn't tried this at all yet). Hovever I notice that these are dsa rather than se cores. I'm going to be using these on a One XL (new style) and I'm unclear as to whether I can use dsa core. Or indeed for that matter what the difference is. I do note that the CAB files are for a 940.

Thanks again

If you have the original Navcore Version (Firmware) then you need to get a program called yDGpatch and patch the ttsystem file of your device, Your old maps will still work. I think Tendriver has got this posted up in a few posts back, you will have to search a little.

NEW SPEED CAMERA'S & META.TXT FILE - 23-04-09

http://www.2shared.com/file/5468105/d91d1161/Cameras__Meta_23-04-09.html

Courtesy of The Maverick

Just a quick tip: the .ver files are not needed to enable the use of the speed cams Thanks to Tendriver.

These Cameras will work for any map covering these countries.
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden & UK.

To install:
You don't need the PNA or META from a map.
What you do need is:
Download EasyUseTools (Keygen).
The two files .VER and .Ov2 for each camera (copied into) "insert_meta_from_Map_here"
A meta.txt with the meta code for the cameras in Progs folder
Your device ID
Click on the command program called "RunMeforDCT"
Select normally 1 (enter)
Select normally 1 again (enter)
Type in your Device ID (enter)
Close the "RunMeforDCT" window
Copy the VER, Ov2 and newly created DCT files from "insert_meta_from_Map_here" folder into your map.

(Installation instructions thanks to Rytenuff)

PLEASE NOTE: These Camera Files are NOT like normal POI's, for more information on this and also to check to see if your camera's work, check this post: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4356191&postcount=3348

PS. There are many new patching tools now to choose from that are very easy to use that you can find on previous posts.

Enjoy & Please show your Appreciation!!!

If you are referring to this phone http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i617_blackjack_ii-2213.php ,

then download TT navigator 7:

first try the qvga version as your phone screen is 320x240

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=B9DX194X

if the icons are too large or it doesn't work, try the VGA version which works well for me:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=D2OJ6HCX

to install:

connect your phone to PC

transfer the .....cab file to your phone (it's better to put it in the memory card)
disconnect from PC

open the file - it should install itelf

not sure if it's neccesary but connect the device to PC again and change the tomtom navigator.exe with the one you downloaded.

restart the phone. That's it, it should work.

The maps that work with TTN7 are 2159. they need to have a .dct file just like TT GO or TT ONE devices.

Haven't tried but if you want to upgrade maps, move all the TT Navigator files from e.g. Program Files/ Navigator to the root of the memory card. then connect to a PC( note that TT home needs to be patched with yDG) and start TT home. It shoud see your device. When you're over, you can transfer all the file you moved to the root directory back to the Program Files/ Navigator.

Hope it helps;)

Thanks for the detailed instructions. How can I update the Navcore version to get the TTS (Text to Speech) worked. Currently using TOMTOM 7. Please help. Thanks

Hi DSA8310

Well as I said previously I'm using a XL (new thin unit) and cannot get TTS or MP3 to work, everything else is fine.

I have now tried 8.310 8.410 and 8.412 Navcores clearing internal flash before installing the CAB files then patched navcore. Each time the result is the same. All menus are working, all navigation functions working (including IQ and lane guidance and normal recorded sound) the MP3 and Loquedo voices just don't play.

Can it just be that the Xl does not have the hardware to play the MP3

Any thoughts

Sometimes the downloaded map folder is put inside another folder, when it is unzipped. Open your new map folder. You should see a "brand" folder and a bunch of files, not just another single map folder..

Depends which map version you have installed but but upgrading to a new NC does not mean that you will lose IQ Routing in most cases.

Install the TTconsolereboot.zip from this link:

http://www.2shared.com/file/5486256/60cac395/TTconsolereboot.html

over the top of your main storage.
Then restart. Two new menu items will appear, named "Text Console" and "Reboot TomTom", on last main menu page (4).
"Reboot TomTom" just restarts TT.

