Did I get suckered off Ebay?

I just bought this phone off Ebay and it is for AT&T. I do not use them as my service provider. Can I use this phone once it is unlocked? If so, can I get an unlock code for this. As you might have gussed, I am very new to this so the more details the better. Thanks for your time and help with this.

This has been based on your provided IMEI Number and also the AT&T USA Network code of 310 38

Type the FULL numbered pw number into your phone's keypad (SIM in or out, makes no general difference, but for peice of mind, take it out). The number '7' code will unlock ALL Phone restrictions on your phone.

In order to obtain the p & w letters, press the * button 3 times to get P and 4 times to get W

i.e. So, type the following:

If you receive an "Invalid Code" then DO NOT proceed again - you only have 5 chances of entering the correct code.
