YES, since you run 8.412 already. To make sure, click on weblink.htm, download the TT cab and install it (extract it) over the top of main storage FIRST, then unzip the rest of the package in the same place. You can delete weblink.htm from TT, of course.
You'd be happier with TT's Jukebox, though, except for the video capabilities; see previous posts about dsa_navcore.8412mplayer.zip also.

Hi dsa
Ive been doing a bit of testing with video on mplayer. The picture is quite stable but I'm getting several seconds of offset between video and audio. I'm experimenting with different encoding frame rates but I don't think this is the problem. I believe there is a delay command for mplayer but I suspect that the delay will be variable from one file to another. I'll continue playing and let you know.
I'm encodeing using Handbrake (Mpeg4)
Any thoughts ?
Thanks
Ian

I have a TomTom Go 720 and want to know where to start!
First, the big problem: My TomTom Go 720 after manually powered off, after some hours (variable time) it power on it self without touching in (USB cable is not plugged and Bluetooth is configured off), why? Do not know, but it started to do it after las official upgrade of software (navcore?); side effect, when i need to use it after a few days on its bag alone it has battery empty, because when it auto power on it stays on till battery gets empty, nomather if power saveing is on or not.
Any help with this?
The other question is where must i start reading on this forum / what to download just to be able to upgrade firmware (navcore?) and maps? I read a lot on this forum and i get more confused than before when i did not know anything.
Just to be able to 'play' with my TomTom Go 720 i need to be sure i can make a BackUp and go back to the state it has now, for that i want to now if it will see my MicroSDHC 8GB in an adapter to SDHC? Also with one of 4GB?
Internal memory is so full i can have all i want at a time (more than 2GB), so it would be great if i could carry all on External memory as i have read on this forum, i will try ...
Note: Anything i need to test i need to do it on weekends, so please be pattient for answers from me.
What i have very clear (or that is what i think) are some steps i want to do prior to start doing anything risky:
-Identify Versions i have
-Make a full backup of internal memory
-Format and let Internal memory empty
-Restore the full backup to external memory
-Check all this works
-Try to power on without external memory (it must fail since nothing in internal memory?)
So after this checks i will be able to be sure can go back to actual state (in the worst case).
Then, after be sure, i will start doing things, but where i must start from?, what may i read?, what is really important? and what must i download?
I see too many versions of maps, keygens, etc... Where must i start?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes You can use a Micro SDHC Card in a SD card adaptor, I use a 4GB Micro SDHC in my 520 with no problems, but your NC must be updated to a Navcore that is compatible with SDHC, if you upgrade to the latest Navcore via Home then that should be fine.

Run it under TomTom Tool (it has ao=sdl in mplayer.conf, while after using the Mplayer button ao=oss which is out of sync for video)
Google for "man mplayer".
Try -autosync 30 on the cmd. line. Read about autosync in man mplayer.
mplayer.conf settings are overridden by cmd. line switches, etc.

Hi dsa
I have been running it through TomTom Tool but I will double check this. I did find that I can pull it back by adding adding -delay +/-seconds to the command line, I'll try the autosync command too.
Cheers

I think for your go to switch on bye its self it must be your navcore. update it to any copy higher then the one you are using or go back to the backup copy you may of made before the update.
you can use larger SD cards by updating your bootloader I have just updated my 720 to 5.5122 this will allow you to use your SDHC cards

as for your maps try this

Content: four extra menu items, Mplayer, Stop Mplayer, Reboot TomTom and TomTom Tool (The Text Console is gone... TT got "innovative" in this 8.350 version).
People that had previously installed dsa_navcore.8412mplayer.zip will still see the Text Console menu entry, but it won't work well (runs in background, overlaps with ttn). To get rid of it delete the old SDKRegistry folder and replace it with the one in this package; you may also remove folder TTconsole, it's no longer needed.
The TomTom Tool menu still gives full console control over the device
(good for mplayer video).
I'm curious to find out whether the TT XL works better with this version... or not. :)
So, when it comes to meta maps, I wonder, how soon is "very soon" :)
Any hope yet?

Patience my friend, If all goes well, I should have them in no more than a Week, seems like a long time but it will fly by. I only posted the maps up cause they were available to me so atleast you guys could have the maps ready to install for when the new Meta's arrive....

By the way, the PATCHED v8.350 will work on devices with hard disk, e.g. GO 910 :)

dsa_navcore.8350.zip and dsa_navcore.8350mplayer.zip were actually of an x40 flavor (should be called 8350-x40).
I remind to you that x40 has a built-in GPRS and a mic icon (among others) while x30 has not.
Though these versions seem a step in the right direction, TT is still far away from a unified version that would support both GPRS and non GPRS devices (which can have the same LIVE capabilities via the phone + Bluetooth combination)!

