View Full Version : TomTom v8 Firmware and Maps
Thanks dsa. Here is what it came up with... ONE (30 Series) TTS / 125S / 130S 1GB
Now I need to find the latest map 835.2423.
Dumb question - once all the maps and system files are patched can you still use the update option on TT HOME?

Yes. Give it a try, ignore the complaint about the "wrong" version number (kill the message window).
However v8.370 has no "operate my go" option yet, as far as I know. The latest with this feature is v8.417.

Actually, the only condition is to fit the available storage. And, the closer to the "ideal" 2419 version, the better...
I installed 835.2419 (North America) on my 740. I ran the map patcher and got my .dct file. However, it say that the map is not compatible with my device. Any ideas why? I'm sure 835.2419 is the right one for my device because it's listed as an update I can purchase for $90.
It should be a computer voice enabled - Susan or Kate for English, I do not know whether your Jane is a computer voice or a human voice?!
Do you have the microphone icon on the main screen under the x40 emulation? Does it work?
Finally, is your map A(dvanced)S(peech)R(ecognition) capable?
You may also try the v8.417 NC, though I had not heard yet of an upper class go device (non One, XL) not to work with dsa.exe... (even the go classic is supported).
Use the Install option of dsa.exe with device connected to PC; you may override the drive selection by hand.
Yeah quick typo the cab file for the computerised voice is Kate not Jane
How do you check if the man supports ASR? I've installed UK & IRE v835.2419 which is from what i read the loaded version of the map
The Mic icon is in the settings under "voice control" but it's grey'd out
Is it possible to have the newer NC without all the crap? e.g. the console? or if i format my internal memory and let the home app install the latest NC available will i still be able to patch it?

Wait a sec, do you have the ASR folder on device?
Now, just for the record, you say that you started with this TT CAB:
http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/8.370.go940.CAB-navcore-GO.cab
and that you have applied dsa.exe, taken from post #5355 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4746454&postcount=5355) , with Install, to it?
And that you have for sure a computer voice selected, which otherwise works.
Finally, you did not confirm, is the mic icon on your main screen in x40 mode?
Before formatting, you may as well run the menu option that restores the factory settings (I cannot recall its name) which will let you reconfigure from scratch, including voice.
...
Yes, you could format and let Home update.
Then, you will still need LoquendoTTS - this time, the unpatched one. Uncracking LoquendoTTS is trivial, let me know if you found a clean one, if not I will post it.
You should (map-)patch your official ttsystem (or PNDNavigator, depending on version; if there is a PNDNavigator, patch it) with yDGpatch (search the thread for it).
The map folder is already patched, restore it.

Probably, your ttsystem is official.
To use a downloaded map, you have to patch your ttsystem too. With yDGpatch. Depending on the NC version, if file PNDNavigator is present, you will have to patch it instead of ttsystem (which will be unpatchable, anyway).
...
Is it possible to have the newer NC without all the crap? e.g. the console?
...
Once you go back to the official NC, you will loose, together with the "crap", the x40 emulation.
(The crap can be easily removed by hand, just the two Skin buttons are required for on the fly emulation change)
By the way, I was considering cutting off the crap of dsa, in the style TT hides/shows more/less menu items, I mean TT crap :).
However, I do not know how to hide/show without going through an extra device restart, so I postponed...
But hearing it called "crap", I might reconsider.

I KNOW WHAT YOUR PROBLEM WAS:
Make a file named "support_asr.dat" with one line reading "1" (no quotes, just the char "1") and place it INSIDE folder ASR !!
That is all, forget the rest, it will work...
..
I will however NOT forget the crap part and consider hiding it :)
A new version of dsa.exe will be soon released, to handle automatically the ASR\support_asr.dat issue.

Many thanks indeed, but I would really appreciate more the DLC container, made out of unpublished links, which would make them less prone to deletion.
A DLC container made out a single (or a few links, considering size) would be ideal, especially when the links reside on generous sites (like 2shared.com) and not on "overloaded" (aka money driven) sites which impose caps on the transfer speed.
By the way, do the other forums' admins really make money out of single links reserved to paying(?) customers? On behalf of TT?! :)

not really:(, this is the 2 gb version and I've already seen it around
I recently updated my TomTom using:
ISO-8859-1__TomTom_Keygen_v3.1C
And I have found that everytime I connect the Traffic Receiver, my TomTom freezes and restarts. It works fine without the receiver, but I can't use it with it connected. I have the 720T :)

Yes, it's in post #5512 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4785944&postcount=5512) (scripts dsa.zip/dsa/dsa-cabpatch and dsa-mappatch; first one has to be run as root) with syntax explained in post #4487 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4539915&postcount=4487).
CF support is intended for go 700 or a go 910 with a CF to HDD adapter + CF - like mine :)
The Windows front-end (dsa-win.zip) is superior in that it handles the on device installation too.

