What's new in Tripmaster v2.5 ?
The only enhancement of Tripmaster v2.5 is that it works on Tomtom v8.350 navcore.
If you are using Tomtom v8.350 navcore, you must install Tripmaster v2.5 and another program to solve v8.350 problem with plugins .
If you are using another Tomtom navcore version than v8.350 and if you've already installed Tripmaster v2.4a, you can keep it, because Tripmaster v2.5 doesn't bring any new functionality. If you're installing Tripmaster for the first time, go ahead and install v2.5 which evidently includes all Tripmaster's features.
Known problems : this version doesn't work on One V3 where it can't even be launched..

Is there any map which covers Ukraine? (Checked in EE815 and WCE825- just major roads and no cities)

Does any of you know the two chars at the beginning of any x40 or x30 TT device SERIAL number?

Judging from TT's buy a map webpage, http://www.tomtom.com/products/maps/select.php, it is possible to determine which device one has based on these 2 chars.

This makes me believe that entering these 2 chars in the DeviceSerialNumber line of file ttgo.bif will trick TTHome into believing that the high end device is connected and therefore an appropriate emulation for the "operate my go" will be possible.

(For example, my go910 has a serial number that starts with "V7", but it is not good enough...)

The last TTHome full "operate my go" emulation, regardless of the connected device, was v8.310 (if I remember correctly).
Maybe we could "fix" things with just these two chars info.

Anyone?

Do not put your hopes into this idea anyway... now I see that TTHome recreates ttgo.bif from some hidden place.

Does not your device create/re-create the ttgo.bif file?

Does not your device create/re-create the ttgo.bif file?

I hoped in changing ttgo.bif before starting TTHome. But TTHome has the original info recorded somewhere so it recreates ttgo.bif. I could wipe-out TTHome and start anew with an altered ttgo.bif (if it is the initial source for TTHome). But I do not have the two chars in the first place. And I am not 100% sure that this is what matters anyway.

Hey guys!

You seem to do an awesome job here, but I have a serious problem I can't solve, although I tried for hours. I have One XL with w navcore 8.010. I patched the ttsystem file (but also tried downloading a patched version from here which gave me the same result as my own file). I have puchused an Eastern_Europe map, having a Western_Europe map installed as default. Now I need a map of Greece, which I downloaded from a torrent site. It's Greece_815.2081, as its the only one I could find, and all the download links here get deleted. Okay, so I put the meta text into Prog/meta.txt, Greece.pna and Greece-22.meta into insert_... folder and run RunMeforDCT.cmd. Put 1 and 1 and it says ok, new file created. I put the folder named Greece_815.2081 into my main folder. (I suppose its okay, as demonfatals excellent video shows it "unrenamed"). I restart my One XL and I see no Greece in my country list. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for all replies!

Thanks a lot, both of you! I wasn't expecting any reply this fast.

I will try these, although I just wanted to say that I removed the original Eastern Europe map and I got Greece working. Not the best solution but exceptable for me.

Any chance for me to grab a new or not too old version of Eastern Europe?

Hey guys,

Just recently got my refurb TomTom XL-S and after viewing this thread as well as another couple of forums, I have a few questions that maybe you guys might be able to answer if you have a couple of spare minutes

1. As its a refurb, it does not come with the 'latest maps guarentee' and supprise supprise. my maps are out of date. I've seen some maps available for download, but I have no idea how to get them onto my device. Is there a thread with the details that I need?

2. Is there any way of enabling extra functionality on my devise that it was not designed to support? I am thinking the IQ Routes really.

My device is a TomTom One XL 4S00.008. i am running App 8.010 OS 190943 and USA/Canada maps V710.1575

Any help will be muchly appreciated!

Thank you all...

There is not a 830 compatibility chart or EE map at this time. If there were, they would have been posted.

@harut2005:

No, no, get the right Greece map from tendriver's post #4009 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4474214&postcount=4009). That is the one I have on my own go910. And, go through with the dsa_navcore.8413.zip installation as described in post #3998 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4471740&postcount=3998). Needless to say, that is what I run on my go910.

Thank you Thoer but the problem is that I can make TT home to see installed maps but my go910 can't see any map.

Have you patched your 910 navcore?? Open your map folder. If you see just a single folder, then you have a double map folder. Cut the second folder, paste it in your 910 root & delete the now empty one.

