Those patches use almost all unused fix key as a shortcut.
If you see "(see table)", it means you can modify their values with values shown in this table (Entry-Point), based on the function you like to assign to that particular fix shortcut. If you see also "***" before that remark, it means you also need to modify the text index with the new value (Text) :

If you want to assign "Game-SuperMind" instead of "Archive" into your 0[UpperRight] keys, then you just need to use :

I from Russia, therefore sorry for my English. I have made input of Russian symbols in a addressbook, SMS and SIM. Russian symbols are made in the English input of kind ÀÁÂÃ2ABC. But a problem with Russian in organiser. Input only 5 symbols and does not save. Help to solve this problem, please.

Werefox, I know your site well. InitService doesn't work on my computer because of WIN XP...
That's why I'm trying another solutions but they don't work either.

Remark:
It is rather dirty patch. SIM Location and Addressbook data will be toggled if there is data inside the Addressbook. For example : first time, pressing Left soft key will enter to Addressbook, then 2nd time (press RED then press Left soft key again), it will enter to SIM Location, ...
It also happened if we select "Insert From" option ...

Yes, you are right... I did a wrong copy-paste. It was my original note. When I do disassembly, I use flash (not file) address, and like Wind wrote: I always use 0xA00000 as a start address.

1) What is different? Using that patch, you don't need to press # for a long time and you can use UP arrow to activate VoiceDial also...
2) Yes, that was almost complete table of each function entry-point. Just try them. I also like to try by myself. It sound usefull...

It will be nice, if you can skip the mp3-´titles with the ptt-button, when the plyer is playing (no fast forward-play)
And if you stop the play, you can't start the play with the ptt-button. it's bad.
Is it able, to change it?
It will be nice, if you can find out!
The play-button on the left side of the SL has the same problems!

i found out, that it is different, if i open the mp3-player with the shortcut of your list, or if you put the play-button/chose the mp3-player with the voiceDial
If you put the play button or open the player about the voicedail, than the play starts automatically.
But not if you open the player for example about the 3-button.
(Only for information!)

In my opinion, it will be nice if the PTT Button will remain as is!
because when you are on the move (like i am) and you want to make a call, you can always use the PTT Button to voicedial even if the phone is keylocked (thanks to RIZAPN for the patch)!
you can always use it to activate the mp3 via voice command!
so in general, it is a multi-function button!

but you forget a thing:
if you start the mp3-player about the voice command, than some important functions are missing:
you ca'tn skip the mp3-´titles with the ptt-button, when the plyer is playing (no fast forward-play)
And if you stop the play, you can't start the play with the ptt-button! Am I right?

anyway why would you store a song that you tend to skip! why not store the song you like? i think thats more logical!

i think, you don't really understand me.
Of course I know, that you can play fast farward, but i think, that it is more usefull, to skip the titles instead of play fast forward or both functions ( shorttoch for skip and long touch for fast forward)
for example: if you had love, to play a special song today
I have a 128 mb MMC with 50 mp3-files!!!
If i have play fast forward to find the song i like to hear, that i a long time, till i find the song!
I hope, you understand me yet!

Can i change the fast forward to fast rewind (because if you put fast rewind during the play than the SL skip the title!

Sorry, but I don't get your point.
1) Do you mean, there is a shortcut to Illumination function in the original v56, and we can use it even when keypad is locked ?
2) Or, you mean, in the original firmware, the light will be ON if we press any key when keypad is locked ?

If the goal is to get the difference between each phone in the Addressbook (mobile, work, home. etc), then perhaps the idea to display both name and number for incoming call is easier to implement than creating a new icon or additional text.

I tried to use your key lock patch but with the "left side -"Button(code: 0D).
But it is unable.
if the keys are locked, you can't unlocked them, not with the left side key and not with the other keys - you must put out the accu!!)

and why forgot abot "1" key ??? anybody use it for listen voicemail??? how this key make simple as other for shorcut??

