For removing this bug you must re-install not only Update for Win98, but also and V_KLay for Win2000/XP too!!!. The changes, that fix this bug is in file V_SL4x.ldr, and this file included only in installation pack for WinXP. Sorry...

Its very strange. I recheck all with my SL45i and all working!. Can you describe more about yours hardware and software: what data cable yo use (USB->COM, or original SL45 dock station, or...). Also, is you know program HHD Serial Monitor (http://www.hhdsoftware.com/sermon.html) It will be very great, if you send me a .log file from this program of COM1 while you working with V_KLay on COM1 in case where you get a error.

if i patch it, vklay read tthe adresses 1F0000 and 4B0000,
the error comes, if vklay want to write 1F0000. Vklay showes first "write 1F0000", then "write1F2000", then "write1F4000" and then the error message comes!
I use an original data-cable, system WinXP.
i will send you my serial-log-file!
i hope, you can help me!

I've an idea, to make your great vklay better.
If you start a patch, then vklay read a part of the flash of the mobile phone (1F0000 f. e.), then it control, if this bit are the same of the undo-ones, if not, than you get a message:
i think, it would be better, if you can save the readed bits, before vklay write the patch.
Because if you use a lot of patches, than you have not the original flash, so you can not use the undo-function.
But if you could save the old readed parts, than you have always a undo-function.
Is it possible?

This is possilbe. But this method have no sence, because if you use patch on non original firmware the developer of that patch CAN NOT guaranty that this patch will be working fine!! This is why RizaPN and other make almost each next patch in adresses, where older patches not changing anything... And if hi make new version of patch hi ask you to uninstal previous (replase prev. patch with ORIGINAL values for ORIGINAL firmware) patch.

If after update you got a error Bad .ldr format you
must use new ldr files. This files exist only in latest install package for WinXp on my web mage http://www.valeravi.tk - download, reinsatll the program, then overwrite exe in insalled forder with that v2.1.2...

Just a question: it would be possible comparing my "normal" flash with my "modded" one to find all modified data and create a VKP patch file with all patches that i applied to my firmware?
This file would be quite useful to apply in just one passage all patches to a normal flash.

Instruction of how to use "Flasher" tab:
Flasher tab is intended for writing / reading of memory of phone. Generally the order operation such:
- Select a functional mode: Set "Work with" "Phone". Select Com port where your phone is connected and select the baud rate (default: 115200).
- Go to the tab "Flasher".
- In section "Memory of the phone" set the initial address ("From Address") and a block length ("Size") of memory of phone with which we shall work.
Reading of memory of phone.
- Press "Read Memory" to read the data from memory of phone in the buffer of the program.
- Press "Save File..." to save the programs given from the buffer in the file.
Writing of memory of phone.
- Press "Open File..." to load the data from the file in the buffer of the program.
- Press "Write Memory" to write the data from the buffer to the memory (flash) of phone. This operation is influenced with the number written in field "Offset" of the section "Buffer of the program". This number specifies the address in the buffer with which to start to read the data from the buffer for writing in phone. For example. Is present full flash (the size 0x600000) from which needs to be written in phone only the data for eeprom. It is necessary for this purpose:
• load this full flash in the buffer (press " Open File...");
• write in field "Offset" the address of the data for eeprom in the loaded file - 0x5f0000;
• write in field "From Adress" of the section "Memory of phone" eeprom address in phone - 0x5f0000;
• write in field "Size" of the section "Memory of phone" a size eeprom in phone - 0x010000;
• press "Write Memory" to write the data from the buffer of program to the eeprom in the phone. Thus will be written only data from the file from 0x5f0000 (that is indicated in field "Offset") size 0x010000 (that is indicated in field "Size" of the section "Memory of the phone"), rest data of the file will not be written. On other operations the number in field "Offset" does not influence.
In Flasher the buffer one for all - in him it is possible to read out the file or the data from phone, from him it is possible to write in the file or in phone. E.g. it is possible to write a piece of flash from one phone to another without need to save it to file. Only before disconnecting each phone it is necessarily press "Turn ON". Whitout this you phone do not turned ON until you do not make disconnecting, then connecting phones battery.
If you have selected a functional mode "File with part of Flash" - and if you select for this a fullflash. Then by means of tab "Flasher" you may get from it a pieces or write to him other pieces of another flash file (that is loadded in the buffer by mean of button "Read file..." in the "Flasher" tab.