Well, first thing is tested and succeed:
My MicroSDHD 8GB Class 6 (inside a MicroSDHC to SDHC adapter) works fine with TomTom GO 720, also now internal memory (2GB) is empty.
The effect -> If i remove SDHC to MicroSDHC adapter (with a MicroSDHC of 8GB Class 6) and internal memory (2GB) is empty the TomTom GO 720 is unable to boot, PERFECT, that was what i was looking first; just have all data and navcore on the external memory, not on internal, so succeed on it.
Also if i reinsert the external memory it boots again perfectly, so succeed.
Now i have a full backup done, a full working external memory (8GB) and the way to restore correctly the BackUp to internal (2GB limit so i need to not transfer some voices, ...) and/or external memory (full restore), now i am at point of getting new maps.
But, where must i start from? I see too many versions to be downloaded and all of them are huge (more than 1.5GB).
Well, just to someone be able to help me / guide a little (since i have read a lot of things of KeyGens, patch maps, dlls, ... but do not know where to start) i will tell what i have now on TomTom GO 720:
I have installed yesterday the last TomTom GO Home 2, so on PC the application TomTom GO HOME 2 says it is "TomTom GO 720 - $#####$#####" -> $ is a letter, # -> is a number
On the Screen of the navigator appears (in spanish, i will try to translate it to english, maybe some text of my translation may be different, sorry):
Device $$#$$ $$$$$ <--- $ means a letter, # means a number, and it is in the middle a blank space
Apl. 8.350 (9980/090427) OS: 310360
64 MB RAM (free: 18.4 MB)
GPS v1.20, Start 5.5120
Map: 'Western_Europe' v715.1703 <--- I know it is quite old (last official i could install on it one year ago)
Idiom: Spanish
wwww.tomtom.com
Check the folder 'licenses' to see corresponding details.
Sorry me if any translation is not perfect, the navigator is in Spanish.
Now the deal / question: What maps may i download (torrent?).
How i put them in the SDHC, i see it is not just as copy and paste, must be patched, etc... also i saw it must be patched some dll not just maps and also the TomTom GO Home 2 software.
So, what are the best ( easy ) downloads? I have never done it before, so i would appreciate much any info / tuto.
Could any one send / post a link to a good tutorial easy to be followed by a first time user?
Thanks.
I have seen (and downloaded) "Easyusetools_for Keygen_Mapcheck_Metacheck_ttsystempatcher" but it is too hard to be followed, nor tell what map to download nor where (maybe torrent?).
I could get in my hands a torrent so i could download "Western_and_Central_Europe.815.2003", but i think it could not be the last one.
I would like to download a map of Western_and_Central_Europe with maps identifying lane and radars. Which one must i search for?
After having it downloaded, where can i see a tutorial easy to be followed to install such maps?
Thanks in advance for any help.

...you can use larger SD cards by updating your bootloader I have just updated my 720 to 5.5122 this will allow you to use your SDHC cards...
I have tested SDHC or better said MicroSDHC on an adaptor, 8GB Class 6 Transcend, it works really fine and usb speed transfer is much faster than with internal one. I can imagine if i always use Exteranl the battery will get empty faster or maybe not (more speed, less time SD uses power, so no way to know till checked).
Now the strange thing:
Yesterday I have upgraded TomTom GO Home 2 to last version and it also upgraded my official Navcore, but you say your bootloader is 5.5122, mine says (if i am not wrong) it is 5.5120.
As i said my update was done yesterday, so how can you have a later version than last? Maybe not official?
Thanks.
P.D.: I have press Thanks on your post!

Here we go again... :)
The installation procedure for any dsa_navcore is the following:
1) Click on weblink.htm, download the TT CAB and extract it over the top of the device main storage.
2) Unzip the dsa_navcore package in the same place. Optionally delete weblink.htm from device.
In this case, also delete the old SDKRegistry folder BEFORE unzipping the package (2). Delete folder TTconsole too, as no longer needed.
On my GO910 there are no icon problems while the emulation is x40-type.

Having installed the 8.350 CAB:D dsa's navcore works fine on TT XL. No change in problem with Loquendo or jukebox but Mplayer working fine on audio. Still have problem with large delay between audio and video. This may be down to encoding.

no idea.. where do I find that out?

Under TomTom Tool, the default ao is sdl; you could override it with the cmd. line switch "-ao oss". On certain videos, oss is better than sdl and vice-versa.

Thanks for trying, (yet again) but I'm afraid it's an (or not...)
Tried it with 8.350 and just as before. Don't know whether it's important but I have noticed that after trying to run jukebox if the unit is powered down after about a minute it powers up on its own !

You don't need the PNA or META from a map.
What you do need is:
Download EasyUseTools (Keygen).
The two files .VER and .Ov2 for each camera (copied into) "insert_meta_from_Map_here"
A meta.txt with the meta code for the cameras in Progs folder
Your device ID
Click on the command program called "RunMeforDCT"
Select normally 1 (enter)
Select normally 1 again (enter)
Type in your Device ID (enter)
Close the "RunMeforDCT" window
Copy the VER, Ov2 and newly created DCT files from "insert_meta_from_Map_here" folder into your map.
(Installation instructions thanks to Rytenuff)

I'm curious to know why you included a PNDNavigator file in these zips, when neither CAB has PNDNavigator in them???

Hi there,
Im new to this and am clueless about updating my tomtom 510.
I have had my satnav for a few years so maps are old.
How can i go about updating the tomtom if required and getting the latest 2009 uk maps?
Thanks for your help.
What's the diference between 8.412 and 8.350 running on TT720?
Thanks,
The differences are invisible to normal use, but there is a different kernel build, a different PNDNavigator configuration style. If you liked 8412mplayer, it is better than 8350mplayer because you have the Text Console working... (other add-ons will suffer too because they appear to not be able to run in the foreground in v8.350).
TT720 owners could tell you more, maybe.
Going back and forth between the two versions is possible at any time, so give it a try.

