Use the keygen the were release for the TomTom 6 on PalmOS.

Copy the small Guam map to the card and activate it through the keygen. Now you are up and running and install for example a scandinavian MAP.

Maybe you can give a little bit more info? For example WHERE on the MS should I intstall the maps? I'm getting the message that there is no maps installed.

Startup a command prompt. Type TT6_kg_4_C4pda.exe <mapname.mid>

mapname.mid is for example guam.mid

It asks for activationcodes and enter the ones shown in tomtom when you try activate the map manually. Then enter the code that the keygen generates into tomtom.

I need to active the GB Plus map but there is no .mid file in the one I've downloaded to use the keygen. I managed to activate the Guam map ok.

Open the command window using run in the startmenu. its a bit harder but it wont close the window after you hit return. see earlier postings for instructions

I've tried but I'm on my word PC and for some reason I cant use the CD command to change to the C: directory.

edit: Ok found cmd.exe on my C drive and ran it. followed the instructions but I get the error message. cant open 'GB_plus_major_roads_of_WE'

same with me. error message: can't open "with TT6_kg_4_C4Pda.exe"

just put your usb settings to the usb mode
put the files on the memory card by using your usbcord (you don't need the filemanager in usb mode)
restart your mobile,
after a few seconds it should ask if you want to install tomtom on it ;)

Have i missed something or?? When i unpack the "cab" file i got 9 files which i copy to the MS. Then i go to install and run the sis file and it starts install and nothing happens!! Do i need more files?? Is the prg struckture not like the prg for the p910i?

Main menu -> Extras -> TomTom

You can move it (use 'more') to another folder or (If you use it often like me) replace an application at the desktop like 'call list' with a shortcut to TomTom.

Many thanks for your help, I dont have extras but thats because i don't think tomtom has installed properly. When I install using the .sis file and select 'Instal' the progress bar gets to 100% as such as if it had installed then nothing! i take it tomtom should then launch promptly after?? automatically? I'm trying to install tomtom version 6.02? does that make any difference as i have people that most people use v 6.20 on the m600i?

I took the file from http://rapidshare.de/files/36937841/Navigator6_Symbian_UIQ.rar - unzipped them and copied the subfolders (except the keygen-folder) to the root of my memorystick with a card-reader.

After reinserting to the M600i a popup asked me to install TomTom. I accepted, the install process began. After finishing I restarted the phone and found the shortcut at 'tools' :D .
TomTom started up and asked for the activation key for the actuall installed Guam-map. The code made by the keygen was accepted and TomTom started up completly.

I closed TomTom, took out the card and copied the maps I needed (germany and scandinavian) and reinserted the card. After starting TomTom again, I was able to select the new maps and just had to generate new codes for the maps. That has been all. :D

I closed TomTom, took out the card and copied the maps I needed (germany and scandinavian) and reinserted the card. After starting TomTom again, I was able to select the new maps and just had to generate new codes for the maps. That has been all. :D

The installed version from the rapidsharfolder is 6.020 .

I´ve installed it exaktly the way like it was written in this thread, but when i insert my memory stick to the P990i no pop-up window appears.
So i tried to install it manully from the stick (he finds the TomTom Navigator.sis file) and when i click it it says version 6.02 ... Then i click install and it says: security check failed, installation not possible!

Can anyone help me. I checked it out on my P910i, but here it doesn´t work :-(

a) I suggest (don't ask me how) to make a itinerary with many point of position satnav, put it on itinerary folder, and than when you start TT choose your itinerary.

To releave your position use "GPS dis" a simply and usefull application
(use red search button in this forum) with a GPS Receiver.

b) Holox BT 321 Bluetooth GPS Receiver (on Ebay around 70€) is very fast, it use SIRF III chipset and in 4-5 second (not the first time) you have your position.

