Hi!

My gaffer was pleased with the update to v8.10 and johnnyboy147's posted navcore 8.204.9718 on his TT one v2 but having got back on here after a few months break I've just discovered there's new v8.30.2305/2306 UK/ROI maps out for this year!

Will these give me the IQ/ALG features as was on the v8.10 Maps and can someone post a link to a working patched 8.413 Navcore & Maps for me please - All the links listed seem to be deleted or on places inaccessible without a fairly hefty fee (one of 'em in German suggests 100 euros for login details which is more than the whole Tom-Tom cost!!!)

Many Thanks,

Chris Williams

Is there anywhere else to d/l the 830 maps from apart from the relink.us sites posted, my AV software throws a fit on those links which it didn't on the 2shared links previously.

With UK&ROI 830.2305 You will still have IQR & ALG.

Hi.

I successfully loaded my go 910 with:
Prg. 8.410 (1218/090213)
Western_Europe_1GB v830.2306

But the IQR and ALG features are not available.
Any suggestions to what could be the problem?

Many thanks.

My advice from a go910 owner to another: switch to NC v8.351, it's newer.

v830.2305 works perfectly on my go910. Thanks.

First many thanks for your advice dsa8310.
But how is that? Navcore v8.351 is newer than 8.410? Or more stable?

Hi
Last night my TomTom One v4 with NC 8.410 and United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland 830_2305 map starten playing up with the loss of sound, When i rturned it off it crashed and i had to do a reset then tun it on again and it worked fine for about 5 mins but keeps loosing all sound/speech and i have to repeat above.
Is this a normal problem with this NC or is my TomTom on its way out for a newish system.
If it is the NC does anybody recommend a newer NC with less bugs for the One v4 1gb internal memory.

Thanks

I don't have a first hand experience with ONEs, but I heard that a "light" version of the NC would be better than the full x40 emulation. Try dsa-win.zip and select L34, it's the most likely light version to work. Use latest NC v8.351.

I have tested 8.410, 8.411, 8.412, 8.413 & 8.351. I found 8.413 to be the best of the 5.

as long as you make a backup before you start you will be fine. i did a v3 1gb a few days ago with the uk and roi 830.2305 map etc.

Sorry if im bugging ye uberdude but i was wondering which navcore suited the v3 1gb best with the v830.2305 map. I have a copy navcore8.410 x40light saved, but was just a bit concerned with changing my mates bootloader from 5.5022 to 5.5012 which ive got on mine. Or would it not make any difference.?

Also the way you added the map and navcore did you just backup the original ,then erase all on the internal before loading new nav and map?

thanks for any help:)

X20 & X30 Users - It might be worth trying out 8.332 (Work) Navcore Official X40 Skin for us X20 & X30 Users. I've been testing it out on my 520 and it seems great, Not tried it on the 910 yet so don't know how it will run on the older devices but its a good recommendation otherwise, I previously had 8.351 and I might stick with this 8.332 for a bit longer.

I have just tried it on my go910.

First thing first, I liked that I could patch it with dsa-win.zip! :)

It seemed of on older generation though, there is no "Zoom" button in the Copyright screen. There is undoubtedly the TT Work menu item - I daren't activate yet...

However, indeed all the skins, x20/x30/x40, look the same - x40 emulation style - and that is a huge progress... for TT! They might put me out of business sooner than later... :)
(Well, not so fast, it lacks memory savings, wrong ttntool coding, no CF support, no x40 looks on x10 devices)

I have also noticed that the original cab works on go910 and even looks go910 style provided that file data_im1.chk (taken from 8.332.gox20.CAB-navcore-GO-WORK.cab) is on device. The boot sequence is also right, x30 like, it supports all devices, including go910 with HDD.

In conclusion I will stick to my v8.351, it offers a variety in skins at least.
Actually, my heart is balancing between v8.351 and v8.413: TT says that v8.351 has some plus for the Australian maps, the right arrow looks right in x20 emulation (though third party apps cannot run in the foreground), while v8.413 lets third party applications run in the foreground (though it has the wrong x20 arrow).

Also, no "motd", no extra menu items and no light emulation support. :)

I've been running 8.412 on my 910 (8.25 maps) for many weeks without major problems. After reading the positive comments about 8.413, is it worth it to upgrade?

The links that I've found to the 8.413 navcore are dead. Does anyone know of a valid link?

My apologies if this is not the right place to post this.
I've been experimenting with making icons for use on the tomtom. I do not seem to be able to produce icons with the same colour and image resolution as the original tomtom icons. If I capture a tomtom screen, edit the appropriate icon and then use this for example with dsa's excellent patch program the icons appear degraded. If I didn't know better I would say that tomtom deliberatly degrade the colour and image resolution. Anyone tried this before, if so would welcome your input. I limit the icons to 80 by 50 pixels and am using full 24bit colour.
Thanks
Ian

Not much experience on this to be quite honest but something that is worth trying is if your not already, same the image(s) as a .bmp (Bitmap) and try sizes 80*50 & 80*80. Just a couple of suggestions but can't guarantee if they will work. Also setting it at the highest rate that is avaialable on whatever software your using like you said "24bit colour" could also affect the quality as TomTom screens may not be 24bit.