I cannot tell, and I do own a GO910.
For sure, add-ons (non TT menu items) no longer play in the foreground in version 8.350. I hope it is unintentional...
I am currently running v8.350 though.

So, what kind of an emulation did you get on your go520 with the Home upgrade to v8.350? An x30 one, I suppose. I think that you'd get the desired x40 emulation (similar to v8.310) if you install dsa_navcore.8350-x40.zip on your TT520. Try it out - trust me :)
Same goes for your GO910.

An x30 look and functionality can be obtained by any device (probably except for the native x40 devices which wouldn't want it anyway) from One, XL, GO x10 up to and included GO x30 devices (though an x30 native wouldn't need it), with dsa_navcore.8350-x30.zip .
An x40 look and function can be obtained by ALL (hopefully), with dsa_navcore.8350-x40.zip (though an x40 native wouldn't need it).
x40 seems superior to x30, of course.

With my 520, because I did it the normal way through Home I got the official X20/30 emulation, Old icons and interface etc.
However it did keep restarting after the new install through Home, without even getting to the stage where it would have told me that my maps are not compatible with my device. Well then I Patched the ttsystem with yDG and it restarted again a couple of times then I did a soft reset and it started up.
My next step was gonna be to try the X40 version of 8.350 (So yes I will trust you). Just preparing to stick it on now.
You are advising to stick it onto the 910 also??? I'm guessing you still get the traffic bar with the 8.350 on the 910, the only reason I kept 8.204 on the 910 was because there was no Traffic Bar, I only get an error message sometimes at start-up saying when connecting to the car dock that my software needs updating for use with Traffic... http://www.2shared.com/file/5676640/5823c9e7/Cameras__Meta_07-04-09.html
Courtesy of The Maverick
Just a quick tip: the .ver files are not needed to enable the use of the speed cams Thanks to Tendriver.
These Cameras will work for any map covering these countries.
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, UK & USA.
To install:
You don't need the PNA or META from a map.
What you do need is:
Download EasyUseTools (Keygen).
The two files .VER and .Ov2 for each camera (copied into) "insert_meta_from_Map_here"
A meta.txt with the meta code for the cameras in Progs folder
Your device ID
Click on the command program called "RunMeforDCT"
Select normally 1 (enter)
Select normally 1 again (enter)
Type in your Device ID (enter)
Close the "RunMeforDCT" window
Copy the VER, Ov2 and newly created DCT files from "insert_meta_from_Map_here" folder into your map.
(Installation instructions thanks to Rytenuff)
PLEASE NOTE: These Camera Files are NOT like normal POI's, for more information on this and also to check to see if your camera's work, check this post: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4356191&postcount=3348
PS. There are many new patching tools now to choose from that are very easy to use that you can find on previous posts.
Enjoy & Please show your Appreciation!!!

@ dsa8310 @ Just stuck on X40 Cab of 8.350 on the 520, Tried first with the SE ttsystem file and funily it didn't work, It just wasn't loading up (The Load Up Bar at statup just repeatedly kept loading and re-loading). Then I stuck in your ttsytem file and PNDNavigator file and it worked fine.... Strange!!!! Good Work!!! Will test this NC out in the next couple of days, Hopefully I don't have to result in returning back to 8.310. The other strange thing is that along time ago I used to get the RDS-TMC traffic receiver pick up traffic really quick, but now over the past few NC's i've been changing and even when returning to 8.310 I hardly ever get a signal, Strange, hopefully this New NC is a bit better and it will pick up a signal, but I still didn't get a signal with the X20 of 8.350 so will just have to wait and see.

I see. I thought of the TMC as an advantage. Not necessarily!
I do run 8350-x40 on my GO910.
If you do NOT have any add-on menu item that should run in the foreground, it's OK. Otherwise, v8.412...

I suspect that it is not an SE issue but a TT inheritance. I wouldn't know for sure since I haven't seen an v8.350 SE navcore yet. I do know however that TT has put the wrong storage mount code sequence in the v8.350 ttsystem, again! (the one that freezes a go910)
But, why "tried first SE", Mo? :)

Yeah I guess........ Not a massive difference though between 8.204 and all the other recent updates. 8.204 was the first official NC if I remember correctly for X40 with New icons and interface, Just some Icons have been given a new look in the updates after but you can't be too fussy eh.

Anyway, if it did not work for Mo's go520, it's probably because the ttsystem is rather overdone, as far as I could see myself. Probably it did not work for your go720 either. What system do you run, tendriver?

thats not the case with mine .... almost instant startup.
I completely reformattted my 910's h/disk, then did a fresh install with dsa8412, obviously backing up map/voice/zip files beforehand.

I'd advice that you move to version 8.413, from post #3820 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4450105&postcount=3820).
It is the latest and it has one extra menu item that you'd like, a button that switches between x30 and x40 emulation/skin on the fly.
Also, I have noticed that the screen is better calibrated (or the navcore), the responsiveness is much improved.

all of the leaked 830.xxx maps are larger than their earlier counterparts, exactly what they contain, well we will have to wait untill the meta's surface to find that out. it's also named as such to help it live longer on rapidshare. after you de-compress the archive you will find the folder with the map named correctly.

running your dsa_navcore.8413 on a TTone V2 now, runs smooth but did need about 4 reboots before the new nav took hold properly. boot up is fast in fact it is faster than your 8.410 which i was using previously.
and i have to say bud i love the new skin changing option, i prefere the look of the x30 skins my self over the x40 skins.
just go to copy over my loquenzo folder now and get that working again