Keypad "1":
Yes, I use it as a Phone Number shortcut. We can assign any number as a VoiceMessage number right? So, just use it as any other button, but only for Phone Number. And I think it is still very usefull.
Other request:
1) Disassembling SL45 (or any other Siemens phone) firmware is not easy. It give you around 67MB assembler file. Even in the small ones, assembler is not easy to trace, especially without any debugger and emulator. There is no "print(bla-bla-bla)" or "drawimage(zzz-zzz)" or "onkeyPressed()" or any other high level function clearly displayed there. There are only : extp, mov, trap, jmpr, calls, and some other (almost) meaningless command in that whole 67MB text file.
2) Copy-paste from other firmware? Even they use very similar hardware and language, they all use very different address. If the address is different, then nothing to do with copy-paste.
3) I am not a person who do not need to do another work. I also need "something" to give to my wife and child (more important). So, if there are some C166 programmer/hobbiest who really like to share theirs, I (and all of us I think) will be very happy.

2) I also post a method to get Function Entry Point using Menu structure in that section. That is very usefull (at least for me) to speed up the trace process (from where we have to look for in the assembly file)

I have a patch to display main menu in the full-graphics mode. Using that, we can have our own menu (main menu only) appereance. For example, it can be like S55 menu type, Samsung, PC, or whatever that we can draw in a 101x80 black and white screen.
I like to get help from anyone who has good graphics capability. That patch need 12 different images (101x80 black-white picture) which will be displayed based on the pressed-button. For example, 1st time, patch will display image no.1, then if we press RIGHT button it will display image no.2, or if we press LEFT button it will display image no.12 ... etc-etc...
I did create my own graphics, but it is very poor. I like to try the patch with good graphics before posting it here ...

With cut and paste I was thinking that ME45 and SL45 was like brorhers, they was released with short space of time.. And it looks, like in Siemens don`t like big changes, koz in SL45 flash is too many things from S35 (Net monitor) etc. That`s why I was thinked there are some same pieces ;)

Yes, it is normal. That's why I did not write (or call) it as "Animated" Screen Saver. It is generated by something like refresh function in the firmware, and I don't want to change that refreshment period (I don't know the impact for the whole system). So, I just modify the image which is drawn by thar refresh function ...
By the way, there is another patch (in my collection) which can do something very similar, "Slow animated" operator logo ... instead of screen saver. Personally, I think it will be more *cool*, because it is displayed anytime ...

One question about screen saver. Sometimes softkeys dysplaying ( inbox(left) and menu(right)) during screen saver why? and is it possible to hyde them so they will not appear on the screen during the svreen saver???
Ang last one. This is an idea. Is it possible to cut the timing off when messages dysplaying such as NEW TEXT MESSAGE RECEIVED. It's staying on the screen too long about 5 or 7 seconds, is it possible to make it 2 or 3 seconds???
And how is with battery care? is this "Screen Saver" battery friendly?? (takes to many energy?) or it still without changes??

I know one guy who is ready to test screen saver with new refreshment period which will make screensaver faster.
Could you please tell me what do we need to change in that patch to make it faster.

Screen Saver:
Yes, it is an instant patch. I just insert a drawImage command without any other function modification. Those slow and displaying button image are located in some other firmware place. My next idea about this screen saver is using my own drawAnimation procedure (I found it somewhere in the firmware for displaying the Screen Style images), and just wait until we press something before coming back to the normal phone status.
Battery? I don't know. I think it is not increasing the processor load, but, again I don't know... Maybe, we can use blank images to save battery from displaying black pixels ? I don't know either ...
Tester... No, I am not talking about that. I can do it by myself. I have no problem with killing my own SL.
BTW, the idea to use my own displayAnimation procedure is also eliminating this problem.
Other request and ideas:
I hear, write down and think about them. But, I can not write my comment for each of them. If I have a solution, I will post it here, and hope all of us happy with that. Also... if somebody else have their own solution, please share it with us. We will loose nothing by sharing them right?

Today, my SL45 has a little problem. I wonder if it causes by these patches or just bugs of firmware 56. The problem is when I reply a message and select "Answer is YES" option, the phone goes hang and I can't turn it off. To turn it off, I have to take the battery out.

Old patch has bugs. After key locked, unlock it. After that, try to press left soft key for a long time. Nothing happened... Normally, it will give you your left soft key shortcut right?

