I have the correct meta code in the meta.txt (I suppose).
I have exactly this written in meta.txt in the "progs" folder ; Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB_815_2034
CC 93 89 28 2D 2D 95 78 D7 CA DA B9 76 6F A6 B1 Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB-22.meta
I have an other suspicion: I have NOD32 Smart Security and COMODO firewall installed. Does it affect the progress of this "easyusetools" ?
Don't really know unless you leave the meta.txt file open on notepad or something while running the software. I don't see how you're getting these issues if you're doing everything on the C drive. How about trying a different PC.

I downloaded, but it still doesnt work. :(
Just a suggestion, instead of putting it into the insert_meta_from_map folder, try creating the .meta.dct file in the folder called RunMeForAllAutomatic, it works a treat for me.

The .pna conains the following:
ID=Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB.pna
1161146069
815
build=2034
id=225369
As I can see, I have the correct map.
Yeah, I tried to do all this progress on my Tomtom device and on my pc as well. Neither worked.
I've written my device number properly in the DeviceID.txt file.
@Cozz: I have the same idea, I'll try it on an other computer today or tomorrow, and I'll tell you the results...

Just for you mate, i downloaded the same EasyTools as you are using, I copied over my Western & Central Europe 2GB Map .meta & .pna files with the correct meta notepad file, ran the same easytools from the folder insert_meta_from_Map_here and did RunMeForDCT and it created a .meta.dct perfectly with my correct Device Code so i think you are either doing something wrong, or something up with your meta notepad file or it could just be your computer.

Thank you. It was nice from you. And coul you write down here the meta code, that you are using?

Yeah, Ive got the meta.txt with this metacode, so the problem is not this. :(
Again: I copy the .meta and the .pna files in the "insert_meta_from_Map_here". Then I click "RunMeForDCT.cmd". A window panel comes up, where I choose option #1.
And again #1.
It writes: ### Run fake meta.txt check ###
Then writes: ACCES DENIED.
And closes itself.
NO .meta.dct has been created. :(
WHAT THE HELL IS THE PROBLEM? :( :( :(
But thank you again for your tryings! :)

If it is not the code then it could be the layout of the code, i think it has to be exactly like i am giving it to you, the first part on the first line which is the Map name etc then on the second line the code. If that is correct then the only other thing that i can think of is your .pna & .meta files but i doubt there will be anything wrong with them.

Is the pc that you are using - running Vista ? ... if so set up the administrator rights before running the meta dct program. Perhaps thats the problem.
No, its not vista, its XP SP3, and I have admin rights. :(

This is only a solution to the immediate problem.
@Ondodo PM your device code to msubedar.
@msubedar. Make a DCT using Ondodo's PM device code.
Upload it to http://www.2shared.com/ and PM the link to Ondodo.
@Ondodo Download and place the DCT file in your map folder. The map is now patched.

Nice. That's what this forum should be about.
update:
i installed navcore v8.204, put the new ttsystem file in the root and deleted and replaced the map that i had. not sure why...just did.
the new screen icons and colours are a lot better. and the main thing, the VR now works :) but not for long :( i read somewhere in this thread (can't remember where...i've read so many pages in the last few days...lol) that the tomtom home patch for v8.300 was the same as the v8.204 patch. so i decided to connect mt TT to tomtom home. in the updates, it told me that i needed to do a system update. stupidly i did it. i then boot up the TT and i was met with the red screen and "the map can not be used" txt.
so not being fazed by this, i found the new navcore v8.320 (posted by "tendriver" in post #902 and the patches for it in post #904) and decided to install that. as it had the tomtom home patches.
installed navcore v8.320 and installed all the patches. and my TT is now on v8.320 with v815_2003 uk maps. and yes, the VR still works. but, there is no main screen icon :( like there was on v8.204. and the only way i could opperate it from the main screen, was to enable "navigate to spoken address" in the "quick menu pref'". which is no good if you want to opperate the TT by voice like you can on v8.204.
so i have decided to revert back to v8.204 and either try and find the TT home patches or try and make myself in easyusetools.
when i fianlly get it all working agian, i will complie all the files/folders that i used and post a link to it on here. as you never know, someone els might find it usefull. sorry guys for long arse post...

thanks for that...im downloading the folder now. and it will save me making the patch. i'll let you all know how i get on.
unfortunately, that file that you suggested didn't work for me...so i done some digging around and found one that did work. the only problem i might get, is when i check for updates, it keeps on trying to make me install the "TomTom Application for Go520 / Go720 / Go920". and i have learned from today's experience, installing that, will update the navecore to v8.300 (official). i will just have to remember to deselect it when i do any updates.
i have now compiled all the files/folders that i used into one .rar folder to make life a bit easier for people who wish to install v8.204 onto their system.
you can download it from "HERE (http://rapidshare.com/files/180869344/TomTom_navcore_v8024.9718_folders.rar)".
Hi everyone!
I tried this all method on an other machine, and it worked! Only my machine doesn't "like" this easyusetool prog! :D I dont know what to say...
Some info about my machine: MSI K8N SLI (nForce4 SLI chipset), 2x 512MB GEIL ram, AMD Athlon xp 3200+ (venice core), Asus 6600 GT...etc. but I dont think so that the problem is my hardware. And I thought that I'm the stupid... :D
I'm using Windows XP SP3, and my suspicion is: I'm using NOD32 Smart Security and COMODO firewall. Although I switched them off, it didnt solve the problem, so I still cant use this easyusetool to create a ".meta.dct" on my PC!
I dont want you to solve the problem, of course, I just wanted to tell you this strange thing.
Thanks to ALL, who tried to solve my problem. (but it seems that my pc/op system/security program is the wrong)

I have 2 puter voices on mine, it never tries to add more. The "outsourced.bin" folder is only needed in devices with small internal memory. You shouldn't have it in your 920. Also go to the extensions folder where you put the 8.204@tomtom.com (8.204@tomtom.com) folder and delete the older @tomtom.com folders. Sorry I didn't catch you before you tried Nav 8.320. Since I posted the links to it, I have learned that it is a "working" version & is not even in distribution yet.