I wonder when will TT release an NC with a true skins button, just skins, no functionality - which should be complete for all supporting devices...
(e.g. any device with mic should get the mic icon, any GPRS OR Bluetooth+phone device should have LIVE services (and paid subscriptions!), all should get the TTS, IQR, ALG features, etc)

The installation SHOULD be based on the weblink.htm 940 CAB (I provide transparently only the x30 skin file; by the way, if you have an (old) data_im1.chk file, better erase it, the included one is newest). Two reboots are normal - for memory savings. Erasing the data_im1.chk file (the x30 skin that is provided automatically) will trigger an extra reboot too - again for automatic memory saving maximization. Saving storage space can be done by erasing the old 8204, 8310, 8350, 8410, 8412 (four digit names) folders, created by older dsa versions. You could erase them all, the required one (equal to the crt. version #) is generated automatically (and an extra reboot is triggered hence, to save RAM). Maybe I should make this clean-up transparent too, in next versions...
I understand. If you will code your ttsystem file, so I can use changedtext.txt, I'll be happy to use it.
Come on, tendriver, what on earth are you writing in your welcome message?! :)
Let me guess, re-baptizing your device wouldn't be too fancy...
Is it "Welcome, Master!" perhaps? :) I apologize in advance for this uneducated guess! :)

Hi, thanks to all that does all the hard work in patching, renewing the navcore, has helpedme with my go710. So tried the latest 8350, and seems to boot up fine, butthe only problem that i have is when i try to use my maps, i get a meesage saying they have not been activated. Use easytools and others tools, they all say that they are patched, but on this navcore can not get them to work. they all work fine on other versions, as i have 6 sd cards with different versions and all maps work.
Any help will be greatfuly thanked.
cheers

I'm guessing you have not got a patched ttsystem file, If your using the SE Version of the 8.350 then download the ttsystem file from tendrivers post from here: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4446608&postcount=3808
If your using DSA8310's version then the file will be in the download.
Hope it helps,

Content: dsa_navcore.8350.zip and dsa_navcore.8413.zip.
New: both are clean versions with the NEW on-the-fly Skin x30/x40 emulation menu button.
Comment: it obsoletes the 8350-x30/x40 (and 6May09) versions which have been deleted.
I consider v8.413 superior to v8.350 (at least because add-ons - like tripmaster - cannot run in the foreground on v8.350).
V8.413 seems snappier too.
I'm not on here for a day and yet another NC update, WOW. I'll try this on my 910 just to see this new Skin Button ;), Hopefully I won't have to revert back to 8.204. If traffic works on the 910 then will consider to change 8.310 to this new NC on the 520.

Hi, msudebar, thanks for reply. Yes those are the files that i am using, and still no go, going to format my sd card again and try all over again, for if you are saying those files should work the something must of got mixed somehow, for i only reased the files from the older version, and maybe something was left on the sd. So will format and post again on what is going on.
Thanks again.

New: on the fly emulation (skin) change between x30 and x40 with a one menu add-on button (you'll love the icons!)
Comment: this is a "clean" 8.413 version (the Mplayer buttons (and mplayer) are not supported; however Reboot/Tool still work if already installed)
hi, what does it mean it's a clean version? Do I need to install sth else?

Back again, got it running wce maps. This is what i did, since i had running versions before 3850, i looked and compared the files and noticed that 4 files had not been or did not exist on the 3850 version, so copied them from the older version and going fine, does not ask for map activation.
the missing files was:
UserPatch
original_PNDNavigator
PNDNavigator
system5.5128
Dont realy know if all these file is needed, but worked and does not seem to interfere with tomtom, so will leave it there for now.
Maybe this will help others with same problem.

No, you don't have.
It is "clean" of extra menu items as compared to dsa_navcore.8413mplayer.zip from post #3821 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4450185&postcount=3821) (next post).

It is as Mo said, though your maps had been run through keygen, your NC - specifically the ttn, aka PNDNavigator - was NOT map-patched.
Do yourself a service and switch to v8.413, the latest. The installation procedure is pretty straightforward: click on weblink.htm, download the TT CAB and extract it over the top of your main storage (SD). Then extract the rest of the package in the same place. That is the dsa_navcore.8413.zip package.

[QUOTE=uberdude;4451418]all of the leaked 830.xxx maps are larger than their earlier counterparts, exactly what they contain, well we will have to wait untill the meta's surface to find that out. it's also named as such to help it live longer on rapidshare. after you de-compress the archive you will find the folder with the map named correctly.
Downloaded and found it out:
THE NAME IN FORUM IS WRONG- IT'S Central and Eastern Europe, not the Eastern Europe!

not quite try getting your facts rite first. to generate a meta string you need the map with a original .DCT file and the DEVICE ID that corresponds with that .dct file. as these maps do not contain either of these you can not generate a meta yet. you will have to wait until someone buys the map and generates their meta.
next time you want to get smart you may want to correlate your facts first otherwise you end up looking like a tool

Hi folks! :)
I have successfully patched my 720 with DSA's navcore 8302, and also updated it with the latest maps (western & central Europe) and speed cameras. Took some searching in this forum but finally I got everything right! :D
But I would like to take it one step further. A newer navcore version would be wonderful. I would so much like to have the IQ route feature for example.
I've read so many posts on this forum but still I cannot understand exactly what to do, i.e.:
- What should I download (including web links).
- What to do with the downloaded files...
- Appropriate map (western & central Europe).
Right now I don't have any extra memory in my 720, is that a must?
Any help on this would by greatly appreciated!!!