I would want to point out, just to eliminate any confusion, that there are two kind of patching procedures:

The first one is a pure map-patching procedure, that is handled so nicely by the older or more recent graphical/command-line tools. Maps and/or speedcams can be patched this way in correlation with the navcore parts of TT - either ttsystem or PNDNavigator and the TTHome application, that need to be patched too.

The second one is a navcore UPGRADE procedure that somehow improperly is called patching too. Such upgraded navcores are those in the dsa_navcore... or SE_navcore... packages. They enable any TT device to run the latest navcore which currently is of version 8.413.
Note that, for convenience, these packages have their navcore parts (ttsystem-ttn/PNDNavigator) pre-map-patched.

Current patching tools handle only the first patching aspects, of course.

The upgraded packages have to be installed as they are. Still, the map folders and TTHome have to be patched with the map-patching tools (but not the navcore parts).

For whom it may concern, I recommend the dsa_navcore... packages, currently dsa_navcore.8413.zip from post #3922. (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4458880&postcount=3922):)

Have you patched your 910 navcore?? Open your map folder. If you see just a single folder, then you have a double map folder. Cut the second folder, paste it in your 910 root & delete the now empty one.

I don't have any map folder,as I see My go910 saves its maps into root directory ( for me in L:\ )

What tendriver means is ensure that your map folder e.g. UKandRoI v xxx.xxxx is not inside another folder also called UkandRoI This is often the case when maps are downloaded from Rapidshare for example.
He does not mean that there is a generic folder named "Map" which all your individual maps are to be put in.

aha, thank you for help...because I was quite sure that it wasn't any MAP folder...
OK now I got what tendriver means, but I checked that everything is fine, my map folder is named Greece 825.2144 and it contains the .meta and .pna files.
after doing the kaygen process with easyusetools the .dct file is copied in the map folder and my tt HOME shows in "show my GO content" the map which means everything is OK...
but when I start my GO910 it can see any map...
and now after hours it can't even open... freezes on start icon...

I restored my go 910 and now It works properly as it was with the old navcore (my ttsystem file is about 4MB) and the old Western & Central Europe map v650.xxxx.
Please anybody tell me step by step what to do? (even with the hard way)
how to update the navcore and install the Greek map???

OK, do not panic. I am a go910 owner and I could help you out.

1) Do a full back-up of your device storage - in case you had not done it already.
2) Format the go910 storage and so get an empty hard disk.
3) Start TomTom Home. It will offer to you a series of upgrades (to your device) that you should accept, one at a time. After the first upgrade, disconnect the device from PC and let it start-up. You will have to do a minimal interactive initial set-up of your device. Then reconnect and continue with the TTHome upgrades.
This way, you will become confident that your device is not compromised at all.
4) When nothing else can be updated via TTHome, proceed to the patching/upgrading phase that will let you have the desired new map and the latest navcore, v8.413.
a) Get the LoquendoTTS folder from post #2213 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4166847&postcount=2213) and extract it over the top of your device (as one folder named LoquendoTTS).
b) Install to your device dsa_navcore.8413.zip, taken from post #3922 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4458880&postcount=3922), as explained in post #3854 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4452735&postcount=3854), last paragraph.
Make an intermediary restart of your device, if you wish, again to see for yourself that all is OK.
c) Install the Greece map, taken from post #4009 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4474214&postcount=4009), over the top of your device (one new big folder that holds all Greece map items).
d) Apply the Easyusetools... Windows program as explained in post #3997 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4471490&postcount=3997). Take Easyusetools from post #3940 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4462396&postcount=3940) (where you'd also see the patching procedure reiterated).

Now, your device will start-up and recognize the new map.

You'd be done by now, unless you would want to patch TTHome too, in order to have the "operate my go" menu item in working state. But this is for another story, that you should read alone in the pages of our forum thread...

Good luck for now.

One last detail. You need also a so called ASR folder (for the voice recognition part). Take it from this TT cabinet file: http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/8.350.go530-go730-go930.CAB-navcore-GO.cab
Only the ASR folder, put it in the root of your device.

ALL items should be installed/extracted with OVERWRITE YES.
That is why the order you do things matters. The patched items should always come last, to override the TT defaults.

Did you format your device first?
There is no dsa_navcore.8413 folder! All content of package dsa_navcore.8413.zip should be extracted over the top of your device.

The order is: first the big TT CAB (taken from weblink.htm) then the content of dsa_navcore.8413.zip, all over the top of your device.

NO, it should work.

If you wish, restore your go910.
Add the ASR folder.
Erase your old LoquendoTTS and put the new one instead.
Then extract cabinet file http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/8.413.xl2009_live_2048_tts.CAB-navcore-XL_LIVE.cab over the top of your device.
Then extract dsa_navcore.8413.zip over the top of your device. The one taken from http://www.2shared.com/file/5726362/816c5477/dsa_navcores8413-motd.html
(there are 59 downloads of it already)

It should restart. ALL go910 do it... :)

1. the name of the map folder should be chanched or not?

2. what exactly I have to do with easyusetools?
make the .dct file only?
because when I try to patch the ttsystem file with easyusetools it says can't find already pached.

No need to change the name of the map folder.

Just create a dct file & put it in the map folder. The ttsystem file is already patched.

I called my Greece map folder Greece_825_2144. It is as good as any other name (it does not matter).
Do now the map patching as described in post #3940 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4462396&postcount=3940) (It will be Greece instead of Brazil). Download the Easyusetools... from there.
Just put the map in the device and click on RunMeforAllAutomatic.

I now have all MAPs on TomTom Go 720 working (not tested yet navigation, only maps are loaded and can scroll and search, trace routes, ... but no on navigate mode, since i can not be at every country).

I mean, i have the following maps (ordered by name) all on the same MicroSDHC 8GB Class 6 with an Adapter to SDHC at the same time:
Australia_815_2086
Brazil_720_1857
Central_and_Eastern_Europe_2GB_815_2003
Eastern_Europe_825_2159
Hong_Kong_720_1820
Malaysia_Singapore_825_2091
Mexico_815_2039
New_Zealand_825_2203
Southern_Africa_720_1862
Turkey_825_2218
USA_and_Canada_825_2159
Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB_825_2158

And also this two (but i do not know what version are theese two):
Canary_Islands
Western_Europe

So only three questions now:

First, How can i know version of that two?
Second, how can i now what are the latests versions?
Third, how can i save the Favorites?

With save Favorites, i mean more than one thing, some i allready know how to do it, but others no:
Make a BackUp <== Copy / BackUp MapSettings.cfg of Map Directory
Restore a BackUp <== Overwrite MapSettings.cfg of Map Directory with a BackUped version
Convert Favorites to POIs <== Using PoiEdit2007
Convert POIs back to Favorites <== ¿? I do not know, but need, i want to be able to edit Favorites on TomTom Go 720
Copy Favorites from one TomTom GO 720 map (Western_Europe) to another (Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB_825_2158) on same device <== ¿? I do not know but need, i want to be able to edit Favorites on TomTom Go 720

With theese i mean the next steps are the ones i want to be able to do and finish:
- Power On TomTom Go 720
- Create Favorites on one map (active one of course)
- Activate another map (different one, but overlaping, for example from Western_Europe to Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB_825_2158 or to an upgrade)
- View Old Favorites (on the other map) as Favorites (on the actual map), not as POIs
- Edit one or more favorites
- etc. etc.

Only with TomTom go 720 i see no way to do this, but with PC, with PoiEdit2007 i could see all my Favorites of each map, but how can i "Save" them back, so they still be seen as Favorites?

All i found is save them as "*.ov2" with PoiEdit2007, but that is POIs, not Favorites; i have a lot of them (more than 1000, so manual entry of Latitude and Longitude is not an option).

Thanks in advance for any help...

P.D.: PoiEdit2007 can open MapSettings.cfg files of each map correctly but it do not let to save on such format, so i need a workarround or such function get implemented.

I mean,
830_2305 corresponds to 825_2157
830_2306 corresponds to 825_2158 or 825_2159? Am I right?

So many posts and helpers to help 1 guy/girl install a map and navcore... WOW. I won't say anything, would just add to the confusion );) hehehehe!!!

Ooh, you've done, excellent!!! Must be a good feeling, was for me when I first patched my first map ;) Also We have a Thanks button on our forum, if you have found dsa8310 & Tendriver's & Rytenuff's posts helpful i would also show them your appreciation via using that button,

Thanks,

Mo.