The old data is exist in the patch! It is no need to read and save his.
If old data from patch is not exist in phone you MUST DO NOT APPLY THE PATCH!! (read forum and you see that if some people ignore this error hi has A BIG TROUBLE!!!) May be if future version i disable possibility of write new data if old if not found AT ALL.
If you want to apply new patch over old - FIRST UNDO OLD PATCH!
If you have a many patch in you phone - you MUST remember all what you apply (create a separate folder on your HDD and save to his all paches that currently you have in you phone), and if you want to aplly new patch - undo previous!!!

than i must save it (270000 size 10000)before i try the new patch, to have a backup.
But it is complicated.
I tkink it would be better, if i can save this while the reading bofore writing the new patch!

What you said i remember and may be in a future, when i will have more free time i implement some functions for developers... :)
But at this time you may use utility from Chaos (see prev. pages of thread) for comparing .bin files and making a .vkp from result of this comparing....

Hi! I've tried ur program on my ME45 and works great. I just wonder... I made a program called "SieFlash" and sometimes it's unstabil for writing flash. I used TComPort 2.64 component for Delphi. If I may know... what component did u use for V_Klay ?

Hello! Thanks for good words about my prog. :) I know your "SieFash", it support many types of phones... :)
V_KLay i wrote in MS Visual C++ 7.0. I do not use any component and wrote my own class for access to the phone. This class use general Win32 function in overlapped mode for COM port. If you interesting in it - say.
Also for CBuilder and Delphi in my other projects i use TurboPower Async Professional v4. And i do not found any problem with it. But, officially, its not free :)

Thanks to your nice and usefull program V_Klay, I not only installed many usefull patches, but even managed to found my way in changing the "Greek keyboard layout" !.

Your advice of NOT using that part of the program for non English and Russian keyboards is CORRECT !

BUT using the relevant ".ini" files as a 'map' or 'guide' I found out the addresses for the Greek keyboard layout and tables describing them and I changed them to better fit for Greeks.
Actually it follows the English layout, and it is the one ...destroyed during your program's changes...

But never the less, it helped me do what I wanted !

My real question though is about the 2 different keyboard layouts I saw in your web site, the one with 'abc2xxx' and the other with 'xxx2abc' where 'xxx' are the Russian letters.

Things are very similar for Greek case. I could do the 2 different layouts, one when you choose the English as menu language and the other when you choose Greek ( or Russian for you ) as menu language ( and T9 also ).
I can borrow some space from the area used for Arabic ( unicode 06 page ) or Hebrew ( unicode 05 ) which are of no use for Me !

BUT is there any patch that has implemented a shortcut to change the keyboard layout from the one with Latin first to the other ? ( without changing menu language !) Just with some special key combination from the keyboard.

I am asking that, because your people may have put the same question for your case ( Russian keyboards ). And of course if it happens to know if something like that has been done...

You see it is convinient when you write something in Latin, these letters to come first from keyboard, while when you write something else in Greek (Russian) you need that letters to come first from keyboard....

You may try to remove from
V_KLay_SL45i_fw5601_EnglishLayout.ini
some section for storage blocks (may be [KeysStorageBlock0001] and [KeysStorageBlock0002]) that is in area of greek layout.
Also you must check the ".ini" file inside archive with patch - this ini also must not include storage block in area of greek layout.
Also i don't known is this patch is working if you select the greek menu language.

Do you mind sharing some info about the patch "Allow you to use 2 keyboard layout" ?

First of all what I can see is that addresses 4AExxx and 4B3xxx you are changing some pictures probably showing the state of the keyboard.
Since we have 2 layouts and 2 'states' - that is "small" and "capital" letters - that goes for 4 states totally although I can see 6 pictures changing.....
Probably I could see what are they, when I apply changes for these addresses. I might need to change them , so I am trying to figure out their meaning....

You have put your program code in the unused area at 27EAyy , where after some searching.... I can spot the addresses of the 2cd layout ( probably "small" and "capital" states ) here :

as the addresses 600E and 60BC of block 18 appear reversed... and with offest 4000 .

At Addresses 364Czz probably the redirection to the new program code area happens and also at the single 509BEB.

But I can't understand the "shifting" it happens at 364C98
where by the way that E41C appears....
What could be the meaning of that ?

All what I am trying to do , is modify the patch for using as a 2cd layout the Greek keyb layout at 5E12 ( or "12 1E" ) for "small" and at 5E58 ( or "58 1E" ) for "capital" of block 18.
As the 1st layout it would be again the English as in your case,
although I might prefer it vice versa ( 1st Greek - 2cd English ).
That is I will not use an "unused" keyboard location for the switching.

I feel that it would not be sufficient only to change the spoted offsets at 27EA60 & 27EA68 .
Can you help me on this ?