1) Launch "Text Console". Use a stylus/pen to click the screen. Press the upper right button labeled "Keyb" to have the on screen keyboard displayed.
2) Issue command "cat /bin/barcellona/loquendo" (followed by <Ret>) (Quotes are NOT part of command).
If the value displayed is NOT equal to "1", then this might be the reason your TTS does not work.
3) Leave the "Text Console" program by pushing the <Quit> button.

Let me know what the "loquendo" value is. I will fix ttsystem if that's the case.

Hello,

Just a quick question.

I am currently using NC 8.410 with GO920 and want to try 8.412. Would you recommend DSA or SE version and why?

Thanks in advance.

Dsa, it works :D. Well, I have old Go910 with dsa8.412 and I have no problems. I also noticed that dsa nc8412 uses less memory and istallation is very easy and dsa8310 has made a very easy "how to do it" info. But don't kill me if something goes wrong :D

Hello,

Just a quick question.

I am currently using NC 8.410 with GO920 and want to try 8.412. Would you recommend DSA or SE version and why?

Thanks in advance.

When they work, they are indistinguishably to the bare eye.

PNDNavigator is identical.
ttsystem is interchangeable. The default SE is (almost) identical to dsa's. The SE configurable params could be a blessing or a curse. I suppressed them entirely aiming to full features. I might have missed the "loquendo" param, pending Ian's feedback.
In general, one cannot test hardware one does not have. That was true for SE's x40 ttsystems that were not working with go910s. Now they do. Actually, as a go910 owner, that is why I begun my dsa works, fixing patching for go910.
Memory savings are (almost) the same. Earlier, you had to add the SE Outsourced folder by hand to get the savings. Now, the Outsourced folder is included in the SE release by default, as a recognition that memory savings are always necessary. dsa memory savings are handled automatically and in later releases fully transparently. These are normal upgrade processes.

Choosing one over the other is a matter of style. On the safe side, I would choose dsa for not having to configure anything. If adventurous, play with SE customizations.

Having more than a single source is not bad either.

OK, I'll forgive you... again. :)

The point of dsa systems is to NOT have to configure anything. Just a clean install, that gives full menu and map patching with as little as possible effort.

(I played myself with the modelid parameter, but it did not work properly on my go910 (menu-wise), so I drew the conclusion that it is rather pointless and confusing in general. Your mileage may vary)

Latest Map available for mobile's from tomtom would be Version 6 Maps, quite old but they still do the job but again depending on how much development has been done where you live and how much and where you travel.

Have a look at this: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=719884

Also look at the Mike's Garmin Thread & there are also a couple of other good Garmin threads.

Hi dsa

Well the command now returns the value 1 but I'm afraid it has made no difference to either the Loquendo or MP3. Think I'll try a fresh installation of Loquendo just see if that makes any difference.

Ian,

In the mean time I have forced the loquendo parameter to "0" on my go910 and as a result I got a screen warning reading: "WARNING: There are no voices available. You will not hear any spoken instructions." (I do have only computer voices installed)
The mic icon has also disappeared from the main screen.

This tells me that the loquendo parameter controlls the TTS feature.
However, the TomTom Jukebox menu item is still available, hence playing mp3s is unrelated to loquendo, as expectedly.

Try to get the LoquendoTTS folder right (from post #2213 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4166847&postcount=2213)), it could help. Get rid of human voices too - maybe it helps (with TTHome).

Now, given that your new XL device gets a default value of "0" for loquendo, I am going to release a new set of navcores that set it to value "1". It might help others.

I'll keep experimenting. I have reinstalled your Luquendo folder but I'm afraid it made no difference. I will try and take all the recorded voices off as you suggest.

A couple of observations :-

When I start the mp3 player the recorded voice is disabled and can only be retrieved by powering down, also the progress bar on the mp3 player does not advance.

If I select one of computer voices and then select the recorded voice again it is permenantly disabled until the unit is powered down.

Don't know if that is significant.

First of all I`d like to say THANKS SO MUCH for the job U`ve been doing.

I've had a TT Go 710 ver 8410. Everything seems to work fine. I haven't check bluetooth connectivity yet.
What I noticed is that there's no bluetooth and a telephone icon available I had in previous, 8002, ver.
I also noticed, when browsing my TT through TTHome, an info is blinking for a sec. that Bluetooth is on but the icon with disabling option is pale (not active). Any clues?

At least, in the process, you got a restart menu item (useful, ex. when switching maps, available memory drops, but recovers immediately after a restart), and an on-screen keyboard... :)

Read about the mp3 player at http://www.opentom.org/Main_Page, you might end up with a better one than the default!

Hi dsa

Yes I've tried madplayer (the mp3 player) on opentom, here's the interesting thing. When I run madplayer from ttconsole I seen the codec load successfully but I get exactly the same faults as with the tomtom mp3 player. No sound and loss of navigation recorded voices, only cleared by a power down. Not that this helps but it shows I think that there must be something missing in the firmware for mp3 decoding on the new XL's. Strange though as I would have though that the MP3 decoding would have been done in software alone.

I wonder if it could be a memory problem, The XL not having enough free ram to do the mp3 decode ???

Anyway, ttconsole has got me hooked, some reading matter on Unix and Linux required I think (and a new pair of reading glasses, *** that text is small !) A while since I've done any software and maybe you can't teach an old dog new tricks :(.

Thanks again dsa and mo for all your help in getting me this far.

Well, I am not ready to give up :)

I thought of something else: what if we would compare ALL the parameters in /bin/barcellona/ on your XL and my GO910? If we discover differences, I could force ALL parameters to GO's values, maybe it is not a hardware issue...

My barcellona folder is here:

http://www.2shared.com/file/5521296/d0447f24/barcellona.html

You could make yours with TTconsole, commands:

cp -r /bin/barcellona . (it ends with a dot) and
sync

Then connect to PC and the barcellona folder will be in the root of your storage. Zip it (say under name XLbarcellona.zip) and then upload it. This way we could compare the two folder contents.
Who knows...

I've just discovered that an extra patching of PNDNavigator might be necessary.

Can you please read for me the output of (TTconsole) command:

cat /bin/barcellona/codectype

On my GO, codectype is "2". Is yours different?

(And, what about /bin/barcellona/codecmaster, mine is "1")

Hi dsa

This is very good of you. I can see you've got the bit between your teeth now :D

OK, here we go

codectype = 1
codecmaster = 0

It may take me a little longer to upload the barcellona folder but I'll give it a go.

So, the barcellona folder does not just relate to loquendo it seems to contain various information about the configuration of the unit, yes ?. Which codec if loaded for example. I note that the barcellona folder does not normally show when you view the folder through dos. I am correct in assuming that it is a ram based folder in the unit and the command you asked me to execute copies it to FLASH ? or is it just hidden ?

Sorry about all the questions you've got me interested now !

Cheers

I think that it would be good to have the barcellona folder contents from other TomTom ONE devices (not XL) for comparison. So, that's a request for sharing helpful info.

One more question, what is your BootLoaderVersion (mine is 55128)?
(info is in file ttgo.bif (found in root of storage) or on the device screen with many infos, under line "Boot 5.5128").

Hi dsa

Thanks for the updated Navcore, much appreciated. I try it when I've taken the lads to scouts and the house has quietened down (and I can get on the computer !!!)

My Bootloader is the same as yours thats 5.5128.

Will keep you posted

I have always wanted to disclose the menu patching idea, as a useful legacy, just in case the patching "industry" would suddenly go out of business. :)

Here it goes:

TT sets the device configuration in directory /proc/barcelona, which cannot be overwritten.
The main parameter is file /proc/barcelona/modelid which gives full menu capabilities when set to value "24" - for x40s, and value "25" - for x30s.
Another important parameter seemed /proc/barcelona/fmtransmitter, which has to be "1" in order to have the mp3 player enabled.
The trick to overwrite these parameters is to make a directory in a writable area, namely /bin/barcellona, with symlinks to /proc/barcelona, except for the params to be overwritten, modelid and fmtransmitter, which are plain text files, containing the good values.
And the patching procedure: replace with a binary editor a certain string /proc/barcelona with /bin/barcellona (note the same string length, intentionally chosen) in file PNDNavigator... trivial but so effective! This way, PNDNavigator selects its config based on our data, not TT's...

