Hi all! I have palm Vx ! i want to upgrade PalOs to 4.1 , but it's not free ! Does any one have it ?

Well... I don't have the russian one.. it isn't in the multilanguage OS update... I will upload the english one and post a link for you.

Ok, sorry for that...
I'm uploading it to my main server right now.

OK, now instructions.. I forgot that last time...
Download and install the latest Palm Desktop, then copy the "PalmVx_ENG_FlashTool.exe" to the Palm folder (ex. C:\Palm, or C:\Program Files\Palm) and start it. You will be prompted to make a Hotsync, if it does'nt start automatictly, then press the hotsync button on the cradle. Then continue the upgrade and let the program do it's stuff... You will get scared if you see the LCD of the Palm ;)... it's like a TV without signal... but this is normal... when it's done updating, you can configure the palm and the program prompts for a Hotsync again, to restore the backupped data.
Couldn't rate you, you'll have to anable that from your control panel, let me know when you do, and I'll rate you.

If you need the update for an older Palm device, just tell me.. I've got the whole CD....
I myself own a Palm V OS 4.1
I sure would like a copy of that CD :) :) :) :)
I have a server where you can upload or can pay you for the CD via Paypal or something if you make it cheap :D

Jeje, in my country there is no Paypal (I sure would like to have paypal... so I can also buy things...).. and uploading will be VERY slow... 256kbps up...
I downloaded the cd-image with Overnet/eDonkey. It took a while, because not everybody has it.
I still have the image on my harddisk, but I think to upload 500MB with 256kbps would take some time and kill my connection. Don't you think :P
What I can do, is give you the eDonkey-link, so you download the same file and not a fake. Would that help?

Here is a extract from that page :
Before running the Palm OS Software 4.1 Upgrade be sure to read the readme file and FAQ section regarding this software application.
Note: This version of the Palm OS® Software 4.1 Upgrade for the Palm™ m500 and m505 handhelds Update is intended for US English handhelds only. It is not compatible with Multi-Language versions of the Palm m500 and m505 handhelds.
Palm OS 4.1 Software Upgrade for the Palm m500 and m505 handhelds is not compatible with Windows XP and Mac OS X.
So if your Palm was a non US model, then I'm afraid you have loaded wrong software, and as I know theres not any other upgrades for the m505. If anybody else knows of any plese post a link then.

So as I understand it, you Plam is dead for the moment!
When you try to update the Palm, and it says "press next" bottom, try to tap in the space where it "should" be, just a thought that maybe the display somehow got lost in the previous update ?
Try first to update the desktop software and hotsync software, maybe theres a bug which has been fixed in e newer version ? Just a thought

hmm..
I have an idea. Hard reset your palm, so that it is clean (no data). Install the newest palm Desktop. Start the update program (the one from Palm for m505) and follow the instruccions. If the program waits for a Hotsync to show you the next step, just press the button on the craddle and it should work.

I once had a problem connecting with my palm, and after a half day trying to reconfigure, new setings chnage com ports ect, I finally found out it was the connecting pad between the cradle and the pilot. Try clean the cobber pads with a touthbrush and some alcohol, may this might just be the problem. Also check your comport settings in Device Manager and make sure theres no exclamation mark on the comport you are trying to use.
Since nothing else work, hardreset ect, this is the only thing left I can think of.
If you happen to have another palmpilot as backup, try connect that and see if it's ok in a hotsync on the same comport you are using the current palm!
Otherwise you could send me the palm, and I'll fix it for you

Add one to the list of people who want thie os 4.1 upgrade CD
got a palm v and looking for the 4.1 os upgrade as well, just really need it for typing notes and stuff, dont' want to lug around a laptop. Sorry for pming you but i though this thread was closed for good. HOPE YOU STILL HAVE IT

Hope I can help a bit, uploaded to rapidshare, the PalmOS4.1_upgrade_en file, compatible with Palms from III,IIIx,IIIxe,IIIc,V, to Vx.
(Think it's not compatible with Mseries (M500/505/515: try at your own risk)

From an old Vx long time dead & buried, found a backup CD with PalmOS 3.50 & don't remember where the 4.1 upgrade came from, think I downloaded from Palm on those years (jess... long walk from my first Vx, M100, M505, Tungsten T, T3, Tx to my actual Treo680)
As long as I remember, first backup your data, then hard reset, full charge batteries & unpack/run the 39.3Mb file.

Hi, no further update from PalmOS 4.1 for your IIIe... sorry...
I've heared once about a 4.2 beta, but never decanted to an official release, next release was OS5 (aka:Garnet as pre release) but no even the Tungsten series were compatible with it...
Found this txt file, hope it helps:

Palm III and upgrade Palm Professionals / Personals.
1) For Palm III Dowload the ROM file AND
2) Download Upgrade_Utility.zip AND
3) If needed, download Condmgr.dll.
4) Unzip all the files in one directory.
5) Now backup your Palm (ALL DATA WILL BE ERASED!)
6) Reset the Palm using the stylus or a paperclip, while holding
down the PAGE DOWN key on the Palm.
Now you will have a flashing square in the upper left corner of the screen.
The rest of the screen will be garbled.
7) Put your Palm in the cradle with fresh batteries Palm III
8) Execute the Upgrade_Utility.exe
9) If you get an error about the DLL, download also the DLL.
10) Choose ADVANCED and then, choose BROWSE.
11) Select the downloaded and unzipped ROM file.
Palm V(x) and IIIx(e):
1) For Palm V(x) and IIIx Download PalmV&IIIx Flashtool OS35UK.zip
2) Now backup your Palm (ALL DATA WILL BE ERASED!)
3) Reset the Palm using the stylus or a paperclip, while holding
down the PAGE DOWN key on the Palm.
Now you will have a flashing square in the upper left corner of the screen.
The rest of the screen will be garbled.
8) Execute the Upgrade_Utility.exe
7) Put your Palm in the cradle with fresh batteries (Palm IIIx)
10) Choose ADVANCED and then, NEXT when it appears (wil take a few seconds).
Now if everything is correct you can choose NEXT (give it a few seconds)
The rest should be obvious... The upgrade takes about 7 minutes, when done
choose CANCEL, EXIT and follow the instructions on the Palm screen.
Resync, and youre back in bussiness.
When you are having problems with HotSync, i suggest you also
upgrade the Palm Desktop to version 4.0.
Also, you should consider to download and install Update352.prc
This is the newest version OS for the III, V(x) and IIIx.
