How do i go about doing this is my TomTom Map & Software is legit?

To keep your device "legit", copy the entire contents of it onto a 4GB sd card. Add the Homer voice. Download this keygen:

http://www.2shared.com/file/7012335/2027f987/KG_2009_v31D.html (http://www.gpsunderground.com/forums/redirector.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.2shared.com%2F file%2F7012335%2F2027f987%2FKG_2009_v31D.html)

If you get Error message msinet.ocx not registered run the ( register msinet.ocx.bat) file
If you still get an error then copy the msinet.ocx to the windows\system32 folder and run the ( register msinet.ocx.bat)
If that doesn't work reinstall Microsoft (http://www.gpsunderground.com/forums/redirector.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.home.disney.go .com-forum.com%2Fshowthread.php%3Ft%3D343210%23) .NET Framework 3.5 service pack 1 or later

Run "Patch system" & "Make map keys".

@KBCTU:

Dazed and confused? :)

Don't be!
All tools yield the very same result upon your software, just the interface differs.

Decide whether getting a human voice versus a computer one is worth the trouble of doing it.
Decide whether buying new maps in the future is OK with you, or sharing them for free (via patching) would be a better choice.

By the way, the current map version is 830, so if you have an older one, you might as well decide to upgrade now.

OMG! Its worked!

Thank you so much guys!

Can i still use my TomTom as normal; eg. edit/download map corrections, device updates, free downloaded POI + pointers.. etc?

@das8310 TBH i would rather get them free.. its a joke we have to pay for updated maps when we spend 350+ on the satnav (and there not always up to date). Where is the best place to find updated maps for the 940? Currently i have Westen & Central Europe V 8258.2157 and North America V 825.2157.

Thanks again :D

PS: Anyone know where i can find the US version of the Homer Voice?

Without the card, Your TT is unchanged and will function as normal. With the card in, your TT will boot from the card and will still function as normal. The 830 maps are posted on this thread. Use the search feature.
I haven't seen the US Homer. The UK yards version is available.

I thought so. Welcome to the dark side of the Force! :)

Dig for NA 830.2284 and W&CE 830.2305; use a winrar to put all parts together in one top level folder, usually named North_America_830_2284, Western_and_Central_Europe_830_2305.

x40, yes, I believe so.
I could also insert the "classic" Linux kernel, but I really do not know if it will be compatible with the new v8.370 PNDNavigator.

Try it out:

http://www.2shared.com/file/7057759/ba9cec04/ttsystemhybrid-classic.html

It might be worse, totally incompatible, or not...

Sorry for my late reply,

The classic linux kernel doesn't work. Either the touch screen doesn'T work or TomTom froze.

So, still no success :(

You don't want a USA & Canada map. You want North America 830.2284. Also WE&C 830.2305 2.01GB.

Unzip each map into it's own folder. Cut you old map from your 940. Copy the 2 new map folders into the device & patch just like Homer

Since I can not get it up and running, I did all again from scratch.

All went fine up to version 7.9xxx I checked the GPS Version and it told me it uses version 1.21.

I updated it now, and checked the version again: GPS Version is now 1.20. I had a look around and saw on some sceenshots, a TT9xx used also Version 1.21 for GPS.

I checked the Satelit info page on my device and there is no action on it. Compared to Version 7, it should have a spinning yellow/black circle.....my one is staedy. Also, it should display some numbers in the bars ant the bottom.......nothing here. For me it seems there is an issue with the driver. Even if GPSfix would be installed......that will not help.

Any ideas?

Do not attempt the x40 emulation because it does NOT exist with the early v8 versions.
You should delete the top level file named "reskin" from the root of your storage so that the x30 emulation will be the default.

I really think that your best bet now is to try the early v8.0** versions, the x30 emulation is not inferior to the x40 one except for the mic icon - which would be useless anyway with a mic-less device.

hi @ all,

I really tried (for the last 54 mins) to understand what is going with updating my TT one New Edition (V2 ??? V3???).

Currently I am using a very slow version of navcore 8.0xx and a V7 Map.

I am looking for the best possible combination for my PNA (using navcore 8.41x and WE Map 830, I guess).

If someone could please lighten me up what I have to do (which patches to use and which map and navcore to install to make it all work with IQ routes, ASR etc.).

Thanks in advance! I am totally lost in this huge thread!

Greetings!

1) Search the thread (advanced search button) for an appropriately sized W&CE version 830 map (830.2305), get all parts and extract them to a top level folder usually named like Western_and_Central_Europe_830_2305, on your device.
2) Get the LoquendoTTS.zip package and unzip it instead of the eventually existing LoquendoTTS folder on device.
3) Get the latest NC v8.370 TT CAB, download it to your PC Desktop.
4) Get package dsa-all.01August09.zip and extract dsa-win.zip to the Desktop; then send dsa.exe (make link) to the Desktop too.
5) Get package Easyusetools, extract it to the Desktop.

6) Run dsa.exe with device connected to PC; select the Install box, open the TT CAB with the leftmost open button, click the Patch button and answer yes to install on device's drive.
Disconnect and let device start-up; then reconnect to PC (even if no maps were selectable yet).

7) Run command RunMeforAllAutomatic(.cmd) from within folder Easyusetools..., select option 1.

Now, your device is upgraded and your maps are all patched.

My recent posts, all make reference to the required tools, packages, etc.
Again, look for the items I mentioned above with the thread's search button.

Erase the compromised map folder and recreate a new top level map folder with all map parts extracted within.
Then get the latest Easyusetools, extract it to the Desktop and run Runmeforallautomatic, option 1, again.

Is your NC patched too (either with yDGpatch or upgraded with dsa.exe)?

Remember, both the NC and the map have to be patched.

Feel free to use any of the other existing tools to patch your device, beside those mentioned/used by me. :)

I did all you said and tried them....no success. Either I do something really wrong or it won't work with a GO classic. As long as I can't get version 8 running ( still believe this is based on the driver ) I'll use version 7.903.

I know the following question doesn't fit here but, is map version 830.2305 running on it or any erlier version or should I turn back to version 7 maps?

Again, thanks to all who thought on this and tried to help me.

The 8.3(5|7)x NCs have the ASR folder which otherwise has to be added to the 8.41x installations. Plus some other differences. It does not matter, but v8.370 seems the latest. I use it. On the other hand, v8.417 has the TTHome software available for "operate my GO" while v8.370 does not as yet.
Try them all out.

Just to add i have maged to update my maps i think LOL says v830 for EU but when i plug my tomtom in and home loads it tell me to download v825 is that normal LOL

Thanks agian :)

Ignore the lesser offer from TTHome - or accept it, then erase it from device with TTHome (it is actually stored on PC, not deleted forever); this way TTHome will stop its annoying offer.

I could use yGDpatch to make maps version 8 running on it :)

TTHome offers 7.903 as latest version which works

OK, then let's try this 7903 kernel in the context of a dsa.exe v8.370 installation:

http://www.2shared.com/file/7130189/d274f047/ttsystem7903-8370.html

(replace the ttsystem only as before)

Though it might still not work...

Try the 830.xxxx map with the official 7.903 NC, but patch the official ttsystem file with yDGpatch, it's mandatory. I don't recall whether 830.* maps are compatible with v7 NCs, just check it out yourself.

When testing my ttsystems, you should start from a clean v8.370 installed with dsa.exe.

So, the gps still does not work.

I have noticed something about the gps configuration, I will come up with something else soon.

There is another gps parameter that can be forced to either 1 or 0, now it is 1.
The third gps parameter does not matter because I put the old 7.903 driver inside.