Yes my,friend you are right. I know that there is thanks button, but when I first time visited this forum,I saw sb's post who was saying not to thank him because he is tired of seeing many thanks under of all of his posts.
that's why I didn't did it...
but if you don't have any problem, I'm glad to thank everyone who gave me this excellent feeling :):):)

Wait a minute, you are not done yet! :)

Now, if you really want to return the favor to all that helped you out, go through all posts you found useful and click on the Thanks button!!
Here people are addicted to thanks, and I myself have a lot to catch-up on number of received thanks, just to enter the 1K hole of fame!! :)
(Do not try to understand it, just do it... :))

Seriously, have you noticed the <x30 Skin> new TT menu item on page 4? Try it out. You will come back to the x40 Skin shortly, it's also my recommendation.

Yes. I tried it it's also very nice skin...
thank you again my friend,I will press all thanks buttons I 'm gonna see lol:p

@harut2005:

Sometimes GO910 does not start immediately after having pushed the start button. Sometimes it doesn't start at all.
In such cases you have to press the reset button - there is a pin hole next to the device's main connector (NOT the small hole on the upper front frame) through which the reset button is accessible with a pin. After reset, a normal start - with the on/off start button becomes possible again.
This is what happened yesterday when you thought that the patching had failed. It will happen again, so be aware of the issue.

The worse that could have happened is to have dead links hidden into a .dlc file.

There is a great convenience to have a set of links packaged into a .dlc, albeit temporarily. However, if originally those links were posted in clear, you would expect them become deleted after a while.

A safer, but time consuming procedure, would be to download the initial, unprotected parts, then upload them back, under some cryptic names, and finally putting the new links into a .dlc file. You'd also need a good uploading transfer rate, so this procedure is not for normal users.

Not to mention that publishing so late this solid .dlc link will be disastrous for those seeking "priority" in their postings :)

Use keygen only as shown in post #3997 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4471490&postcount=3997).

Get the pre-patched navcore from post #3922 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4458880&postcount=3922), use dsa_navcore.8413.zip .
The installation procedure is in post #3854 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4452735&postcount=3854), last paragraph.

All of this happened before I got to try the fix above. I tried to put a new map on the device, and it failed to copy due to insufficient memory. The device seems to be missing about 400MBs, ergo the new map won't fit now. (nor will my original one for that matter). I explored the device via pc, and can not seem to find where all the memory is being zapped. I tried to reset, tried to restore, and have had no luck. Thanks to dsa8310 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/member.php?u=973199) for the original reply. Any ideas?

There is no such thing as a fried TT device :)

Just find an appropriate map, of latest 830 version for your country (country maps are smaller; regional "2GB" maps are smaller).

In principle, you could follow "a la lettre" the recipe in my posts #4038 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4476986&postcount=4038) and #4039. (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4477025&postcount=4039) Replace all Greece references with this new map of yours.

I understood what you meant from the first post - geez some people give out harsh treatment sometimes!.. (which no doubt I will now experience).

Anyway I have the same issue - I have been looking for a decent map of Romania for ages, and everything I have downloaded and tried has had pretty only major roads after Hungary, unlike the old 608 version which has lots (albeit mostly un-named an out of date) roads. If anyone does know of a detailed version after 608 I'd like to know about it (no doubt along with algram)

As an aside, there is detailed road data for Romania (I was in a car there that another sat nave (dunno what type)) but perhaps Tomtom haven't bought that data. Here's hoping they do.

P.S. I fully understand that there are givers and takers in these pages and I'm a taker (so far) so don't mistake my judgment of the comments as a mark of ungratefulness it's not!

Plan C?!

I'd suggest to people upgrading/updating/patching for the first time to use a pre-patched package in conjunction with the unavoidable Easyusetools kind of map folder patching.
The same goes for veterans too! :)

I'd start with the latest navcore somewhere in post #4039 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4477025&postcount=4039), beginning with paragraph (4). In most cases there is no need to start from scratch.

And I'd use the graphic tools only for patching TTHome, see post #3900 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4455952&postcount=3900).
Call me old fashioned, but I'm still using yDGpatch for this purpose.
By the way, I have just reloaded the yDGpatch version I use here:

geez some people give out harsh treatment sometimes!.. (which no doubt I will now experience).
...

NO, it's worse getting ignored... the silence treatment, if you know what I mean :)
The kind of deafening silence by number of not-yet-thanked downloads of one's posts, for example... I bet I'll get instant gratification for this comment too!