THE FOLLOWING IS A NOTE FROM MSUBEDAR AND THE CREDIT FOR IT IS RIGHTLY HIS.
ALSO NOTE
These Camera files I post up here are NOT POI's.... On most new Navcore's you cannot see them as a POI (However, on some older versions I have seen them visible as a POI), As these are original TomTom files, your tomtom NC will read them as originals after they have been patched to your device so it does not need to show them as a POI. Your TomTom will know what to do with them and automatically will add a warning beep etc which is something you can choose and change to which beep you want etc. BUT AGAIN, THESE FILES ARE NOT RECOGNIZED AS A POI. (For example if you also use SCDB Camera files or PocketGPS Camera's, you will notice that they are available as POI's so you have the normal settings available to you to change if you wish.)
Once the files have been patched to your device (.dct files created) then just put all the files in your map folder (.ver file not needed but no harm is done if you also put them in).
To check if they work: (Tip: I would just switch off any other camera files you may have in the POI section like PGPS or SCDB Camera's to avoid confusion while testing)
Create a route where you know you will be going past a Camera (To be sure, create the route so you are on the correct side of the road, in the same direction the Camera is facing) and in Route Summary, do a Demo of the Route (at 500% is fine) and if the camera shows up whilst its on the Demo and it beeps then you know everything is working.
HOPE THIS HELPS

I'd recommend that you update both your map(s) (to v835.2419) and your NC (to v8.370 or/and v8.417).
Things to look for: my postings :) dealing with the upgrade recipes using dsa.exe and the map patching with Easyusetools. Use the thread's advanced search button... and good luck!
(it's guaranteed that your device is fully upgradeable)
WHat is the deal with links that require very slow waits and very slow downloads? I am not paying any of those services, I am not giving my CC to any of the sites. Can someone explain the reasoning behind this? Why can't we have a direct link w/o any of the awkward and annoying mumbo jumbo. Just wondering!

I was wondering if someone would mind helping me out with a question if that is ok? I am currently running a patched NAVCORE ver 8.300 (9732/040301) OS:1000 with patched Australia map v835.2419 however, when I use TomTom Home it wants to update to 8.351. If I do I am sure I will crash my maps which already work. [FONT=Times New Roman][COLOR="White"][SIZE=3]

Things that can be done, by people with a good uploading speed:
1) Create a temporary DLC container (with JDownloader) out of the obscenely many parts (links) of a map and use it to download the map patiently, but at least automatically, without human intervention.
2) Re-rar the map folder in just a few parts, ideally just one if size not objectionable.
3) Upload the (few) parts to a place like www.2hared.com (http://www.2hared.com) which practically accepts files of any size and also does not limit the downloading rate.
4) Keep the links secret - do not publish them in clear because they become an easy target for deletion; instead make a new DLC container out of them, and publish it for the benefit of your fellow forum users.
That is what I have already "experimented" with the WCE and NA v835.2419 maps in my two posts, #5454 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4770707&postcount=5454) and #5464 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4774203&postcount=5464) respectively...

Once patched, your maps will remain patched OK regardless of the (patched) NC you have on device.
I'd suggest you upgrade to v8.417 or v8.370 with dsa.exe (the SA map will work then for sure).
Check my postings out for upgrade recipes.

Guys,
Does anyone know if it is possible to run the Navcore software in the iphone so I can run tomtom maps?
Thanks in advance.

dsa:
Thanks for the lead to jDownloader. Now I have to figure how it works.
That is what I have already "experimented" with the WCE and NA v835.2419 maps in my two posts, #5454 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4770707&postcount=5454) and #5464 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4774203&postcount=5464) respectively...
dsa,
Thanks for the tip about jdownloader. I downloaded it and installed it w/o any problems. They have a good help faq online that made the setup easy. I downloaded the dlc files from your posts and just started to download 835.2419. Its nice to be able to start a download and not have to be inconvenienced by the limitations and waits of some services, since jdownloader automates the process.
Thanks!

Sure.
Note that the fact that 2shared's downloading rate seems NOT limited but by the overall number of simultaneous accesses helps a lot...