Actually, the v8.370 gps driver looks very much backward compatible, hence the hardware recognition phase seems wrong.

It might work this time... If it will, I will try to simplify things, so that no special kernel would be necessary.

I would try v8.417 too, with this TT CAB:

@ DSA: Thanks for your help! I managed to install the 8.370 (GO?) Navcore on my TT One New Edition. Map DE_AT_CH also implemented! Thanks!!!

Now I am looking for the German voices and some cams. Unfortunately, all the RS links here seem to be down.

Do you know where to get them and how to install these upgrades?

Thanks in advance! Will share the knowledge!

Hi everyone.

I am fairly new to this forum. I recently purchased a TomTom ONE 130-S refurbished and was told at the store that the I needed to connect to TomTom's website to update to the latest map. TomTom's map upgrade prices of US$9.95 per quarter seemed reasonable so I got home ready to update my map and buy a one year update. To my surprise TomTom indicated my ONE's map was 5 quarters old and I needed to pay a total of $80 to update it and receive the next 4 qtr updates! Had I know that I would have purchased a new unit for less than the refurbished, map actualization and upgrade!

Thus being really tick off at TT, I have come to this board to see how I can update my 715.1728 maps on my One version 8.010. I am good with electronics, and build my own PCs and even did some programming a few years back.

I have spent over 3 hours reading this post, and am up to page 333. There is a ton of information here, but unfortunately, I have not been able to find simple, step by step instructions to follow to update a PNA.

I have made a backup of my TT ONE by copying all the files on the TT ONE to a folder on my PC using Windows Explorer.

I have downloaded map files version 830.2322 and after problems extracting the files with 7-Zip, downloaded WinZip and was able to unzip/extract them to my hard drive.

I have read that I need a new CAB file, but in looking at my TT internal memory (1G - small) could not find such file.

I am not certain what is the NAVCORE, is that the CAB? Do I need a new one? Can I use the existing program in the ONE and just update the maps? I see there is a tool to "unlock" the maps?

Has someone created an easy to follow set of instructions I can use to upgrade my ONE? I apologize upfront, being new I am not familiar with the process and after all the reading still do not have a clear set of instructions to follow. I am trying to learn and would appreciate your guidance. If someone already has the step by step instruction, please point me to them.

If there aren't any yet and someone helps me, I will be happy to write instructions to help others like me.

Thanks in advance for your help!!! Loved spending the last few hours reading all your comments, I am looking forward to hearing from some of you.

Use TTHome to remove the unwanted computer voices.
Then install manually the desired ones starting from their cabs published in post #537 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=3903078&postcount=537).
Extract the cab(s) INSIDE folder LoquendoTTS.

Thanks to everyone for all their postings with so much information. As a new user, I have been overwhelmed by the huge amount of information gathered in this forum. I am attempting to update my little TomTom ONE 130-S and before I mess it up I have compiled the following set of instructions, which I am posting for your review. I will attempt the update once I have feedback with a green light from you guys (thanks in advance for your support, sorry if I am being overly cautious in my effort).

• My GPS Information:
TomTom ONE 130-S (refurbished)
Software Version 8.010
Map Version 725.2223
Internal Memory Capacity 1 Gig
(since the ONE only has 3Mb free, do I need to erase all the files (format the RAM) before I proceed with the upgrades? More comments about the GPS RAM memory on Step 8 below.)

• My PC
MSI Wind Netbook, 2 Gig RAM, 500 Gig Drive
OS: Windows 7 RC

Sumamry of steps I have created from reading your threads…
Step 1: Backup GPS
Step 2: Locate Maps
Step 3: Locate LoquendoTTS file
Step 4: Get CAB file
Step 5: Get the latest DSA file
Step 6: Get the latest EASYTOUSE tools
Step 7: Connect GPS to PC
Step 8: Run DSA.EXE
Step 9: Write new maps to ONE
Step 10: Disconnect ONE and reboot – ready to use?

Step 1: Backup GPS
Connect GPS to PC and make a backup of the internal memory. I used Windows Explorer to highlight all the items from the root folder down and copy them to a new folder on my local drive. I did not use the TomTom Home Backup option. Should I?

Step 2: Locate Maps
Search for recent maps, in my case I am looking for USA & Canada maps. I located USA & Canada Maps version 830.2223, which may not be the latest but certainly newer than my 725.2223. The files were zipped (8 files total, *.zip and *.z01 to *.z07). When I clicked the file with the ZIP extension, Windows 7 showed all the contents, but when I tried to copy (drag) them to a new folder, I got an error message saying the files could not be installed in the same volume. I pulled muy external passport drive and tried to extract there but it kept asking me to insert disk 1. I then tried to extract with 7-Zip, but kept getting errors. I then downloaded WinZip 12.1 and was succesful in extracting the files. I saved them to a top level folder on my c: drive, c:\TomTomMap830.

Step 3: Locate LoquendoTTS file
(Are these the speech files themselves or the engine that does the actual text to speech? )
Find and download the LoquendoTTS.zip package and unzip it. I extracted the files to a top level folder on my c: drive, c:\LoquendoTTS. Here I have a question, do I need to copy/overwrite the files to the existing LoquendoTTS folder on device? Or do I leave them in the root folder where I put them?

Step 4: Get CAB file
Get the latest NC v8.370 TT CAB, download it to a top level folder on your PC.
Question, where is the CAB on the ONE? Do I need to do anything with it?

Step 5: Get the latest DSA file
Get package dsa-all.01August09.zip and extract dsa-win.zip to the Desktop; then send dsa.exe (make link) to the Desktop too.

Step 6: Get the latest EASYTOUSE tools
Get package Easyusetools, extract it to the Desktop.

Step 7: Connect GPS to PC
GPS will ask if you want to connect device to computer, say YES.

Step 8: Run DSA.EXE
With GPS connected to PC, run dsa.exe. Select the Install box, open the TT CAB with the leftmost open button (question, which CAB file, the one in the PC I downloaded or the one on the TT? I think it will be the downloaded one but better double check with you guys rather than be sorry). Once the CAB is opened with dsa.exe, click the Patch button and answer yes to install on device's drive (I assume this is the TT GPS internal memory). Once the file is patched, disconnect ONE from the PC and let it reboot.

So where am I at this point? I think after step 8, I have installed/upgraded the version 8.010 software on the GPS to the new 8.370 (true or false). If I have not formatted the GPS internal memory, it should have the original maps still. If I did not clear the RAM on the ONE before I started, will it now see the old maps?
I think the next step will write the new maps. But I am concerned, the 1Gig RAM on my ONE only has 3Mb free, will this installation overwrite the previous files? The maps I downloaded are a lot bigger than the 1Gig RAM the GPS has? Will the Easytouse tools know this and create maps that will fit on the 1Gig memory on the ONE?

Step 9: Write new maps to ONE (runmeforallautomatic.cmd)
Reconect ONE to PC (will it see the old maps?) and let it start up (choose connect to computer – YES). Run command RunMeforAllAutomatic(.cmd) from within folder Easyusetools..., select option 1.

Step 10: Disconnect ONE and reboot – ready to use?
If everything went right, the ONE should now be upgraded and your maps are all patched, but are they installed or do I need to run TomTom Home and install them? Or am I ready to disconnect the ONE, restart it and start using it?

One more thing, where do I enter my unit ID?

Once more, thanks for your patience in my effort to understand the process. My gratitude for all your help!

Amazing!
Your /dev/ttySAC1 hint helped a lot too!