Could any of our multi-users, registered with other forums too, help us out?

Rytenuff has banged on about this issue for ages and unfortunately for the guys that give up the links it never changes (its the reason for a while we put the links in text file attachments so only members could download. In fact at one point Rytenuff made members PM him for a password too to prove the point but got slated a bit for it).

I am doing quite well by comparison on this post 4110 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4482012&postcount=4110)

Might as well throw in my shot on the Thanx discussion. I don't post to receive Thanx, nor to I solicit them. If you ask for them, are they really sincere Thanx? It is for the users to determine if a post is deserving or not. I not offended, if I don't receive any and am appreciative if I do.
I'm off my soapbox, now.

NEW SPEED CAMERA'S & META.TXT FILE - 19-05-09

http://www.2shared.com/file/5859934/3fafe42/Cameras__Meta_19-05-09.html

Courtesy of The Maverick

Just a quick tip: the .ver files are not needed to enable the use of the speed cams Thanks to Tendriver.

These Cameras will work for any map covering these countries.
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, UK & USA.

To install:
You don't need the PNA or META from a map.
What you do need is:
Download EasyUseTools (Keygen).
The two files .VER and .Ov2 for each camera (copied into) "insert_meta_from_Map_here"
A meta.txt with the meta code for the cameras in Progs folder
Your device ID
Click on the command program called "RunMeforDCT"
Select normally 1 (enter)
Select normally 1 again (enter)
Type in your Device ID (enter)
Close the "RunMeforDCT" window
Copy the VER, Ov2 and newly created DCT files from "insert_meta_from_Map_here" folder into your map.

(Installation instructions thanks to Rytenuff)

PLEASE NOTE: These Camera Files are NOT like normal POI's, for more information on this and also to check to see if your camera's work, check this post: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4356191&postcount=3348

PS. There are many new patching tools now to choose from that are very easy to use that you can find on previous posts.

Enjoy & Please show your Appreciation!!!

YES, above all, do not tell Rytenuff I posted it. He might think that I changed camps :)

It's not the lack of forum etiquette, the lack of thanks, in general, but their unbalanced and partisan distribution that is troublesome. I could also argue that some posts get far too many thanks, relatively.

Anyway, it's a free forum.

Moving dangerously close to the Rytenuff side :), I wonder, wouldn't be possible to have (if so chosen) post links packaged in a similar way a, say, Thanks button is?

I mean a Thanks button "knows" the identity of the user - you cannot thank to own post, sadly :), or twice, even sadder! :).

Let us make the new "Link button" with two functions:
1) The function of a Thanks button - any member that clicks on the Link button also records its thanks to the post (if not already recorded).
2) The regular link function, at (each) click the real link is opened in a new tab/windows too.

And, as any thanks, they can be later on removed if link found useless. Let's see who'd care to... remove thanks!
Not to mention that the link would be (really?) invisible to non members - I hate this part, since "my" overwhelming majority of users seems unregistered...

Would it really be possible/desirable? What do you think of it?

Why not? Warum nicht? Pourquoi pas?

It's optional, you'd use the Link button only if you choose so. It's like a Thanks button...
You could also post in clear. But do not repost a recent hidden Link in clear, it should be considered off etiquette, I think.

Why not? It would be in BAD TASTE!! Our purpose here isn't to RACK UP THANKS. Your idea would only generate artificial Thanx. It would serve no purpose, except to be self gratifying to the poster.

on other forums i frequent / moderate you can code a box to contain hidden content that only becomes visable to the user once they have pressed the thanks button. it would be exceptionally easy to impliment here if the admins chose to do so

Between no thanks at all for some and "gang-thanks" to others, I'd choose the fairness of the Link button. As I pointed out, racked up thanks, that would be deemed unwarranted, can be removed as any thanks. If removing is as difficult as giving thanks, for some, there is a good chance that deserved ones will stay...

So, let the "bad" taste to me, and the automatic thanks too.
You can keep the "natural" thanks for yourself, of course, post nobly, in clear. Seriously!

Contrary to appearances, I am more liberal here. I would use the Link Box scarcely, only when wanting to "measure" the real weight of a link. In a perfect world, that would be not necessary, as I get from tendriver's opinion. And yours too.

