Anything is good to use for programming starting assembler and ending c++, delphi, visual basic. As for communciation most of the phones use rs232 interfacing. Theres plenty of info about this. Also knowing ARM7 is a must combined with medium reversing skills (NOTE: we supose IDA, WinHex, GNU are not crypto words :D ).Also u need lot of luck ability to assimilate fast and all :rolleyes: Aswell having HIGH electronic knowledge is a boost up.

what exactly you after?

If you want to develope firmware for phone you got to study embeded programming. if you allready into this area, buy an LPC2106 development board and a cheap jtag.

If you want to develope tools for phones you just learn about data communications. if you already into this, all you need is get a good data logger.

RS 232 protokol is good for beginning...
After that you must choose a phone model and his platform (arm ...etc) ...
About the money .... i don't know .... but .... you will need some tools ...
Search the INTERNET and read this forum much more . You will find interesting things about gsm programming ....

My intention is to do a step to make a section here in this forum,dedicated especialy to gsm programing learning. many people here are curious about this,just a glance over the hedge even if they have to pay for this. Well let's begin a paying gsm programing section where "real" programers come and give "light" courses and talk about their old exploits "only the old ones" we know that there's no way to talk about the new and actual ones,and we know that they may have no time but i guess it's a way to make the cheaters away.........what do you think about this?

because "GSM forum"!="development forum" or "programming forum"

this section of the forum is specifically for GSM_sw but if U need 2start (and I think U need) : first study language, struct, syntax, namespace,object, var, pointer, ... and only after U can post here about...this is!

First and formost you need to learn the basics of anologe and digital electronics and know the differance between the two in relation to the transistor and GSM basics all this can be found at http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=280034

Eventually as you study digital electronics and high level programming (C++, delphy or pascal) you will be ready to go to assembly language which is a low level language that is specific to the type of processor you want to programm for. When learn aboul assembly that is where you begin to understand the relationship between the hardware and software. At that point you are ready to become a gsm hacker as has been mentioned you use ida pro to rurn the binery code into assembly code. From that code you need to find the intended alogrithm of the programmer. In addition you must think logically, have time and patiantce. That way you will not become diissapointed and turn into a bitter hacker who spams people with unsoliceted mail and slags off respectable companies. Wander who I could be talking about.

now i'm learning c++ language, really it seem dificult for me, i don't know if the only way for learn programing is guessing, because my teacher and not only him but my matlab teacher always want that we guess.....:(