I tried the first map and couldn't generate a .dct file. The map is 830_2305 but the key is 830_2306. Since the keys for 2305 and 2306 are the same, is there an error here?

I've been running 8.412 on my 910 (8.25 maps) for many weeks without major problems. After reading the positive comments about 8.413, is it worth it to upgrade?

The links that I've found to the 8.413 navcore are dead. Does anyone know of a valid link?

Don't you know that nowadays we make our NCs, we do not need to look for valid links anymore? :)

You download the desired original TT cabinet file - and these are always up, then you patch it with dsa-win.zip from post #4494 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4543776&postcount=4494).

In your case, you download from TT's website http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/8.413.xl2009_live_2048_tts.CAB-navcore-XL_LIVE.cab, then you run dsa.exe (under Windows) and make yourself dsa_navcore.8413.zip (or its lite version, e.g. dsa_navcore.8413-L34.zip, for XL/One(?) devices). On device installation is straightforward, extract firstly the TT CAB, then extract the newly generated dsa package over the top of your device main storage.

P.S. If the TT CAB is not posted, then you can google for it and find it in another forum.

Guys,
Using DSA guide I successfully built 8.351 using 8.351-go940.CAB-navcore-GO.cab and now using it on my tt720 with no problem. I tried installing the same on my friend tt910 with internal hard drive but it freezes and does not boot. Anything specific I should be going? Not sure what information you might need to help but please do let me know if any. Please note that if I delete everything from tt910 and let tt home offer the aplplication, it stops at 7.903.

Mathias,

Try to patch it again and when you open dsa's patcher use x40 option. I use this nc 8.351 patched with dsa's patcher in my go910 and I have no problems.

Mathias,

Do not forget to extract firstly the original TT CAB over the top of device and only afterward the newly generated dsa_navcore.8351.zip package.

Do also fetch the new/good LoquendoTTS folder from post #2213 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4166847&postcount=2213) and install it instead the eventual existing one.

Needless to say, I run dsa_navcore.8351.zip on my own go910...

I don't know, maybe I should add a check box next to the patch button, which if selected, it would also install all on device/SD, if detected?
It could read "Install" and also display beneath the device path (editable)?

NEW SPEED CAMERA'S & META.TXT FILE - 12-06-09

http://www.2shared.com/file/6272575/24391f2e/Cameras__Meta_12-06-09.html

Courtesy of The Maverick

Just a quick tip: the .ver files are not needed to enable the use of the speed cams Thanks to Tendriver.

These Cameras will work for any map covering these countries.
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, UK & USA.

To install:
You don't need the PNA or META from a map.
What you do need is:
Download EasyUseTools (Keygen).
The two files .VER and .Ov2 for each camera (copied into) "insert_meta_from_Map_here"
A meta.txt with the meta code for the cameras in Progs folder
Your device ID
Click on the command program called "RunMeforDCT"
Select normally 1 (enter)
Select normally 1 again (enter)
Type in your Device ID (enter)
Close the "RunMeforDCT" window
Copy the VER, Ov2 and newly created DCT files from "insert_meta_from_Map_here" folder into your map.

(Installation instructions thanks to Rytenuff)

PLEASE NOTE: These Camera Files are NOT like normal POI's, for more information on this and also to check to see if your camera's work, check this post: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4356191&postcount=3348

PS. There are many new patching tools now to choose from that are very easy to use that you can find on previous posts.

Enjoy & Please show your Appreciation!!!

Mo.

To make Custom Cursors

1, Locate a suitable image or take a photo of your own car.
2, Image size should be re-sized to 80 x 80 pixels.
TomTom automatically sets any part of the image that is red
(RGB 255,000,000) to transparent.
3, For optimum results a continuous 1 pixel white or black border should be added around the cursor.
4, The image should be saved as .bmp (bitmap).

Thanks

Hmm interesting. I'm playing with dsa's navcore skin selection and tool icons and by trial and error found that 90 x 60 pixels prevents the TT from resizing the image and distorting them, the apperance is dramatically better (I will try 80 x 80 again just to be sure). However what I still find frustrating is that the TT appears not to be displaying the full 24 bit colour information. The image is created as a bitmap with 24 bit colour however when displayed on the TT the colour would only appear to be 8 bit or less. Colour rendering does not work, I have even tried capturing a TT screen icon (the x40 preference icon) and using that, but the rendering is lost when displayed on the TT. It suggests that the TT is not using the full 24 bit colour. This means that icons created for applications never have the same 'slick' apperance as the original TT icons. I wonder if this has been done deliberatly by TT :(

Link to dsa-win.zip with Install on device:

http://www.2shared.com/file/6286828/22150403/dsa-win.html

New: an Install check box next to the Patch button which detects the connected TT device or SD card and displays the target drive in the box below.
The target drive can be edited by user if installation is intended for an empty device/SD (with no ttgo.bif file).
Reprocessing of the TT CAB is supressed if the dsa package is already generated, therefore installations can be repeated without delay.
TT CAB Patch, Install and Map-Patch are all triggered by the Patch button, as before.

