The most probablly thing, itīs that Sl45 buzzer wonīt stand such effort. SL45 buzzer very, very weak...

Yes, it might work... But where could be found a buzzer with those capabilitys and also compatible with SL45 hardware?
I guess thatīs the most difficult thing. Maybe with some Russian help this goes on...
I refer Russians, because theyīre very good on tunning phones, but others too (Croatian, Servian, etc... and of course Chinese).
Maybe it's possible to put a 3510's buzzer on SL45 ?
I don't know if the speaker is also the buzzer on SL45
like on A35 A40...

The SL45 does not use a buzzer. It uses the loudspeaker to create the ring. Its all in the way the thing is wired and there is no way you will get polyphonic ring tones with firmware modifications.
From the service manual:
"The SL45 has no ringer component. Responsible for the audio output of the ringer tones is the loudspeaker. The ringer tones are generated by a signal RINGIN from the EGOLD+ (Miscellaneous M11). This signal goes to the mono audio amplifier inside the Schalke-ASIC."
Which basically means, no way, no how.
I think it is quite possible

Hi All...
As you know we can use BIN file as our SL ringtone (use ffmod or any other MelodyChanger s/w). Data stored inside that BIN file is : frequency and duration (fL fH dL dH ==> freq_in_word dur_in_word). Using this format, actually we can use not only MIDI like ringtone (MIDI has only some predetermined frequency with some fixed duration), but also (in my opinion) WAV like format.
I don't have any experience with that format (freq+duration) to create WAV like, but I have some experience with that BIN file (for ringtone). So, if anyone has that kind of information, maybe we can share, and create some "unusual" ringtone for our phone ...

That's why I post that. If someone know how to convert WAV file to a sequences of frequency and duration data (WAV is a sequence of voltage/amplituda), then yes, it is possible.

Your request/question is not so clear for me. If you want to know each ringtone location or address, you just need to use ffmod, open your BIN file, and it will displayed in the screen. If it is not displayed, then press Search button ... Is that you want to know?

We can listen WAV files by mean of pulse width modulation. I can convert WAV to the format FREQUENCY and DURATION. But can you tell me how fast SL45 can change FREQUENCY and hov many data (FRQ, DUR) can be in a melody?

The minimum delay between frequency is 1 ms (I never try this, but I did try 10 ms and it was OK). The maximum number of data is depend on us (and the free area inside our flash). It can be long enough (but not 1MB for sure), but it will decrease the total capacity to be used by other ringtones/melodies.

Thank's. But, i think, without changing the phone software we can not do something. Because for PWM we need a very high frequency (more than 50KHz) and for generating sound wave we must change not a frequency, but width of the impulse where frequency is constant (50 KHz or more).

am i right that 1ms is 1/1000s = is 1000Hz is 1kHz. so it is impossible to get a wave with the normal ringer format. but the ring is made by the normal loudspeaker, because the sl doesn't have a buzzer. maybe it is possible to louden the speaker for .vmo files and let these files ring.

there are not much service manuals from siemens with that ... because siemens phones will be changed out if they are broken ... and not repaired (understand me? *gg*)
maybe it is possible to louden the speaker, because for ringing it is loud enough, so we can pull up the volume for .vmo files in the same level as for ringing tones.

Thank' for answer, but is you have some idea how to make the sound loud by the software? I think, that without hardware changing ist hard to do, besause amplifiers for RINGIN singnal and for EPP1_FIL-EPN1_FIL may be different.
well, riza or anyone else: is there a possibility for screwing up the volume of .vmo files ect. and playing them as ringing tones? the speaker problem would be solved with e.g. a s55 speaker for about 6,90 euros...
i think the polyphonic ringtones would be a very useful feature, much more useful than graphic menu (anyway - good work ;))
so perhaps we could keep that project running...

It will be great!!! A SL45i with polyphonic ringtones.
I've got an Idea:
Can't you make wiring with a Transistor. One output or input (I know nothing about electronic :D ) of this thing goes to the battery and one to the speaker. Another one goes to the point where is the output from the ringtones. And when a ringtone (only a ringtone!!) is playing the voltage, which goes to the speaker, is higher. So it will be louder. I don't know, if its possible, but I think.;) But there is already the Problem, that the ringtone isn't polyphonic. But there will be a way, I think!!!
PS: Sorry for my bad English. I'm only 14 and from Germany. I'm learning at the moment.
does anyone have a link to another set of Look a like polyphonic tones previously posted on this thread?