I'm not aware of any software to make your own maps for countries that haven't been mapped by TomTom. This would be a big job especially for a country the size of India! Just try drawing your own town/city in your favourite paint program see how long that takes! Best check the offical tomtom website to see if there are any plans to release India maps.

hey guys. i have downloaded tt6 and all is in working order...except for the voices. there were no voices available. so i have downloaded some standard voices (jane and tim!) from the tt website. was just wondering if anyone can tell me the location of where these have to be stored. thanks.

I finally got it running too. It was such a simplet solution: I just changed my P990i (f...... s...) to a W950i and everything worked fine :D

So @ORGAZMIC to answer one of your older questions:
I just put all the files directly onto the root of the W950i and activated the cards with the keygen - that´s all!

I have followed this thread with great interest and have been abe to get the Tomotm to work on my P990. This with the guam map. but How do I get it to work with the scandinavian map? Where do I copy the map? Under which folder on the SD-card? I havent been able to sort this out. Please note that I thank all the experts that have contributed to this site.

Hi LolaSchwimmt,

You must copy all the files plus the maps of the countries you want to use on TomTom to the root of the memory stick. After you insert the memory stick into the phone it should automatically ask you if you want to install TomTom. If it does not ask you to install it go to Tools > File manager > then hit the drop down menu up top > go to Device > then select Install. It will find TomTom on your memory stick, select it and install it. It should work from there. Remember be sure to put the maps of the countries you want in a folder, then put that folder in the root of the memory stick as well. (For example download all of the North America maps > then put them all in a folder call North_America > then put that folder containing the maps in the root of the memory stick.)

What do you mean - the older version? I don't see anything similar installed in "installed" and still the tomtom does not appear to be installed...Can you explain step-by-step please?

I got my Tom Tom working fine now with UK and Ireland maps. If you can't get it to work then pu the phonr into file transfer mode and follow the instructions from the start, overwright any exisitng folders.

To everybody with same problem, you should never never never delete GUAM-Map from your device! It doesn't mention, that you do not ever work with it.

To my knowledge, TomTom 6 does not support GPRS. It only supports 3G and WLAN. The reason is because it requires a fast connection to download on-time real traffic, weather, etc.

Could anyone post a link to a valid place where I could find TT6 Navigator for SonyEricsson P990i?

I am totally lost here... I downloaded the TT6 file and unpacked it on the MS root. Now what?... How do i install the software on my p990i? When I click on install.bif file it opens the document reader :(

Also, how do i find the device id? I know how to find IMEI number but not device ID.

A friend of mine failed to activate the maps at tomtom one. Generated activation code for device-id contains spaces (xxxx xxxx xxxx), but tomtom one doesn't support this letter due activation. Ignoring the spaces doesn't help.

I upacked TT6.02 to root on my memory card, inserted it to P990i and ... nothing happened. No icon or installer popped-up, cannot find TT anywhere on application list.

I've downloaded the file for speed cameras in Sweden, but all it is is speedmarks at the camera places. Other navigators warn with a voice when you are near a camera.
Is there any other file for this?

You should have the speed cameras on your list of points of interest, activate them and in the settings you can choose the warning sound and distance from which it will give a warning

how can i find out what my device code is? i have a P990i and have got upto the point where the command prompt is asking for the device ID? any ideas?

ok, i think i have sorted this out.
when you load the files on to the P990i you run the program from the phone. Then it tells you your device code which you use in the dos prompt. then it gives you the serial code for the activation.

first... if u r only interested in UK & france maps, then u might as well download Western Europe map which includes all of Western Europe.

second... place UK & France map folders in the root of memory stick. I dont understand what u mean by old .dat files. There aren't any! Each map comes in its own folder. In tomtom u can chose to load another map. It will ask you for the key each time u load another map. so... generate the keys for UK & france & keep it in ur notepad & use when necessary.

NOTE: u dont place the map files in the tomtom folder. You place the map folder(s) in the root of the memory stick.

It is generated by the phone when you install a map.

I see above someone already asked for the South African maps.

Many people have posted with this issue.