( It doesn't matter where exactly the Unicode codes for the characters at each key are residing as those tables at 5E12, 5E58 and at 5CE4, 5D2C describe them correctly ! I have found out the way they work !)

All is more simple that you describe above:
1. Apply this gread patch (2 layouts) from Chaos!
2. In Keyboard Layout tab of V_Klay, load
"V_KLay_SL45i_fw5601_EnglishLayout.INI"
press "load layout from flash" delete all letters after numbers, for ex.: you have "abc2...." - after delete: "abc2". This you edit the 1-st - ENGLISH layout.
3. Press "Write layout to flash"
4. In Keyboard Layout tab of V_Klay, load
"2_Keyboard_Layouts_with_Rus_standard.ini"
press "load layout from flash" delete all russian leters and write GREEK letters, for ex.: you have "PCTY6" - after replacement: "_greek_letters_6". This you edit the 2-nd - GREEK layout.
5. Press "Write layout to flash"
6. Select MainMenu->Setup->Device->Language->Greek. And you also have a menu on greek....

Thats all - in SMS editor you can now swtitch layouts by mean or # key:
To switch to other layout:
press # once - if you NOT USE T9 in the phone
press # twice - if you USE T9 in the phone.

P.S. to use Keyboard Layout tab of V_Klay you must use V_KLay for WinXP/2000.

This is definitely the easy way on doing something like that. I would like to ask you if there is also an easy way to put greek instead of russian in the patch i found in your program (v_klay) which is called V_fw5601_FastSearchSMS_Rus_Eng_no_standard2_layout _v1 or V_fw5601_FastSearchSMS_Eng_Rus_standard_layout_v2
I know that i've asked this again and you tried to help me but i think that was the hard way :) I didn't manage it so i'm looking for the easy way. ThanX :)

For patches, that you ascking is no easy way like i post above :( sorry... For changing this pathes you must use hex editor... Try to ask about this to Dspmobile - he is also want a greek in mobile and seems he understang how to change layouts in fullflash...
Also this instruction may help to you and him to understand how to change V_fw5601_FastSearchSMS_Eng_Rus_standard_layout_v2 to greek...

I have this habbit, not to try a patch ...see what it does and then try to make any corrections... , but try to understand what it should do from the begining.... just to be ready for what I have to expect ( I don't like surprises !)

As the great patch is now, it will use as default the "English" (abc2... ) layout, and this can be done if you choose English as menu language. There if I press # I will have what I wanted but NOT the menu in Greek as you say in step 6....

IF instead I choose Greek as menu language, it will use the layout with greek (....2abc ) which I have already changed because of missing Greek capital letters .
There, since it will use descriptions for keys from adresses at 5E12 ( or "12 1E" ) for "small" and at 5E58 ( or "58 1E" ) for "capital", it will never go to your 2cd layout ( what ever you put there ) I think !

Sure I understand now, since it is using some fancy way to show the state of keyboard, that 2cd layout bust be as it is from key descriptions at 600E (or 0E 20 ) and 60BC ( or BC 20 ).

BUT how I cound use as the 1st layout the "official" Greek chosen also as menu language , that satisfies me know, instead of the proposed named "English" layout ?

Sure I could use your nice program to change this 2cd layout !
For the Greek one I have already done it, although the "hard way". I could change the .ini file, to do it as I understand now, but in my implementation space usage is optimized !

For me all what i write above is working (even when i select greek menu language (step 6)).
When you install pacht from Cahos and then select greek menu language and press # for toggilng layouts (when icons changed from "abc" to "àáâ") what layuots you have for each case? or layout is not toggling?

Well, I was really busy during last days, so I just now tried the "2cd layout". I had no doubt it could work BUT something troubles me, ( in my case for Greek).

For one thing, I could not make fully what I wanted for the 2cd layout, since there was not enough space.

Probably since in that patch keys for "+" and "0" were changed just to get the remaining chars from the original "#' key ,
leaving there only #. That wastes somehow valuable space I needed for the whole English-Greek "abc2xxx" layout.
Also I had to redirect to that definition the Greek key table just to be the same in both keyb layouts.

Is this a needed change for the patch to work ?
I mean that if you can 'activate' the 2cd layaout by for example "Green" key plus '#' key then it may be possible to leave the normal assignment of "#@\&..." in that key.
Then I would have the needed space since there is no need to redefine those key assignments.

Is that possible ?

I would like to know if it is possible to build a patch so that the phone will switch On by itself as soon it is connected to a charger but also switch off by itself when disconnected from the charger.

It seems to be a tweak comming from the car profile but I can't find any infomations about it...
