Bravo!! You are a very detailed man!

No matter 6 digits or 4 digits,the logic is the same. So if it could work on 4 digits (iOS7.*). Then it could work on 6 digits (iOS7.*) also. Just when we launched, there was only 4 digit password for iOS7.* that moment. We will upgrade it.