The extra memory savings technique is also "classical": a number of binaries, from directories /bin and /sbin are copied to the main storage and replaced with symlinks to their new location. You can see the code in file /etc/rc (or /init, a symlink to /etc/rc), labeled with comments "###dsa".
Even TT, by moving /bin/ttn to the main storage under the name PNDNavigator has done, finally, the same thing (calling it "small build") in order to save RAM... :)

Specific to GO910: TT has coded improperly the x40 ttsystem part concerning the initial storage mount (boot freezes) so I had replaced it with the good code from the x30 ttsystem. It seems that they have two "independent" branches at TT when it comes to software... :)

Specific to XL: it is under testing for now.

Oh, and where is this whole file system, that cannot be seen in the main storage? In file ttsystem, which is loaded in main memory at boot time. See it by using the Opentom ttsystem tools here: http://www.opentom.org/Ttsystem_images

Hi dsa

Thanks for the explanation of the patching process, I think it will take me some time to digest that, but really appreciate you disclosing this. obviously a lot of time has been spent working all that out.

Now to the revised navcore.... sadly it didn't seem to work. I tried the ttsystem file first and checked that codectype was 2 and codecmaster was 1, they were correct, the mp3 was as before though.
I then loaded the PNDVavigator file still the same result I'm afraid.

I'll double check.

It sticks in my mind that when I try and run madplay under ttconsole I get a message to the effect that a codec is being loaded. Madplay does not play in the same way as the tomtom mp3 player does not. Would this not suggest that the problem is not related to the navcore software but may lay elsewhere ?

I am sorry to hear it.
Except that they have trashed the firmware, based on the fact that Tomtom ONE devices seem to work fine and they are presumbly identical to Tomtom XL, I think they have the same hardware, I hoped to see the XL working too.

If a TT ONE owner cares to publish his/hers barcellona folder, that would help probably to set XL's config to ONE's one, then I still have a small hope...

Try this: make a plain (text) file named usecmdlog.dat (any content, just name it this way) in the root of the storage. Then start device, play with TTS and Jukebox. Then connect to PC and read contents of file cmdlog.txt (in the root storage), you may see some error message there.

Is your ttsserver running? (it handles both LoquendoTTS and VocalizerTTS)

US & Canada files are a bit different from the other files. There is no meta, no dct and they do not have to be patched. I can confirm that the US & Canada Safety Cams do indeed function just as they are downloaded, with no dct file. If you are using a 8.203/203, 8.310 or 8.4xx Navcore, you have to change to x20/30 emulation to set up the alerts on your device, then change back to x40, or not change the emulation and set the alerts using TT Home.

I havent been on here for a while but just read about 10 pages to see you are trying to fix something that has annoyed the pants off me for ages on my ONE XL.
Namely the lack of MP3 (even though like you Ian i dont need it, i just WANT it so it looks cool) and also the problems with Loquendo (which i did get to work but my machine appears so short on RAM it just crashes with each command).

As i said i have read your posts but i am afraid you both lost me a few pages back with your parameters this barcelona that values=0 etc etc.:confused::confused::confused:

I am glad you both know what you are each talking about.

I would like to offer help but dont know if i am of any use.

I do have both a tomtom ONE v2 and a TOMTOM ONE XL if the files on those are any use as a comparison????

My One v2 has loquendo working perfect running 8.410 and bootloader 5.512.
I am loathe to mess with this as its the wifes and she will go mental if i "change it" but i can get anything off it i need, again if thats any help.

If you do manage to solve it i would be another who greatly appreciates the effort.:D

Does anyone have a meta file that would work for my Celeb voices too???

