IOS7.x both iphone and ipad work if phone is disabled, and the adaptor for IOS 8.0 / 8.1 was to prevent phone form entering disabled state.

Please note it.

Hello your situation is very similar to ours when we first tested IOS8 disabled devices ( was also an IPAD ).

If you have previously synched this iPad with your computer, simply perform a restore from your that backup and everything should be fine, but if you do not have a backup, then keep reading.

What we did to fix IOS8 disabled was like this:
  1. Restart IPAd into recovery mode using hardware buttons:
    1. Press and hold down the On/Off button for 10 seconds to power off,
    2. Press and hold down the Home button on your iPad,
    3. Plug your iPad into your Mac or Windows PC and make sure iTunes is running,
    4. Release the Home button when you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
  2. Download correct IPSW file containing lower IOS version you can get from apple for your device ( careful about iPad model ),
  3. Using itunes, we did 'restore' not software update on iOS 8.1 IPSW file ( press alt so iTunes ask you to select a file on your hard drive and not download from internet )
  4. at random intervals during the restore, we unplug the cable and make the restore fail,
  5. Restart phone again in recovery and perform full restore, with a bit of luck will start like a new device.

We had to this quite a few times until we got it right, but we did recover that device and we hope you will be able to do so also.

Hello, I talked with my partner as he was with me when we played with our IOS8 test ipad, and he remembered me that we used DFU MODE and not recovery mode. Basically put ipad into DFU mode, perform restore from a downloaded IPSW file and at random interval unplug the cable and fail the process. We did it 3 times and our ipad got out of disabled state after 3 failed restores and a complete one.

For your convenience here is how to put IOS device into DFU mode:
  1. Make sure device is connected by USB to computer, and ITune is running,
  2. Press power for about 3 seconds, and then slide to the right to power off the device,
  3. Wait to make sure device is really off,
  4. Press and hold together Home + Power,
  5. Count slowly to 10(10 seconds) release Power and keep holding home,
  6. Keep holding home, iTune should inform you that have detected a device in DFU mode,
  7. Now you are in DFU and can start the restore process.

Best regards,
HDB Team

EDIT: To make something very clear about "remove the cable at random interval intervals" you should only remove the cable while iTunes is showing you "Restoring iPad software" and NOT before or after that stage.

Also, first try a full restore from DFU mode and only ifiPad is still disabled after that complete restore from DFU mode, then perform two more restores and fail them at about 10% and 90% during "Restoring iPad software" phase. After those two failed atempts do a complete restore again and iPad should be like a brand new one. Best of luck!

Hello,

Like i said, we used DFU restore method to kick our IOS8 device out of disabled state. Restoring from DFU and stoping the process at random times will wipe your user lock on that iPad and also remove disabled mode.

It worked for us, but we had to perform a couple of DFU restores to get it out of disabled state.

Hoping you will find the right moment and recover your IOS8 device,