Operator Logo:
1) No. It is not using full 101x80 bitmap size. It use 101x47 bitmap images. If you apply this patch completely (patch for address 0x4B.... is modifying the image size, from 80 to 0x2F=47), then you will get the animated operator logo displayed together with signal level, battery status, date/time, and button remark.
2) Like I said, it use (modified size) firmware bitmap in the position no. 648 until 657 ... I still unable to modify the size of screen style to be used by the patch, and also I still don't know where is the function need to be called (by the patch) for loading any images saved in the MMC.
3) Yes, it is not displayed anytime. I still use keypad lock function to insert these animated images. Previously it was displayed in the idle time (means: anytime). But, there was a bugs which I can not solve it yet. So, I do publish this patch, insted of that patch.

Wow - animated logo as screensaver! Great patch again RizaPN! I think this one is even better than "Style Image". But I have some question. At address 0x3B37F6 there are orginaly "E6 F9 55 01" not "DA E5 02 4B" as have you written. I have modified it anyway and everything is working great. However, I have found such pattern "DA E5 02 4B" at address 0x3B36C0 and have modified it, just for curious.;) In result there is animated logo not only when keyboard is locked but all the time :cool: but no signal level is displayed :( I guess that "DA E5 02 4B" is call to procedure which display signal level. and "DA C7 20 D1" is call to your own procedure which display animated logo, right? What shall I do to have animated logo all the time and signal level displayed? Would it be enough to call "DA E5 02 4B" from logo procedure? I would try it by myself, but I no nothing about 166 assembler.

Thank's for the correction. It was copied from the old operator logo patch (not published), from address 0x3B36C0.
And yes, we can modify that address (0x3B36C0) to call the logo function (DA C7 20 D1 --> its assembler is : calls 0C7h, 0D120h = calls 0C7D120h), but with some bugs. That logo will not be cleared, even after we push any button right? That's why I was not publishing that patch (show animated logo in the idle time), but the keypad locked ones ...

For anyone who really like to have their own keypad character sequence (for non-english or combination text input), the start address of those sequence is : 0x185BD4 ...
Each character is saved in word format (for example 61 00 for 'A'). Please search the code of your needed character, and put it wherever you like.

One question about that patch.
I would like to make a it easier.
I would like to take function from SCREEN SAVER PATCH, which is taking pictures from our startup animation (SCREEN STYLE animation), ang put this function inside SLOW Animated Operator Logo patch instead function which is taking pictures from flash.
So basically i want SLOW Animated Operator Logo patch to take pictures from SCREEN STYLE animation.
But i don't know where are those functions.
It would be easier for everyone, because if we want to change that logo animation we don't need to modify flash, just load another SCREEN STYLE animation.
But we will need to put in screen stile animation pictures with
size 101x48 and that screen style takes up to 40 images!!!
Riza, please tell us what offsets we need to edit.

Even it is not easy, but yes, it is possible ...
1) We need to know where is the drawImage with array buffer as a parameter location. All images patch which I used before is using drawImage function with image flash Index as a parameter. I know drawImage(imgIndex,x,y) function entry-point, but I don't know drawImage(imgBuff,x,y) ones.
2) We need to know, how is "Load Screen Style" takes images and copy them to the buffer to be able to increase the number of total copied images (10->40 or even more).
3) If we don't know them (1 and 2), we still able to do that, if we know how to determine image size for drawImage() function. Screen style has also their own imageIndex but with predetermine image size (101x80). We need to modify screen height to become 48, and only 10 images.
My [next] idea about that:
*) Use Load Screen Style function to copy all needed images to the buffer (to minimize the low-level flash modification),
*) If the image height is 80, then it will be copied into the Screen Style buffer. If it is 48, it will be copied into the Animated Operator Logo buffer ...
---> Need to be searched : Load Screen Style entry-point and free images buffer ...

Like I said: if we use that patch, it means, we use 101x80 image size. There is no image_height parameter in that function, and even we load 101x48 images as a Screen Style, the image height is always set to 80 (with additional "white" area) ... That's why we need to get another function: set the image height on the fly ...