No Help yet.

In case you'd wonder how to install in a certain directory (where you'd want to gather a complete TT image), use the "subst" DOS command (start the Command Prompt from Accessories first), e.g.:

subst T: c:\mytt\image1

where T: is a new drive substituted to real directory c:\mytt\image1.

If you'd also want to have the new drive T: recognized automatically by dsa.exe, just place a file named ttgo.bif in directory c:\mytt\image1, e.g.

echo >T:\ttgo.bif

(content doesn't matter, if you wish you could place the real ttgo.bif file, taken from device, on drive T: )

T: can be also edited into the edit control below the Install check box.

To undo the substitution, issue:

subst T: /d

which files do i need to patch a map?

i am trying to patch a few maps for a mate but i dont have his tomtom.

so i copied the ttgo.bif i made with his device id to a memory stick with 8.413 and have patched the UK map (as its a 1gb memory stick)
have also done western europe 830_2306.

but its too small for western and central europe so i wondered if i could copt just some of the files from the map folder.

I tried the
western and central europe 35.meta
western and central europe.pna

what else do i need or do i need them all?

No guarantee it will work, but try putting the 2 files in a folder on the stick, if you already haven't done so.

Thanks TD i tried that , it didnt work.

In the end i used BU's tomtom map patcher an put the files in the folder to patch them.

i just thought there might be a way of putting key files in to create the DCT.

Thanks. I see a lot of windows tools, but are there any mac tools? I could probably use the unix/linux tools on a mac but was just wondering.

dsa.zip might work under mac. The only two commands I am not sure about are dsa/local/bin/ttimgextract and dsa/local/bin/mkttimage . However, their sources are at http://opentom.org/Ttimgextract and http://opentom.org/Mkttimage respectively, and can be easily recompiled on a mac.

The syntax of the dsa/dsa-cabpatch and dsa/dsa-mappatch tools is described in post #4487 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4539915&postcount=4487), while the latest dsa-all.zip package is in post #4494 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4543776&postcount=4494) (though latest dsa-win.zip is in post #4546 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4560368&postcount=4546)).

I would be interested in getting the mac ttimgextract & mkttimage binaries, if different from Linux, to post a dsa-mac.zip version too.
Any dsa mac feedback would be most welcome.

Start from post #4546 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4560368&postcount=4546) and use TT CAB http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/8.351-go940.CAB-navcore-GO.cab .
Try options x40 and L34 (no CF).
Do a back-up first.
Then read about maps.

Download the TT CAB on your Desktop. Get dsa-win.zip and unzip it on your Desktop. Run dsa.exe (send it to your Desktop too) from within folder dsa-win. Select TT CAB/Open to open the tt cab just downloaded. Select Install with your device connected to PC. Try two options, x40 and L34, after each one disconnect device and let it start-up to see how it does. Execute all with the big patch button.

x40 is better. Get also the latest LoquendoTTS folder from post #2213 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4166847&postcount=2213), INSTEAD of the eventual existing one on your device, later on you could add/remove computer voices.

You remove the existing LoquendoTTS folder and unzip the new one instead. Then you do an Install&Patch with dsa. Which version is causing the reboot, x40 or L34?

No, no, try L34 instead! x40 is better if supported by device, if not, then L34 is better for your device.

Another TT CAB to try to is http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/8.413.xl2009_live_2048_tts.CAB-navcore-XL_LIVE.cab

It would be good to do the tests with a patched map on device too. Read about maps, easyusetools, etc.

Other ONE owners could help us out here, what version works for them, a full x40 or a lite/light one ?

Go for x40!

Download a map (size matters) on your device (top level folder, e.g. MAP_NAME_830_2305).

Get this Easyusetools map tool from post #3032 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4270581&postcount=3032). With device connected to PC, click on RunMeforAllAutomatic (from inside Easyusetools... folder) then select option (1) -- to patch all your maps/cameras, etc.

No, it has already detected the device ID, it's connected to PC. Then all maps on device are patched. Option (1) I think.

Actually, you can read the device ID it's inside file ttgo.bif (10 letters or so) on device.

You could restore (you did make a backup?), then make a simple map patching of the on device ttsystem file with program yDGpatch. This will let you use a newer patched map. There are some restrictions however over map compatibilities between newer maps and older navcores...

I think it has to do with the data_*.chk files on device.

You could also get this package: http://rs216.rapidshare.com/files/229868802/SE_Navcore.8.413.1237.Basicpack.rar , see whether all the data_*.chk files there could make a difference to your device.

Its downloading, Just wondering what does the CF tickbox do in DSA-win?

And Im guessing you know that that file is a .rar so im assuming you want me to copy and paste the files onto the tomtom

Update:
DUDE you are the great TOMTOM guru lol, It worked! I ow u a beer lol and my dad :p

If you look at the top corners you will see that two white squares where the plus and minus buttons would be

Something is missing in the picture, you do not have the Quick menu icon on the left side of the screen.