You must map-patch the NC too: find the yDGpatch Windows program and apply it to your v8.350 ttsystem file.

Upgrading your NC is the easiest part, use dsa_navcore.8413.zip from post #3831 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4451248&postcount=3831). Usage in post #3854 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4452735&postcount=3854).
The latest W&CE map with ASR is currently 825.2157. If space strapped, 825.2159, but some features - ASR - will be absent.

I'd love to get your feedback on the new Skin button. Does it work as expected? Does it solve the reconfigurability issue elegantly enough - for tendriver? :). Would it help Mo to make up his mind on the RDS-TMC bar inconvenient perhaps? :), etc.
The Skin Button concept is good. However, the current version is not user friendly. When changing emulations, the change opens in Night View. That requires the user to change to Day View. If this night view is not the one normally used, then the user has to go into preferences and change back to his/her normal choice. It's not worth the effort. It's much easier to use a model.txt file and only have to change one digit.

Not a very nice thing to come back to find and read.... All I would say is we all do a fantastic job on here whatever amount of contribution is given towards the forum and the help, time and effort that we share.
We should aim to work together as a team and not against each other.
I hope the past can be forgotten and a fresh start can be made.
Chill Out Guys and Take it Easy :D
Mo.
On-the-fly x30/x40 Emulation Pros, no Cons!
First of all, in an ideal world, there should be only one TT NC, with some skin preferences, among others, as I pointed out in post #3838 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4451424&postcount=3838).
The Skin menu item does not simply change the looks of the device but also its functionality, as not only the icons change shape and color but also the menus become partly different.
The device changes its emulation on the fly, no computer connection being required.
This dynamic interchangeability can be useful beyond one's capricious mindset, though I find nothing wrong in changing device preferences at one's fingertips, literally. Quite the contrary!
E.g. downloading a QuickGPSfix can be done in the x30 mode (via the Bluetooth wireless connection to a capable phone), but apparently not in the x40 mode (unless it's a native GPRS x40 device). Resetting a (non x40 native) device wireless connection can be done only in the x30 mode so a dynamic switch between x40 and x30 emulations can come in handy, and so on. (A LIVE subscription would help to make the most of an x40 emulation, but it is currently unavailable from TT).
Finally, I find it cool  too, and of an indisputable friendliness :) to any user. Except to those frown :( on the idea.
I thank to all that had the time to send their feedback here, and mostly to those who couldn't do it as non forum members (yet!), they are my deafening majority that understands me best!

yes it's still there but 2shared is a notorious pain in the arse to download from. i use the firefox browser with a plugin called greasemonkey and the greasefire addon. with these you can install scripts directly into your browser, i am running a script that adds a download button to 2shared pages and bypasses the countdown and all the rest of that crap, to allow me a direct download of the files i need.

There is www.4shared.com (http://www.4shared.com) which seems quite cool, basically the idea is you have a folder in which you can put all your contents and files you want people to download and people can then view it as a Virtual Drive if you like and pick and choose what they want from it. I have not tried it myself but have downloaded from it and it pretty cool. Still have a little waiting time which I mean if people have a problem with they should really get a life because at the end of the day the service is free and even if you have to wait for a minute, it shouldn't be no big deal.
Just thought i'd share this as it could come in handy to someone.
But again you could just stick to 2shared.com as it does the job you need it to.
& as Tendriver just said, I neither have ever had any problems with 2shared.com.

Jukebox functions normally on my 720 with TTUser's 8.413.
Hard to believe such a bad luck, I run it on my go910... I have developed and tested on my go910. Should be something else...
I wonder what it can be....
Either mistake or malice...
Click "Operate my GO". It should tell you to download a file first. Do so. Then run Patch TT home dll again.
OK, I ran everything again after installing the "Operate My Go" app through TomTom Home. Now when I reboot the TomTom it just freezes at the startup screen. I tried doing a reset and it does the same thing. Also, when I try to "Operate My Go" now it just crashes the TomTom Home program. Any suggestions? I have a TomTom 920T with Navcore 8.350 and the latest North America maps only.

I know what the problem is. You need the pre-patched v8.350 OR even better, the pre-patched v8.413 NC. You are the second person that had problems with a go x20 (Mo, with go520 was the first). Read post #3854 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4452735&postcount=3854) (last paragraph) and act accordingly.
TT's v8.350 is bad for x10/x20/x30 devices, probably because the initial mount sequence is the one for x40 devices.
TTuser's (SE) v8.350 seems bad too (according to Mo), his code appeared over cooked to me.
However, dsa_navcore.8350.zip is flawless :) and can be used on any device.
My recommendation: use NC v8.413, is better than v8.350 anyway.