Install the 3 other voices, then on page 2 of TTHOME, Remove Items, Items on Device, Voices, remove any voices that you don't plan on using. They will still be on your puter, so TTHome shouldn't try to install them again.

I upgraded my 520 from NC 8.300 then to 8.320 and then to 8.204 and everytime i go to update my TomTom there it always asks me to Install NC 8.300 and a few voices, not much of a problem i just untick them all everytime and just download the mapshare and the quickgps updates. Would be cool if there was a fix for this though.

i've just been messing around with my new TT firmware to see whats new etc. and i've got a few minor issues.
1. just as a test, i connected my phone to the TT via bluetooth and sent myself a txt msg from the TT. the msg was sent and my phone got it instantly. but for some reason, my TT failed to recognise that i received a txt msg. is there a reason for this? i would like to get this working again? as it's one on the reasons why i got a 920.
2. i tried to check the local weather using the "tomtom weather" in TT services and it failed to connect. it just went back to the front screen. so i assumed that my TT was not logged in. so i tried to access "My TomTom account" in TT services" and every time i press the button, nothing happens. now is this some of security for us, to not connect to the tomtom network and for them to see that we have hacked and are using patches software? i can understand if it is. but if it's not, can i get it working again? i've just noticed at the bottom of the "TT services" screen, my TT username is displayed. so i should be able to log in somehow???
sorry double post for some reason???

the traffic, google, fuel prices are. but when i was on v8.300 and below, i could view the weather forecast where i was, at my destination etc. but for some reason i cant now. i've been on TT's web site to see they have upgraded the service to a paid service, but i cant fint it anywhere on there. and there is nothing in the help section...i did consider calling or email TT....but i then remembered, that my TT is now hacked...lol

Hi
Yes i am a truck driver but no i have not tried this yet as i no need for it as i just use latest maps with p.o.i for weight limits, low bridges ect.
i may get round to trying it when i get a better sat nav with bluetooth and other functions.

I'm not a truck driver either but I have tried it and also for a friend. We tried a route that he knows is suitable for a car but not for a large truck. When we selected "Car" it took us on the shortest route for a car. When we selected a truck ( he put in the dimensions) it took us the correct way ( slightly longer) for a truck of this size.
I have read on other forums comments from truck drivers who say, although it is not perfect ( it is only v1 ) it has a lot of potential and they mostly like it.
"Work" needs to be paid for.
i have now updated the navcore v8.204 folder that i made.
change log:
removed "Outsourced.bin" folder. not needed on x20+ systems.
updated readme file.
info:
The Navcore V8.204 comes in two versions and the 540-740 version is not very stable on some TomTom models so this is the better
940 version which gets rid of the errors that are in the other version of the Navcore.
thanks to tendriver and msubedar for the info. cheers :)

You had already uploaded the 940 version in your ORIGINAL upload. The old and new 8.204 are identical.
The differences in the 540/740 version is minimal in any case. I can't see why it would be unstable?
The differences are:
940
In Bin folder
mp3d 116 KB (for mp3 use)
obexftpd 342 KB
syncml 2.03 MB
In root
fm2010parameters 380 bytes (for FM use)
fmsignal 25.8 KB (for FM use)
( Do the 540/740 make use of FM?)
540/740
In Bin folder
mp3d (omitted)
obexftpd 342 KB
syncml 2.03 MB
fm2010parameters (ommited)
fmsignal (ommited)
All other files are exactly the same.
The original ttsystem files are identical in size and date created and is replaced by the cracked one by TTuser in any case.
Some devices need the outsourced files to work as they don't have enough RAM on board, the ONES e.g. and switchfiles can make a difference to the lesser devices too.

For those having difficulty with cracking a map.
NEWB here! Thanks for the information guys. I read the whole post front to back a couple of times. Turns out it was fairly simple to get the maps working.
1)Downloaded cracked navcore 8.024 - works excellent on the 920
2)Copied the navcore files to the TT
3)Downloaded a map North America 8.15
4)Unrar'd map to a folder titled (North_America)
5)Used easytools to in the manner you specified in your post.
6) Yatzee
One question - I haven't tried to use tthome to update. I have the file I'm just not sure where the Dll file goes???
Anyone have an answer. Also I have a traffic subscription (ANT) will the cracked navcore allow me to bypass that subscription? I read in here that traffic subscription is actually held in the ANT. Is that true.
Nonetheless I pretty happy thanks guys.

Does anyone have trouble with 8.024 when trying to get address using postcodes.
My TomTom one Europe 22 Freezes up when i tap postcode to find address so i have gone back to 8.010.
Also is it possible to add start up sound and shutdown sound to 8.010 as it says it is not compatible with my system but it worked with 8.024, So can i take the folders from 8.024 and add to 8.010.
Thanks

Solution is to select small keyboard and qwerty, not abcde. I had the same problem on my One v2.

The changelog gives you an idea of what is new. Maybe it would be an idea to post that here?
I have just got a 720 and things work smoothly with that but I am trying not to forget about all the hoops you need to jump through in order to get the more basic devices to use Navs (like 8.204) they were never designed to use.
Lots of people on here use these so I will try to remember that when posting.
i.e. (ONES )Outsourced folder so there is enough RAM to work. Change to small keyboard, use qwerty not ABCDE to enable navigate by postcode and map co-ordinates. Change the ttsserver in order to use VocalizerTTS, etc.

Changelog: from TTUser

I meant the entire Changelog;
04.01. 8204 rev1.4: advanced Onscreen Messages; advanced "runcheck"; fixes for not intended(irrelevant) Behavior
30.11. 8204 rev1.3.3: 1 fix; 1 new Helptext ; 1 new Feature
29.11. 8204 rev1.3: change ttsserver direct to a other, original nonetheless supplied; fix a few unimportant Issue
22.11. 8204 rev1.2: extended Outsource; Boothelpmessage disabled, switch on with viewmsg; other minor Improvements
16.11. 8204 rev1.1: revised cleaning, rm, btoff, etc. take no effect without runclean, this works now separate
11.11. new 8.204.9718, one "original", one for x20,x30,910; Cleaning now reversed, Standard disabled, because original is there no cleaning more, switch it again on with "runclean", with Outsourced.bin almost useless to run a cleaning

I don't know. That is why I asked for more info from TTUser. It appears that the change is only in the ttsystem file & switchfiles. I dropped the rev1.4 ttsystem file in my 720 and see no difference.

TTuser is never very forthcoming with explanations. :) If he has seen fit to continue development he obviously had reason. It may just be he was trying to make it work better on more devices, not just the higher end models.
The "runcheck" examines your device and verifies if things are found or missing. Could be helpful if you have overlooked something in your install so that some aspect it is not working as you expect.
30.11. 8204 rev1.3.3: 1 fix. Something wasn't right before obviously but he didn't say what.
For all the time it takes I think it's worth the effort to try it.

That depends on what you are comparing it to.
If you are using the original release of SE 8.204 from 11th Nov. '08 then the new files would be viewmsg, SDid, runcheck in SE 8.204. rev 1.4 The switchfiles are 0KB They are only a means to access the ttsystem
The ttsystem has had corresponding changes made to enable these features as well as other improvements and fixes. i.e. the rev 1.4 ttsystem is not the same as the first release either.
(See the Changelog)
There is, or was another RAR named switch_update which is necessary to use the SdkRegistry folder and the features it offers. For example I use the movepix feature which allows me to take a snapshot of my tomtom screen and move it to the inbuilt viewer for example.

You cannot crack or patch it with the keygen EasyUseTools. You need to download an already cracked Navcore.

The Easyusetools_for Keygen_Mapcheck_Metacheck_ttsystempatcher !!!!! will NOT patch the v7.903 official. REPEAT NOT!
I am running out of ways to tell you this. IT WON'T EVER WORK .
You need to download a cracked ttsystem file and put it in place of the v7.903 official one.
i.e.
1.Delete the official ttsystem file.
2. Put the CRACKED ttsystem file where the official ttsystem used to be before you deleted it.
I am sorry but if you don't understand that I give up.
Hi all,
This is my 1st post here. I hope its the right thread. With all of the info. here, I was finally able to add map 815 and Nav 8300 to my 720. I did it on a Mac with Virtual PC after many many guesses and failures. Not a Windows genius. :(
It works fine. While searching the net to get some idea if N 8.320 would have additional benefits, I came across a link explaining how to get some 740 features on a 720. I did everything they suggested and it actually worked. No patches were necessary. It was just a matter of replacing files.
One big difference is the improved appearance of the icons. ALG and IQ routing was evident but I had it already after adding map 815. The biggest difference was the number of voice commands available for VR. At least a 100. There are also additional Bluetooth and related TT services available. I don't use them so I didn't spend much time looking at them.
I want to thank everyone here for all of their work in making the many upgrades and patches available. Well again, this upgrade to 740 features did work for me. I hope others can also benefit from these directions.

Rytenuff - Thanks for the kind words. Sorry about the confusion regarding 8320 and 8.204. I was aware that I was moving to 8.204. I referenced 8.320 as this was my original search to see if moving to 8.320 was better than my original patched 8.300. I came across the "740" link as a fluke. I posted after I was successful in getting some of the "740" features. No, I did not see your post regarding the same.
TenDriver - Sorry if I referred to topics previously posted. Not sure what you mean by "no instructions". I followed the 7 steps identified by pmendu and was successful in getting the new features. I already had the patched Navcore 830.9732 and patched Map 815.2019 on the TT720. Again, I never heard of the 740 and after searching, found out that it is a newer unit. Either way I hope others can benefit from the link and potential modifications to their TTs.

What he means is, that site is aimed at people who have bought an original map. There is no provision for people who have acquired it by other means and wish to patch it for use with the 8.204 upgrade.
All of this including links to the maps, Navcores and how to use them are covered in here already.

The instructions that you reference on page 24 have been posted on this thread numerous times. Problem is, there are no instructions on your page 24 for adapting the maps, which is required to use an adapted Navcore!!!
The instructions on that thread were actually given by you tendriver to a user called coolguy82 on another forum. He calls himself pmendu on the fat wallet forum. He omitted to credit you on that forum though. Coolguy!!?? :D

I have a Transcend 4GB SD card ( not 4GB SDHC card)for tomtom one xls.
Navcore 8.010 with SE TTsystem 8.010
When the map is loaded (both cracked or original) This is not working and screen is getting hung-up. So I have to reset after removing the card.
But when I am using any 2 GB SD card or not using any card in SD card slot, tomtom is working fine with cracked or original maps.
The card is working fine in my laptop. So I donot think that the card is faulty.
For last 2 days I have done everything possible- using Clearflash tool, reformatting card and tomtom multiple times, using original navcore version etc, but totally fruitlesss.
Please note I have checked the treads in htis forum and ipmart-forum, but caanot resolve the issue till now.
DO anyone faced this and can you guide me on how to overcome this issue?
Many thanks in advance

I have read of other people having difficulty with a particular card. I don't remember any answers to it though. Most just accepted that the card didn't like their Tomtom and bought a different one. You could try formatting it with a formatter designed for SD cards. I use this one:

BTW Which bootloader have you installed. 5.5022?

With 4GB, you need FAT32 format. Also i would strongly recommend that you transfer all the internal memory files to SD card so the tomtom thinks that that is where everything is, this should treat the problem and tomtom should be able to read and write to the card?
So I would say to try and use the card with all your internal files on and removing the internal files off your tomtom, but make sure you create a backup.
Mo.
PS. I would run a CHKDSK though before transferring any files so the card will be fixed of any erros if it has any and all clean.

To cut a long story short, Buy a ******* 4GB SDHC or Kingston 4GB SDHC, because you'll have nothing but problems with this Transcend 4GB SD card (these cards are very cheap and poor quality)

That is honestly probably the best suggestion i guess rather than going through all the hassle, but then I think the TomTom One XLS will need to have the NC upgraded to a higher one than 8.010 in order for the TomTom to read SDHC?
Unless if 8.010 will read SDHC which i'm not sure it does????

I noticed the user was in India. I have no idea of the cost of these cards there and I didn't want to cheerfully suggest that he spends even more money on something which maybe costs too much for him to afford over there.
The system.file i.e. bootloader determines if the device will accept an SDHC card, which is why I asked which bootloader he had installed.

You can't simply copy the files into your tomtom, you have to patch the camera files so they can be recognized on your specific tomtom.
1) Download easytools keygen which can be found on page 1 of this thread if you have not already got it.
2) Then copy over all the camera files into the folder called "insert_meta_from_Map_here".
3) From your map folder copy over 2 files which will be called something like "Western_and_Central_Europe.pna" & "Western_and_Central_Europe-19.meta" (MAKE SURE IT IS NOT THE .meta.dct FILE!!!).
4) You will find a Notepad file called "DeviceID", in there enter your full Device ID all upper-case and with no spaces.
5) Then run the command program called "RunMeforDCT" and follow the options - (It will normally be option #1 then option #1 again but just re-check depending on which Navcore you have).
6) After that is done, from the "insert_meta_from_Map_here" folder, copy over all the camera files, NOT ANY OF YOUR MAP FILES!!!
7) Paste them into your map folder and your done!

these are the file I have in the folder

Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB-19.meta
and this file is madew by putting the meta file in the keygen

when i run the keygen with all safety cameras files and pna file it does say ok to everyfile but it also says that no meta file found....do i have to put a meta file as well or is just a useless warning?

A way of checking is, the camera near your home, create a route that goes past the speed camera and watch a Demo of the route, (You can find this option under "Route Summary") I'd play it at the highest speed, and you should see an icon when you get close to the speed camera, but create a route that is on the correct side of the road depending on which side the camera is just to be safe.
Hope this help.

You don't need the PNA or META from a map.
What you do need is
EasyUseTools
The two files VER and Ov2 for each camera (copied into) "insert_meta_from_Map_here"
A meta.txt with the meta code for the cameras in Progs folder
Your device ID
Click on the command program called "RunMeforDCT"
Select normally 1 (enter)
Select normally 1 again (enter)
Type in your Device ID (enter)
Close the "RunMeforDCT" window
Copy the VER, Ov2 and newly created DCT files from "insert_meta_from_Map_here" folder into your map.

I have put bootloader 5.5022 in the root directory. Is this the correct one?
Also can upgrade navcore to 8.2 or 8.3 navcore edition in tomtom one xls?
As per Tomtom website, latest version for one XLS is
"
Version 8.010
(TomTom GO 530/730/930, GO 520/720/920, ONE 30-Series, XL 30-Series, ONE XL, ONE 3rd edition only)
"
Also if I need to reupload bootloader, what will be the process - format SD card, use clearflush toll, then put the navcore packs? DO I need to format internal disk also and follow the same process or doing the SD card will be sufficient?
Please advice?
Thanks in advance.

@addadutta
If all you want to do is use SDHC cards then the 5.5022 bootloader will let you do that. If the file is called system5.5022 at present then you only need to rename it to system. Put it in root and boot up your xls. Make sure that the xls is fully charged as you must make sure that the first boot up is not interupted. The file will be written into the hardware and will be permanent until you change it for a higher numbered system file. i. e. you cannot go back to a lower number only up.
Changing your bootloader will not make your troublesome 4GB SD card suddenly work but it will allow you to use the more easily obtained SDHC cards.
You don't need to change your Navcore unless you want to.
Hi all,
I am new to this forum and not quite computer savvy so help someone might be able to help me.
I have recently got a TomTom XL 300 (I think) with the version 8.014 installed and UK maps.
I am going to USA for a week soon and my friend gave me a copy of a downloaded map from TPB called USA_and_Canada v.7.25.1905. I have had a read through here and downloaded EasyUseTools to try and install. However, I just get a frozen load screen and nothing happens?
Can anyone advise what I am doing wrong?
These are the steps I have taken
1. As my TomTom has limited memory I deleted the UK maps folder and copied this USA_and_Canada v.7.25.1905 folder into the TomTom device folder.
2. I copy the ttsystem from ttsystem_pro_8300 folder into my device root folder (note although it says to do this for version 8.3 and above if I just copy my existing ttsystem into the patcher and click RunMe - it says it can't find it and that it is already patched or an old version.
3. I copy the meta and pna files from the USA maps on my device into the insert_meta_from_Map_here and click Execute RunMeforAllAutomatic which does create the new .dct file onto my device
4. I then turn off the TomTom and remove from PC
When I turn it on it just stalls at the loading screen.
Any ideas as to what is wrong?

You cannot just throw any old ttsystem in your device and expect it to work.
You cannot patch your Navcore. The patching part of the EasyUseTools was for older Navcores not the later ones. You need an already cracked/patched Navcore.
Here is a link to it here.
http://www.2shared.com/file/4640119/9d7bbd3b/81014dlc.html
It is a DLC file so you will need to download and install Cryptload from here: http://cryptload.info/download/
Once downloaded, copy the ttsystem, the PNDNavigator and data.chk files into root. (Not inside any folder.) Allow them to overwrite files.
Run the EasyUseTools again using option 1 to patch the map. The downloaded files are already cracked/patched.

don't run the RunMeforAllAutomatic.cmd
run RunMeforDCT.cmd then follow the options, now run the RunMeforMETA.cmd and follow the options.
p.s. make sure your ttsystem or already patched if v8 firmware (if not use the ttsysten patcher on v7 firmware) :D
Hello again all,
After going back several days in this thread, I see that I did post information that was pretty well addressed earlier. Mea Culpa! New poster. What can you do?
Well, I have a few questions on small items. After moving "up" 'down" from 8.300 to 8.204 I noticed a few small changes. Obviously the big positive changes were the addition of the many many voice commands and the much nicer GUI. ALG seems to be present when I do some sample trips to larger cities. *Not sure about IQ routes though. There are IQ routing questions in the preferences though. Every day I put in navigate to my work site. I know what is the fastest route. I never follow TTs route and do my own. In theory should the original TT route change after on-going alternative route being used? No biggie, just asking.
Orginally, I lost my shutdown image. Initially no luck in getting it back. But after adding both a startup sound and shutdown sound, a shutdown image did reappear, but it happened to be the same as my startup image (Nittany Lion BTW). Seeing that image twice is not an issue. Just trying to understand how these changes occur and how they should work.
The biggest "little" thing is that I could never get the desired arrival sound to work. And this has been with several Navcores and different maps. No matter what I do I always end up with "You have reached your destination" I use a computer voice so I could keep the street names. Any ideas how to get a different arrival sound to work?
Also, whenever I check the Navcore I get 2 different answers. The TT reports that I am using 8.204 and the new features obviously support this. However, when I use "Home" and go to "Show items on my Device" it identifies that the Application is still 8.300. *Can this cause future problems if I attempt to download future upgrades?
One last question. I downloaded the SpeedCam RAR just posted previously in this thread. What maps are they for? Also how do I use the Keygen to make them work?
Sorry if these questions are both minor and possibly confusing, but I'm trying to get some idea how to better understand these devices. All my prior experiences with computers and their applications have been Macintosh based. Thanks in advance for your advice and feedback.

I have never come across any other arrival sound bar, "You have reached your destination." I didn't know there were alternatives. Could you point to one?
In Planning preferences try selecting Always plan shortest routes. See what TT suggests.
Name the shutdown image as, suspend. Name the shutdown sound as, suspend. i.e. link the two.
You probably have a bak file in root which has details for 8.300.
Speedcams are not specific to maps if you have the correct meta.txt codes for them.
Installation is covered only a few posts back from this. I would have thought you would have come across this, "After going back several days in this thread"?

No I meant they are not specific to maps. Obviously they will not show if you are not on roads where they are but they will be activated nevertheless.
If you have a map for only Switzerland or only GB and RoI or only Germany or only France or only Netherlands the radars or Kamerat or Autovelox or FartKameras or Safety cameras will be activated ready to show if you are on the road where they are placed.

Although ive not tried this myself it does read as pretty straight forward.
If you connect your tomtom to pc, then open tt,home and use the icons,
1# add maps, traffic
voices ect.
2# sounds
3# arrival sounds
You should see the message below..
bored with hearing "you have reached your destination" change it hear.

No matter what I do I always end up with "You have reached your destination", I use a computer voice so I could keep the street names. Any ideas how to get a different arrival sound to work?
Although ive not tried this myself it does read as pretty straight forward.
If you connect your tomtom to pc, then open tt,home and use the icons,
1# add maps, traffic
voices ect.
2# sounds
3# arrival sounds
You should see the message below..
bored with hearing "you have reached your destination" change it hear.
Hope this helps.:)
It only works with recorded voices not computer text-to-speech voices.

Ok I have Firmware version 8.010 and i tried to load map united kingdom and ireland V815.2024. I copied the new map to the device and removed the old one as there was no space. When i boot me tomtom it shows the splash screen then a screen saying "problem with map" "you cannot use this map on this device" I think i need a patched system but i cant find one anywhere. I have ran the keygens and they are fine i tried what was said earlier about running the V7 patcher but that doesnt work. any help would be great.

Hi to All,
I have a simple question and is is basically addressed to the people who have done a lot of testing.
I have tried several Navcores and the one actually on my GO 910 is 8.300.xxxx.
I have installed on TT units from friends Navcore 8.204.xxxx.
I would like to know, wich one it the most actual one as the icons on 8.204 look more 'up to date'.:D
Thanks, joseph64

While 8.300 is the current Navcore for your 910, 8.204, which is for the new X40 GOs, is newer and has more features than 8.300. It will function quite well on your device.

"One last question. I downloaded the SpeedCam RAR just posted previously in this thread"
As before, it is customary to click on Thanks for posts you found helpful.
By your own admission you have found and used the info contained in this thread.
You must have found more than one post helpful?
I've seen a few posts referring that I should know some things because I stated that I went back and looked some of the prior posts in this thread. What I was referring to is YES, there were posts explaining the use of 8.204 to get some 740 feature prior to my 1st post. Guess what? I never saw them prior to my 1st post.. I thought 8.300 was my only option. I DID NOT "discover" that information on this site and obviously this thread. I came across the information accidently on that fatwallet site. As stated previously, I didn't know the 740 even existed. So when I came across it, I tried it and it worked. I thought I was doing a GOOD thing when I posted it here.
Obviously, some seem annoyed by my perceived lack of appreciation or knowledge about this stuff. I'll try to make it clear. I understand very little about how these GPS devices work. I've only used Macs so obviously the EasyTools stuff is just as confusing. Obviously I appreciate the help. I am now aware that providing thanks for a helpful explanation is the norm. It makes sense.
I had a question about the SpeedCams. Yes, I read that they were available. Yes, I downloaded them to see if I could figure them out. No, I could figure them out. The directions provided were to use EasyTools. Although I am a Mac person, I did try to use EasyTools through Virtual PC. I had no luck. So, I asked for additional advice to improve my "skills" with EasyTools. Again. I see the message that I should know some of this stuff because I admitted that I did read backwards in the thread.
Of course I read older topics in the thread. I hoped to solve some of these questions on my own as some responses to my questions have come across as semi-sarcastic or patronizing. I hope I am wrong. I always try to do it on my own after getting enough information from this and other sites.
Regarding the shutdown message, I have tried several times to replace the arrival message. I've gone through Home where those changes are made. Actually downloaded a few choices. Home states they are chosen. They never work. Rytenuff states I should use recorded. Thank you! That is advice I could understand and say thank you for. Of course that raises another question.
I want the computer voice to get street names. Can I use both a recorded and computer voice at the same time. Again, I need to identify that all of this stuff is new to new so some of the questions may seem "stooopid". I'm getting to the point I'm not sure what is a helpful post and what is not. So, obviously the thanks button might be erratic.
PSU
Again, thanks in advance for this rambling and your continued guidance.
[rytenuff;4057862]I have never come across any other arrival sound bar, "You have reached your destination." I didn't know there were alternatives. Could you point to one?
rytenuff - If you go through "Home" and adding items, there is a component *where you can change the arrival sound. I do exactly as described but no luck.
In Planning preferences try selecting Always plan shortest routes. See what TT suggests. I have this selected.
Name the shutdown image as, suspend. Name the shutdown sound as, suspend. i.e. link the two. Thank you! The previous Navcores named the shutdown image as antitheft something or other and it worked! *I wonder if 8.204 is totally different.
You probably have a bak file in root which has details for 8.300. I guessed there was a problem with one of the files remaining. * *Any idea of what file might be the problem? Could this be an issue down the road?
Speedcams are not specific to maps if you have the correct meta.txt codes for them.
Installation is covered only a few posts back from this. I would have thought you would have come across this, "After going back several days in this thread"?
Sorry, never did see the installation process. If I did, I probably would have tried it. Not sure if it would have been successful. Again, Windows jargon confuses me. Still hoping to get better with it.

@ psu1 @ Link on how to install Speedcams if it helps: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4054604&postcount=1615
Slowly getting there. After posting I tried a few more things. In voice prefs. I selected use recorded voice. I now have the arrival sound I wanted. I still have the street names spoken by the computer voice. I also changed the name of the shutdown image to "suspendw.bmp". That now works. Thanks for the advice RY.
The last hurdle is to try to get the Home app. to recognize that I am running 8.204 and not 8.300. Even when I tell Home to copy the Application to the computer, it again identifies it as 8.300. Suggestions most appreciated!

Firstly, a helpful post is one that provides you with information you did not know previously and which you think you may make use of sometime.
Look in root of your TT. Look for ttgo files. You may have ttgo.bif, ttgo.bak and ttgo.ori.
If you have, the ttgo.ori file will have the 8.204 details. Change the ttgo.bif details to be like the ttgo.ori file. Make a folder in root called store and put the bak and ori files in there so they won't be found by your device. If this next doesn't work you can copy them back into root again.
Next download this:
http://rapidshare.com/files/164940398/Navcore.8.204.9718_tomtom.com.rar
unRAR unzip or whatever you do with a MAC and place the entire fiolder here:
Mac Users:-
User's_Home/Library/ApplicationSupport/TomTomHOME/Profiles/????????.default/Resources/Extensions/Navcore.?.???.????.mac@tomtom.com/?-???- ????-/.framework
Do a hard reset with a pin and boot up your TomTom. Connect to Home and see what gives.

@ psu1 @ Link on how to install Speedcams if it helps: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4054604&postcount=1615
As I said previously, you do not require a map PNA or META to activate SpeedCams. The Cams will work in any map for the countries covered by the SpeedCams. You do require the meta.txt code for the cams to activate them.
rytenuff

BTW you can read the contents of the bif, bak ori files with a text editor. In Windows, Notepad does the job.
msubedar,
Thanks for the suggestions. When I downloaded all of the files I did put this piece "Navcore.8.204.9718@tomtom.com" in the correct place for the Mac. It included the dll file in there already. I did notice that there was another download that only included the dll file. I replace the one that was already in the folder with the other and see what happens.
Also, and this may be silly, but in regard to the SpeedCam files, which are the only ones I need for North America?
I did look at your recommended link, and it does seem clearer. Once I know which are the North America files, I'll attempt it. Thanks again!!

NEW VERSION yDGpatch v1.2
I just downloaded official Navcore 8.300 from here:
http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/navcore/navcore_8.300.9732.go530-go730-go930.cab
So that I could try out the yDGpatch v1.2 prog .
This will patch official ttsystem files so that your device will be able to use pirate maps. It doesn't give you extra bells and whistles that your device isn't meant to have it just lets you use the current official Navcore for your device.
It requires you to have Net framework 2.00 minimum installed to work.
Version 3.5 is available from Microsoft here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=333325FD-AE52-4E35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en
The official Navcore for the 720 is 8.300 so that is why I chose that.
I installed it to an SD card and ran the yDGpatcher. Operation is a doddle. You click "Patch File" show it the path to the ttsystem file, select it and click, "Go !!" Several seconds later you get the message that it has patched the file.
I then patched the map with EasyUseTools and it worked perfectly. No extra bells or whistles just the Navcore working as it is supposed to.
If you have a spare SD card give it a try.
Get it here (includes "ReadThis" file)

Rytenuff, The only file you identify on the TT is the ttgo.bif. Not sure why the files are not there or even what they do.

TT device actually states the Navcore version is 8.204.
But when I use Home, and go to show items on the TT, the application shows as 8.300. Even when I copied the application from the TT back to the computer it still identifies the application as 8.300.

Hi rytenuff,
What do you mean when you mention "Change the ttsserver in order to use VocalizerTTS, etc.".

Hi, I had the same problem with a GO of a friend of mine.
The solution was to load a new bootloader.
I used ver.5.5022 and after that, all workd A-OK.

Hi rytenuff,
What do you mean when you mention "Change the ttsserver in order to use VocalizerTTS, etc.".
All these bits and bobs in the Navcore are still a bit of mumbo jumbo to me.
Thanks, Joseph64.
If you have a LoquendoTTS folder in your TT root & voices are working for you, then you don't need to trouble yourself with this.

@ joseph64
There are two flavours of TTS (Text To Speech) for TomTom, Loquendo which is by far the better of the two and VocalizerTTS which is not so good at pronouncing words but does work in some devices that can't use Loquendo. e.g. ONE's using 8.204
Unfortunately, VocalizerTTS is only available in three languages. American English M(ale) and F(emale) , French Canadian M and F, and Mexican Spanish M and F. It was primarily aimed at the North American market.
To use it with a ONE and 8.204 you need to use a different (older) ttsserver in Outsourced folder. SE Nav8.204 version 1.4 already includes this and the original in a separate folder should you want to use it instead.
As Tendriver says, if you have Loquendo working it is not worth installing VocalizerTTS

@Rytenuff & Tendriver, and all posters,
When I read all these post from you guy's I sometimes wonder if you still have some time left over for other things like sleeping or so.
I appreciate a lot all your effort in helping us to get more out of a device that otherwise would soon only serve to decorate our dashboard a wee bit.
I can understand that any (Cloggy) company need to sell, in order to survive, but they should no try to become toooooo clever trying to sell a new device every year again to the users. A reasonable upgrade/update for at least 5 years would possibly give you guy's a lot more spare time.
Thanks a bunch anyway!

Hi all,
In my last post I stated that all was good with the TT and that I just added a SDHC card and planned to "play" with it somewhat.
If you recall, I switched to 8.204 on the internal TT. Just for experimentation I put my "original" patched Navcore 8.300 on the SDHC. After restarting, it chose 8.300 to be the operating application. Does anyone know why it chose that one?
In "Home", I could "Select" which drive to look at. Does my selection here create any sort of preference as to which drive to start from? Even when I chose the " internal" as the last drive selected, restart returns to the 8.300 on the SDHC. It looks like I answered my own question but I'm trying to understand this device better and why certain selections on the device are made.
BTW, I already removed the 8.300 from the SDHC. Again, just trying to get a clearer understanding of the little nuances.

I don't use a mobile 'phone too often as I don't have much need so I don't know too much about what is what re. them.
When connected to my bluetooth phone, when I click on, "Read/Write message", I only have, "Read inbox messages" available.
The icons for, "Read outbox messages," "Write message" and "Write location message" are greyed out.
When I select, "Read inbox messages" then "Options" the icons available (highlighted) are, "Call sender" and "Reply to message".
("Forward message" and "Forward to Buddy" are greyed out.)
Clicking on, "Reply to message" gives me, "This feature is not supported".
Is this typical for everyone using SE 8.204 or is it a feature of my particular 'phone Motorola Razr?

This map has terrain and POIs, but no roads?
There are three contiguous mapsets that you should be interested in:
- Major Roads of US & Canada (122MB)
- USA & Canada (896MB)
- North America (1.4GB)
Major roads are just that -- major roadways (good for small memory cards -- for planning long, multi-state trips).
USA & Canada is a complete map, with the following POI categories removed:
Church
Dentist
Doctor
Government office
Law courts
Legal/other
Legal/solicitors
Shop
Veterinarian
of these, the 'Shop' category is the one that's most glaring. Without it, you'll be missing POIs like Wal-Mart, supermarkets, local retailers, etc... The mapset was designed for those that still use 1GB cards.
The "North America" mapset is complete, and is identical to each state/group of states, as well as the six regional maps (so there's no advantage to having an individual state map if using NA). The advantage to using the full NA map is that you can plan an interstate/inter-region trip without switching maps.
copied the above from another forum. was talking about version 6 maps, but still true today, except only a few "shops" are now added to verion 8 USA and Canada maps.
Still looking for NorthAmerica 815.2022 or higher for PDA use. Version 8.15.2019 will NOT work for PDA.

This is for people who want to try out this map and the specialised NC. I installed this Map & the Navcore onto my 520 but came across some hurdles, firstly, when you go to patch the map using a new version of the Keygen (Easy Tools) then it may not work because mine kept saying that meta.txt is not valid so to rectify this issue try using one of the older versions of the keygens, it worked fine for me. Also if you have got a fairly new TomTom which allows SR then at first you will not have the option on this NC to use features like Voice Address Input, but this can rectified i think although i have not tried it yet.
Overall it is ok, but I would still prefer sticking to my previous Setup which was NC 8.204 and my 4 seperate maps. The only time I may use this NC & Setup would be if I was to Drive from the UK to an eastern european country for example as it combines mostly all europe countries. Although I tried a route from the UK to Turkey and it took me a really long route completely unecessary because it did not cover a country or two so it took me a really long way round.

Hi Guys,
On my GO 910, I tried to install navcore 8.204(1.4) from oldgit9 on top of the 8.300 I had and it did freeze on the TOM TOM screen with the little red hands and would only switch off after a pin reset.
I have formatted the HDD and reinstalled my copy of the previously working navcore 8.300 and the same story , only the freezing screen is different as I had another picture with the 8.300. Formatted again to FAT32 and tried any basic 8204 with new system file, but the same story. I think that I have reformatted about 4 times and tried different navcores, but no joy.
Any suggestions please about what I am doing wrong. Thanks. josep64.

Try formatting the memory, updating via tomtom home.
then copy a working patched ttsystem to your device (i.e. you install 8.0.10 you copy the patched 8.0.10 ttsystem file)

Thanks a lot bumobiles,
This certainly did the trick. TT gave me a 6.xxxx version, but at least it was working.
Overwrote it with 8.204.9718 and it even updated my bootloader to 5.5106,
Added some new maps and radars, who are here in Spain easy available and wer'e back on the game.
Maybe I should go all over this thread again to see if I can find some info on all these folder items on the drive.
Can you recommend some post where I could find out about things like "asr", "outsorced.bin", "ephem", "voices", "sounds", loquendo TTS" etc,...
I don't want to put all the options double installed, but like to try all the possibilities.
The user manual from TT X40, does not explain anything about the folders and I didn't expect that either.
I did manage to connect my BlackBerry 8300 and working A-OK!
Cheers,josep64.:D
Hi, I'm new also and I bought a few days ago a TOM TOM XL, Application: 8.014 9372 and boot: 5.5019 (Only with internal RAM 1 GB). I followed these steps you described for Kochane. I only wonder if I can do the same for my Tommie and when it will not work, can I restore the old stuff without problems? It has to do with the warranty, if nescessary). I understood also not to change the bootloader, because it can only be upgraded and not downgrade again to original. Thanks for your help anyway!!

As you have realised, the bootloader (system file) cannot be removed with a format. All other files can be removed or changed.
Make a backup by connecting to your PC, open your TomTom in My Computer and copy and paste everything in there to a folder. Make sure you have, "show hidden files" in Windows enabled. Now make a backup with HOME to be doubly safe. Now delete everything from your device or do a format.
When it comes to installing a new Navcore, look for the new "system" file and do not copy it to your device. You can return your TT to as bought by reversing these steps.

1. ASR is Assisted Speech Recognition for devices that let you give verbal commands to the device.
2. Outsourced.bin is for devices with small memories. You don't need it.
3. Ephem folder is associated with QuickGPSFix updates.
4. Voices folder stores downloaded voices.
5. Unless you have added sounds, this folder will be empty.
6.LoquendoTTS (Text To Speech) Uses the computer voices on your device to generate speech, that allows the device to 'read aloud' street names e.g. "In one half mile, turn left Smith Street".

I understood from your previous answer to Kochane, that only these 3 files: ttsystem, data.chk and PNDNavigator has to be replaced?
These files are in : 8.014.9372.rar made by Cryptload, and also: switchfiles.zip and Outsourced.bin. So now I'm not sure what to do.

Hey there, TT Home will only update your 720 to V8.300 because that is the latest version for your tomtom. If you want the latest NC (app) which is V8.204 then this can be found here: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4045406&postcount=1562 - Everything you need is in here.
You also need to download a Keygen (Easytools) which can be found on Page 1 of this thread:
The Link - http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=3606913&postcount=2
Once you have downloaded the new NC, Delete all your file contents from your tomtom so you start fresh and copy over the new NC contents into the root of your 720.
Then copy over the patched ttsystem file which is in one of the folders in the download link, over-write it with the one in your tomtom. If you don't do this then your map will not work.
Then copy over your Map folder into the root of your tomtom, NOT into any other folder!
From your map folder copy over 2 files which will be called something like "Western_and_Central_Europe.pna" & "Western_and_Central_Europe-19.meta" (MAKE SURE IT IS NOT THE .meta.dct FILE!!!) & also the notepad "meta" file, if you have not got one then you will find one in the Progs folder in the Keygen and paste the 3 files into the Keygen folder called "insert_meta_from_Map_here".
Also In the Keygen folder you will find a notepad file called DeviceID, in this notepad file write your Device ID correctly all uppercase and with no spaces.
Then run the command program called "RunMeforDCT" and follow the options - (It will normally be option #1 then option #1 again)
After that is done, from the "insert_meta_from_Map_here" folder, copy over the newly created ".meta.dct" into your Map folder and your map will now work.
If you get stuck then give us a shout. Good Luck,
Mo

The outsourced files are files which can be run out of RAM. They are used in devices which don't have a lot of RAM like ONE's. To use the outsourced folder simply place it in root. You can leave it out if you have enough RAM to run the device. The files will be run from RAM instead. The switchfiles are not essential either. The Readmenot file explains how they work. Leaving them out will be OK too.

It would be really great if all you new members (and some of the not so new members) would take a while to read the previous posts instead of diving in with questions which have been answered numerous times in this thread.
Also please note, it is customary to click on the THANKS button for ALL posts which you found helpful. "Helpful posts" being general information as well as links to posts relating to software that you did not know before reading it as well as the ACTUAL links when you go there to download it..
Will this map work with my Navcore.....There is a chart posted giving that very information.
How do I patch a map......Again posts galore on how to do that.
How do I patch my map, I have a new Navcore which I downloaded with HOME.......You cannot patch a map with an uncracked Navcore. (How many times has that been posted here?!!!)
etc.etc.

The EasyUseTools program is designed to look for the meta.txt file in the Progs folder. Leave it in there. Do not copy it to any other folder.
To prove this , copy it into say the "insert_meta_from_Map_here" and delete it from the Progs folder. Now try to run the "RunMefor DCT" command. You will only get a message, "No meta.txt found."

Hi Guys. Now then, I have a tomtom one v2. I've updated the firmware using tomtom home and it is now at 7.903/9183.
Now, I understand that this navcore can not be patched. So I downloaded the 8.204 from the links on this thread.
On extracting the rar I get the options
ASR.rar
Home_dll_8-204-9718-1.rar
Home_Navcore.8.204.9718_tomtom.com.rar
navcore_SE_8.204.9718_basicpack.rar
SE_ttsystem.8204.9718.rev.1.4.rar
SE_ttsystem.8204.9718.x10.x20.x30.rev.1.4.rar
I extracted navcore_SE_8.204.9718_basicpack.rar and SE_ttsystem.8204.9718.rev.1.4.rar to F:\ (ie to my tomtom)
Now my tomtom will not boot.
Is my problem that the 8204 does not work on my TTonev2 or am I missing something?
Thanks in advance

Hey, Glad it all worked, no worries, anytime.
With regards to your boot and gps version, that is fine if it is still the same, you don't have to worry about that.
HOME will try and "upgrade" your TT to NC V8.300, don't do that!!!
You will find a folder called "Home_Navcore.8.204.9718_tomtom.com" inside the NC download you did. Inside this folder is another folder which will be called "Navcore.8.204.9718@tomtom.com", copy this folder to this directory in your computer, but before you do that there is a folder called "Home_dll_8-204-9718-1" inside the NC folder which contains a DLL file, copy and over-write that DLL file with the one in the folder "Navcore.8.204.9718@tomtom.com" before you copy the folder to this directory, i would keep HOME closed.
Copy the folder to this directory:
XP Users:
Home v2.2 - x.x :-
C:\Documents and Settings\????\ApplicationData\TomTom\HOME\Profiles \????.default\extensions\Navcore.?.?????@tomtom.co m
Vista Users:-
C:\Users\???????\AppData\Roaming\TomTom\HOME\Profi les\?????????.default\extensions\Navcore.?.?????@t omtom.com

Can i suggest you briefly read this post, maybe you can spot if you are doing something wrong: http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showpost.php?p=4077980&postcount=1731
Also, after you copy over all the contents from "navcore_SE_8.204.9718_basicpack", from the "SE_ttsystem.8204.9718.rev.1.4" the only file you need to copy and over-write is the ttsystem file to the root of your TT so that you can patch your map to your tomtom. If your One does not have much RAM then you can also copy over "Outsourced.8204" but that is not vital.
You do not need to copy over all the contents from that folder.