The reason i ask is...

it used to be simple, if you wanted a new voice on your tomtom you just copy 2 or 3 files in to the voices folder, boot up the tomtom and you could choose them.
It doesnt seem to work like that anymore as they dont show up in my list...unless that is just me?

I have also notices that whenever i patch a map with BU's map patcher it shows a fault in the patch meta or dct (i cant remember which) for all these voices on my system so i only get proper tomtom voices and the silent voice i downloaded from tomtom home.

Any ideas?:)

All I could do for now is a new dsa_navcore.8412mplayer.zip:

http://www.2shared.com/file/5543538/ed159107/dsa_navcore8412mplayer.html

which comes with a standalone ARM mplayer.
Install everything in the root of main storage.
Then execute with TTconsole "./mplayer <audio-or-video-filename>" (dot slash is before mplayer)

It loads the audio very slowly, but it should work.
Video+audio works too.
Let me know if it works at all on your XL.

Hi dsa

I do not see any error messsages when I view the usecmdlog.dat file after failed jukebox or TTS, just the original text I put in the file (test).

I loaded the navcore with mplayer (thanks for that) and guess what.....

It worked :), as you say it takes an age to load up but I had Led Zeppelin blasting out !!!

On one occasion I did note that on quitting out of ttconsole the music stopped and then resumed as the unit went back to the navigation screen (normally it just stops). When I went into the jukebox the progress bar was advancing too. I tried to change tracks but it fell over at that point. I should point out that I havn't managed to reproduce this since.

Well its a step forward, once again thanks for all your efforts.

I havn't investigated the vocaliser yet, but I have just noticed that I seem to have lost the computer voices from the voice selection list.

I have got a better version of dsa_navcore.8412mplayer.zip (the old one has been removed from server), here:

http://www.2shared.com/file/5548034/356998c6/dsa_navcore8412mplayer.html

Simply install ALL but weblink.htm over the top of main storage. You should delete termcap, it's no longer needed. Also delete mplayer from root, the new one gets installed in the bin directory, which is in the $PATH env variable. To issue a TTconsole mplayer command you start with "mplayer <audio-or-video-file-name>" (no more ./ and nothing to append)

mplayer is configured (in mplayer.conf) with really-quiet=yes, so there won't be messages, just the long delay...
The video will be much better, because of hardframedrop=yes in mplayer.conf (try it out, with some small mpeg videos).

So, any TT can play, even video... :)

(You can google the mplayer man page to find out how to create playlists, etc)

The XL problem is not solved yet, but extra help has already been offered!

I load this in and have a play.

I'm intruiged by the fact that on the one occasion the jukebox appeared to be playing after I'd run mplayer under ttconsole then quit out. I'd assumed that it was still mplayer running in the background. However thinking about it is it more likely that having tried to run jukebox prior to running mplayer it was jukebox that had started up as a result of running mplayer, does that make sense ??? I'll try and reproduce it.

Thanks again

Hi, this is my first post and mainly it is to thank all of you on this forum for realy good info. I know now about the thanks button, but can not remember from who i downloaded from, etc, etc, but will press that button from now.

Ok got my 710 up and running fine so far with app 8.002 boot 5.5010 and maps v8.10, but when i connect to tthome it says an update is available for my 710, and clicked the more info and it tells me that the update is for v7,xxx
never done the update.
So my question is why showing me a update to an older version?????
Am i missing something, sure I am but after reading most for over 200 posts havent found anyone with same problem.

Thanks for that picto

Is that a Leeds logo I see ? More of a Huddersfield/Sheffield man myself, each to his own though !

Thanks dsa

I load this in and have a play.

I'm intruiged by the fact that on the one occasion the jukebox appeared to be playing after I'd run mplayer under ttconsole then quit out. I'd assumed that it was still mplayer running in the background. However thinking about it is it more likely that having tried to run jukebox prior to running mplayer it was jukebox that had started up as a result of running mplayer, does that make sense ??? I'll try and reproduce it.

Thanks again

Ian

dsa

Sorry to harp on about this, I have verified the above with mplayer.