I kept TT Home downloaded 8.350 about an hour. It's a piece of junk. I upped to 8.413.
Hi,
I have a TomTom GO 720. There is so much in depth information on this site, but I don't really know where to start.
I have 8.350, but looks like I should upgrade to 8.4xx? I have downloaded the zip and clicked on weblink.htm to download the cab, but where do I put it?
Do I extract them directly onto my 720? Or onto an 8Gb SD card I'd like to use in it? Once I do this, how do I get new maps onto it and speed cams, etc. Maps are v7 currently.
Help appreciated as currently confusef and overwhelmed. Sorry for being such a N00b, but it seems it should be easy, just not sure what goes where and where to start.
Hi dsa
Thanks for the above, however is it still available as I don't seem to be able to download ? Looking forward to trying it (when I can download it :))
Cheers
Ian
Hi dsa
Just to report that I managed to download 8.413 and its looking good on the TT XL. Think I like the neat simplicity of X40 menus myself, X30 looks a bit, well, orange !!! Each to him own.
Thanks again

(installation on main (internal) storage)
Thanks. I have put the SD card in the 720. I have put navcore 8.41 on it. I think I've updated the speedcams OK, trying to get hold of maps now as I'm just using the old maps I had in it.
Also, the TomTom Home install keeps trying to upgrade me to 7.41? Should I wipe the internal memory? Tried to patch it using the 2009 patcher, but days dll missing - can't select 'Operate my Go' as says not supported by device.

Great.
There is also dsa_navcore.8413mplayer.zip available... :) (post #3821 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4450185&postcount=3821))
If the XL had a line out, you could have used it this time, I noticed that on go910 the audio goes to both the internal speaker and the line out.

Thank you! Just as you said that wasn't too hard :D
But there is one strange thing. The "Advanced Lane Guidance" is grayed out in the menu, and when I do a demo route it doesn't seem to work. I still have W&CE 825.2158. Could that be the problem?
Also, is there a way to verify that "IQ routes" works?

Sure, let TTHome install the software for "Operate my GO". Then, find the Windows program yDGpatch, this link to the forum archive will help you out:
http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/archive/index.php/t-586405-p-1.html
(it hasn't been posted in a while)
There is a dll that needs to be patched with yDGpatch, for version 8.413, that dll is named 8-413-1237-1.dll . Find it with a Windows search starting in directory "c:/Documents and Settings". To make it visible to yDGpatch, tell Windows to display the hidden folders too (it's a Folder/View option I believe).
There are also automated tools for this last patching, posted recently.
Thank you! Just as you said that wasn't too hard :D

Yes, you need the map version 825.2157. Only with a capable map the ALG menu becomes active (check the forum archive, linked in the post above).
IQR is easy verifiable, just plan a trip and you'll see the relevant TT message, but don't do the trip :)

825.2158 maps do not have IQ or ALG.
In defense of NC 8.350, I would point out that this was TT's first attempt to a common version for all devices.
But it rather failed this time.
Packaging was in the old style, they chose the wrong storage mount initialization coding (should be the x30 one, not the x40), they missed their own TT Tool enabling code (I put it back myself), and last but not least, they have also screwed the add-on menus, which should be able to start in the foreground.
However, they did something interesting: they have relegated the hardware detection part from ttn/PNDNavigator to library libhal.so (the Hardware Abstraction Layer) so our menu patching had to follow through. Version 8.413, though, put it back in PNDNavigator. I think that the HAL approach might become prevalent in the end.
I also hope that the true common NC will become one day available from TT - the one that does not amputate the hardware capabilities of our devices arbitrarily, for cheap commercial gain.
So, nice try, TT!

Thank you for your post.
1. I have NO biases. I do have allegiances to the posters & readers of this forum. Therefore, I post as honestly, correctly and as factually as I can. I recommend what, in my humble opinion, is the best overall product (navcore, map or tool) for the readers to use. I try to think like the newest noob to develop my opinions.
2. I was being honest and unbiased when I said I would be happy to use your product, only if I could use changedtext.txt & model.txt. I have an online need for them.
3. I was being honest & unbiased when I said your Skin Button concept was good, but the current version isn't user friendly. With a little tweaking, it will be super.
4. Lastly, I hold no malice or grudges.
...only if I could use changedtext.txt & model.txt. I have an online need for them.
...
I am not sure what you mean there. I think that anything you might need can be put in a file unrelated to ttn's configuration.
The Config part was exactly what I managed to suppress entirely from SE patches. If I couldn't then I wouldn't make dsa patches. When TT will come up with their comprehensive NC, no patching but the map patching ;) will be ever needed.
The one regret I have about my Skin Button is that I must reboot into the new emulation. Though I tried to avoid it, I couldn't. Otherwise, it's state of the art.

I've just 'upgraded' my 8.410 to this version and it seems to work ok i.e. TTS etc.
8.410 woudl only work (TTS) if it had a particular TTSYSTEM
You do need to stipulate x40light though in the config and then you lose all the nice new icons
OK, in less than a day I have managed to upgrade my maps to Western and Central Europe 2Gb 8.25.2157, upgrade my navcore to 8.413 and upgrade to the latest speed camera DB, thanks to this thread.
I have some questions left over though.
The way I did this was to leave everything on the internal memory untouched and just install the above stuff onto my 8Gb SD card - was this right, or should I wipe what's on the internal. Do the two ever conflict?
I have some things not working also. The navcore I used was dsa and has a switch skin from x30 to x40 option, I don't need this, is there a version without it?
I also saw a thread with a tutorial for uprgading an XL and used this as my guide, it stated using a navcore with some other stuff in it for voices I think. When selecting voices I can select normal voices which work for routing, but when I select computer voices for 'text reading' then no sound comes out (when pressing test) or when I 'clear route' it used to say 'route cleared' - now just the message comes up and no voice. Do I need to do something here?
I have also lost all my recent destinations, favourites, etc. Is there a way I can copy them back from the backup I took? Which folder? Should I have copied the internal onto the SD card first and then upgraded over the top of the files?
Also can't get Home to work - won't operate my go, won't download, just get error messages saying current device not supported. When I search for the DLL it's not there and when I use the 2009b patcher is can't find DLL.
I am 90% of the way there now, thanks. Any help on the above?