Yes itīs a good idea for a very good phone...
But we need to conform our selves that new phones appeard and we canīt keep upgrading our SL45iīs, well we can, but...
i think it's worth keeping sl45i up-to-date just till siemens gives us a well-designed, compact phone with mp3-player, poly-tones and java...and i dont talk about sx1, i hate that bone...

Already came out the SL55... Itīs the SL45 newest brother...
And yes, Sx1 itīs very ugly...
I don't care if it is a very old phone I love it it has class and stile unlike any other phone. In the future the only phones I am interested in buying are SIEMENS SX1 (cool phone) and the NEONODE N1(I think it's something out of Star Trek).

No really. I know thereīs some things that miss on SL55.
I love SL45, but today for my personal use, I got Nokia 6610.
I was a owner (repairer / unlocker) of SL45i for many time, and today I still have some to do test on it.
Like I said, was the greatest phone of his time... But now newest phones are leaving SL45 behind...
Iīll do everything I can to help RizaPn and ValeraVi to enable Polyphonic tones. But as you may have heard, thereīs something wrong with SL45 ringer (always was something wrong). And now thereīs no much choices in enabling those kind of sounds on SL45.
Anyway, SL45 will stay in history by being one of the greatest phones ever existed.
anyway...as long as there is no solution thats suitable for me (mp3/polyphonic tones) i'll stick to sl45i and hope!
btw.: use s55 speaker/ringer ;)

I think u all should forget the polyphonic tones on SL45, just by modifying the sw...
This needs hardware changes for sure... So who will brake some SL45īs to find a correct way of doing it with hardware change?
Anyway, one way or in the other I hope, that soon all people that want this, get their SL45 polyphonic... Honestly, I do hope...;)

I think what we need here is a sort of FFT( fast fourier transform) applied on the .wav file ( probably in matlab ) . if i remember it right, this way we transform the data from time doman(voltage/time) to frequency domain( amplitude/frequency). so, if we apply this FFT on small chunks of your .wav file, we may get what we need.
but some problems may occur:
1. is there any way to tell sl45i the amplitude of the frequency?
2. again we need multiple sound channels to produce multiple sine waves needed.

From your messege i understand that it is possible to make the sl45 sound poliphonic, but it is a bit pricy, how much and please tell me what to do (the spare parts R free for me (i know somebody who works in a gsm service) so this shouldn't be a problem, please explain to me how to do this poliphonic thing PLEASE !!!

Me personaly I can't do any of those, for the electronic part U will have to tell me where I can get those parts from(what phones) and about the pathching part U wowld have to fill in... just make a tutorial somewhere

sorry, but, i think, that is is possible (in general), but i can't make a complete solution because it is very, very complex task!
well U said something about yamaha sound chip and something for the display... how did U figure this out? and isn't anybody out there who knows something about this? c'mon let's revive this legendary phone. Think how much money U will make from anybody who will want to make their sl45 color and poliphonic(just for the soldring and stuff, not for the tehnical specs to do that) plus U will make everybody gealous at your brand new tuned sl45 :D
I think it's possible too and that the great SL45 allredy have that capabilities. I mean that "THEY" don't make the compleetly new phones. There are things that they found out years ago and who knows when will that inovations be unnounced or used. So, who know's what our SL45 hide's in itself. I would be very proud to have my two SL's with color dispaly and GPRS.
I think it's possible too and that the great SL45 allredy have that capabilities. I mean that "THEY" don't make the compleetly new phones. There are things that they found out years ago and who knows when will that inovations be unnounced or used. So, who know's what our SL45 hide's in itself. I would be very proud to have my two SL's with color dispaly and GPRS.
Wouldn't U like it to be poliphonic too?
If anybody has some experience in the electronics please post here.
and another question.... why can't we make the ringer an mp3 or a vmo file only whith louder volume, it shouldn't matter that the sl has a mono apmlifier(I mean isn't it ljust like a pc, when we listen to a mono mp3 file we still hear the vioce and other things?)

Realize it: It is NOT possible for us to play polyphonic tones /and or modify the SL45 with color display. Yes, manufactures can do this. But its like building a whole new phone.

I remembered a long discussion thread of the same question. MP3 playing through the speaker - well I forgot the link. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE :mad
I think that it is possible, becouse, when U listen the MP3 trough stereo headphones and somebody calls U the ring sounds cool. So, we can use the electronic from the headphones and install it in the phone. We wont have stereo any more but have mp3. I will try that.

Hey rizza couldn't U do a patch so that when the phone rings the mp3 sings instead of the normal ringer? or not just mp3 maybe wmo instead only whith a louder volume ??? :confused:
