Hi!, tough it's my first post here and English is not my mother language I'll try to make my self as clear as possible.
I have used the Search function looking for similar thread, but nothing came up.
A few days ago I inherited a V3 from my father (Nothing bad, he bought himself an N95), after a couple hour of use I noticed the AMOUNT of dirt (Split, ear wax, etc) the phone had. So I opened it up for a general cleaning.
I had previously worked with cell phones (or mobile phones, always mix them:confused:), unlocking, cleaning, flex swap, flashing, etc, and the sort of things. Even tough I tried my best to be real careful I somehow manage to snap the flex cable (Perhaps my big clumsy thumbs had something to do with it...). I realized only after reassembling everything and trying to turn it on, and having no display at all. Everything else working flawlessly, so I made a backup with MPT. No big deal, nothing patience and u$s 10 couldn't fix.
Bought a brand new original (At least that is what the gorgeous saleswoman said :D) V3 flex. Went home and replaced the dead one. Assembled the phone, inserted SIM, and a charged battery; press power key and the keypad turns on for about 5 seconds (No display, neither of them), and turn off for 3 seconds, and start blinking 1 sec ON, 2 sec OFF, and so on till I remove battery.
Here's the funny thing, if I unplug the flex cable from the display, it acts as previously described. It can send and receive phone calls, connect to MPT, etc, but no video (Of course!). So I figured out that there must be something wrong with my LCD, but nothing happened at it, not even static.
Could my LCD be short circuiting something? Or most likely I should look near the main PCB? I did clean the PCB with Alcohol and let it dry real well.
Help is GREATLY preciate, here in Argentina, cell shops aren't much of a cooperative people. They want to charge me with a standard fee just for looking at it.
The phone is nice, but not worth the expense of repairing it.
Thanks in advance.
