Failed to update dead N73 using Phoenix..

Hello all,

Based on this thread:
http://www./archiv.../t-579276.html
I have followed the installation procedure as follows:

1. msxml6_x86.msi (a newer version was already installed)
2. installed vcredist_x86.exe
3. installed Nokia_Connectivity_Cable_Driver.msi
4. installed Nokia_Flashing_Cable_Driver.msi
5. installed Nokia_Service_Tool_Drivers.msi
6. installed Phoenix_Service_Software_2008.20.009.34260
7. installed Phoenix_2006_2008_patch.exe (I put in in the Phoenix installation directory and run it)
8. installed N73_RM-133_V4.0734.2.0.2_AR.exe (This installed into .../phoenix/products folder)

When I tried to install Nokia_Diego_3.09.msi a message came up saying that the connectivity driver is newer and therefore the installation will not continue.

After all of this I restarted the computer and tried to flash my DEAD Nokia N72 (RM-133).

* I started by plugging the cable into the dead phone.
* Then I started Phoenix.
* From the File menu I chose Manage Connection (naturally it was set to no connection), then I closed the Manage Connection window.
* From the File menu I clicked on Open Product, chose RM-133 (for N73) and clicked on OK.
* From the Flashing menu I clicked on Firmware update. A new window appeard. The Product code, SW version, Output fields and Restore User Product were disabled. I could only click on Dead phone USB flashing. When I click on that option, the (Restore User Product) becomes enabled. If I click on it though, I get a message saying (No data-package selected (Product code is empty). Select first desired Product Code and then try again). I cannot select any product code because the Product Code field is still disabled.

Do I need to install any other program? like PC Suite..? or I have made a mistake during one of the steps?

Sorry to tell you, but N73 is not supported for dead usb flashing, only with fbus cable and appropriate interface...FLS-5 for Phoenix, or Jaf and MT-box as third-party tools

g-gabber, renegade65..
Thank you both for the information. I was trying to update the firmware using NSU when the whole update process stopped and the phone died. Looks like I'll have to take this phone to a repair shop and try again with another phone.

Well it seems that u skiped a step. After this step

* From the File menu I clicked on Open Product, chose RM-133 (for N73) and clicked on OK.

when the window opens, u need to click on browse (thats the 3 dots button) and select your relevant product code, then the information will show up in this boxes telling u which firmware version is available for your product.

If u cant find your product code, then follow these steps:

1) Click on TOOLS
2) Select IMAGE FILE DOWNLOAD
3) Here, enter your product code and cick DOWNLOAD.

Phoenix will then automatically download the latest firmware available for your product from the internet. Once the download is complete, you can try doing as i directed you above. Hope this helps