I would always use the Link Box on April 1st, of course!! :)

dsa8310
05-20-2009, 03:37
I think that the hidden Link exists already (though not sure, I have never used it).
What I suggest, is to derive a Link Box/Button from it, that would automatically insert the thanks to the post. That would be no freedom infringement. Because if link found useless, the thanks can be removed, as already implemented.
Therefore, nobody would have any excuse for not thanking a post to. Only deliberately...

Let us think it over, sleep on it, then judge it without passion or ire.

I wrote to the Forum Administrator about the Link Button. I am awaiting response.

I have refined the initial idea of creating an OPTIONAL Link Button that would combine a hidden external link to a thanks button in one click, with the removal of thanks possible but NOT immediate, unless requested through moderator. The regular thanks button will coexist, but it could not override the Link Button count-down.
I hope this design alleviates any concerns and, if not technically challenging, will bring more fairness to the forum.

I would consider off forum etiquette its use for reposts of infos from forums-in-law.
Reposting in clear of same info would be even worse and subject to censorship.

cspeech is speech recognition - there are a lot of files in some maps for this which take up space a fair amount of space (300mb for America). If (like me) you have a device that cannot do this you can just delete those files (so far I have not had a problem presumably because it never looks for them). I dunno if that is true for a device that can do it, in which case it may cause trouble if they are not present.

I think the different subversions (after the dot) with similar numbers (2306 2307 for example) are usually the same map but built to suit different devices - so there will be a small say 1gb version with no ALG (lane guidance) and ASR (speech recognition i.e. the cspeech files) and reduced POIs etc and then a medium 2gb version with and a full version with everything.

I think that when there are actual map data updates the subversion increases significantly, or the version itself (830 etc) increases.

I am welcoming corrections here, this is what I have figured out based on observation so it may no be 100% accurate..

I have also seen that some maps have two sized versions with exactly the same version code so perhaps I am way off..

I think what Cuppa is trying to say is only true. This is a TomTom related Thread and not a discussion thread. If people want to talk about Thanks post the you need to go to http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=36 <---- This Thread, it is a more suitable place to create and have a discussion and try and improve the forum if thats what your trying to do rather than fill up a thread with posts that has got nothing to do with the Thanks Button apart from it can be used on this thread like any other threads on this forum.

Stick to the subject, Its fine having a post if you have not got many thanks for stuff that you post and to express your feelings in that sense but a discussion can be had somewhere else, it's more appropriate in my opinion.

Thanks and no harsh feeling, I just wanna keep this thread on the track and keep conflictions away from this excellent team we have on this thread as this can often happen by discussions.

Mo :)

Not quite "on-topic", Mo! :)
The subject was the "Link Button" not the well known "Thanks Button". It's a subtle difference! By the way, what do you think of it?

Whether a "Link Button" subject is appropriate here, my answer is "YES", by all means. It's a forum, isn't it, and anybody is entitled to an opinion over ways to improve forum's fairness, attendance or etiquette, that such a button is all about.

I took a glance at your alternate thread suggestion, it's way off, in the woods! Not even my TT could guide me back from there! :)

One last thought about thanking to a post that combats somebody else's opinion. Don't, please! You might end-up of*****ng both parties...
(the censored?! word stands for "to cause difficulty, discomfort", and I do not see why it was automatically stricken off...)

I normally use 8413 and yes that works fine with ALG and IQ.

But i have always preferred the v8010 style icons so when i saw my friends go520 with 8.350 on (old style icons and ALG and IQ) i thought i would try it in my one XL.

But it doesnt work in my one XL like it does on the GO520:confused::confused:

I just wondered if anyone knew a reason why this would be the case.
Presumably its because 8.350 is the official navcore for the GO520 so thats why it works on there?

I think the (forum) "Link Button" would be especially useful in cases like yours!!

I do appreciate the idea of the SE basicpack built by an expert that knows exactly which parts might be missing from TT's various cabinets. This kind of packaging is helpful to people upgrading from scratch (a really old NC).
It's tempting to have one's own distribution, but I did not want to go that far, so I rely on TT's cabs + recipe (sometimes extra prescriptions are required, but never more than the (new) LoquendoTTS and ASR folders).

