I saw similar problem in this forum, i believe the issue was taptic engine and for other guy it was button itself. So need diagnostics to check if that button work on other device, if not then button is damaged.

Re: fix home button

You could use AssitiveTouch, it is convenient.

I have a device with the same problem, I made the exchange of the taptic engine and it did not solve. Apparently the button is not damaged, does any have any solutions?

guys stop telling this poster nonsense, he obviously knows that dirty fingers won't get recognized (I have more luck, even finger covered in dirt will register push, not touch id tho). lets figure it out, get another home button, any 8 plus home button will do, just install new one, check if it works, then check taptic engine, and connections to mother board, after that let us know more.