I can use the keyboard shortcuts e.g. Menu 9-1-1 for all Menu Entries. Before the patch, it was not possible to access the Menu Settings via keyboard short cut, because it was on position 10. No chance to access it. Now it is back on position 9, right where it belongs.

A simple request about the ring tone composer.
A known "feature" is enabled there, that removes the pauses.
It does not allow to save the pauses at the end of the file to allow a pause after the melody is played, so it sounds crap.
As far as i know, it should not be very difficult to disable it.

I have been trying all evening to get the Slow Animated Logo v04 to work. I have done it 4 times, still no luck.
I always get this VERY SAME problem:
If I load a bin file, only edited with hexa-edit for the changes of the patch, and without changed bitmaps to proper size, I get not patch, which is (I think) expected, and NO malfunctions (see below what I mean).
When I load the same bin file, but with edited images to 101x47 in correct indexes (replaced with ffmod, tried both versions available), I get problems with SIM access, showing wrong capacity (120 Avail/ 365 free!!!!!!!!!), and uncountable "Illegal Entries" when browsing the SIM Location.
Any ideas what could be the cause? I say again, that I correctly hexa-edit the flash file...

*) You have to modify all written address. That remark give you info about modifying the character code sequence (see the table for character and ringtone ID). If you don't care about the sequence, keep all the same with my patch, then you just need to modify all values like my patch, no additional modification needed.
*) Yes, read again my info. You need to put each character code (or symbol group) at the end of each name, and use VIP setting for them.

i would say i'll go back and start fresh again..
and the eisiest i've found was to use the SLIK5601w.EXE(v56 winswup)
then to start each patch or just arranged all favored into groups
this time keep tracks such as
27original.bin---- 27mod_01.bin
3Boriginal.bin---- 3Bmod_01.bin ,3Bmod_02.bin, mod_03.bin...
make a note to each mod(modify)file just tell myself whats i have done to my SL.
small reset---- use XXoriginal.bin
big reset---- use winswap or fullflash

Not all functions could be done perfectly paralelly with playing MP3. Almost all MMC function has different result from the normal/idle condition. Some of function could even turn the phone off...

I'll just share some inputs...
When you are trying to send an SMS you cannot use the ADDRESSBOOK, in effect, you cannot also use the SIM_LOCATION! bcoz the phone reads the ADDRESSBOOK first before going to the SIM-LOCATION even if there are no entries on it.... sigh!!!
but anyway, you can send SMS by replying to a message in the inbox or by just entering the number itself!!!

(1) When in Addr Book we push on somebody with a few phones, SL45 gives us a list of a phones, and then we choose which phone to phone. But when ther is only one phone, SL45 phones immediately.
So the question is: can U do the patch that makes SL45 list a phone in all cases (if a person has one phone, SL45 will list it to me, and on a second touch it will phone).
(2) Can U do: when pressing (for a long) on PTT button on hands free, the MP3 pleyer starts?

I have finaly gotten the SLOW Animated Operator Logo v04 to work. The problem was being created by ffmod. When I modified the images of a full-flash file, I could not get any indication about addresses being modified, and had problems (see previous post in the same thread). Then I decided to go for the patrial-flash method. The ffmod was giving two files one for the 0x000000 and one for the 0x4B0000. When I loaded both to the phone I got shut-down immediately after log-on to network (different problem than when modifying full-flash, see my previous post for details). Then I thought that image files are all in the 0x400000 address, so there was really no need to modify the 0x000000, and only loaded the second file (for 0x4B0000), and restored previous 0x000000. BINGO, now it works fine. There is something about ffmod that changed addresses that it shouldn't, somewhere in the 0x000000...
RizaPN, you are right, there is no need to ask unless we give our best try... In addition, YOU ARE THE BEST, I was waiting for a patch that would allow multi-task while mp3-playback in progress for 2 years that I own the phone. It works great... If I ever meet you in real life I will buy you a beer!!!

how did you get the 6M *.bin file? if you got it by d/ling from your SL with the UniSiemens.. when you want to u/l it back(after applying patchs) you need to set the flash size to 5F0000 Not 600000 !!
well if it was then you could try to use the 5601.EXE winswup file or the Full Backup ones and see how it goes.