You helped a lot too. It seems that those data_*.chk files are all required.

Can you please confirm that what was missing for the ONE devices are the two data_is1/2.chk files? (remove/restore them, if you still have the patience...)
Maybe data_3d.chk too?

I have browsed all available TT CABs that have to do with ONE devices, and I could find out that indeed for ONE devices, it appears that the two required "skins" are data_is1.chk and data_is2.chk ("s" stands for "small"?) while for all other devices, GOs, the required skins are data_im1.chk and data_im2.chk (im(age)1/2?).
However, I could not find anywhere (I looked for) data_is1.chk. Only data_is2.chk seems to be officially available. I wonder where did ttuser find data_is1.chk... and whether it has the same role its GO counterpart (data_im1.chk) has -- to enable the x20/x30 looks (while data_im2.chk is for the x40 looks, data_is2.chk too?)

I am going to add the "small" ONE skins to my release asap, great feedback, thanks.

"ONE" :) more question, do the Skin buttons from menu page four work on your one? I mean, does the x30 Skin look orangish while the x20 should look bluish, and x40, of course, blackish?

Hi all,

I purchased a 740 GO Live last week and downloaded the 8.351 Navcore from TomTom. I uncompressed the cab file on my Mac and copied over the contents to the TomTom drive. It replaced the existing data there. Everything seemed OK, but upon further review I noticed that voice command is now grayed out and I lost my computer voices.

Unfortunately I created a new backup with this version. Is there a way to get voice command back? I can probably just download the computer voices.

Thanks in advance!

Link to dsa-all.15June09.zip:

http://www.2shared.com/file/6330592/b00b1aed/dsa-all15June09.html

New: all three packages come with proper ONE support, that is the necessary small skin files are included.
For convenience, the GO/XL normal skin files are included too.
As a result, practically regardless of the source TT CAB, the generated navcore patches will work with all TT devices (hopefully!)
(previous versions are deleted)

Note that in the future these skin files (data_*.chk) may have to be updated.

Get the good LoquendoTTS folder from post #2213 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4166847&postcount=2213), and replace yours.

That got the voices - thanks for that, but I'm more concerned with get voice command working again.

Good morning, and yes dude all of them work, One slight problem is there is no clear route button so If i set a route it wont clear until I set a route or lose signal and then tell it to cancel :p

The CF check box is for Compact Flash card support, i.e. devices with a HDD originally that has been replaced with a CF+adapter (or SSD), like my go910 :)

Are you sure, there is such a Clear route button in menu 3, grayed out if no route planned yet. It should be in x40 emulation mode, at least.

With the new version of dsa-win.zip, NC v8.351 should also work on your device, it was a skin data file issue yesterday. Test it out, again.

I guessed it so, but you complained about computer voices, I thought.
Anyway, that is easy too, make a text file named "asr/support_asr.dat" with one line reading "1" . (End the line with CR/LF, like under Windows, or just with LF like under Unix/mac, see which one works, maybe both)

This is how hexedit sees my asr/support_asr.dat file:
00000000 31 0D 0A 1..

"asr" may be spelled with upper case letters under Windows, where case does not matter.

Hi dsa8310,

Did you use x40 on your 910?

Thanks,
Mathias

YES. All devices except for XL (apparently it needs L34) could use it.

these cameras area combination of my own personal subscriptions to tomtom and those compiled by THE MAVERICK. full credit goes to THE MAVERICK for the work he does within the tomtom community and for the work he puts in compiling the meta.txt files.

please note
ALWAYS make a backup of your tomtom before you tinker with it. either by using tomtom home or just by copying the entire contents of your memory card or device to your pc.

also note that tomtom have now rescinded their free cams for south Africa. the south African cams now require a subscription of £28.00 per year.

could anybody tell me which one of the above maps contain German,Austria,Italy and Greece? all-in-one?
I want to drive from Greece to German...

Both the Western_Central Europe and the Eastern_Central Europe cover German, Austria and Italy, sadly neither have Greece.

It hasn't made it across the big pond yet. I cheated & just got it from TT.com.

yeah it seems that they have not yet rolled it out to every one, although without delving deep into the inner workings so far i can see no discernible differences.

You usually don't see the changes, unles it's a major change, ie 2.6 to 2.7 or maybe 3.0.

I'm hoping to see one day a TTHome (map) Update for ALL maps on device, not just the current one. If in a hurry one could simply decline the offer. Having to operate the device to change the current map and re-request the device update in a loop is cumbersome.

agreed.i find it more than annoying to have to load each map individually just to get a few mapshare fixes for each. on my main unit i use for testing purposes i have 8 maps installed. a single all in one update would be a fantastic idea.

Yes, there is.
Unfortunately, on this forum, you can not edit your posts after 10 minutes. So if your links have changed it is difficult. If you could edit your posts it would not take so much space and be a lot easier also This forum does not use the standard BB Code as most do. Hope that this explains the situation.

If you would, please advise of error, so that it may be corrected.