NOW, given the fact that the NC and kernel are backward compatible in intention, let's see whether we could minimize the "classic" patching to just 3 or 6 lines of code.

Save your working ttsystem.

As soon as we determine the proper patching, it will be included in ALL past/future NCs.

Test this one please, with the v8.370 setting:

http://www.2shared.com/file/7144796/621feb62/ttsystem8370-classic.html

Replace the ttsystem as usually. Start-up. Whether it works (or not), zip the newly created top folder named "barcelona" on your storage and post it (at 2hared.com) for me to have it.

I also need this info from you: only the first 2 chars of your device serial, found in file ttgo(.bif) on line starting with DeviceSerialNumber=
It will help me to identify the classic class of devices.

You need 24MB of free contiguous space in your storage if total memory is 32MB, or 48MB of free swap space if total memory is 64MB. Then, some patience until the first creation of swap file is done. Future boosts are swifter.

OK, I am going to release the new dsa-all.zip soon, with parameter gpsephemeris forced to 1.
Usually, this parameter is correctly determined by software, but in the "classic" device case it is not...
Forcing it to value 1 won't affect the other devices, which all have it set to one. Or so I can guess looking at the ttsystem/init code.

Thanks to everyone for all their postings with so much information.

1) You shouldn't use TTHome for backup.

2) Winzip, a required tool; the top level map folder is usually named USA_and_Canada_830_*; total size of map matters as compared to total available storage.

3) Usually an existing on device LoquendoTTS folder is outdated; you should erase it first and then replace it with the one extracted from LoquendoTTS.zip (which is also patched, comes with two computer voices, Susan and Dave). Later on, you can remove the unwanted computer voices with TTHome and add new computer voices manually: extract the voice cabs from post #537 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=3903078&postcount=537) to the INSIDE of folder LoquendoTTS.

4) The original TT cabs should be downloaded only to the PC (Desktop). They are publicly available from tomtom.com. Finding their names is a matter of searching the forums.

5) Now dsa-all.12August09.zip is available. You need the unzipped dsa-win folder on Desktop and a link to dsa.exe on the Desktop - or any other convenient place. Just keep dsa-win unzipped somewhere conveniently.

8) There is no CAB on the TT, only on the PC. Subsequently, the PC TT CAB gets extracted to the TT.

Yes, after this step, the NC upgrade is done and the existing maps would be recognized too. Since you are so space strapped, remove the old map first (save it on PC), so that the upgrade will have enough space.

Do the start-up, and even if there is no map available, reconnect to PC.

9) Put the new map on device - in the top level folder, all parts extracted there.
Only afterward run Easyusetools...\RunmeforallAutomatic, option 1, with device connected to PC.

10) Start using it directly, after disconnect.

You may also try v8.417 out, it is as new as v8.370 and it has the "operate my GO" TTHome software available, while v8.370 does not.
However, pick-up the ASR folder from the v8.370 cab and put it on top of your device, because the v8.417 cab comes without it.

Patching the TTHome "operate my Go" software is also required to play with TTHome.
You can do it with dsa.exe, but use the middle map-patch open button to open a dll file, then click the same big Patch button.
The location of the v8.417 dll file, for Windows 7 is:

C:\Users\<your-user-name>\AppData\Roaming\TomTom\HOME\Profiles\<something>.default\extensions\Navcore.8.417.1255@tomtom.com\ 8-417-1255-1.dll

Let TTHome first download the software, then leave TTHome, patch the file, and restart TTHome.

The device ID is automatically recognized by Easyusetools if device is connected to PC and if at least one start-up has happened after the upgrade - in other words, a file named ttgo(.bif) has been created at step (8), file which has the info inside.

dsa.exe is also able to detect the device drive letter based on the existence of the same ttgo(.bif) file on device.

dsa8310... A huge thanks for your help! I am printing and reading before I start messing with it as soon as I get home.

dsa8310... A huge thanks for your help! I am printing and reading before I start messing with it as soon as I get home.

One question, the map containing the folder is bigger than the memory in the device, how do I go about copying the maps to the device? I think I am missing something?

Again... WOW! I am really grateful!!!

There are posts with all available maps, search the forum, jmermel is posting them on a regular basis, I think.
There are 1GB maps too.
Or, you could buy a larger SD card, if the device has an SD unit.

By checking the Easyusetools...\Progs\Meta.txt file, I could see this one:

USA_and_Mexico_1GB_825_2159

Ideally, look for a v830 map...

Hi guys,

I bought 4GB SD card from Amazon, Should I format it before using it? I.e: Formate 1st using Windows XP FAT32 Or Just FAT then Format again under TomTom 920 also?

Can someone Please point me to right direction for getting my Maps/Nav core Updated...Guide perhaps?

Latest EasyUseTools (http://www.ipmart-forum.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=516956&d=1248957040) - You can use this to patch your map or if you search this thread then you should be able to find a all in one tool (You will also need patched ttsystem file for you Navcore)

With the map that you have downloaded, it includes the Advanced Lane Guidance and the IQ Routes, but you will need a fairly new version Navcore on your 920, if you have this then you should get the ALG.

Well I am going over all the instructions and cannot find a LoquendoTTS folder on my TomTom ONE 130-S. I did find a folder called VocalizerTTS which contains 2 folders, common and enu. It also has ogg files for Samantha and Tom as well as hdr files for each of the voices.

So what should I do? Does the LoquendoTTS file (which I need to find still) replace the VocalizerTTS folder on the ONE?

Thanks!

Well I assume my ONE is an older model and version 8.010 did not use LoquendoTTS but VocalizerTTS. I removed vocalizer and copied the downloaded LoquendoTTS and copied to the ONE root.

Now I am running dsa installing NC8.414, it took about 45 minutes to extract the core and now its unzipping the navcore 8.414.

Its almost 1am now, and last night I played till 3:30am so I am not going to be able to stay up much longer. Lets see what happens in the next 30 minutes.

Well it finished. I used dsa to patch the dll. closed dsa and disconnected TT from PC. I turned the TomTom off, and rebooted but its stuck on the TomTom ONE startup screen (the one with the car dashboard with blurry city lines). It hangs in there and does not go anywhere.

suggestions?

rafacq ... DSA's patches & fixes are great, but I had the same problem with DSA's 8413 on a TT One v3. I then used SE version of 8413 which worked.
Try to find the SE version of 8413 to install, someone on here must have an active link for you to download from.

Can anyone provide a link to this navcore? I have tried searching and no luck!

I also tried to search for a link to 8.370 but could not find a link to download either.

If these navcores are at the TT website, how come one can only navigate to a direct file, instead of being able to search for them.

My One 130-S from March 2008 is shut down, any help figuring how to revive it (besides restoring my original backup) will be appreciated.

TT Home wanted to install 8.010, the original NC. Starting another dsa run with 8.414 for ONE w/TTS, going to bed, will see the results in the morning!

One question, do I have to update 8.010 to run the 830.2322 maps? Can't I just leave the original 8.010 in the ONE and run easytools to patch the maps?

Thanks in advance!

Use TTHome to remove the unwanted computer voices.
Then install manually the desired ones starting from their cabs published in post #537 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=3903078&postcount=537).
Extract the cab(s) INSIDE folder LoquendoTTS.

I took a TomTom ONE XL from someone. When I first started the device it says there is no SD card inside. I took the SD card and inserted into my card reader -> it says isn't formatted. I formatted the card, reinsert into my device, installed Home and make all updates. All good but now I don't have any maps installed. In the package I found a plastic card with a code for Iberia map but I can't even download the map from TomTom.

