FINALLY oh finally i have managed to get tomtom 6 running on my new N96.
Now its probably not the way we want it to work as it doesnt work with the internal GPS receiver but it does run with my bluetooth GPS receiver ok.
The version i got working was the old one
"TomTom.Mobile.v6.01.S60v3.SymbianOS9.1.Cracked.by. BiNPDA.sis"
I have uploaded a copy to rapidshare in the text file below.
you will need the following files/folders which most of you should have anyway from other installations
RASTER (folder)
TOMTOM (folder)
UK Map (or other-folder)
VOICES (folder)
ZIP (folder)
TomTom.Mobile.v6.01.S60v3.SymbianOS9.1.Cracked.by. BiNPDA.sis (download below if needed)
here is the trick
copy all to mass storage memory on N96 and run .sis file from there, be sure to set your date back to 08/08/2007 whilst installing. i installed to phone memory when asked.
then it runs ok with an external bluetooth gps.
I know we all want it to run from the internal gps like Garmin XT but this is about the best solution for tomtom up to now for our N96's.
all the best

Is there any way I can get around this? I have already changed the date to 2007!
Thanks

have you installed any previous versions on this N96 before you followed my instructions above?

Would be nice if we could make the GPSd connect to a bluetooth device, just like the bt.sisx did for N95 so that we can use INTERNAL GPS.
Guess that takes some programming.. I heared tomtom is giving the bypass to legit users... IF someone could get a hand on it..
Or is there a bt.sis around for the N96 to get tomtom wroking via internal allready?

Hiya, spent all b/h weekend trying to get TT to work on my N96. Uploaded and tried many different files including my old N73 ones - all to no avail. The above posts all suggest it can be done so it must be something I am missing. I have downloaded the TomTom.Mobile.v6.01.S60v3.SymbianOS9.1.Cracked.by .BiNPDA.sis file to my root on mass memory but when I use File manager to run it it starts to install and then right at the end it says "Unable to install". No clues as to why not - any ideas. Your help will be much appreciated.

Hi There,
Have you checked the security on your phone that it allows all programs to be installed?

yes thats the one i meant.
to be honest i am struggling to find you a solution.
Is your phone a branded N96?
i know that some phone providers brand phones and maybe that has stopped it??
Also what software version are you running?
*#0000#
mine is 12.043.
I am just trying to find things different on yours and mine to isolate the potential problem.

I upgraded the software last week, to 11.018 dated 13-09-08 (it said it was the latest, the custom version says 11.018249.2 dated 03-10-08, language set 001,). It says it is a Nokia N96, I do believe it may have been purchased originally from carphone warehouse. The Model is type RM-247.

Just checked my product code, 0573063, research suggests this may be branded to o2. I will look at trying to get the phone unbranded, do you recommend a particular product code, ie shall I try to set up for UK & Ireland using code 0568238 or Euro1 0543713. I am a UK resident.
Appreciate your help, thanks.

I have done as suggested and started a new thread for the branding. Meantime, is there anything else that you can think of that I may be missing and could you confirm the product code you use in order that I pick one that actually works if I decide to go down the route of re-branding. thanks again.

Hi, well I rec'd zilch on the other string so gave that up. Meantime I arranged for carphone warehouse to do the software upgrade so I am now on 12.043 and have been assured the phone is not branded. Tried to install the TT again and still no further forward, simply says it 'cannot install'. Other forums suggest this may be due to my trying previously and some debris files may be lurking about preventing the installation. Any thoughts and how I may clear up from previous attempts to install, or for that matter any other suggestions? This is really doing my head in, everything takes so long! Been weeks, no months, trying to sort this out. Please, anyone out there can help with TT on N96,

Best way to clear it up is to do a format of your memory card and internal storage disc.
I have never tried this so be careful.
Sorry i cant help anymore but as you can see by the thread it has worked for countless others so it must be something you have done previously thats stopping it.
If you are using the files from the first post of this thread?
and have turned off all software installation security?
then i am at a loss as to how to advise you further.:(:(:(

HI PICTOPICTO
I just dowloaded tomtom with your link and installed on mine n 96 but he say the license is old. do you have a new link with a new license???
thnx
if this happens change the date on your phone back to, say May 2007, and install. then once its installed you can set date back to correct one again.
