View Full Version : Huawei E172 - how do i enter unlock code?
I have the e172 and i've received the unlock code, i had installed the original vodafone software and placed an o2 sim in the usb dongle, but although it comes up with o2, it won't let me connect (or try to put in the unlock code) as it's looking for a vodafone connection... what do i do to fix it?
also, what are logs?

yes, it's the huawei e172 usb modem that i'm trying to unlock... i have the unlock code and when i insert the usb into my computer, its tryin to connect to the internet, it isn't allowing me the option of saying, this isn't the regular sim, you need to place a code in to unlock it!
How do i get to that?

Once i have the data card unlocked, how do i connect the device onto the internet.... does it use the original software (which in this instance is vodafone) or do i download software from the network i'd like to use (orange)? Or do i use an independant software?
Please someone help, as i'm new to usb web cards and i'm relying on your experience and knowledge. I've not had many replies and i don't understand why.... am i posting questions in the wrong place... or have these questions already been answered (i've tried the search facility and couldn't find anything)... i've also asked what 'logs' are and i'm still none the wiser... would any of you care to help me out?

I am in the same situation as you... I can enter the pin and then I can chose all company net, but when I confirm the use, it says that "I have no permission to use the net".

AT^cardlock="xxxxxxxx" where xxxxxxxx is your unlock code
this must work on all Huawei modems for send the unlock code

sorry but how can I enter that line on the modem? Create a txt file and add somewhere on the modem? please specify, thanks!
flash to unbranded dashboard,insert non original sim card,and the mobile partner ask for you the unlock code

ok, I updated the usb modem with the update exe that came into the vodafone cd (Vodafone E172 firmware 11.213.02.00.00).
May be it would have been possible to enter the unlock key with the previous firm, but now its impossible to go back...
Where to get an umbranded dashboard? no need for any box, right?

I've downloaded a non branded software as i think this is the route i've to take... i'll uninstall the original vodafone software but how do i brand the modem with non branded software??
sorry.... how do i 'flash' the modem with non branded software???

use terminal or what you want to send it ....

Am i using winscp to put in the AT command? I understand it's a simple command but i don't know where i'm inserting it!!!
If i use WinSCP, do i connect, then use command, then insert the AT command?

@cals use hyperterminal to send the code,or download unbranded dashboard from huawei site,flash it,insert non accepted card,and the Mobilepartner ask for the code

where do i find out the orange settings for the card? Such as the APN (do i use the orange settings i know, orangeinternet, user, pass?)
The cards asking for
Dymnamic or Static (i'm assuming its Dymnamic)
APN - would this be orangeinternet
Authentication
access number - i'm not sure what i put in here... can you help?
user name - normally user for orange
password - either blank or pass for orange
Am i on the right track for my settings other than the access number?

I phoned Orange and they've been unhelpful and told me the specialist people who deal with the usb dongles wont give me the apn settings as it's already preloaded into the orange dongle. Their not keen to help at all..
...can anyone help with orange apn settings please?

I haven't properly used it yet, but needed it for the settings after installing Windows 7 on my 901Go - which, btw, runs like a charm!