Questions:
1. How can I find what TomTom version do I have on my device (I don't have any map installed) ?
2. Is it possible to install other firmware on my device ?
3. Where the **** can I find the Iberia map for my device ?

45 minutes?! Something is wrong with your PC settings...

Get dsa-all.12August09.zip from post #5316 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4743119&postcount=5316). Extract dsa-win.zip. Then extract dsa-win to the Desktop. Make the dsa.exe link (send it to the Desktop).

There is known that certain ONE devices need a so called light/lite emulation instead of the default x40 one.
So, if x40 does not work, then select L34, L35 or L36 instead, at dsa.exe generation time. Most likely L34.
Now, there is a small difficulty here: for reasons of backward compatibility with the pre-live NCs, the default emulation of a device is x30. Since you say that your device hangs, you need to setup the emulation manually. I would assume that you are not a Linux user, so get the required top level file, named "reskin", from this link:

http://www.2shared.com/file/7154655/6b01b653/reskin.html

Next time, when you start-up, the emulation will be x40 - which stands for the actual L34 selected at generation time. Complicated...

I would install v8.417, with the L34 selection.
However, unless you have your PC sorted out, there will be no guarantee that things really worked well.
45 minutes is absurd... Nobody has complained of such an issue yet. I would run dsa.exe on a Windows XP machine in the mean time, your Windows 7 could be the culprit... (though dsa.exe has been tested under Windows 7, successfully).

If you downloaded, installed & activated TomTom Speed cameras, then these will NOT be shown as POI's.
To see if the installed cameras work & give an screen icon & sound warning, just do a short route & test it out via the example route screen.
There are other Speed Cameras for TomTom which are POI's and do not need activation, but you have to manually configure them to show / warn, but those are not the proper TomTom ones.

If u used dsa then, there is no need to patch anything after that.

Copy the map to the SD or to your TT. Run easytools in RunMeforAllAutomatic

No, it is something wrong with Windows 7...
I tested it under my Windows 7 (Ultimate), at home, and it worked very well.

Other than that, I cannot help.
However, you may use a Windows XP. If you wouldn't have the unit at hand, you could Patch without Install and collect the generated package(s), namely dsa_navcore.8417.zip and dsa_navcore.8417-L34.zip ; they will be next to the source cab (same directory). At home, you could put the dsa_navcore.* packages next to the source cabs and execute dsa.exe with Install. The package generation will be skipped and hopefully the Install phase would work under Windows 7.

Try first the x40 package (the one called dsa_navcore.8417.zip, no L34 appended); if it wouldn't work, try the lite one, with L34 in its name.

You could also do the installation by hand, as follows:
- extract the source cabinet with overwrite all on device.
- unzip dsa_navcore.8417.zip over the top of device, BUT do NOT overwrite files named data_*.chk (these are the so called skin files, and the cab ones are better then those included with dsa_navcore); or overwrite all and then drag the data_*.chk files from the source cab to your device at the end.

I would really appreciate feedback from Windows 7 users of dsa.exe - even if it be just for testing :), especially those who did not install Cygwin on their machine.
I mean, simply check a Patch command over a source TT cab with dsa.exe.

I did test dsa.exe under my Windows 7, and I thought I had eliminated all issues (like bad ttsystem), mainly related to the "gunzip" command - which I replaced with "gzip -d".

The most current dsa.exe is in post #5316 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4743119&postcount=5316).
Earlier dsa.exe versions (except for dsa-all.01August09.zip, which is the first one supporting Windows 7) will NOT work for sure.

Yesterday I ran dsa on navcore 3.417 and after I figured out I had to run it from inside the dsa-win folder (I had pulled the exe file to my desktop) it ran and completed without errors. Unfortunately my ONE 130-S did not boot.

I do not think its Windows 7, it worked great yesterday. Does dsa require the old navcore to be installed on the gps? Only difference I can tell is yesterday I removed the old maps so I had plenty of internal memory, today, I deleted everything on the ONE. Any comments?

After erasing EVERYTHING from your TT, dsa.exe will NOT be able to recognize the drive letter of your TT device, because it won't find the ttgo(.bif) file there.
In this case, you will have to enter the correct drive letter by hand in the box bellow the Install checkbox.
OR, you could create a fake/empty ttgo.bif file or copy at least this ttgo.bif file from your backup to the TT.

If you want a clean(from scratch) installation, put on your TT, by hand:

1) File/fake ttgo.bif
2) Folder LoquendoTTS
3) Folder ASR taken from a TT CAB that contains it (not all cabs come with folder ASR; e.g. v8.370 does have it)
4) The map(s) folder(s)

Connect to PC, run dsa.exe, disconnect/start-up, reconnect to PC.
Run Easyusetools.../RunMeforAllAutomatic, option 1; disconnect, you are done :)

If the x40 selection does not work for you, try L34 - but before put the reskin file on device, see my post with a reskin link.
If it is still not working, give up... :) and restore the backup, patch the ttsystem file with yDGpatch and all your new maps will be available, which it is not so bad after all.

TTHome will offer other items, like Phone Connection Settings, QuickGPSfix Data, Car Symbols, Map Overlays, Safety Cameras, Zip Codes, etc.
You will need the Phone Connection Settings to setup a handsfree BT connection to your phone, if BT existent.

No, I switched computers and both reported problems with the ttssystem.

I am doiing a search for yDGpatch. I do not have any voice files on the ONE yet. I am considering copying the new maps over and see if I can make it work that way!

I followed the advice gained here and was quite easily and able to update a go 910 and go 510 and a xl with the new software and maps. in return I have put together a defined guide to help others that might follow. I do not claim it will work 100% for everyone but it worked for me.

Prior warning

** Before carrying out any of the procedures below ensure you back up your tom-tom and it is stored in a safe place**

Recommended **Back up using the desktop home application

Search and download (1) dsa-win (2) 8.370 go940
How to keygen/patch new tom-tom

1. Place dsa-win folder on desktop
2. Then create a desktop shortcut for dsa.exe
3. Place 8.370 go940 (cab files) without unpacking on desktop4.
4. Plug in satnav but do not run home ensure home you exit exit on home icon in taskbar
6. With the tomtom unit connected and turned on -- run dsa.exe
7. Select the left "select cab" button this should open another window –
From here find the "8.370 go940" file you placed on the desktop earlier
8. Ensure the x40 selection is ticked
9. Tick the box "install"
10. The box below should display the drive letter assigned to your tom-tom unit by windows
(Ensure it is correct)
11. Select the patch button
12. This should open a cmd window and start the install
13. You will need to ensure the program is allowed to run by your security suite
Dependant on which one you have ( mine asked a few times to be allowed)
14. Installation should takes a few minutes to complete
15. Shut the tom-tom down and disconnect
16. Run the tomtom and you should have tomtom version 8.370 installed albeit with your original map/s
Search and download required map 1. ver 8 ***

How to keygen maps

1.search and download "Easyusetools_for Keygen_Mapcheck_Metacheck_ttsystempatcher"
Unpack to a folder you should create called Tomtom map keygen
2.Before you proceed turn on the tomtom and go to the map details page by clicking the lower right corner on the screen when in map view then click on the version number a new screen should open which will reveal the device id number ( amongst other things) or reconnect the tomtom and search for the "ttgo.bif" file-- open with notepad and locate the uniquedeviceID you will need this later
3.Next copy the .meta file and .pna file from your map folder into the folder that says, 'insert_meta_from_map_here'. you will find this in the folder you created earlier called tomtom map keygen.
4. If running windows 7 or perhaps vista Run the 'runmeforDCT.cmd' program as compatible for xp ( any version as this will avoid program failing to run correctly) follow the instructions, using your device ID (which can also be written or pasted into the 'DeviceID.txt' file in the Tomtom map key gen folder).
5.This patch program will generate a DCT file associated with the map and ID of your tom-tom, which you will find now in the 'insert_meta_from_map_ here” folder. You need to copy that to the map folder which you will transfer to your TomTom
6. You can determine the map's version repeating step 2 above on the Tom-tom.