Hi everyone,
I'm relatively newbie with the tomtom pna systems and possibly do something wrong.I read most of last pages in this forum and still can't understand why it goes all way trough boot the show a blue screen with no map on it, then crashes and goes trough the loop blue screen-reboot. I have got ONE XL v1 and unzipped 8.413.xl2009_live_2048_tts.CAB-navcore-XL_LIVE into my device then using last version of DSA-win software patched it to 8.413.l34 and unzipped it over to the device. Using easytools I patched map United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland 830.2305. Any help on what I've done wrong would be much approciated. My appologies for any gramatical mistakes have been made. Thanks in advance, Stan

If you have a ONE, then use x40.
If you have an XL, then use L34.

The latest dsa-win.zip is in post #4607 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4566707&postcount=4607) and is supposed to offer support to ONE devices (with smaller screen) too. Throw away older dsa versions.

Hi all,

I've down loaded the UK and Ireland map which is a two part file (v8.30). what do I do with the two parts the last time I down loaded a map it was just the one file which I used with navcore. I'm a little lost right now as what to do next any help in layman's terms would be great.

Cheers

Consider just posting the edited part, instead of the whole long drawn out post. BTW, there has been a glaring error since the first post, that you still haven't seen or corrected.

Put both parts of the UK & Ir map in a folder. Extract the last part [all parts will be extracted.] Use winzip or winrar. Not 7Zip or you will get CRC errors
There you go.

Hello dsa8310,

I just bought a Go 940 live and want to play with it. I tired to install some other applications on the sd card, but although I see the menu entries on the device nothing happens when I select them... So I figured to go on and try the alternative images tools.

So thanks for providing the dsa packages. I downloaded it and used the linux version to create a dsa_navcore.8351.zip from 8.351-go940.CAB-navcore-GO.cab.

But I'm a bit at a loss what to do next. I tried to look for instructions/howto in this thread, but could not find it yet (the thread is so long....)
Should I just unpack the zip file on the tomtom internal disk? Or do I have to put it on the sd card? Or...

Thanks.

Download USA/Canada map 830.2323 from post 4632
Get new TT software version:http://forum.ppcwarez.org/viewtopic.php?f=264&t=53303 Choose VGA or QVGA version based on your device.
Get the tool to patch the maps here http://www.2shared.com/file/5301294/...A5_v05717.html (http://www.2shared.com/file/5301294/...A5_v05717.html)

You shouldn't care about the "hunk failed" message, go ahead and install on device, use the Install check box with device connected to PC.
(The "hunk failed" message is normal and reflects the inconsistencies in TT's encoding)

I don't think that you need the patched navcore packages for your device.

However, to install new maps, you'd need a so called map-patching procedure.

Use program yDGpatch to map-patch the original ttsystem file on your device (or the one resulted after simply extracting the original TT CAB on device). If the TT CAB comes with a PNDNavigator file, then map-patch it instead of ttsystem (you could use dsa.exe to map-patch a PNDNavigator file, but NOT a ttsystem; both are map-patched by yDGpatch).

Then read about how to install a new 8.30 map on device and the Easyusetools program that patches all maps/camera files on device.
(It's in one of my recent posts)

There are other map-patching newer tools too, highly recommended for a top of the line device that only needs the new maps, check recent postings here.

However, if you'd like to check out the extra skins and menu items offered by the dsa navcore patches, go ahead and extract on top of device firstly the original TT CAB and afterward the dsa_navcore.8351.zip package. Then deal with the new maps as described above (just the Easyusetools part, the dsa packages come for convenience with the map-patching of the NC done).

On the internal disk.

If your third party applications do not work well, then you need v8.413 of the NC, NOT v8.351!!
(If TTHome does not offer v8.413 to your device, and it won't, then get the TT CAB 8.413.xl2009_live_2048_tts.CAB-navcore-XL_LIVE.cab instead of the v8.351 one, same downloading location)

It's either a ONE or an XL, but not both, is it not?!

There are two classes of TT devices from a screen resolution point of view, and regardless of the screen size: the 480X272 devices, e.g. GO x1/2/3/40, XL and the 320X240 ones, e.g. GO x00, ONE.
The two classes need different "skin" files, both sets are provided in the latest dsa tools.

From recent feedback, it appears that ONE devices work with the full x40 emulation. All GO x1/2/3/40 devices work with the same x40 emulation, undoubtedly.
I do not know anything about the XL devices, but it seems that they might need a "light/lite" x40 emulation, most likely L34. Extra feedback from XL owners could help sort things out.

TTS for all devices (computer voices) can be configured starting from the good/newer LoquendoTTS top-level folder in post #2213 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4166847&postcount=2213).

Speech recognition/command is for devices with a mic, which need folder ASR (take it from TT CAB v8.351) and a text file to be created IN folder ASR, named "support_asr.dat", with content a single line reading "1" (quotes not part of line/name).

I've downloaded the UK & Ireland map (UK.ROI.830.2305) and put them in my tt one as well as Navcore 8.410.1218 (which works great with my OZ map). With the UK & Ireland map it just tells me that this map cannot be used on this device. Does anyone out there have any idea of what it is I need to do to get it up and running? Any help in layman's terms would be great.