All goes well moving the files across to the root of the MS on my P9901. I can locate the SIS file and either click that to run the install or do it through the menus as suggested.

The problem comes in that once the Install Software bit occurs, correctly identifying it is installing TomTom NAVIGATOR 6.02 it completes the bar and then appears to do nothing. No app is launched. The TomTom app does not appear where other installed apps appear, under Tools.

I believe it it because it has not installed, as if you attempt an Uninstall theere is no TomTom app listed.

This seems to be what a stack of other people have also reported.

Any ideas?

ETA: I am wondering if it could be that...

1) I do not have enough capacity on my phone, as I am running right now with only a 64MB MS
2) There is no GPS receiver attached

If perhaps a few others can help identify some trends on memory capacity and GP recs then it may help those of us who are not working figure out why. Thanks in advance.

First of all excellant forum !! Now I have the same problem as above :rolleyes: . I have a gps attached and a 2gb memory card . It maybe the handsets firmware ( I'm running the latest) as per the sonyericsson site . I've tried the 6.010 and 6.020 . The 6.020 runs the install but gives no completion
and no short cuts are in the tools menu's ,strange :confused: . You guys that have it working on your p990i what firmware are you running ??

However out tomtom6 issue is a whole another problem, i desperately want this to work cause I hate using Nav4All!!! My thinking is..im not copying the folders in the right place..people are saying the route of you memory stick? is that the main section i.e where the main folder such as pic/video/other are listed? originally i pasted them into the other folder that didnt work? then i tried to copy them on to the main section (which i think is the route) and it told me this command is not allowed?

so then i made a folder called tomtom6 in the main directory and put the files in there..this did not install either? Same problem with the install bar buliding and nothing happens! i have spent the last two days trying to fix this and im goin mad!! :eek: this is my week off work & not having much relaxation!!! :rolleyes:

Finally got the new version of TomTom 6 for UIQ3 (v 6.021 Build 8120)

New version fixes bugs and adds easier user-friendly icons.

If you already have an older version installed on your phone be sure to uninstall it first or else you can corrupt your memory stick.

Copy ALL the files to the root of your memory stick. Follow the instructions given in this TomTom 6 thread, if you are not sure how.

^^ You are a star mate! However, the GB postcode database errors I noticed in the version I have (v.504) are still present in this one :( Maybe navteq database is more accurate.

yaa i have managed to install v6.21 and its not much differences but you get the factory reset button extra.
the easiest way to install as i have done is,make a new folder on your desktop then copy your map,voice,zip in that folder from version 6.20 you are using but leave tomtom file.Now pop you memory card back in you phone and uninstall tomtom ver 6.20.
Put you card back in the memory card reader and format it.
Now download the version 6.201 from mr lxicivic4life's link unzip them or copy them to the root of you memory card.
Put you memory card back in your p990i it will ask you weather you want to install tomtom install and follow the instruction.It will say you don't have map don't worry put the memory card back in the memorycard reader again and copy your previous maps,voices,zip from the file you created in your desktop.
these way you don't need to activate your map again..
now pop back the memory in you phone and off you go with the latest version 6.201 fully functioning..as i did.

I have downloaded the TomTom 6.021 (Build 8120) on to the root of my memory card (2gb) and inserted the same into the P990i. It asked me to install the application and after installation, I got the icon under my Tools option. However when starting TomTom Navigator, my phone hangs and I am unable to go back or view other menu options. I had to physically remove my battery in order to get the phone to restart.

Any help in resolving this hanging problem would be greatly appreciated.

i bought it from ebay at £35.00 Ibt gps 32 channel.its really good with 24hrs battery life and very good signal its almost full most of the time,

Also, if ur primary use will be pedestrian, the MTK chipset (Qstarz and IbtGPS) does not perform well at all.

Put ur speed camera database (ov2 and bmp files) in the map folder.