Thanks and great work to those who created the nescessary software

OK, then you have problems with both PCs... :)
There might be some Windows incompatible/custom settings? (at work).

ttsystem patched with yDGpatch plus the new map (patched with Easyusetools) plus the LoquendoTTS.zip package is a good solution... until you fix your PCs :)

Thanks and great work to those who created the nescessary software

Note that one could do the patching of ALL maps/camera files/voices/etc ON device with device connected to PC and running only one command, Easyusetools.../RunMeforAllAutomatic, option 1. The device ID will be automatically recognized if file ttgo(.bif) present on device and device had been started up at least once (so that the ttgo.bif file is correctly generated with the device ID included)

The map patching needs some rewriting :), the rest is not bad at all!

What is the name of this tool, I'll search in the thread for it?

2nd, I got NavCore 8.351 on my TT920 currently Isn't that already the latest of NavCores??

Thanks for the help.

I think my TomTom ONE 130-S only supports USB 1.1! I think its why it is so slow copying files to it! I am downloading maps to it, 897Mb will take 2 hours. I decided to do the map download on my MAC, I have more confidence on it than on the PCs.

TT Home updated the ONE to version 8.010. Thanks to dsa8310 I downloaded yDGpatch. I have 908Mb free on the ONE and the maps are 897Mb so they should fit. I deleted Susan from LoquendoTTS as I only need one volce and she took about 40Mb of space, so I just kept Dave.

Going out for dinner, hopefully in less than two hours I will be ready to run yDGpatch. Any last minute guidance to do the patch?

Following dsa8310 instructions, I have the ttgo.bif, Folder LoquendoTTS with DAVE files on it, no ASR folder, as it seems 8.010 does not need it, and now the maps are flowing to the ONE (10% completed).

Going to grab a bite to eat, will be back!

If it is still not working, give up... :) and restore the backup, patch the ttsystem file with yDGpatch and all your new maps will be available, which it is not so bad after all.

All I really wanted to do was to update the maps, so your suggestion is going to be my first choice.

I have downloaded yDGpatch and installed it. The maps are downloading. Barely enough room on the little ONE to hold them.

If I get the GPS working with its original navcore 8.010 and the maps , do you know what benefits I would gain by trying to upgrade to a newer navcore (8.370 or later)?

Updating my TomTom ONE 130-S, can this be done from a MAC?

The closest to a MAC tool would be dsa.zip which was built for Linux.
If you eventually recompile the two dsa/local/bin/* executables from their sources at http://www.opentom.org/Ttsystem_images under MAC (maybe it's not required?!), the dsa/dsa-cabpatch script would generate the dsa_navcore package if run as root.

For 920, you do not need the cracked one.
But if you get the cracked one, it will work in conjunction with a patched/cracked/upgraded NC - which you already have if you use the shared/patched/new maps.
If your NC is clean, then the cracked LoquendoTTS will not work.

The new downloaded map has to be patched (with Easyusetools, etc.).
Your ttsystem OR PNDNavigator file needs to be patched (with yDGpatch) to work with the patched new map.

There are ttsystem(s) that cannot be patched with yDGpatch...

I'm back and no good news. The 830.2322 map installed ok on the ONE. But when I tried to run yDGpatch, I select File ttssystem in my ONE folder (seen as drive H: ). I then press Go! and get an error, ex01, unable to complete procedure. I did run Easytools allautomated version and did not get any errors. So it seems the original navcore 8.010 does not work with maps version 830.2322.

What do you suggest next?

BTW... ONE 130-S device now boots, but when I select the map it says, you cannot use this map on this device: USA_and_Canada.

I am going to try to dsa the 8.370 navcore again. SInce I am almost out of memory, I am temporary deleting the LoquendoTTS folder. Can I run dsa w/o deleting the original 8.010 navcore?

But wait! I just thought about running yDGpath on PNDNavigator and it says APPLYING PATCH, PLEASE WAIT. I am waiting, How long should this take, I can see my HD drive light blinking... WIll it mess up because I removed the LoquendoTTS folder?

ABout a minute now into the patching.

Patching was completed to the PNDNavigator file w/o problems. Unit boots fine, maps come up fine. I only have 8Mb free, but there I have no voice. SInce I am using the original 8.010 navcore which used VocalizerTTZ, I will try to leave just one voice and see if I can load, but I think it takes more than 8Mb, I need to figure out what to remove. I am going to try to use TT Home to install "Tom". TT Home states I have 44 Mb free! Tom only requires 26Mb, lets see what happens.

Three very late nights and a ton of help from this forum! I finally got it to work! I am deeply grateful.

So this is a quick summary of what it took to upgrade my maps.

My equipment:
TomTom ONE 130-S (refurbished),
original map 7.151728
original navcore 8.010

Goal: Upgrade maps to a more current version. When I purchased my refurbished GPS at ComUSA the sales person indicated TomTom would provide the most current map free upon registering, which TomTom declined because they stated they do not provide latest map guarantee on refurbished products! This policy sucks! They wanted $40 dollars to update my map to the current version and also pay another $40 for 1 year upgrades. That would have made the unit more expensive than a brand new one!!! TomTom, that is not a way to keep happy customers!

Anyway... sorry for the complaining! Back to my upgrade. These are the steps I, a novice, would recommend. This is what worked for me.

Before you start working on your device...

1. Find new maps and store in your PC.
You will need to search through this forum and locate a map that will fit in the limited 1Gig space that the ONE has. It barely has enough room to hold maps, navigator core, and voices (the 130-S supports text to speech). Once you find the map of your choice, download the map to your PC.

I selected USA_and_Canada maps version 830.2322. This map is 800.8Mb. Once you find a map link, more than likely it will download either as a rar file or a zipped file. I use 7-Zip to extract rar files, and Winzip for zipped files. If its a zipped file, highlight the file ending in zip (remainding files will have extensions z01,z02, etc.). Right click the zip file and open with winzip. Extract to a folder in your PC. I placed all my downloads in an external drive. I am using Windows 7 and I did not want to risk having rights problem on the root of drive C; Plus having my downloads in an external drive, let me move them from PC to PC to MAC.

2. Find and download Patching tools.
Your will need to download two tools which are addressed in many posts in here. yDGPatch and Easyload tool. Download both (again I saved them in my external drive). I then extracted the compressed files to my desktop and installed them. yDGpatch has a setup file, Easytools you need to uncompress.

3. Connect device to PC.
Connect your device to your PC, if your TomTom Home opens automatically like mine does, close TomTom Home. Do not eject or turn off device. Your system will still see the device as another drive.

4. Now MAKE A BACKUP!
Had I not done this I would have been in deep dodo! I played it safe and made a backup with TomTom Home, and another with WIndows Explorer. I then copied the WIndows backup to an external drive, just to play it real safe. Now that I am done, my next step is make A NEW BACKUP!