There is no requirement to use 2307 maps on a 510. WE&C 2305, WE&C 2305 2GB if your SD card is a 2 GB, will work just fine.

At this moment, in my hand, I have a TomTom labeled ONE XL. I have bought it at the end of 2007.

Then, either get a ready-made package or generate your own patch starting from TT's original cabinet file, using dsa-win.zip from post #4607 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4566707&postcount=4607).

The most recent NCs are either v8.413 or v8.351. I use v8.351.

The source TT CABs are:

http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/8.413.xl2009_live_2048_tts.CAB-navcore-XL_LIVE.cab

and

http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/8.351-go940.CAB-navcore-GO.cab

respectively.

Try two dsa.exe options: first x40 and then L34, see which one works for your device; x40 would be preferable. Check the Install box with device connected to PC, it will do the on device installation too.

The ready-made package option is not bad either.

I have just discovered - better late than never - that GO 700 has natively a 2.5GB CF card as hard disk (also probably easy to upgrade to a larger capacity), so the (dsa.exe) CF check box could make a difference (in speed) to it too.

If it wasn't for the smaller screen (&resolution), but with its USB 2.0(!) interface, GO 700 seemed quite a catch...

I would say the same for v8.351. There is a ttsystem.8351-legit posted somewhere that should replace the ttsystem offered by TT.

Tomplayer works no. TTconsole does not much as the navigator screen comes up over and over again.
But creating a small shell script that outputs mount point and process info into a file works fine. That output brought soms understanding about the 'patched' navcores to (I thought the link ttn to /mnt/sdcard/PNDnaviagtor was on the removable sdcard but now I know it is actually on the internal memory).
Thanks for the helpful hints!

@ dsa8310 @ Hey DSA, Just a quick query, At the moment i have got NC 8.413 running ok on the 910, I'm not sure but I think I read on one of your posts a while back that tomtom changed the coding on one of the recent NC's so that the traffic bar does not show up when connected to the mount... Is their a newish NC that does that apart from 8.204??? Thanks, Mo.

Yes, v8.351 puts third party application in the background while v8.413 does not, so they will work as expectedly under v8.413 (e.g. TTconsole).
Look at the mount_storage function in /etc/rc, you'll see how storage is actually mounted.
If you install a dsa navcore, then you'll have some extra menu items, among which "TomTom Tool" is a TTconsole run before the ttn is started (after quitting it, ttn runs normally).

I really do not know what TT does...
Nor do I know ahead of time when new NCs are released, what is the name of TT CABs, etc.
I rely solely on Forum/Google to get my info.

v8.351 displays the RDS/TMC bar, so does v8.413. Get used to it :)

G'day,

I've downloaded the UK & Ireland map (UK.ROI.830.2305) and put them in my tt one as well as Navcore 8.410.1218 (which works great with my OZ map). With the UK & Ireland map it just tells me that this map cannot be used on this device. Does anyone out there have any idea of what it is I need to do to get it up and running? Any help in layman's terms would be great.

Cheers

THE FOLLOWING IS A NOTE FROM MSUBEDAR AND THE CREDIT FOR IT IS RIGHTLY HIS.

ALSO NOTE
These Camera files I post up here are NOT POI's.... On most new Navcore's you cannot see them as a POI (However, on some older versions I have seen them visible as a POI), As these are original TomTom files, your tomtom NC will read them as originals after they have been patched to your device so it does not need to show them as a POI. Your TomTom will know what to do with them and automatically will add a warning beep etc which is something you can choose and change to which beep you want etc. BUT AGAIN, THESE FILES ARE NOT RECOGNIZED AS A POI. (For example if you also use SCDB Camera files or PocketGPS Camera's, you will notice that they are available as POI's so you have the normal settings available to you to change if you wish.)

Once the files have been patched to your device (.dct files created) then just put all the files in your map folder (.ver file not needed but no harm is done if you also put them in).

To check if they work: (Tip: I would just switch off any other camera files you may have in the POI section like PGPS or SCDB Camera's to avoid confusion while testing)

Create a route where you know you will be going past a Camera (To be sure, create the route so you are on the correct side of the road, in the same direction the Camera is facing) and in Route Summary, do a Demo of the Route (at 500% is fine) and if the camera shows up whilst its on the Demo and it beeps then you know everything is working.

HOPE THIS HELPS

Thanks for posting the camera files. they work fine. Two local cameras are not marked on these map files. The old POI (think they were from Pocketgps originally) cameras that I was using on the old software before recent upgrades had them as the cameras in question have been there nearly a year.

Just wondering if I'm just unlucky with my location or if these are a little unreliable? Is the old POI method still an option with the newer navcores if the data is better?

i prefer the pocketgps cams my self and have a full sub for my own personal use. it is possible that these cams have not been submitted to tomtom and as such they are not on their database, however i know that the tomtom cams can be a bit off with some cams if there not pointing in your direction of travel. as for the old POI method, i doubt it but i have not been into tomtom's for long ( just a couple of months ) so i'm not sure with that method is.

EDIT. just re read your reply and now i get it.
if you can find a copy of the pocketgps database they will work just fine with any navcore but they are very hard to come without paying for.