No, you would need TT program designed for iphone, not for WM. Visit the website xsellize.com. In their appstore, they have all the latest navigation software with maps, including TT. There is also a section explaining how to jailbreak your phone and how to download the software.

dsa-all.26August09.zip/dsa-win.zip/dsa-win/dsa.exe in post #5512 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4785944&postcount=5512); unzip folder dsa-win to the Desktop and send (make link) dsa.exe from within to the Desktop too.
Connect TT to PC, run dsa.exe, select the downloaded TT CAB v8.370 with the leftmost Open button, check off the Install box (the disk choice can be overridden by hand) and click the big Patch button; answer yes to install to the TT disk.
Also, unzip folder LoquendoTTS taken from post #2213 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4166847&postcount=2213), to the top of device.
Disconnect and let device start-up now.
The map(s) should be downloaded and unrar-ed (each) into a single folder to be copied to the TT. WCE & NA v835.2419 are in my posts #5454 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4770707&postcount=5454) and #5464 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4774203&postcount=5464) respectively; use JDownloader to automatically download them. Other maps can be found with the search button, browsing the recent forum pages.
Get Easyusetools from here:
http://www.ipmart-forum.com/showpost.php?p=2086254&postcount=58
Run command Easyusetools...\RunMeforAllAutomatic(.cmd), option 1, with device connected to PC to patch all your maps.
...
NC patching with dsa.exe is an easy task: you start with the original TT cabinet file and dsa.exe installs the patched stuff to your device.
For computer voices you need the LoquendoTTS.zip package (post #2213 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4166847&postcount=2213)) (other computer voices are in post #537 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=3903078&postcount=537), the cabs should be extracted INSIDE folder LoquendoTTS).
For ASR (Advanced Speech Recognition) you need the ASR folder taken from a TT CAB that has it (e.g. v8.370 has it, while v8.417 does not, so you take it from v8.370's cab).
Finding the TT CABs should be easy in principle, since they are downloaded from the same area of TT's official website. However, their names are not published, so they are looked for with Google, in pages of our forum or peer forums.
Note that extra menu items will be added to your TT by dsa.exe. Among them two Skin buttons that let you switch emulation on the fly (best would be x40), a Restart, Tool, BT Console and a memory Boost button.

I want to take patching as a step by step process.
For now I only want to add the newer maps and leave everything else untouched.
I'm trying al this from linux. I figured all have to do is
- cabextract the 8.370 cab file
- ttimgextract ttsystem
- unpack the ttsystem.1 file with gzip and cpio
- run dsa-mappatch ageinst the bin/ttn file
- rebuild the ttsystem.1 file with the patched ttn file (using cpio and gzip again)
- mkttimage to recreate ttsystem
- copy the new ttsystem file to the tomtom device
And of coarse copy the new map files to the system!
My tomtom device starts up fine with the new ttsytem, but when I select the new map it stil says this map is not for my system...
So what else do I need to do, and can I do this on my linux system?

With Easyusetools...\RunMeforAllAutomatic, option 1, with TT connected to PC.
Under Windows.
You may do the (simple) map-patching of the ttsystem (or PNDNavigator, if part of the cabinet) with yDGpatch, again under Windows.

any one have ''tunisia'' map for tomtom... please
At present TomTom only supports South Africa, not North.
Link to dsa-all.5September09.zip:
http://www.2shared.com/file/7602749/8ae0411a/dsa-all5September09.html
New: a check box labeled MB (Memory Boost), initially unchecked, which makes the memory boost support - aka swapping support in the kernel :) - optional. However, the Memory Boost button remains, but ineffective without swapping support.
dsa.zip (the Linux version) has been upgraded too, it does the optional installation on a path specified by user.
Syntax: dsa/dsa-cabpatch <TT CAB> [<lite #>] [cfs] [mbs] [<installation path>]
where <lite #> could be 34, 35, 36, 16, 13; cfs means CF support; mbs means MB support (<TT CAB> is mandatory, params are positional).
It appears that TT has decided to NOT release its modified Linux kernel sources anymore.
By checking off the MB box, the included kernel will be the latest available with added swapping support, otherwise it will be the latest released by TT (as part of the NC to be patched).
If the benefit of the latest TT kernel will be undetectable and the Memory Boost feature deemed useful, one may as well enable it. I know I will :)

hi guys,
where can I download tomtom v8 for nokia n96?
thanks
You can only get TomTom 6 for N96 and the maps are very old, 2007 is the latest. You will also need an external gps reciever as it does not use internal one.
The latest TomTom software is for Windows phones only and Nokia use Symbian.

Hey guys
I updated my maps in July via help from this forum and over the weekend only just had the chance to test them out properly. I have come across a bit of a problem. The lane direction does not work. Is this a downside to cracked maps or is there a away to get round it?
Thanks :)

The navcore is the version of tomtom software on your machine.
anyway the reason ALG doesnt work is that your map does not support it.
you need 830.2305 version of your map.

Get JDownloader from http://jdownloader.org/ ; java is required to be installed, but they provide a link to it on the downloading page.
Using the DLC container is quite convenient without human intervention; the maps are unrared too each in a single folder.
Given that you have a 940 device, you will only need to patch the new maps (your ttsystem is already patched, it worked with the old cracked maps).
Put the new map folders on your device (discard/backup the old ones).
Get Easyusetools from post #5557 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4812463&postcount=5557) and follow the map-patching recipe there.

There is not a USA/Canada 835.2419 map. There is a North America 835.2419. It is a full feature/detail map. USA/Canada is a basic map for devices with small internal memories.

You are almost done, just click on first/any part and extract it to the Desktop, all parts will be included in a folder named North_America_835_2419 .
Copy it to the TT and run command Easyusetools...\Runmeforallautomatic(.cmd) with TT connected to PC, option 1.

Hi
my question is this; I see the tomtom maps are updated almost quarterly, but are all the higher numbered versions an update or just the same map as a previous version but for a different type of tomtom i.e go series as opposed to the xl etc.
I normally just stick to the maps offering ALG as I find this quite useful when driving around places like London.
Thanks in advance

You need it, because that is what will fit on your memory, unless you use a SD Card.

Hi,
I was wondering if someone knowledgeable on this site could help me with a question.
I currently have a TomTom XL with 835.2419 UK maps & 8.412.1236 Navcore. This includes IQ Routes and ALG.
I am now thinking of purchasing a TomTom Go (one of the higher models). My question is will I actually get anything different (in terms of features) if I buy a TomTom Go?
From the research that I have done it seems my XL can do everything a Go can do... Apart from traffic & petrol updates I cannot see why the Go would benefit me.
Can anyone help and/or advise?
Thanks! :)

In general, the GOs have the Jukebox/line out/ and the BT/hands free/ capabilities while the x40 devices have the Live/GPRS services (which could be implemented via BT too, TT willing).
Check TT's website for details/support.

I do not have a first hand experience with One devices, but I would suggest that you also try the lite L34/35/36 mode instead of x40 (with dsa.exe), eventually upgrade to v8.370 or v8.417.
If it was a lack of memory issue, you may also try the "Memory Boost" button (but also check off the MB box at installation/patching time, otherwise it will be ineffective), though I cannot be sure of anything when it comes to One/XL devs.

I have a quick question I'm hoping someone can answer ... I have a TomTom One Version 3, which I have upgraded with the USA/Canada maps. However, I'm looking to upgrade the maps to the NA 835.2419 maps with the lane guidance and all those goodies. The question I have relates to TomTom's website, which shows that my One only supports a 1GB SD card. Is this due to the Navcore that was loaded with it originally? I've updated to a version 8 Navcore. Will I be able to use a 2GB/3GB SD card with my One, or will I still be limited to the 1GB? I really want to use the 2GB NA maps if possible.
edit: And how about SDHC cards? Anyone think I could run one of those with this?
Thank you in advance for your help! This forum has been great with advice!

My XL at the moment has the jukebox and BT (there are icons for them on my device but I never use them anyway). My XL is also a x40 device so from your reply it would seem I would be wasting my money if I bought a Go.
I always had a feeling there wasn't much difference between the two.
Thanks for the advice!

Okay ... got the maps installed on my SD card, but here is the problem. I'm trying to get the LoquendoTTS sounds to work. I don't care about ASR. When I have the ASR files installed on my One, it runs slow as hell. Solution - delete the ASR files. Problem. Once I delete the ASR directory, my One stops playing any voices. Any ideas? I've messed around for the past three hours and can't figure it out.

You could keep the ASR directory (with its 20MB of content) and only remove/backup the ASR/support_asr.dat file (or change its content to read 0 instead of 1). See what happens then.

Well, I think it has something to do with the LoquendoTTS files. I can get VocalizerTTS to work, just not the LoquendoTTS. Oh well. I have lane guidance, which is what I was going for. I will keep tinkering with the LoquendoTTS files later on today.

When I get home that is the first thing I will try. I read on another forum that certain versions of the One cannot use the LoquendoTTS voices due to lack of memory.