5. Delete your old maps from the device.
Connect your ONE to your PC, with Windows Explorer open the Internal memory and locate the USA_and_Canada folder containing your maps. Delete it! (YOU DID MAKE A BACKUP right?) This will make room for your newer maps.

6. No new core for me, no LoquendoTTS .
I initially planned to update the core, at the end I did not update the core and used the original 8.010 that cam with the device. This saved me the dsa step.

Since I did not update the core, I did not need to download and install the LoquendoTTS folder. The 8.010 core uses a folder called VocalizerTTS. It is in the device. To make more room for installation, I also deleted the VocalizerTTS folder from the device. You will install later after your new maps are installed. I will tell you how.

To sum it up, no LoquendoTTS used, delete VocalizerTTS temporarily to make room on your device.

7. Copy new maps to device.
With the USA_and_Canada and Vocalizer folders deleted you should have enough space.
Copy your downloaded/extracted maps to the device. I saved mine in a folder named exactly like the original maps, USA_and_Canada.

I believe the ONE has a USB 1.1 port, so copying 800Mb or data took about 90 minutes on my system. I stored the uncompressed maps on a folder on my desktop for easy access.

8. Patching time... first yDGpatch for the navcore.
In your TomTom device there is a file called ttssytem and another called PNDNavigator. Run yDGpatch.exe and click the select file button. Brwose to the PNDNavigator file located in your TomTom. THen click the Go button. I first tried to patch the ttssystem and got an error, but PNDNavigator patched correctly in about 40 to 45 seconds.

9. Now patch the maps.
Open the folder containing the EasyTools, then open the next folder called "Easytools_for_keygen...." Inside you will see a file called RunMeforAllAutomatic. Run that CMD file. It will find your device, answer the questions and in less than a minute your maps will be patched.

To sum, yDGpatch fixes your navigator core files, EasyTools fixes your maps. Both have to be patched for them to work.

Now... EJECT YOUR DEVICE AND REBOOT, Mine started just fine, I chose my language and the various initial settings, like time format etc.

But there is one last thing, the device has no voice...

10. Reinstall TTS Voice.
I used TomTomHome to download and install a fresh Tom Voice.

These instructions may be long and sound like overkill, they are meant for novices like me who spent 3 long, long nights trying to update my GPS. If you have any questions, let me know I will try to help, just as others help me come to a succesfull ending!

Thank you guys!

I noticed Amazon has a GO 720 for $149. It is no longer showing in the TomTom site so I guess its discontinued. SOunds like a great price. Is it a good buy for the money. I have been really impressed with the ONE 130-S I bought for my daugther whos going to school. Does anyone know if it has a power mount? (power cord connect to base so one does not have to unplug every time you remove PND from automobile.

If you downloaded, installed & activated TomTom Speed cameras, then these will NOT be shown as POI's.
To see if the installed cameras work & give an screen icon & sound warning, just do a short route & test it out via the example route screen.
There are other Speed Cameras for TomTom which are POI's and do not need activation, but you have to manually configure them to show / warn, but those are not the proper TomTom ones.

thanks for the explanation! so I'll just hope they work. kinda strange those "invisible" safety cams by TomTom. I only got to know the POIs till now.

thx again!

Dsa:

I'm bit confused about these two points highlighted if you could clearify for me thanks.

Since I've got Offical TomTom Maps and NavCore on my TT920 i.e:

Navcore: v8.351 with Maps V7xx Officals.

My Goal:

Copy All of the Original offical items onto My 4GB SD including original LoquendoTTS folder.

2ndly, patch the ttsystem file using patcher and then easytool for cracking maps Western_and_Central_Europe_830_2305 PNA parts that I've already downloaded.

Am I correct so far?

Thanks.

Hello everybody here...
This all is new to me, so I will ask You guys for help if you have patience for me :)

I got used TomTom ONE 3th edition without any maps. I downloaded from TT HOME system version 8.010. that is on my device now.

From piratebay I downloaded some map of western europe that was named Western_Europe_1GB_815_2024... After that I copied it to the device and used ''easyusetools'' and started ''run me for all automatic''.. but after that on the device I got the message that this map cannot be used on this device..

I know that you explained this probably 1000 times but I'm all new in this and don't know a thing... I've been reading your earlier pages but am confused even more... so if you could help me... is this map ok? can somebody give me a link of a good western europe map? and instructions for a amateur like me? :D

Thanks a lot in advance... :))) Hi from Croatia :)))

Read my post #5375.

THE FOLLOWING IS A NOTE FROM MSUBEDAR AND THE CREDIT FOR IT IS RIGHTLY HIS.

ALSO NOTE
These Camera files I post up here are NOT POI's.... On most new Navcore's you cannot see them as a POI (However, on some older versions I have seen them visible as a POI), As these are original TomTom files, your tomtom NC will read them as originals after they have been patched to your device so it does not need to show them as a POI. Your TomTom will know what to do with them and automatically will add a warning beep etc which is something you can choose and change to which beep you want etc. BUT AGAIN, THESE FILES ARE NOT RECOGNIZED AS A POI. (For example if you also use SCDB Camera files or PocketGPS Camera's, you will notice that they are available as POI's so you have the normal settings available to you to change if you wish.)

Once the files have been patched to your device (.dct files created) then just put all the files in your map folder (.ver file not needed but no harm is done if you also put them in).

To check if they work: (Tip: I would just switch off any other camera files you may have in the POI section like PGPS or SCDB Camera's to avoid confusion while testing)

Create a route where you know you will be going past a Camera (To be sure, create the route so you are on the correct side of the road, in the same direction the Camera is facing) and in Route Summary, do a Demo of the Route (at 500% is fine) and if the camera shows up whilst its on the Demo and it beeps then you know everything is working.

HOPE THIS HELPS

Comments about a little TomTom ONE 130-S...

I have been a Garmin user for a few years, starting with my still working iQue 3600 and most latest a nuvi 765T, which I really like and am very satisfied with.

I recently purchased a refurbished TomTom ONE 130-S for my daughter to go to school. I AM REALLY IMPRESSED!

I have played with both units on my car and can say this little 3.5" unit does 80-90% of what my 765T does. Here is what is missing:

no live services (traffic, weather, gasoline, etc.)
no MP3 player
no Bluetooth
no junction view (but it does have lane guidance)
cannot store routes

But the maps and navigation are great! It has an excellent POI database, allows you to make a map correction right on the unit (like they recently upped the speed limit on the Dallas toll roads to 70MPH (from 60) and I was able to update the map on the fly! And I could share it with others, really easy to do!

It allows the user to make lots of changes, like which POIs to display, change the alert sounds right from the unit, have sound alerts when driving faster than allowed, warn you when near schools, customize the status bar on the bottom to display remaining time, remaining distance current time arrival time, speed and direction. And I do not mean one at a time, but all at the same time! I really wish my 765T could display all this features at once like the TT!

You can have it change the color of your speed to alert you are speeding. Show the map speed next to your speed, and I can keep goin and going! This little ONE has lots of options to customize! I am impressed!

I mean this thing for $59 bucks ROCKS big time!

Thanks.

The LoquendoTTS.zip is:

1) Latest when it comes to version.
2) Cracked, to be used with a patched ttsystem/PNDNavigator - it won't work with a clean ttsystem/PNDNavigator.

Since you are using a patched map, your ttsystem/PNDNavigator has to be patched, and therefore you need the LoquendoTTS.zip package.
You may remove unwanted computer voices with TTHome and install desired ones manually, from the source cabs inside the LoquendoTTS folder.

All your map parts go in a single top folder and it has to be patched with Easyusetools.
Your ttsystem/PNDNavigator has to be patched,
You need the LoquendoTTS.zip extracted over the top.

A ttsystem/PNDNavigator can be patched with yDGpatch.
Another way to patch it is to use dsa.exe which does more than that: older devices get the same look/NC as the newer ones - with some hardware limitations, and extra main menu items become available (e.g. two Skin buttons, a Restart TomTom, TomTom Tool, BT Console, Memory Boost button).

I would really appreciate feedback from Windows 7 users of dsa.exe - even if it be just for testing :), especially those who did not install Cygwin on their machine.
I mean, simply check a Patch command over a source TT cab with dsa.exe.

I did test dsa.exe under my Windows 7, and I thought I had eliminated all issues (like bad ttsystem), mainly related to the "gunzip" command - which I replaced with "gzip -d".
...
Earlier dsa.exe versions (except for dsa-all.01August09.zip, which is the first one supporting Windows 7) will NOT work for sure.

I have made a clean Windows 7 Ultimate (32bit) installation on one of my PCs and I can confirm beyond any reasonable doubt that all dsa-all/dsa-win/dsa.exe Windows 7 enabled versions (those starting with dsa-all.01August09.zip) work flawlessly under any Windows flavor.

Latest dsa-win.zip is in post #5355 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4746454&postcount=5355).

Thanks sooo much :)))

I just download yDG patch and patched ttysytem and now it's working like crazy... :D
Now first make a back up, and than go have fun with voices and other cool things :))

Now that you know how to patch the NC and the maps, you may try to upgrade your NC to version v8.417.
Use the source cab http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/8.417.xl2009_live_2048_tts.CAB-navcore-XL_LIVE.cab and dsa-all/dsa-win/dsa.exe from post #5355 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4746454&postcount=5355). The "x40 Skin" button gives the x40 emulation looks/partial functionality.

If unhappy with the result, restore your backup.

pojam,

Make sure you backup the TomTom ONE! Remember, it only has 1Gig internal memory. If your ONE is near capacity, be careful. I do not know how big the newer core 8.417 is. If it's smaller than the original 8.010, then that is good! But if it is bigger, and like me, where my ONE only has less than .5Mb free, I do not think I am even going to try!

Also, the old 8.010 does not need the LoquendoTTS folder and voices. It works fine with the original VocalizerTTS folder. If I recall, Vocalizer TTS is smaller than the Loquendo.

Again, if your map is small, and your ONE has memory available, you are in good shape. The map for USA & Canada I use 830.2322 is about 900Mb big! It does not leave much room on the little ONE.

One other thing. dsa8310, do you know what enhancements does the new navcore 8.417 has over the old 8.010? Is it really that important to upgrade the ONE? It was not easy getting mine upgraded to the new maps (thanks to you I finally made it work)!

Thank you soo much for the informative reply. I'm reading mostly everyone's comments, including yours made notes what i need to do and have printed out the pointers in your post.

However, I think I may be still missing a download that I should get before I start the upgrade and that is "LoquendoTTS.zip package"?

Any links to obtaining that? Thanks

Oh another question guys:

Say if you had Cracked/patched maps and navcore on my SD card AND Legit items on my TomTom device when Inserting the SD card will TomTom 920 priorities the SD over Internal memory?

Or

Do you guys Empty out the Device memory then insert SD Card with non-legit stuff on it - forcing TomTom to only read SD?

Thanks in advance.

dsa8310 AND Everyone else here:

I have some Good news...Geee I'm a happy man right now, After spending Whole day starting from 8am until now 6pm I have things moving and working on my TomTom920 thanks to you and others...:)

My Current Navcore 8.351 which was Clean download via TomTom Home application has now been patched. :)

I feel as though - Things are still RAW at the moment so won't Test it on the road yet.

Things I'd like to know:

1) Can I use x40 Cab NavCore on my TT920? Using your Dsa tool package to get all kinds of goodies? Do I need 8.4xx Cab file to play around with? Url Plz?:P
2) No Voice i.e: No sound Warning/information - Need to add UK voices perhaps?
3) Need NEW Speed Camera's for UK/Western and Central Euro.
4) Need to find a way of importing my recent POI into the newly upgraded stuff on SD card.
5) TomTom Home - I have not yet patched the TTHome application since I'm at work on my Laptop that doesn't have TomTom Home 2.7xx loaded on it. Question: Can I still pull updates from TomTom Home?

In Short, I've basically played around on SD Card via USB and Maps all day.

Awaiting for your suggestions and guidance.

Thank you again.

1) Yes.
dsa.exe + source cab v8.417 (or source cab v8.351). Just make sure your SD card is mounted as a drive; you may override the "Install on" choice made by dsa.exe by editing the right drive into the text box.
Use the extra (main menu) "x40 Skin" button.

http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/8.417.xl2009_live_2048_tts.CAB-navcore-XL_LIVE.cab

http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/8.351-go940.CAB-navcore-GO.cab

Currently, I use v8.417.

3) LoquendoTTS.zip from post #2213 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4166847&postcount=2213). UK computer voices from post #537 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=3903078&postcount=537), cabs to be extracted INSIDE the top folder LoquendoTTS.

5) Yes.
Still patch TTHome with either dsa.exe/middle open button, or yDGpatch.

Read/search the thread for the other answers you are seeking for.

The easiest thing to do, I can convey to you a link to the un-map-patched PNDNavigator, to replace the one installed on device by dsa.exe.

OR, the corresponding ttsystem, it will be with no menu extras, or extra emulations and no map-patching, but still with the mp3 player.

Though, to be sure, I would install the latest NC available which would be legit in that it will work with the clean maps.

So, what NC version are we talking about?

By the way, even the map-patched ttsystem/PNDNavigator will recognize the legit maps, so the fact that it is patched will be transparent to the clean-maps user.
I would backup and then go ahead with dsa.exe and the original or latest NC.
The SE_ttsystems can be configured down thoroughly, though the map-patching will remain; as I said, transparent for the clean-maps user.

It has only the mp3 player "enforced", no menu extras, no memory savings, not even map-patched.

Tell your friend to extract first the v8.351 NC cabinet over the top of the device, namely this one:

and then to unzip ttsystem.8351-mp3.zip over the top of device.

My ONE 130S is running navcore 8.010 (original version). Anyone knows why I should try to update to a newer version like 8.417? The ONE has limited RAM and right now all I have left free is about .5 Mb, yeah, not a lot. I had a lot of trouble getting everything crammed in there and working (with the help of dsa & others in this forum).

So back to my question, what will I gain by trying to upgrade to a newer NavCore?

Thanks!

Since you mentioned it, there will be some 7 MB of implicit memory savings plus the "Memory Boost" explicit memory gain to a total of about 16 MB.
Then, you will have the on-the-fly choice between the x20, x30 and x40 emulation Skins.
If the device had a microphone, you could have the ASR (speech recognition - verbal commands) with the main screen mic icon/button.

In general, you'd benefit from whatever TT upgraded in its latest NC versions.

The memory improvement alone sounds like its worth it. It's going to be a matter of finding the right NC for the ONE 130S. Any suggestions?

I have the Go 910 and am running NC 8.413 and C&E map v830.2305, but have noticed that i can only put the first half of the post code. Is this a feature, or is there a patch out? I have all the up todate cameras.
Thanks

flextest - your folder called 'zip' within TT, the files it contains are out of date. Solution - replace & update to latest set of files.