It's a legit v8.351 that fixes only the TT storage mount procedure.
To get the new maps accepted, you also need to map-patch the ttsystem file with program yDGpatch!

The new 830.2305/6/7 maps will be accepted if you apply to them another map-patching procedure, with program Easyusetools (Runmeforallautomatic) for example, that is specific to each device.

Keep in mind, there are two interconnected map-patching procedures: the one applied to the NC (ttsystem or PNDNavigator) - same for all devices - and the one applied to the map folders (with device connected to PC preferably), device specific.
Premade NC packages come usually with the NC map-patching already done, for convenience.
So are the generated dsa.exe ones.

Easy enough to find on usenet. A grabit (http://www.shemes.com/index.php) search for 'tomtom speed' brings up files from 10th June. Seem to remember making all the different POI types active and adding sounds is a bit of a pain but probably worth it if it is more comprehensive.

Hi guys, i need a bit of help. I have read through lots of this thread and I am totally confused. I have Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB_830.2306, which I am trying to put onto mY TT One XL. I already have UK and Ireland V815.2024. App 8.010.

As the internal memory is too small to put the map onto I have transferred it onto an 2gb SD card. I tried patching it to no avail, also when I access the SD card I cannot access the internal memory. Can someone tell me the step by step procedure to get this map working.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Hi

I have bought a 2GB SD card for my TomTom One XL and downloaded the Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB_810_1940 map.

But when I boot up the GPS from the SD card I am told that there are no maps and in the Home app on my Mac I can see that it is because the map is not activated.

Can someone give me a hint to get around this?

The TomTom Application version is 7.162 and the map is version 810.1940.

The map that were on the internal memory is only of Western Europe and my problem is actually exactly like bigboab5's problem.

*UPDATE*

I copied all data except the map from the internal memory and to my laptop and the copied all the files to the SD card.

Now when I boot from the SD card I get to a screen where I can select map. But when I select Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB_810_1940 I get this message:

"There is a problem with the card
You cannot use this card on this unit:

Any ideas/tips would be appreciated - thanks in advance.

Yeah I used the yDG on the NC as norm and (RunmeforDCT) on the 830 Maps as i've done in the past but can't seem to get these latest maps to work duhh  !!!
Is the dsa.exe a Navcore done by yourself ? and can I just wipe my 520 and copy your Navcore on with no patching (only the maps) ???

Read post #4653 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4575754&postcount=4653) about TTS and ASR.
Read post #4584 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4565952&postcount=4584) about Easyusetools - map patching.
Get dsa-win.zip from post #4607 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4566707&postcount=4607). Run dsa.exe within directory dsa-win, after unzipping.
The TT CABs to choose from are in post #4662 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4579048&postcount=4662). I recommend v8.351.

In principle, you do not need to wipe out and start from scratch. Overwriting all is enough.

Your device will work with (dsa.exe) option x40. Check the Install box too, with device connected to PC, it will do the on device installation too. (If your device, for whatever reason, does not have the ttgo.bif file, then you'll have to edit the device's drive letter by hand, in the box below the Install check(ed) box).

Get also advice from people with dual storage devices (internal + SD) about where to install stuff, if in doubt.

My go910 is set to switch off when external power is lost (battery saving preferences). And it stays off.
I never leave it in the car/mount - not since my go720 was stolen, side window broken, etc...

Hi guys,

Ok I finally got the TT One XL to work with my map of western and Central europe. I thought this would include a map for Romania, but it is a very simple map for Romania, showing from what I can see, only main roads. Does a map for Romania exist?

It might be useful to others if you explain what you did to get it working.

Have you tried the Central And Eastern Europe map 830.2305? that might have better coverage of Romania on it.

Ok well, first of all, I had no idea how the thing worked, I was most confused, cos when I added the SD card, nothing would work, I assumed, incorrectly, that the SD card would just be additional storage for the TT, that is not the case, when you insert the SD card, it becomes the only storage source for the TT and the internal memory is no longer used. So first thing you have to do is restore your data from your computer to your SD card. then you have a basic system with your original map on the SD card (in my case UK and Ireland). I then copied over the map to my SD card, and then followed the instructions as detailed with the download. ( I donwloaded it via newsgroups) It came with an activator and patcher which was very simple to use called "easy activator" by Albert Swafega. gtreat little program that did everything, even downloaded the correct meta text, when the supplied one didn't work. All in, it took more time to transfer files than it did to get it working.

Hi Thephonejunky,

First job BACKUP the SD card.

Second start off with a new or blank formatted SD card, don't use Windows to format the SD card, do a search for a SD card format utility.

I have the following working 100% on my GO300:

TomTom GO 300 with Navcore v8.410 (1218). Boot 5.5120.
Map United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland v830.2305.

ALG and IQ all working, Mapshare ok, TT Home working ok, computer voices ok, it says the street names, road names etc ok.