Oh yes, most of the time I use an in car power adapter. But I'm trying to use a different one from the one tomtom supplies. I have one of these real 12V to usb adapter from kensington, but when using that it seems it does not provide enough power to keep the battery charged. After a while the device shuts down with an empty battery.
I don't know how much power the tomtom 12 charger supplies, but apperantly it asks a lot of power...
Anyway, I just think the live services are way to expensive so I won't extend the service. The second reason for disabling the gprs connections is that I don't want to return a favor to tomtom to use my speed information to calculate the HD traffic status....

I think there is an internal battery connector contact problem that you have. I would send the device to TT for repair (it can be fixed with a pair of pliers, but I wouldn't do it myself if still in guarantee).
Disabling the GPRS won't alleviate the issue.
There is a file named statdata\disallowtrip.dat on your device that controls whether statistical data is to be collected from your device. Erase it (together with its containing folder statdata) and then start TTHome. You'd be asked whether you'd agree to have the stat data collected from your device; say no, and the file will be set accordingly.
For example, my disallowtrip.dat file reads "3" and I recall answering no to the TTHome question.

No, there is no contact problem. If I use the tomtom supplied 12V power connector the device charges fine. I just think the current supplied by the tomtom is higher than the kensington one. I need to find some time and tools to measure it...
I'll try the statdata later on. Thnaks

Check out the original car charger, the required amperage is printed on the label and it's 2A. Though I think that 1A might be enough (but not much less).
Also, I believe that the stat data is not collected via gprs but it is stored on device (probably in the statdata directory) and then retrieved by TTHome. Hence you could erase it prior to the TTHome run - or disable it entirely via disallowtrip.dat.

I believe you need the "ttgo(.bif)" file on either storage and also you might need to run "RunMeforAllAutomatic(.cmd)" from within folder Easyusetools...
To be sure that your Easyusetools... is up-to-date, download it anew from post #5557 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4812463&postcount=5557).

Have you entered the /Change preferences/Manage maps/Download free map corrections/ menu item on your device?
(what device do you have?)
If the above menu item does not appear on your device, consider upgrading the NC (to v8.370 or v8.417) and patching it fully, that is menu/emulation-patching too (with dsa.exe) (not just map-patching with yDGpatch).

You would have "dual" boot capabilities, with SD and without.
I do not have any experience with dual storage devices, but it might matter to TTHome.
no i havent installed navcore on the SD card its just the map.. this is the problem? If it is how do i install the navcore on the SD card?
The NA and W&CE wouldnt fit on justthe HDD so i have to split them. How can the new W&CE map was not made to fit on the HDD. If i had bought the map i would be screwed.

Just copy the internal storage content over the SD card, all but the big internal storage map folder.

All sorted now :D Thanks man! All i had to do was copy everything onto the SD card also.
One thing i did forget to ask. Do these maps have the IQ routes?

hi all,
i just brough tomtom 720(refurbished), actually this is my second tomtom.
i going to update my firmware from App. 7.221 (8572/071121) to 8.4.10, is that possible?
i got the TomTom EasyTools [28-02-2009] and TomTom (Fw 8.4.10). is that enough for flashing the firmware?
may i know, how to do it. is that just overwrite all of the from tomtom Fw to TomTom device?
i did the backup already.
Also, can anyone share the North_America_810_1907 ? Thanks so much. :Dsorry for so much question.

New: finally :) the Show/Hide Extras menu button which can hide/show all my extra menu items but the two skin buttons (and itself); unfortunately an extra reboot is required - so preferably do not use it while navigating.
If the button's image/caption looks wrong, simply click it, it will get in sync.
Note that not only my extras but also others will be hidden/shown. The behavior can be easily customized.

I'd start by reading post #5557 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4812463&postcount=5557); the latest dsa-all package is now in post #5655 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4866983&postcount=5655).
Latest NA map is in post #5464 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4774203&postcount=5464).

Make sure that you unzip dsa-win.zip to the Desktop and then click on dsa.exe from within folder Desktop\dsa-win\.
Unfortunately, I believe it is not a dsa.exe issue but a Windows setup matter that I cannot help with.

You mean v8.560?
Switch back to v8.370 for now.
Or, enable the MB option (actually an older kernel built with swapping on), see if gets better.
Thanks for this! Are you using this in your 910 and is there anything new or special?
Not quite yet...
There is a new bootloader, OK (5.5229).
At the time of the announcement I was traveling, so I merely checked the ttsystem patching out, without installing on device.
With the MB option on (that is an older kernel with swapping on) it works stably - so "stably" that it can be switched off only by removing the charger (if so configured) - but that's the way i use it by default.
With its own kernel I saw it running well only once, then I lost it somehow.
Switching back to v8.370 or v8.417 is safe.