Try getting the updated postcodes from http://www.tomtom.com/updates/zipcodes/map7/wezipcodes715.zip

Just look through the last 20 pages, because I'm sure this very topic was addressed recently for someone else.
If I find it, I'll post a link.

Are yes, teh ZIP file is missing.
I copied my original over (3 years old) and now works.

My only other issue is with Homers Voice.
From post on page 350 it has told me how to it. But i can not get it to work

I have the latest .meta file with the codes for homer in metric and imperial.
put the metric files (data10.bmp .chk . vif) into the keygen\insert_meta_from_map_here
ran runmefordct and copied over the dct file into the map folder on my TT. and copied over the original foles(data10) and the data10.chk.dct file over to my LoquendoTTs folder, but it still does not work.

any ideas why it still does not work?
Thanks

The memory improvement alone sounds like its worth it. It's going to be a matter of finding the right NC for the ONE 130S. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

The skin buttons come with the dsa.exe patching; they are a way of selecting the x40/x30/x20 emulation on-the-fly.

I would start by checking out the latest NC, say v8.417. All v8 NCs are supported by dsa.exe I believe.

Beside the x40 emulation, at generation time (that is when running dsa.exe), a lite emulation can be selected (L34/L35/L36) too. Whether it would work better than the x40 one is a matter of testing. Note that the same "x40 Skin" labeled button selects the lite emulation (if so generated) or the true x40 one.

By default, for reasons of backward compatibility with the non x40 capable NCs (v8.0xx), the initial emulation is x30.

If the x30 default emulation will not work for you, you will not be able to test the lite/x40 emulation.
To override the default, install the "reskin" file, taken from post #5332 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4744774&postcount=5332), over the top of your device. Then restart, the emulation will be now x40 (or lite).
Without the reskin file, the x30 emulation is back in place.

The memory gains are more or less the same regardless of the NC.
The "Memory Boost" button will get you about 16MB of free memory independently of the NC; devices with 64MB of total memory will get about 32MB freed.

ALL Homer files go in your voice folder.

As i said, i have got the latest meta file and placed that in programes and on TT under maps.
I have the four data110 files under my LoquendoTTS file and have the dir structure
E:\loquendoTTS\homer simpson genuine\meters with the four files in as well.
But i still cant see the voice under voices.
Do i need to put the meta code anywhere else apart from the map file once hacked?

Thanks
Paul

This worked for me so its worth a try, When I installed my new 835 map on from my 830 map i stuck in my mapsettings.cfg file before loading the map and found that when i switched maps it kept rebooting, so i deleted it and booted the map up to let it create its own mapsettings.cfg file then placed my old file back in and it worked for me. I tried this on my 520 and it worked but it didn't work on my bro's 300 but its worth a try.

Thanks Mo, but no help for me. I tried that before asking help from here. Same result...neverending reboot. My friends in one finnish forum said, that their mapsettings.cfg (they have legal maps) didn't wiped out when changing to this new map. This did happen before but not anymore, so it is a new feature.

Once plugged via USB cable to PC Windows shows Two drive letters but then I click on them it says to Format the Internal Memory.

My concern is, If I go ahead with Format32 I'll Loose the TT720 file directory structure of TomTom Since I don't have any back up. Which brings me to anther Question: On the internet is there .iso Image of Basic 520, 720, 920 etc

My concern is, If I go ahead with Format32 I'll Loose the TT720 file directory structure of TomTom Since I don't have any back up. Which brings me to anther Question: On the internet is there .iso Image of Basic 520, 720, 920 etc

Help thanks

Go ahead, format all drives (internal, SD), you won't loose anything.
If there is no other hardware issue, you will be able to install NC v8.370 from scratch - with dsa.exe. Just extract the good LoquendoTTS.zip package (look for it, it's published by me) over the top of disk first.
Recipes on how to use dsa.exe are also published here.
Let me know how it went.

Run TT Home "Operate my device" and add a favorite. Shut down your device, disconnect & reboot.

Hi, just had to rebuild my PC and lost all my program config.

Just downloaded the new Western and Central Europe 835_2419 maps and went to run the runmefordct.cmd (from easytools) and getting an error...

key seems to be OK

### run key keygen ###

'tt8_keygen.exe' is not recognised as an internal or external command, etc.

keygen says map not supported.

I looked in the progs folder and there is no file as above. Where can I get the latest version as I reckon I've not been able to recreate my previous PC setup. I tried using tomtom keygen v3.1c but it says 'can't copy files to tomtom'.

Thanks

Both are down for me also - the one I managed to download was the smaller (non-2Gb) version. Anyone got a working link for the 2Gb WCE version? Thanks.

Sure, it's in post #5454 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4770707&postcount=5454)... the biggest (total size 2.1GB).

Really? That's the one I downloaded, the rar is 1.84Gb, 2.04Gb uncompressed and has a meta file inside with a name of Western_and_Central_Europe-70.meta.

I was expecting it to be the larger one - Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB-70.meta. Or am I confused? I thought the 2Gb one was larger/more detailed?

Yes, I'm probably being stupid.

I've successfully installed the V8.370 app usa the DSA method and updated my map to UK & IRE v835.2419 but have lost the ability to enter an address via voice? I've got a GO920 which previously had this function. Is their a way to enable it? the option for voice control is grey'd out in the options :(

Have you also extracted the LoquendoTTS.zip package, taken from post #2213 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4166847&postcount=2213), over the top of your storage (instead of the eventually existing LoquendoTTS folder)?
Subsequently, use TTHome to remove the unwanted computer voices and add the desired ones by extracting their cabinet sources, taken from post #537 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=3903078&postcount=537), inside the LoquendoTTS folder.

Also, use the "x40 Skin" (main) menu button to switch to the x40 emulation.

Hi All,

Ok I know this is not directly related to TimTim but I figured that people here do a fair bit of Searching and may like the following PC app.

Try out this little multi search application I slapped together.
Quite handy.

Follow the file format if you want to edit things.

Hmmm...how can I copy mapsettings.cfg from old mapfolder to the new mapfolder? I mean, I just copied it from 830 mapfolder, put it to the new 835 mapfolder. But then I hit to the endles reboot phenomenon with my device. When I deleted this copied mapsettings.cpg-file from new mapfolder...everything is back to normal. But still, it would be nice to copy all my favourites etc. and not to write them again...there are so many of them :D. If someone can help me with this, it would be nice, thanks!

Dont know if you have sorted this but this is the way i get round it everytime i have to install new maps.

I downloaded POIedit and i imported the mapsettings.cfg.

then i created a poi called favourites and just import each poi as a favourite.

takes me about 5 mins and gets all my favourites back each time.

Anyway thats how i do mine everytime.:D

I have did exactly that, used the tomtom home app to remove every voice then close the app (inc right click and close taskbar icon)

I copied the LoquendoTTS contents from #2213 over to tomtom

I extracted contents from Jane.cab file to LoquendoTTS on tomtom.

Voice works as it should, she reads aloud street names ect but I still have to address entry by voice :(

I have also checked i am using the x40 emulation skin, i have even changed to the x20 then changed back still no available option :(

It should be a computer voice enabled - Susan or Kate for English, I do not know whether your Jane is a computer voice or a human voice?!

Do you have the microphone icon on the main screen under the x40 emulation? Does it work?

Finally, is your map A(dvanced)S(peech)R(ecognition) capable?

You may also try the v8.417 NC, though I had not heard yet of an upper class go device (non One, XL) not to work with dsa.exe... (even the go classic is supported).

Use the Install option of dsa.exe with device connected to PC; you may override the drive selection by hand.