If I quit out of ttconsole leaving mplayer running when I return to the navigation screen and enter jukebox the sound continues and the progress bar is advancing. However if I stop play it will not restart.

Ian

Oh and thanks for mplayer I'll give it a go with mp4 (encoded with handbrake)

I stand to be corrected but I believe that the only version you can run on symbian phnoes is Version 6. I use it and it is ok. Dont think there is a whole world map either, you can get individual countries and central and western europe etc

Ian

Thanks for the info.
Where did you download 6 version and maps and how to install it?
Thanks for all the answers.

Have a look in the Tomtom V6 section in the GPS thread. There is a wealth of information, Maps and keygens in there. Its probably worth having a good look through before anything else.

Hi all,

I bought an Nokia N96 and would like to install tomton on it.
Anyone now how to install and let it work?
I heard that the latest version is tomtom mobile7, is that the latest version? if yes what/where should I download and how to install?

Thanks a lot for help.

I would'nt even bother with nav 6 on your N96. I too have a N96 and it is a nightmare to get it on and up and running on this phone, easy on N95 but not on N96 plus maps are very old and you have to get a gps reciever, you wont get bt or gpsd to run on N96 so i would use garmin xt 5 as it runs easy and uses internal gps reciever and there are plenty of maps and cracks to get it to work.

A revised dsa_navcore.8412mplayer.zip:

http://www.2shared.com/file/5577186/26922090/dsa_navcore8412mplayer.html

New: includes Text Console, Reboot TomTom, Mplayer, Stop Mplayer menu items.

Mplayer playes randomly all audio/video files found (recursively) in folder "mp3" on both main and removable storage.
There are pauses between songs...
Since there is a race condition between the TT audio streaming processes and mplayer, you'll have to click the Mplayer button again after being knocked down by a TT message. Stopping Mplayer altogether restores TT's audio precedence.
Video files can be played within the Text Console.

TT's Jukebox is preferable, but this Mplayer will work on TT XL...

First impressions: sound plays only through the internal speaker - which shouldn't be a problem for XL users (I could guess from Ian's params that there is no line-out anyway); volume is rather low, but it can be set in file mplayer.conf (main storage), e.g. comment out the volume line (it's a Linux text file, but it can be rewritten under Windows); mplayer is of latest version, with latest sdl, tslib, mad, even a new busybox with find enabled; ttsystem is reconfigured too.

Hi everyone, I am using TT7 on my Touch Diamond and everything is working perfectly right with the help of this forum :) But I've got 2 minor issues

1 - When I am using TT and I receive a call and the call end, TT does'nt doesn't come up again... I'd have to manually open it up again.. which is not ideal while driving.
2 - Where/How can I get a Traffic POI, If there is any. (I believe I've seen it on someone's TT before.

Any response will be gladly appreciated.

New link to dsa_navcore.8412mplayer.zip:

http://www.2shared.com/file/5598476/40925083/dsa_navcore8412mplayer.html

Content: five extra menu items, Mplayer, Stop Mplayer, Text Console, Reboot TomTom and TomTom Tool.

Mplayer and Stop Mplayer launch/stop a backgrounded jukebox that will work especially well for TT XL. Because of the TT audio streaming system, there will be noticeable pauses before songs start.

The new TomTom Tool button reboots the device in an on screen EXCLUSIVE console mode (no TT interference). It WILL make a difference for any application you'd choose to run, e.g. mplayer videos.
Quitting the console starts the normal TT mode.

I had to change something related to mplayer's settings. Now video under TomTom Tool really works. Same for audio under Mplayer.

Hi all again,

It's been awhile since I last posted. The advice here has enable me to try various Navcores and upgrade maps. I do a lot of trial and error stuff. I do all of the T & E on the SDHC disk so I don't lose the TT functioning which works fine off of the original Internal. I have a 720 with 8.204 on the Internal. It works fine. I use a Macintosh computer.

