Apple has released iPhone SDK Beta 8 along with a special pre-release version of iTunes 7.7 which is necessary to load the iPhone 2.0 firmware on the 3G iPhone itself. This also suggests that Apple may soon allow third-party software and the App Store to be tested.
The SDK release is focused on bug fixes rather than introducing new features.
You can download the new SDK Beta 8 through the iPhone Dev Center.
iTunes 7.7 features:
- Use MobileMe to have push email, push calendars, push contacts, and bookmarks delivered over the air to your iPhone.
- Sync all or selected applications

The following is taken from the iTunes 7.7 release notes:
Use iTunes 7.7 to sync music, video, and more with iPhone 3G, and download applications from the iTunes Store exclusively designed for iPhone and iPod touch with software version 2.0 or later. Also use the new Remote application for iPhone or iPod touch to control iTunes playback from anywhere in your home -- a free download from the App Store.
[Update] iPhone 2.0 Firmware 5A345 has also been released!:)