It was inoffensive for all devices but x40s which now can use dsa with no loss of functionality.

1) Is this still the latest maps: United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_835_2419 ??
2) Is there a thread for 'Just Latest Maps'?
3) Going start upgrading this 'old TomTom One New Edition' for my Brother-inLaw I THINK it is TomTom ONE 2nd Edition I'd like to know in-terms of upgradabilty how far can I go? I.e Could I update the current Nav Core and maybe the maps to latest rls?;)
Could you give me some advice?
Thank you.
ps: May need to get hold of your latest dsa package and nav core for this.:)
Link to dsa-all.26September09.zip, revised:
http://www.2shared.com/file/8057263/81e7e4db/dsa-all26September09.html
New:
A menu item named "Suspend TomTom" which is the software counterpart of the power-off device button.
That's a workaround for NC v8.560 configured with MB on; without the MB option (which inserts a different kernel with swapping built-in), the kernel v8.560 comes with seems incompatible with my go910 (and other devices too).
As a standalone power-off button it is not bad either... (the beep heard at restart is by design - it's a quick hack that resets the sound; be aware that the rhythm may be altered, in which case simply click the lower left side of the main screen or stop/start the Jukebox).
The "Hide Extras" menu item is highly recommendable to keep the main menu uncluttered. The only items shown in its covert state are the skin, suspend and show buttons.

There are a number of issues with this v8.560 version. It seems that TT is slowly abandoning the backward compatibility with its older devices.
The Linux dsa.zip package does a better patching than the dsa-win.zip Windows one in that the PC connection is possible without resetting the device first.
I might fix it someday but not today.

I have discovered other v8.560 problems, on my go 910, like: the line out audio does not work (but it wouldn't matter for an XL device which does not have the line out in the first place - or so I believe); the RDS-TMC traffic receiver does not work; the light sensor does not work; the power-off button does not work (but I made the suspend button to circumvent it).
I seems that this is an XL tailored version of the NC.
This is the wrong approach, TT...
I am switching back to v8.370 for now.

i have a problem: i got a tomtom one (v2?) 4n00.004.2 and its got no sd and i think its got no internal memory either... i tried to copy different versions of nc to 4gb microsd (with adapter) and every time it shows that i i have to take it out, is there any way to make that tomtom work again or is it useless?
does any one have newest scandinavia maps for pda? (835.2420?)
thanks

Try to format the internal storage under Windows.
Install NC v8.370 on either the internal or/and the SD storage. Follow the recipe in post #5557 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4812463&postcount=5557), but use the latest dsa package from post #5682 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4883436&postcount=5682).

Then, is the SD storage seen by Windows when the SD is inserted in the TT device?
If yes, then format and use it as suggested earlier.
It looks to me that some go910 "essential" support in the latest v8.560 kernel has been discontinued, judging from the fact that (all) older kernels work with the v8.560 PNDNavigator (albeit with some difficulties) while the current v8.560 kernel causes my go910 to reboot in the middle of the ttn initialization sequence.
Can anyone share his/her experience with other devices than go910 and NC v8.560 patched with dsa.exe (no MB selection)?

Hi All,
Just to let you know if you have a GO510 I have tested the following on mine,
Bootloader 5.5229
Navcore 8.560.3484
UK & ROI 8.35.2419
All working so far.....
Gadget
WARNING TO GO 910 OWNERS:
It seems that it's a bad idea to change the go910's bootloader to the one that comes with NC v8.560.
To avoid it happen, after installing NC v8.560 as usually with dsa.exe, do NOT disconnect from PC before deleting/renaming file "system" from the main storage (where the installation had just been done).
Without the "system" file, the bootloader will remain unchanged - probably version 5.5120.
I did not pay attention to it - I am a software guy not a hardware one :), so now I had to go back to NC v8.370 - which works well as before.
NC v8.560 with its bootloader (5.5229) and kernel will not work at all on my go 910 (it reboots during ttn initialization).
However, downgrading the kernel to the one inserted by the MB dsa.exe option makes my go910 run, but more or less like... an XL (sound cannot be transferred from the internal speaker to the line out, the light sensor does not work, the RDS-TMC does not work, the power-off button does not work - but I have replaced it with a software menu item named "Suspend TomTom"...)
Hopefully TT will release soon a newer bootloader that will be compatible with go 910 devices.
If I knew what the bootloader format is I might try to restore the old 5.5120 bootloader by giving it a greater version number than the current 5.5229 one, but I don't know it...
So, if it's not too late, be warned...