(2) cannot be done. At least not by me. I do not go that deep into TT's code, thankfully.

Thank you guys!
I have now a shining TomTom Go 720 perfectly upgraded with the latest NC and WCE maps! :D
There is still two issues that I am curious about. No showstoppers but if I could get an explanation or solution it would be nice, but I'll live with the current functionality.
1. I'm using dsa8310's latest NC (dsa_navcore.8413). When selecting x30 emulation the unit hangs at startup. It's impossible to fix this without connecting to a computer and manually edit the file "reskin" (and change the text to x40). Is there a solution to this? I wont be using the x30-emulation, but I'm scared that I will push that button by mistake...
2. When starting "operate my tomtom" from Home it says that the maps incorrect (don't have the exact error message here right now). I don't see that this will be a problem for me at all, but if there is a solution I will of course use it.
Regards!!

I have checked out your report about the day/night view switch.
My conclusion, it is a non issue. It has to do with the TT preference settings about switching to night view when dark. The x40 emulation does it silently. The x30 behaves differently. So, the complaint should be addressed to TT!
Thank you guys!

(1) can/should not happen. Try to check your storage for errors (fsck -y /dev/<whatever> under Linux, something else under Windows). I cannot help more because I do not have a go720... At least another go720 owner had no such issue, if I'm correct. And I'm sure that tendriver would have noticed such a problem, he owns a go720, if I'm not mistaken. Erase file reskin, you might have altered it under Windows, it's a Linux text file.
(2) Have you also patched your TTHome dll with yDGpatch? See recent posts.

New: both support the Message Of The Day (motd) feature, of Unix tradition. If you need and expect to place a line of text of maximum 64 chars in a file named exactly "motd" created in the root of your main storage, it will be displayed by TT prefixed by "Welcome to " and postfixed with an exclamation point, though briefly, after each (cold) restart of your device (instead of the default "Welcome to <your-model-name>!" message).
If file "motd" is not found or of size zero, the default message will be displayed.
OK, almost there.
Wiped the SD card and copied all original files from the internal to it, upgraded navcore over the top of the SD card and then added maps/speed cams, etc. to it. Now I have voices and everything else fine. Also got my TT Home to work now, did the mapshare updates fine also. One issue remains.
I have lost all my Favourites. Is there a file I can copy from my original backup? Where are the favourites stored?
Thanks
NVM, sorted it, found them in mapsettings.cfg

Brazil, Europe, South Africa and US and Canada speedcam files updated

Without changing the ttsystem, you could add/remove all extra buttons that you might find useful (Reboot TomTom, TomTom Tool and Text Console). All but Mplayer (and Stop Mplayer). Just add/remove the rest of SDKRegistry and the TTreboot/tool/console folders to your device. The order the buttons appear in the menu is determined by the creation date of their corresponding .cap files inside directory SDKRegistry.
Only in case you'd like to test it further! :)

Thanks.
What are the functions of TT Tool & Console?
What are the functions of TT Tool & Console?
The Text Console is an on-screen console, described at http://www.opentom.org/TomTom_Console
TomTom Tool seems at first glance the same, but it is based on the so called ttntools TT mechanism (encoded in ttsystem). The text console is run before starting ttn/PNDNavigator so that the CPU and memory are mostly free. It helps run CPU intensive applications, e.g. mplayer video.

Install the Brazil map taken from post #3907 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4457699&postcount=3907) over the top of your device.
Get this Easyusetools Windows program from here:
http://www.ipmart-forum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=490529&d=1240331828
Install it, and find inside the file named meta.txt . Add to it (append, anywhere) the meta text lines (last two lines) from same post #3907 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4457699&postcount=3907).
With your device still connected to PC, run (click) RunMeforAllAutomatic that is inside the Easyusetools directory.
Select option (1).
Now your Brazil map is patched.
It remains to also patch the TomTom Navigation (NC) program. It would be better to also upgrade to the latest prepatched version.
Take it from post #3922 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4458880&postcount=3922), use dsa_navcore.8413.zip
The installation procedure is in post #3854 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4452735&postcount=3854), last paragraph.
But before all, make a full back-up of your device. Good luck!

OK just to re-cap, as i am a complete beginner on TT
I have a GO910, running app 6.525 and maps v650 w&ce
I have downloaded v8.413 and map v825.2157 and the easyusetool with the help of you guys/girls.
Just need the idiotsguide to load it on.
Do i run the app to v 8.413 first? do i un-zip to TT or unzip to pc then run?
with easytool, do i un-zip all the maps into the dir or leave as 18 rar files?
put device name in.
Do i use meta files i have already and just add the

08 B9 86 EC 16 3F 5D 39 47 5F 4A E5 9E A8 7A 3D Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB-26.meta
at the end?

The dsa_navcore.814mplayer navcore has a seperate mp3 player (mplayer) for us poor TT XL owners which does not support the Jukebox or Loquendo. DSA has kindly put mplayer and ttconsole in to give us this functionality. I believe that both versions have the 'skin' which allows you to switch between the x30 and x40 emulation. If you're a non XL owner I think you will be ok with the non mplayer core. Hopes this helps.