Create a route where you know you will be going past a Camera (To be sure, create the route so you are on the correct side of the road, in the same direction the Camera is facing) and in Route Summary, do a Demo of the Route (at 500% is fine) and if the camera shows up whilst its on the Demo and it beeps then you know everything is working.

i.e. I would like to obtain the updated Great_Britain maps; however; there appears to be at least 6 to 8 versions and I do not understand what the differences is between the xx.meta extension?

ReDeamer,
sorry for a late reply, but it say so because you haven't all parts of a archive, so winrar cannot unpack it. You need all 14 parts to get it extracted

Link to dsa-all.25June09.zip:

http://www.2shared.com/file/6451720/948cd419/dsa-all25June09.html

New: dsa-win.zip has changed, in that the (dsa_navcore) "skin" files data_*.chk are installed only if found missing from the device storage.
This will give precedence to the supposedly better suited skin files that come with the TT CAB (which are always installed).
It will also avoid overwriting one's good collection of skins.

I have a TomTom One 130 (not S) with 1 gb of internal memory bought in California this spring. The things is, I've moved back to Sweden after a while there and brought my GPS with me, for obvious reasons.

I've tried to follow the different instructions for installing maps, with different programs found on the internet, but no matter how much I try, it still won't recognize either the maps or the activation of the maps. This is getting somewhat frustrating for me since I need it pretty soon, and I don't even think that I can buy the maps for this device, I looked at TomTom Home, but I couldn't find any maps for this part of the world, which is very unpleasant, and IF it would exist, then it would still be like 50-70-ish euros and that's pretty tacky when you have bought a decent GPS in another country, just to be able to use it somewhere else.

BUT, that's another issue, this issue is whether or not I can get Scandinavia, Western Europe or similar onto my device with some help from u guys, I have a couple of different maps, but with no instructions, so I have had to guess on every small steps I'm not sure of, like the name of the maps on the device, which files that goes where, how I can activate the maps and/or device, how the meta codes works and how easytools works. I've seen multiple guides for doing so on a PDA like my SE X1 Xperia, but none that fits my type of device, the One series (like 130).

Can anyone help me, please. I can't really find a solution for this on my own anymore...
Thanks in advance,
Have a great day,

Well, I did follow the instructions, but when everythings's finished and I start it up, the device is in a boot-loop without getting anywhere. How frustrating!

Now it's reconnected to my computer and here is the potential problems with the installation - Things that weren't covered in the guide.

When running the ASR, I choosed x40 as u said and marked install, but I didn't recieve any message that it were done?

When I installed NC v8.351, the device asked me to copy and replace or not copy some files that had to do with boot and stuff like that, I picked replace after a couple of minutes pondering about the right alternative. Although, that may be wrong? I couldn't find any information regarding that part.

The first step with patching the maps went by without any wrong messages, it said that everything worked and that I should press any key to exit.

Unzip dsa-win.zip to the Desktop. Run dsa.exe from within folder dsa-win.
Connect device to PC. Check Install, it will recognize the device drive letter. Open the TT CAB, better choose 8.413.xl2009_live_2048_tts.CAB-navcore-XL_LIVE.cab (http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/8.413.xl2009_live_2048_tts.CAB-navcore-XL_LIVE.cab) (first download the cabinet to the Desktop).
Then click Patch and answer "yes" to the only question asked at the end about the target destination.
Disconnect from PC and let device start-up. It should work...

At any time install folders LoquendoTTS and ASR on device - with overwrite all.
Better remove eventual existing LoquendoTTS first and replace it entirely with the good LoquendoTTS folder.

I have downloaded the new saftey cameras from #4728 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4598595&postcount=4728) but I am now getting alerts even when there are no speed cameras on the road. This is not just a one-off experience but it happens pretty much all of the time.

Has anyone else come across this and is there a way to fix this using the settings on my TomTom One V3?

Cheers.

hi all, I just purchased a new Nokia 5800 Music Express and I downloaded Nokia Map from the website but my GPS only worked for 7 days.

My IMEI is 354216035516560

Soory for my lack of exposure but I would assume that I would need the followings to run GPS on my Nokia 5800:

1. A mobile phone with built-in GPS satelite received which Nokia 5800 has it (sympian OS)
2. UN expired licensed copy of the program that will run the map and routing on the mobile phone which i dont have
3. Maps which one wishes to get the GPS routing on. I am in South East Asia and Middle East for the most part and I would be grateful if someone can give me some pointers to the maps of Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Many thanks in Advance

EasyUsetools is a dinosaur. Try an all-in-one state of the art tool:

Hello room,
Am seriously looking free navigation with voice for use with N82 and for Mainland China (English pls if possible) and West African Nigeria, with license of keygen.
Any goodhearted pls help. You may also email @ neighborhoodhiphop@yahoo.com.
I've searched here for over one week and can't find it. Euro 69.99 is really too much from Nokia.

That's a whole different phase, that 99% of the users know nothing about.

NO TROJAN. For some reason Avira is flagging it. For conformation, go to this site:

http://www.virustotal.com/

and upload the KG v3.1C folder.

Avira and AVG 7.5 / 8.0 are made by the same company and detect anything with unknown header signatures ase viruses

Try using a better anti-virus ;)
