Hi guys,
I've done all the seaches i can and read as much as possible, and i can't find any reference to my problem, if this is a repeat, i'm very sorry (i know how annoying it is, i'm a regular on other forums)
Anyway
I've had a Siemens SL42 for a while now, and have had various problems with it.
It started out with my screen image 'folding over' on itself and thus displaying the top half (upside down) and the bottom together
So i returned it and Siemens gave me a brand new phone - i was VERY impressed with Siemens then (6 - 9 months after i originally bought the phone) plus they said my warranty was starting again with the new phone (lucky me)
A few months later my phone started playing up - it would tell me i had reception, but if someone called, they would get diverted (i had it set to divert if not on/available) - SOMETIMES i also could not call out - it would make the 'connecting' bleeps, then say no network available (even with full reception)
I took it back and got the phone fixed (they said they upgraded the firmware etc and tested it, all ok)
that very night - exactly the same problem
I took it back - got yet another new one (i know this because i scratched the phone (accidentally, of course) and the scratch was gone) - but they said they just upgraded and tested the phone again, but did not replace it (doesn't matter either way)
It worked for a while, then started playing up (same problems) again, i gave up, threw it in a box and used my old Nokia 5110 !!
Now the 5110 is driving me insane (screen blank, powering off, no predictive text, BRICK etc) so i thought i'd see if i could ressurect the SL42.
Well, it worked for a day or two (had me convinced it was a network problem) but then, again, i do not always recieve calls, and when i call out - i call once, it says 'no network' so i hit 'autodial' and it almost immediately connects on the second attempt.
I've tried a different sim card (different network too) and the phone seems to take longer than any other (i don't have another siemens to compare to) to connect to make a call- Nokias (for example) connect MUCH faster when making a call.
I also occasionally get an exclamation mark (!) in front of the network ID (ie !VODAFONE)
Anyone have any idea what might be my problem?
Suggestions would be MUCH appreciated. :)
I'm not on the internet often, but will be checking back eagerly.
Thanks for you time,
Marty