Now that you have your base built, you could try once more dsa_navcore.8413.zip taken from the "famous" post #3922 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4458880&postcount=3922). Or not! :)
(I'd erase the eventual file data_im1.chk from device first -- that's a packaging imperfection I intend to fix in the future)

I've recently upgraded from 8.410 Navcore running a 825 map on my TT ONE V3 to 8.413 with a 830 map.

Everything works ok (TTS, Lane Guidance etc) but my overall perception is that it is slower i.e. when a route is being followed sometimes it sticks for a couple of seconds and doesn't display the actual path staright away. This didn't occur under 8.410. Probably need to do some more tweaking to free up more memory. At the moment I am using the same setting as with 8.410 i.e. only x40light.

Thing is with upgrading both the Navcore and the map I can't pinpoint what is at fault.

whats the best way of testing this:

(1) Downlaoding from your previous post
(2) Extract the dsa_navcore.8413 and copy it over the existing files on the device

do I then

(1) erase everything in the config folder (tried this and it tells me my TTS voices are not compatible for this device) or
(2) Make changes to the current setting i.e. x40light in the config folder

You know, TT patching is an "overwrite, yes to all" business, where order matters.

So, a default SE would be an SE without Config but with Outsourced.

A dsa has no configs or outsources. Just get it from post #4197 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4487380&postcount=4197) and start the overwrite process: first, click on weblink.htm, download the TT CAB and extract it over the top of your device main storage. Then extract the dsa_navcore.8413.zip over the top of your device (you do not care of file weblink.htm, you may as well leave it on device, it's so small). And you are done, let device start-up (it will automatically restart by its own in the process, that is normal, and it will happen only once, the first time a new version is installed).

I know that you have the good LoquendoTTS folder from post #2213 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4166847&postcount=2213) , use it instead of yours, do it first thing!

Still having a few issues. If I follow your instructions as above (but also delete the config and outsourced directories) the device boots fine BUT you cannot select any TTS voice (they are not listed).

I then tried wiping the device, copying the dsa 8413 files as above and adding back the map, zip folders an dthis time it won't boot properly at all - locks at a tomtom logo screen or at the map initial load up screen with text in the top right hand corner.

Thanks for your feedback. Yours and kenta2's might have helped identifying an overlooked issue with TT's cabinets.

The fact that it booted without Config tells me that the default x40 emulation works on device. Even without memory savings (no Outsourced). But probably that is why the computer voices are lost (not enough memory for them).

I know why wiping out the device has caused a problem. The original TT v8.413 cabinet file is trimmed down, some files are missing. The good thing about v8.413 is its newer core navigational program (PNDNavigator, ttsystem) only.

As I pointed out earlier, the patching process is based on overwriting (not starting from scratch). This way, all required items stack-up on device and only the updated ones get changed.

The solution, for hopefully all TT (ONE!) devices is the following:

If you want the x40/x30 full emulation, and you start from scratch,

Install/Extract first a full-fledged original TT cabinet file (over the top of your device); the most recent is:

http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/8.350-go940.CAB-navcore-GO.cab

Then proceed to the usual dsa_navcore.8413.zip installation procedure (get the new cab from weblink.htm, extract it and then extract the rest of the dsa package over the top).

I hope that this will help out kenta2 too.

I tried the following

(1) Started with original 'working but sluggish' 8.413 full system

(2) Copied over 8.350-go940 cab as per your above post

(3) Copied over 8.413.xl2009_live files

(4) Copied over dsa_navcore.8413

No TTS available

(5) Deleted config folder then outsourced folder (just in case it made any difference)

Still no TTS available

Formatted card and restored back to original 8.413.

TTS available

By the way for info the ONLY way that TTS can work is to have the x40light option (try it with x40 option and TTS does not work). the down side of x40light is that you lose a lot of menu option albeit ones rarely used.

if you come up with any potential solutions let me know I will happily be a guinae pig

Recipe for installing the latest dsa navcore, from scratch or from a really old NC version:

1) Get the newest LoquendoTTS folder from post #2213 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4166847&postcount=2213). Install it (on top of device storage) INSTEAD of the eventual existing one.
Later on, using TTHome EXCLUSIVELY, you will be able to remove unwanted computer voices.
Almost all computer voices are in post #537 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=3903078&postcount=537), the respective cabs should be extracted INSIDE the LoquendoTTS top-level folder.
If TTHome lets you add computer voices, then use TTHome instead.

2) Install/extract the latest full-fledged TT original cabinet file, v8.350, on top of your device storage, namely:

http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/8.350-go940.CAB-navcore-GO.cab

3) Proceed with regular dsa_navcore.8413.zip installation: take package from post #4197 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4487380&postcount=4197), click on weblink.htm, get the cab and extract it over the top of device; then extract the rest of the dsa package over the top of device.

That is all.

Note that by default I target the top-level x40/x30 emulation.
However, if you think that an x40light version would be helpful for computer voices on ONE devices, use this dedicated dsa_navcore.8413-x40light.zip:

http://www.2shared.com/file/5896763/77e44ff9/dsa_navcore8413-x40light.html

I have my doubts over this version, it did not start on my go910...

Getting warmer DSA. Now you get the TTS and Vocalizer voice options from the list but when you test them they do not play any sound.

This is a similar scenario to my original configuration and the only way around it is the x40light option

Speaking of a guinea pig, there is a good chance that your ONE supports my x40light version since the SE x40light version does not start-up on my go910 either. So not booting on go910 is a good sign...

Now, I sort of hope that this dsa_navcore.8413-x40light.zip could work on XL devices too. I am thinking here of Ian's XL device!

I would also think of saving extra memory by removing all non-computer voices, and keeping either LoquendoTTS or VocalizerTTS, but NOT both.
If this is indeed a way of saving memory, then I would test again the NON x40light dsa version, it might work(?!)

Let me re-phrase it. I do not like the idea of a ttsystem that is not supported by my own device (go910). So, in principle, I would not support an x40light/2/3 version. I would be happier to see the default x40/x30 run on all devices, even on those somehow impaired by lack of resources (memory).
That is why I'm suggesting that memory could be saved at RUNTIME by making available only one kind of (computer) voices, but not both. I'd go with LoquendoTTS. I do not know for sure how PNDNavigator manages the memory, so this is my best guess.
I hope you manage to run the revised dsa_navcore.8413.zip. But the 8413-x40light version is OK too with me.

Someone knows what the difference is between the following maps:
- Western and Central Europe
- Western and Central Europe 2GB

I have just downloaded the 2GB version from tomtom.com to my 730 (internal memory).

Edit: Forgot to mention that the map version on both of the above are 830.2305...

The 2GB is smaller (less pois, etc) than the other one. The 2GB designation means it is made for a device with 2GB internal memory. The other version is over 2GB and won't fit in your 730, unless you use a SD card.

I do not have a first hand experience with these ONE devices that seem so popular lately, but there is a good recipe to follow for any TT device in post #4213 (http://67.228.206.50/vbb/showpost.php?p=4492143&postcount=4213).

Here comes the experimental part for ONE devices.
From recent feedback, there are two customized NCs that can be tried out, beside the one shown at pct. (3).
These are the packages from post #4215 (http://67.228.206.50/vbb/showpost.php?p=4492306&postcount=4215) and post #4217 (http://67.228.206.50/vbb/showpost.php?p=4492485&postcount=4217). Try them out, in this order. It's only the ttsystem file that differs.
I hope that the good one is in post #4215 (or even #4213).

Link to new x20/x30/x40 dsa_navcore.8413.zip:

http://www.2shared.com/file/5906504/7a121866/dsa_navcore8413.html

New: the Skin Button has become a tristate button, with one new x20 skin added, blue; x30 was orange, x40 black. Skin changes in a round-robin mode.

Odd: the x20 "next page" icon is not shaped as an right pointing sign.

Recommended: the x40 skin, as richer in functionality.

This version obsoletes the one from post #4215 (http://67.228.206.50/vbb/showpost.php?p=4492306&postcount=4215).

Note for ONE owners: both this package and the one in post #4215 may support better the (LoquendoTTS) computer voices. I'd recommend installing only one kind of TTS, either LoquendoTTS or VocalizerTTS, but NOT both (though I cannot be sure for lack of first hand experience with these devices). It may be that the x40light kind of package from post #4217 (http://67.228.206.50/vbb/showpost.php?p=4492485&postcount=4217) is still necessary, pending more feedback.

I presume it's smaller detail than 2305 but larger than 2306.

I wonder if they got those figures without the cspeech files in the folder?

If so i have the smaller map but i have tried to find a bigger one but all the links seem to be between 1.7gb to 2gb :confused:
