this will only jailbreak your phone but not unlock the phone. and in this you will have the latest baseband to be the reason of no signal. lets wait for the dev team for the solution for the latest baseband. we need the baseband downgraded also.

Please guys read blog from dev team, they post that We can unlock iphone 3G using yellowsn0w version 0.97 with a CUSTOM FIRMWARE 2.2.1 ( CUSTOM) Means u can upgrade your iphone 3G and wont upgrade baseband but with a custom firmware. Please read carefully three times.

as we go acc to to dev team , u cant unlock ur ifone 3g with version 2.2.1 and with modem version 2.30 . as dev team said that only 2.28 modem version can be unlocked by yellosn0w , 2.30 not supported , if u have updated ur ifone to latest verison 2.2.1 with itunes than nothin can be done , if u r thinkin of updating it than plz do not update with itunes , dev team has released new pwn tool which customize the latest file , by which u can update ur ifone version to 2.2.1 and modem version ll remian same as 2.28 and it can be unlocked , if u try to downgrade ur 1 fone frm 2.2.1 to 2.2.0 even than ur modem version ll remian 2.30 ,so it ll be wastage of time so plz wait for solution ,and this is for i fone 3g , cant say anythin abt ifone 2g ,and yellowsn0W new version i0.97 is out , which can unlock customised update file version 2.2.1 and modem version .2 28

Most probably you are using IDM for download. Downloading from mediafire it always stops at 99.99%.

Just Go to options in IDM then connection and set Default max. conn. number to 1. It will download 100%.

Most probably you are using IDM for download. Downloading from mediafire it always stops at 99.99%.

Just Go to options in IDM then connection and set Default max. conn. number to 1. It will download 100%.

Here is easy way to unlock:-

1. Restore with iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw
2. Jailbreak with QuickPwn22-1
3. Open Unlock 3g.exe then click Libarar, download from here (http://rapidshare.com/files/192807648/Unlock_3G.zip)Your phone will be unlock
4. Power off phone then insert any sim card & power on & wait 1 minute
5. If network searching Then go to setting on your phone display
6. Select Airplane mode on, wait few second then select airplane mode off
now Iphone 100% ready to use any sim card.

Thats all.

Launch itunes, hold shift and click restore. Choose the relevant file and wait for the process to finish.

Then after the screen turns off, before itunes sync for first time disconnect
and launch the newest quickpwn. follow the instructions, choosing the file you donwloaded earlier as your firmware and it will jailbreak as normal.

note: Yellowsn0w is not yet compatible with 2.21

i 've been reading all 5 pages here and i cant understand why all this repetition and confusion.

if the unit has been updated to 2.2.1 you can jailbreak it ok for now but once insert sim card you will not get any signal. The current version of Yellowsnow wont work yet at the time of writing.

the only way for now is to use universal sim or any other sim related product to get a network. Hopefully this wont be needed in the near future......as usual.

to unlock your Iphone 1.2, 2.1 frist u have to update it to 2.2 (5g77) with itunes then after that download quickpwn 2.2.5-2 and jail break it just follow the instruction in quickpwn and make sure u have the same file 2.2(5g77) because quickpwn will ask for it the after u have complete jailbreak just turn on your wierless connection on ur iphone lunch cydia do the nesscary upgrade in cydia after go to the manage tab below on your iphone the select Sources after that you should see apt9.yellowsn0w.com select that i just install it on ur 3g iphone only for 3g iphone

the iPhone 2g can be unlocked regardless of which firmware/baseband it has, i am currently running iPhone 3.0 beta 3 (7a280f) version fully unlocked on all networks


usually a 'standard' 2.2.1 iPhone cannot be unlocked using yellowsn0w, however there are exceptions

You can unlock an iphone 3g on the 2.2.1 firmware if.....


A) the iPhone 3g was brought before september 2008, in which case the 2.30 baseband can be downgraded by first downgrading the bootloader,

B) you created a custom ipsw BEFORE you upgraded to 2.2.1, which would have upgraded the firmware, but left the baseband unchanged

iPhone 3g's brought before september 2008 will have 5.08 bootloader.
this can be downgraded, which also allows the baseband to be downgraded
and in turn allows yellown0w compatability and Voila! a soft unlock!


To check if an iPhone 3g's running 2.2.1 bootloader can be downgraded


DO NOT RUN THE BBUpdaterExtreme CODE BEFORE CHECKING YOUR BOOTLOADER. THIS CAN BRICK YOUR IPHONE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE REQUIRED VERSION :eek:

if you get bootloader version 5.08 follow these steps

if you have anything else. do NOT attempt to downgrade your bootloader.
It will end in tears i promise :D



Hope this clears things up a little,

but it should be better to wait for public release of 3.0 software (expected to be announced @ WWDC)it looks like the dev team, and a few other groups have been focusing on an unlock solution for this firmware for a while so i wouldnt worry about 2.2.1 too much