It seems that it's a bad idea to change the go910's bootloader to the one that comes with NC v8.560.
...
After more testing, I have drawn the following conclusions:
1) Upgrading the bootloader to 5.5229 is harmless.
2) The kernel that comes with v8.560 cannot be used on (my) go 910 regardless of the bootloader version or the PNDNavigator (ttn) version.
3) Combining the v8.560 PNDNavigator with a different kernel (like the one served by the MB dsa.exe option) is possible, but very wrong, with many side effects on (my) go 910.
A by-product of my recent testings: I have learned how to downgrade the bootloader to any 5.xxxx version... I could publish the method if anyone interested. Or add it to dsa.exe.
Right now I run on (my) go 910 the NC v8.370 with bootloader 5.5120; it makes no difference, I got equal results with bootloader 5.5128 and 5.5229. Either the original kernel or the (dsa.exe) MB kernel can be used.
Something seems wrong with the thread, I cannot see the list of logged-on people?!

Main upgrade would be a New Map Update to the new 835.2419 map version.
App upgrade is optional, if 8.413 is not giving you any problems then it might be best to stick with it.

Hi,
I have a Tomtom XL IQ Routes Edition:
V8.414
GPSv1.20, Boot 5.5130
Map of france v835.2419
I have tried other v835.2419 maps, (Italy for example) but they won't work, I get the error map probleme, blah blah blah.
I tried patching the ttsystem, no joy, I tried patching the pndnavigator file as sugested by the yDGpatcher, and still no joy.
Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get the maps to work?
Kind regards

You must patch all your maps on device too, with Easyusetools.../RunMeforAllAutomatic(.cmd), option 1 (beside patching the PNDNavigator/ttsystem with yDGpatch).
See post #5557 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4812463&postcount=5557).

This map is really Europe_2GB_U_835_2451.
Link to dsa-all.1October09.zip:
http://www.2shared.com/file/8171873/19c8f55/dsa-all1October09.html
New: A BOOTLOADER section (in dsa.exe) that permits downgrading/upgrading the bootloader at will.
The BOOTLOADER's Open button selects the (bootloader) file to be patched (usually a file named "system", but all file names are accepted).
If the TT device is connected to PC and there is a valid ttgo(.bif) file on device (that contains the current bootloader version), in the box below, labeled "Ver.", a new bootloader version number (+1) will be displayed.
The new bootloader version number could be entered by user too, and it should be equal to the current version (on device) plus 1 (greater than the current version).
If the "Install" check box is selected, the newly patched bootloader will be also installed on device.
The contents of the bootloader file are kept unchanged except for the version which gets increased by one as compared to the bootloader version on device.
This way, at next start-up (when disconnected from PC) the desired bootloader file will be loaded; while its version number will be fake, its content will be right.
As usually, all three sections of dsa.exe are executed by clicking the big "Patch" button.
The Linux (dsa.zip) version is script dsa/dsa-blpatch with syntax:
$ dsa/dsa-blpatch <bl-file> <new-version> [<installation-path>]
e.g.
$ dsa/dsa-blpatch system 5.5230 /media/TOMTOM
(assuming that the bootloader version on device is no greater than 5.5229)
Note that switching bootloaders has a small side effect: each time the version on device will get bigger by one (or 0.0001). Keeping track of the real bootloader on device might become challenging after a while...
Note also that the original source bootloader file is preserved under the same name with extension ".orig" appended.

Make sure that Java is installed, its link is on JDownloader's download page, and that the right Java is in the environment, so that it is used.
Try Windows too.
Once set up it's most convenient to use, the downloading happens without user intervention, etc.

That's the spirit! :)
If you wish I could upload the sources of three executables to be compiled under MAC (one make), so that you'd have the MAC version of the dsa tools too (scripting style, like under Linux).
Link to fw.zip, for MAC aficionados:
http://www.2shared.com/file/8187274/3554572d/fw_online.html
Since I do not have a MAC at hand, above are the sources of the three platform dependent tools I use in my three Linux scripts that make the dsa.zip suite.
Simply unzip fw.zip, enter directory fw and issue the "make" command. Then collect mkblimage, mkttimage and ttimgextract and place them in directory dsa/local/bin (from dsa-all package dsa.zip) instead of the existing Linux counterparts.
In principle (after eventually installing the missing OS commands - which will be reported as so by the scripts) the three dsa/dsa-cabpatch, dsa-mappatch and dsa-blpatch scripts are ready for use.
Their syntax is somewhere in the pages of this thread :)

However, I think that the updates are out of the question via TThome now..
Any ideas how to get round that???

