I just finished my M50 (and probably MT50) expanded flexmem test files.
But since I don't have an M50/MT50 phone, I can't test them by myself.
So I need your help.

I made the file publicly available for testing.
You can download it here: http://bitminds.netfirms.com/m50_flexmem_tests.zip

The ZIP file contains a note of details on how to do the test properly.
Make sure you read it. It's in English. I'm sure most people are able to understand it.

Thank you all. ^_^

PS) Don't forget your report... ^_^

hi

i didn't have much time so i tested only the largest one!

i backed everything up, then i wrote the largest file to 170000 with a size of 030000 (as you wrote in the notes)
i was wondering, because this would be only 192kb, and the largest file is 320kb!

i tried to turn on the phone but it just beeped

then i wrote the file to 170000 again, but with a size of 050000 (that would be 320kb)

it worked all well, the flexmem was empty, with a capacity of 306kb, normaly it's 228kb

everything was normal (speed and other things), but as i filled up the flexmem the phone turned off

copying was no problem till about 200kb, but after this i had to turn on the phone after a few seconds

i was able to fill it with 240kb, but then it turned off as a startet to copy something

i hope i could help you!

I tried it to, but al the flash files work, you get larger flexmem, but if you copy anything larger than 240kb the M(T)50 will shutdown, so wat do we get now, we get a 12kb larger usable flexmem at the moment. I'm e-mailing with the dude @ the moment.
P.S> on a german forum they say that the 030000 in the readme file must be 050000 to use the total flash file for the siemens telephone, I tried that to with al the files, no differences, all stay crashing @ anything larger than 240kb

It seems that the limit of the M50 Flexmem capacity is around 240KBytes.
I received the same reports from my email, that is about 240KByte.

If calculated, the M50 can gain additional (about) 12KBytes.
In ME45/S45(i), they can gain 39.5KBytes.
I'm not surprised if M50/MT50 gain only a small amount of free space.
In x45, the Flexmem has 8 blocks of 64KBytes data (512KBytes total).
In x50, it has only 5 blocks of 64KBytes data (320KBytes total).

So, the smaller the real space is, the smaller space can be gained.
I hope you can get my message.

OK then...
I'm going to make a new set of test files to find the exact amount of space can be gained safely.

Thank you for testing it.
Once we find it, I'll make a firmware patch for the M50/MT50.

Cheers!!! ^_^

Damnit, I think that bit extra flexmem isn't worth for people to flash there m(t)50 for only 12kb, thats a really small game

yeah, but better than nothing ;)

Hmmz, I think I'm gonna keep the 312kb flexmem, than I can show off to my friends than mine is bigger :), I just now that I copy over the 240kb limit the phone will crash, but if I dont do that it, then it works fine

I'm doing the same thing :D

By the way,can someone make a FAKE memory capacity ?? :)
I would like about 1 mb of free memory :)
To show my friends that my mt50 doesn't needs a smart card
to have load's of memory :)

@Dark:
Yes I think that's possible.
How many bytes do you want? :D
Theorically, it can be up to 32MBytes. :D
But be carefull not to use it beyond 240KBytes. ;)

Jaromir

Make it as large as possible please :)

Finally...

Here are the new set of Flexmem test files,
including Flexmems for show-offs. ^_^
The file name is m50_flexmem_tests2.zip (total of 19 Flexmems).
Download it from here:
http://bitminds.netfirms.com/siemens.html

PS:
- Does anyone know if C55 has a Flexmem or not?
If it has, how many blocks it has?
Anyone willing to give a C55 FUBU for me to inspect?
- The S55 is said to have up to 957KBytes of Flexmem.
I'm eager to get my hands on its FUBU. ^_^

C55 also has Flexmem. I dont know how many blocks.

Hmmz, the 32MB show off file doesn't work, I have flashed, and it says 377kb capacity and free 0, but i can copy games to it

Jaromir

hmmz, al the files above 400kb don't give any larger size, the maximum size displayed is 377,5kb and then free = 0 but you can copy games on it :)

Hmm... that's strange.
I'll make some modifications for the show-off Flexmems later.

How's the test Flexmems?
Which one is the biggest and safe to use?

Get it frrom here:
http://bitminds.netfirms.com/siemens.html

The file name is m50_32mb_showoff_flexmems.zip
Please test it if it works.

BTW, Which one of the Flexmem test file is safe to use?
I need confirmation in order to make the firmware patch.

Ahh... finally. A report.
Thanks.

Anyway...
It seems that M50 users are not that quite interested in the expanded Flexmem.
So, I decided not to make the firmware unless there's enough people that are really interested.

Sorry about this, but my time is limited.
