3650 and AT&T US

I'm having a problem with the Nokia 3650 (sw: v2.54) locked to the AT&T US GSM network, when I try to enter the following codes (w/o a sim in the phone) I get a Code Error. Is there anything different about this phone that would cause these not to work?

if U typed in the wrong code in more than 5 times no code can help U
clip/cable solution can help you

I up until this point had never used any unlock codes on this phone so I don't believe that was the cause. Any other suggestions?

It's not you, it's the phone. Apparently, 3650 with firmware version 2.54 or newer are locked differently, can't be remotely unlocked by the usual DCT4 calc.

yes, it can be unlocked with a cable. i don't know any more than that.