I noticed today, that when I tried to change the contrast of the phone's screen, although the setting really changes (noticeable difference) the indicator number remains "3". I am pretty sure that it is caused by one of the patches, though I can't trace which, as it is not convenient to start undoing the 12 patches applied one by one...
Does anybody else has this problem? It is not really important, and I don't really care about it, but I thought I should post it.
Know somebody how I can patch FW in WinXP ??
UniSiemen works only with W98 I think.

i would reflash v56 and redo it again
only about 5 files @ address 270000, 450000, 3A0000, 3B0000 and 4B0000 after you reflash then you can get one each of an original for backup or use for reseting your phone. HTH
Applyed many keys patches and # key, band selection, doing somthing while MP3. All Ok with contrast! :)

It could be long pressing of RED_BUT replacing short click or displaying a question before exiting just like in C55?

It makes me furious when I write a message and then accidently press RED Button and SMS is gone! :mad:

And what about Long-SMSes, but without having to use Java-Midlet?

Hi RizaPN and all the members of this Forum... I am very glad that there are some ppl who made this phone work for US in a right way. I applied all the patches that RIZA has given us, and everything works all'righty now. RESPECT to Riza.
The question is: If we could make the Sent SMS not stay on the display after sending it, but being put in the Archive folder... That would be nice, cuz (for me at least) is much of a problem always push the RED button after sending an SMS. If applyed this patch, we could Send an SMS, and after sending, have it automatically in our Archive folder, and have a direct access to it later (for ex. if it doesn't get to our friend, so we could send it later on once again, just from the Archive folder...) Is anyone else interested?
@-=RIZAPN=-, if it ain't much of a work for you, would you be so nice to look up this stuff?

If SMS sending failed it will be saved in the outbox even sent SMS is automatically saved there...
have you tried observing that?
perhaps he doesnt want to fill his outbox with unneccessary stuff, so, perhaps he is to lazy to delete them or archive them by hand ;)

The original experiment is having 15 menu items (change address 0x467E5B with FE). But, after doing dome test, some of menu item is not possible to be executed using Voice Command. I have no idea, why it is happened.
If you want, you can add and test them by yourself. Here they are :

Exit from MP3 player via handsfree is my everyday dream. It is very ucomfortable now to call if you already listening MP3! :(

Absolutely right! My SIM-card holds only 10 messages at once, so it is much of a problem to delete them from Outgoing every time.

Can somebody (RizaPN)..., make a patch that can be show the name of the active profile on screen (like Nokia Mobiles)? That is very usefull i think, because many times we forget what profile we have on our SL45...
Only the profile name under the operator name or logo.

- calls dialled showing date & time.
- calls missed from same number sequentially showing the number of missed calls (now it shows the last missed call - i wouldn't know how many times the caller called)
- processing SMS faster.

Delete all contacts from ADDRESSBOOK (move to SIM):
1) - Work with SMSes is very fast
2) - If you want send sms and you input phone number, numbers are quickly shown from SIM

I have been using the patch that allows "multi-tasking" while listening to mp3z lately . I have found the following incovenience:
When trying to send a SMS, and try to enter a number stored in Addressbook, the phone gets and error, as the MMC is occupied by the mp3 function. In addition, although the proper patch has been applied and works otherwise, the phone will not access the SIM at second try, as it hasn't accessed the MMC at first (phew, I said it...)
Can we modify the patch that gives access in turns to Addressbook and Sim Location for entering stored numbers at SMS, so that the SL firstly accesses the SIM, and secondly the MMC? I have most of my contacts on both SIM and MMC so that if I use another mobile, I can have my contacts "in it" without doing anything, so accessing SIM firstly would completely solve the problem. I believe that many people do the same, so this would significally improve the usability of the "Doing other things while MP3" patch. To be reallistic, most propably someone would like to read/reply SMS, while listening (and then see the time, access the calendar, change profile, or activate divert...), so this would be VEEEEEEEEEEEERY convenient... and propably easy to make for patchers (does this word exist?)...
...The better solution is to make a entry in Sim Location on left Select