Go here... http://tomtomsatnav.info/realvoice.html ... scroll down and download the 22050Hz ogg voice recordings. Put them in the map folder too with the same name as your ov2 files. I think i dont need to describe which ogg file you would want to play for which ov2 database. its easy.... just think and rename.

Then in tomtom, go to Manage POIs -> Warn before POI -> and select the speed camera POIs and set the distance for the warning and voila!

I ordered a GPS receiver (Model i-Blue737 32 Channel Bluetooth GPS Receiver) cost me 40quid! and it arrived and I charged it etc...paired up it with my P990 as you do. Then started up TomTom and after a few seconds it connected working lovely...just 20seconds later is lost the gps signal. A few mins later it was back I realised that the bluetooth connection was dropping of as i could see im the bluetooth status screen that the device was connected then disconnected then connecting again! this obviously makes using TomTom impossible as i went for a drive and i lost connection with my GPS every minute or so!!! :eek:

I am thinkin of returning the GPS reciever and exchanging it but is the problem with my phone or the reciever..i think its the P990!
So any advice guys? Or has the p990 has failed me for once!

Thanks for your response looks like know what the problem is..i tried to update my firmware other day and that was a total disaster. I backed up my phone 1st and then started the firmware upgrade and the software told me I had already had the latest version? i was like what im running R7? so i proceeded anyway and the update completed i switched my phone back on to find that im still running R7! i did update using the UK part of the SE website if that makes a difference?

As my phone has reset back to factory settings after my update..i tried to restore my backup and guess what it wudnt work!!! it kept saying backup failed so I had lost everything all my 3rd party apps everything! now im too scared to do that again! oh what a debacle! now i tried to backup again the other day no luck it jus keeps saying backup failed, so im thinkin im buggered it took me a whole day to get my phone back to how i wanted it!!!

as you know i am having problems with my bluetooth, maybe you have seen i in my other posts! this is do with my gps
receiver (my connection keeps dropping every minute or so)

sony p990i recommended that i update my firmware (as im running R7) to fix my bluetooth issues? as it worked you ! as explained i tried to do this and update to the latest (R9 supposedley) and did this via the update on SE website...it told me i was already running the latest firmware did it anyway and still found i was running R7!?

I have no found out that because my phone is branded to Orange i am unable to run an update bacuase my network does not allow me to do so! im now very stuck can anyone help me? Maybe the key to fixing my bluetooth is something else? im sorry if i bein bugger..but maybe someone could fill me in?

i have the latest firmware which is R4B03... always mention the Organiser version to identify the firmware... not the Phone version. Anyway, since u have a branded phone, u have to wait for organge to release a firmware update and that takes a while. otherwise get ur phone unbranded.

as for bluetooth problems... i had the same thing with qstarz 818... which is effectively the same as i-blue 737 (both use MTK chipset). even with my latest firmware i kept getting dropouts. i had to return it. Now i'm using globalsat 359 and although MTK is far better in terms of sensitivity, atleast glabalsat 359 works with my phone. Also, for pedestrian use MTK devices are useless at this point in time. They seem to have static navigation enabled and no software to tweak them.

Thanks for your reply deuchbah..so using the globalsat is better for you? I found one on ebay for 50quid so i may buy one of those. However i am unsure if this is goin to help my bluetooth issues? So before u had updated your firmware how were your bluetooth connections? i am very stuck..i dont want to change my reciever and have the same problem! oh dear this is a toughie..

as far as i know, P990 does not have any bluetooth issues. even with the 2nd last firmware, it always worked with my PC flawlessly. I couldnt test Globalsal 359 with P990 with old firmware as I had updated my phone b4 buying the GPS device. I think you'll be fine with Globalsat 359.

The thing is... MTK (i-blue 737) chipset seems to be much better than SirfIII (Globalsat 359), but since MTK devices keeps having dropouts with P990, its no use to us. I recommened the 359. Its beautiful, and works well enough (especially for pedestrian use).

i will be sending back my i blue 737 as soon as I can. I have found a Globalsat 359 on ebay for 50quid buy it now so will be purchasing that then..lets hope that works better. Yes it does look quite cool! I have a feeling it wont work with my stupid bluetooth but its worth a shot! Well i will be using it in the car so pederstarian use is not a big issue for me..i will let you know how things fair for me.

I read a soluce to have trafic info without pay. When you install TT6, you have 30 days without pay. To keep then after then 30 eme days, then soluce is, you uninstall TT6, and you make a new mail for TT plus, but you must reset you memory card, and your P990i, it's no good.
when you have uninstalled TT6, if you haven't reset your phone and your memory card,it keeps info of TT plus, your adress mail, it's for that, you must reset your phone and your memory card.
I think, the soluce, it's to kill some folders via SMP, but witch forlders?
Someone, say witch folders kill without make a reset of memory card and of the phone.

After you generate the key,copy the mid. file that you put in c:drive and paste it back in your memory stick it will say the file already exits do you want to replace ,press yes.then it will accept the activation key.

Hello. I'll want tou know if you'll have a soluce to keep traffic info free after the month of test. My soluce, to remove all on the memory stick don't work. It's impossible to activate tomtom plus on tomtom.com. It say, the month test it's finish. Have you a soluce for me...Thank you by advance...:)

After upgrading the firmware on my non-branded P990, TomTom 6.02 failed to connect to the GPS unit even though the phone was connected to it. I therefore decided to upgrade to 6.021 and copied the link from the post by lxcivic4life. I uninstalled, formatted and copied just as all of the previous posts have indicated, but TomTom will not now install on the phone. I even tried the previous version, but as others have mentioned, the only way to kick off the install is manually, and then it just fills up the progress bar immediately without actually installing anything. The files from the zip are definitely in the root of the memory stick. There must be something fundamental that I am missing. Any ideas?

first put the mid.file from your us map to the keygen file in your c:drive then generate the key using your device id then follow as i stated earlier,this is how i did and worked fine ...thnks

Thanks for listening.try to format from memory stick from your phone,not from the memorycard reader,to do this go to control panel -other-then format memory stick.after formating name it.
Copy tomtom mobile uiq version 6.21 to your memory card first without the map.after you put the memory stick in your phone it will automatically ask you to install tomtom just follow the instruction,after that it will tell you there is no map don't worry.
close tomtom
go to file manager,look in the memory folder you will see a file name ttnavigator,open it then you will find DeviceUniqueID=all capital letters thats your code id.
now copy the map in your memory card.and follow the above procedure as you wrote.
1)make a folder in C:\ to make it easier, name it keygen.
2)Put your .mid file in there and the TT6_kg_4_C4Pda.exe in there.
3)Now open command prompt "Start-Programs-Accessories-command prompt
4)Then type as follows cd (space) C:\ (Press Enter)
5)now you will have C:\> in command prompt.
6)Then type: cd (space) keygen (Press Enter) You will then see c:\keygen>
7) Then type : TT6_kg_4_C4Pda.exe (space) Guam.mid (Press Enter).
8)then put in your code ID: (CAPS ON) and then (Press Enter).
9) you get your activation code.

then when you open tomtom you it will ask you for the activation code put the code which you generate.

then off you go....

Hello, you've not no reply for keep trafic info after the month of test...:(

i have read somewhere that you can run tomtom in landscape mode in your (sonyericsson p990i) so you can see more of the map by:
as follows:
run tomtom then quit so it will stay in task manager
then open quickoffice or document to go then change the view of the document to landscape mode,now on the top right hand corner tab the icon and choose task manager to open tomtom and the tomtom will also start in landscape mode.
the only problem i am faceing is i when i choose the task manager in landscape mode from the quick office or document to go it says (not supported)

Some map has to be put inside the tomtom folder rather than the root of the memory,

There are no Asia maps for TomTom yet. You are using the wrong GPS software. MapKing is coming soon with UIQ3 version.