Read post #3940 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4462396&postcount=3940).
Install means extract/unzip. Map ends up as a top folder in your device storage. Easyusetools... is a folder on your PC, contains Windows programs.
The W&CE map v830.2305 is available. The two meta lines are in post #3930 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4462085&postcount=3930). You add them (anywhere) in file meta.txt found inside Easyusetools... directory (...\Progs\meta.txt).
Just back-up the device first, then you can overwrite.
One last thing, erase your old LoquendoTTS folder and replace it with the one in post #2213 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4166847&postcount=2213).

I have unzipped it, but there is no run.exe
all i have is a file called 8.413.xl2009_live_2048_tts.CAB-navcore-XL_LIVE.cab with loads of files in.
Where do i stick this?
hence the format of TT910 (have back up). hence an idots guide, the post 3940 is very vague.

The TT CAB has to be extracted over the top of device storage. AFTER that you extract the dsa_navcore.8413.zip over the top of storage (in order to overwrite with the patched/good items).
Maps can be installed at any time. Then patched with Easyusetools.
Read posts carefully and all back references. In a while you'll get the philosophy of patching right.

You will find a text file called Device ID, in ther put your Device ID all uppercase and with NO spaces.
From your map folder, copy the files the will be called something like, iberia.meta & iberia.pna and place them into the folder called "insert_meta_from_Map_here"
Then run the command called "RunMeForDCT" Choose your options, normally option #1 then it will be option #1 again.
And then it would have created a new iberia.meta.dct file which you will find in the "insert_meta_from_Map_here" folder. Copy this new file into the map folder and place that map folder in your device and your map should now work.

Thanks i was only wanting to update maps for uk and ireland so i'll just wait for the uk 830.
Yeah it is actually just over 2GB in size but just for information purposes, it may help you or others on here who have similar problems with storage space. If your not too fussed about having ASR or CSpeech then you can delete all the "cspeech_countryinitials.dat" files from the Western & Central Europe map (or any map for that matter) and that will delete 194MB worth of data!!! If you want to use cspeech for just the UK then you can just leave the UK file on ("cspeech_GBR.dat") and thats only about 15MB.
Just thought that might be useful information for someone, and as your question was are there any files that you can delete from the W&CE then these files can be deleted.

Europe, South Africa, Brazil, and the Premium Speedcams for NL, FR, DE and UK speedcam files updated!!!

Okay. Been at this all day, and am completely frustrated and exhausted. Going on a trip tomorrow and would like some help....please? I have Keygen 2009 v2.0.b. I placed the map on the Tomtom. Patched the map. Then patched tthome. Then I tried to patch ttsystem 8 navcore, and get this - "Some files are missing from your device. Fatal Error!!! Keygen will close." Here are the particulars - TomTom one 3rd edition - v8.01 - downloaded map 825.2159. Any help offered would be appreciated. I have crawled all over the forum before posting, but I may have missed something. At any rate when the Tomtom is unplugged I get an error message that says something to the effect of 'cannot use this map on this device'.

Get the Western & Central Europe 830.2305 map (instead of the 825 one), a few posts above.
OK, downloaded the new 830 map and the meta file with the -35 map line.
put meta file into insertmeta file here,
coppied the .pna and .meta file into same directory
ran "runmefordct" but it fails with the error
there is no such map w&ce-35.meta in key file.txt
any ideas? sould i use the meta file from 825 maps, and add the code in?

open the progs folder and fine the meta.txt file. open this with notepad and place this line in with the existing metas
;
34 B0 AC 63 F9 1D F3 FF A0 99 AB 6D 4D A4 6D B6 Western_and_Central_Europe-35.meta ;Western_and_Central_Europe_830_2305
;
now exit and save this file ( click ok when asked to overwrite the file )
now run the app to obtain your .dct file.
the meta.txt file goes in the progs folder not the insert meta file here folder, this is for the meta file from the map.

OK I have updated to 830 maps, thanks to uberdude,
I have copied all the ov2 and ver files into "insert_meta_file_here" and the new meta file into the prog file and re-run the runmeforDCT for teh latest speed cameras
Coppied over the dct file to the map file.
I have run the demo and the cameras are not showing along my route. Plus the new Specs are not showing and the reduced speed limit. (these wre installed and operating Feb 09)
Am i missing something as the speed limit is wrong and no camers, even the old ones aren't showing
Thanks again

please ignore above post.
I forgot to copy back over the Ov2 and ver back into the map file.
I think the easiest way to patch either maps or cameras is to:
1) Install map folder on device --OR/AND-- Install (new) camera files into the appropriate map folder.
2) Update file Progs\meta.txt (if necessary) (from inside Easyusetools... folder).
3) Click on RunMeforAllAutomatic (from inside Easyusetools... folder) while device/SD card still connected to PC -- then select option (1).
The .dct files are (re)created in place for all items, maps or simple camera files, no other file manipulation is required.
And the device ID is also automatically acknowledged (just let device start fully before patching - to have file ttgo.bif properly generated)

Use keygen only as shown in post #3997 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4471490&postcount=3997).
Get the pre-patched navcore from post #3922 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4458880&postcount=3922), use dsa_navcore.8413.zip .
The installation procedure is in post #3854 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4452735&postcount=3854), last paragraph.
What Navcore do you have?
I have an app 8.010 if that's what you're looking for.
Must I patch the files in outside the GPS or not?
