View Full Version : Serial Com port to Nokia Pop Port Cable (for BB5 unlock) - Tested

I had problems with BB5 unlock with DKU-5 cable, so i found this com cable and made it...and it works 100%

best of all...no drivers needed, just a PC/Laptop with a COM port!! (and some soldering skills)

p.s. i recommend using a DIL chip holder for the MAX232 chip to prevent damage to it!
Note: double check the orientation of the Capacitors and make sure they are rated at 16V or higher.

lol - Good luck with your exams! I've got an FBUS cable but for some reason it is not working with N70, but works with 7250 lol

thanks for the strip board version man

one question... i have a CA-53 here, but i don't wanna cut it for the connector, can i use a USB female as output of the circuit and use ca-53 without cutting down it? it seems be pin-to-pin cable.

Thanks

first: DON'T cut up you CA-53 cable!!! that's not gonna help you!!!

For the pop port side of the cable, i actually took it from a basic serial cable ( just has wires, no circuit) which i has bought years back, and de-soldered the connectors from that...they are on ebay for a few quid, i'd just recommend getting one one of them, and building from that.

NOTE: you will still have to buy the D-Sub 9 connector cus usually the connector on the cheap cables off ebay only have 3 wires with molded plastic around the connector, so u can't really use that!

Good luck

There are 2 kinds of dku5 cable in the market.
1 with complete pins the others seems like 5/6 only.
the first 1 works and tested it by myself.
we all use it on all of our 5 shops.

yes just make make necessary connections rx tx and gnd. if not work just reverse rx and tx connections... and that will do...

My cable only has 3 wires... I hope this one can still be used or will I have to reverse the Tx and Rx connectors? Also, is there any need to modify from the COM port end?

Ok, thanks for replies...

one question, why you cut the center lead of the transistor?

I made it this afternoon, but it don´t work, tomorrow i will test it again. What programa did you use to make the schematics?

Thanks!

ok, i fixed it, i forget make the bridges between capacitors and leads 16 and 15.

Works like charm! much better than the ca42 cable

i did it manually!!

the first circuit schematic is just a re-edit of the original (which didn't look as nice and less clear in my view!)

the strip board scematics, i originally made another circuit about a year ago in a desktop publishing program called pageplus (VERY VERY GOOD PROG!) and just edited it for this circuit! took about 1.5-2 hours though :S

p.s. i recommend using a DIL chip holder for the MAX232 chip to prevent damage to it!

Enjoy!

I have tested this schematic with 6630.
Yes this works 100%:)
I didn't use 7805 voltage regulator and 2 IN4148 diodes.
Instead of used 5V from the power supply of the PC.
Short circuited 4-6 pins together and 7-8 pins together of the D-sub socket.
MAX232ACPE IC was used.
Thanx LAD.

Yes, I always use this "pure" TTL-serial connection without drivers

Perfect with a power supply and 78L05 regulator.

I tried to use this circuit to unlock nokia 6085 and it doesn't work at all. I have data cable CA-53 and the pinout is the same to dku-2 (http://pinouts.ru/CellularPhonesCables/nokia_dku2_cable_pinout.shtml). Is there the possibility that the cellphone 6085 don't have FBUS support?? (http://pinouts.ru/CellularPhones-Nokia/nokia_pop_pinout.shtml)

Anyone, please, give me some clue to unlock nokia 6085.

thanks in advance.