Ok, few more noob questions.
what can I get rid of to make enough space to fit the 1,91Gb map on my 2Gb XL?
Other than the voices, I have no idea what to scrap.
I can't seem to find a 1G version, so I have to make space..

I wouldn't clip maps.
Get a smaller map for now (that might mean indeed less features, IQ and/or ALG) and later on a bigger SD (4GB)!
There are 1G maps too (and mijamarius' map seems 1.4G, will fit probably)

New: The firmware tools have been simplified and included in source (fw.zip).
All Unix users (Mac too) could build them (with make) and replace (the existing Linux) "mkfwimage" and "ttimgextract" in directory dsa/local/bin/.
The patching scripts are dsa-cabpatch, dsa-mappatch and dsa-blpatch, all in directory dsa, and with syntax scattered in posts of this thread.

Guys:
Trying to run update my brother in-laws TomTom One 2nd Edition:
Upon installing and testing Several Navcore version's, I manage to install NavCore v8.204 (Patched) in TomTon One v2 in order to get 'UK & Ireland Maps v835.2419' to work and benfit from features such as ALG etc.
Everything has worked APART from No sound or warning. I've copied the LoquendoTTS from dsa's post then loaded that on TomTom device didn't work - No sound then Attached the TomTom One to TomTom Home app to get Latest UK Human Voices and Computer voices but Still no luck??
I'm Lost now, need your direction please.
By any chance do I need to change the Bootloader also? Current on TomTom One v2 Device I have Version 5.5128
Question: Do I need to downgrade it to "system5.5106"??
Look forward hearing from you,
Thanks.

Leave the bootloader alone.
Apply recipe in post #5557 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4812463&postcount=5557), NC v8.370. With dsa.exe from post #5734 (http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4904535&postcount=5734).
Human voices are posted somewhere, use the thread search button (advanced), you might need them.
You may also try a lite selection instead of x40 at dsa.exe run. Try L34/35/36.
On device, take care to have the x40 Skin selected (when so you see only Skin x20 and x30 on screen).
If nothing helps, then a human voice instead of LoquendoTTS. Or, VocalizerTTS! (somewhere in the thread).
Don't forget that you'll need to patch TTHome's dll too (with dsa.exe/map-patch) to execute "operate my go".
Beware that some One devices (really do not know exactly which ones) will work only with a human voice and no Jukebox.

1) I'll need to search for this "VocalizerTTS!" then. Don't know if that'll fix the problem or not. I'm really tired.
2) "TTHome dll" Hrmm Never done that before, What will that do for me? Can you explain? Do I need to get cracked dll files also since it's opened up a Browse dialog box to look for .dll file?
Thanks Dsa.

The location of the v8.370 dll file, under Windows 7 is:
C:\Users\<your-user-name>\AppData\Roaming\TomTom\HOME\Profiles\<something>.default\extensions\Navcore.8.370.336164@tomtom. com\8-370-336164-1.dll
This file is downloaded automatically by TTHome when first attempting "Operate my GO" with a new NC version.
Do set Windows to "View hidden files" because the AppData directory is hidden.
Under Windows XP, just search for the 8-370-336164-1.dll file starting with C:\
8-370-336164-1.dll is the file to be patched with dsa.exe/map-patch.
Similarly 8-417-1255-1.dll for v8.417, 8-560-348422-1.dll for v8.560, all are in the same area once downloaded (by TTHome).
Btw, you may also try NC v8.560 (the source cab is in one of my recent posts), but it won't make any difference to the sound problem, probably.

Thank you for the reply Dsa,
Back to TomTom ONE Sound issue: After getting seriously fed'up I copied the original 'Voices' folder to my current TomTom device from BackUp I did before.
Thankfuly it worked When I started.
- Now I got Another issue, Upnon connecting the TomTom device to PC ie TomTom Home it now crashes when I try to 'Operate the Go' from TTHome. I'm using v2.7 I think.
- Since I downloaded 'Navcore.8.410.1218 Patched' version already I believe I didn't need to patch the .dll file??
- So far so good, Pleased to get the Sound working Now I need to find the Latest Speed camera database and crack for TT ONE 2nd edition (2006).

If you run NC v8.410 and have the pre-patched TTHome dll - that lets you switch/select maps with "Operate my GO" - then you do not need to patch it.
With a different NC version, TTHome will download the new software to "Operate my GO" and you will have to patch the dll in order to select/switch maps on device.

So, human voice, after all?