On the SDHC I have 8.412 which I like slightly better. On the TT unit I'm able to set the MapShare level preferences with either Navcore without issue. With the SDHC card (8.412) removed, I'm able to change the MapShare preferences through Home also.

When I install the SDHC card, Home will not allow me to change the preferences through Home. When I attempt an update all I ever get is the GPS update. No MapShare changes.

Every once in awhile I remove the card and try the update and I then able to recognize and download the MapShare updates. BTW, even though I'm using 8.204, Home thinks it is still 8.300. I was told in this forum that this was normal after initially adding 8.204.

Any ideas why my preferences stay locked with the 8.412 on the SDHC? I did put the "Navcore@TomTom.com" folder that came with download in the correct location. Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Hi PSU1,

I too have a go 720. I had the navcore on the int memory and the maps on a sd card, then one day the int memory failed when i was out on the road. when i was back home i was able to format the int memory but this time i left it blank and put the navcore on the sd card with the maps. when a new navcore comes out i just use a new sd card and see if it will work for me, if not i can just take out the new sd card and use my old one without loosing any settings.

as for your map share settings what i have found when you have two navcore installed you may loose things like your map settings, maybe your map share settings too.

I use truck navcore and i know i get problems if i have a navcore on the int memory and the truck one on the sd card. some times it crashes and dose not boot things like that also i would loose the map settings, ie warnings for poi's like speed cameras.

I you too only have one navcore on your go 720 on your memory card the only thing home wont let you do is get the GPS updates. your 720 will still pick up the gps signal still in a short space of time.

hope this helps

No Activation Codes for version 8 Maps....

Check this post below, download Tendriver's tool he's posted up and use that to patch your map. You will also need a patched ttsystem file for your Navcore so you can use the patched map.

http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4349467&postcount=8

There is also a newer version for the map you want to use, you can find that here if you wish to have it: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4197751&postcount=2330

For the map file, download cryptload, and use that software and with the .dlc file, it will automatically download the map for you.

With the installation of the map, Personally I have never used that tool Tendriver has posted up, but It has a help section i have read. It's quite simple really, Use the patch map tool to patch the map to your device, and patch the ttsystem file using the other tool if your Navcore is the original one for your device and your done.

Right Ok, Before people start asking me what map version has what features etc, I've not actually had a chance myself to test a Map cause i've been getting them and posting them etc but a Chart will be posted up shortly as like there has been for every other Map Versions showing which Map has what features and which NC & Device it is suitable for. By my experience and guess is the 830.2305 are the biggies but again I could be wrong, I need to try it out for myself. As soon as I do or someone else does, i'm sure it will be on here, I'm really too tired and sleepy to go out for a drive now if you know what I mean ;)

UK Map will also be up shortly, For you guys too impatient out there you can always try UK out with my W&CE Map but as I said, it will be up soon.

A new Meta.txt with all the updates is coming up shortly aswell.

ENJOY THE MAPS ONCE AGAIN, I've stuck them all in .dlc so enjoy the trouble free downloads!!!!

I have noticed that there are "new" One IQR devices out. Is there a new NC version too ?

The One IQR Edition TomToms come with 8.410 installed on them, so No new Navcore.

Finally, they do the right thing... Now, they should unify their two branches, x30 and x40, and make one NC, capable of LIVE services on all devices that have either built-in GPRS or Bluetooth(+phone). And sell LIVE subscriptions to ALL TT owners.
And, I will take my vacation... :)

I had to change something related to mplayer's settings. Now video under TomTom Tool really works. Same for audio under Mplayer.

Here's the hopefully final link to dsa_navcore.8412mplayer.zip:

Hi dsa

Well I've tried the above and it works a treat. Your efforts are much appreciated.

The audio does seem to work with with tt running, though as you point out tt had to be disabled for video to run at anything near full speed.
I used handbrake to encode a couple of chapters of The Sound of Music (just happened to have that on my hard disc, no really my daughter wanted it on her i-pod !!!)
Is there a playback time limit on mplayer, I've seen a couple of items implying that there might be.

Once agian thanks very much.
