How to use AT&T’s Online Chat to Unlock Off-Contract iPhone?

Here’s how to unlock your off-contract iPhone. You can either head to the AT&T store and wait in line, or you can simply follow this step by step guide provided in order to activate it via internet from your PC. However, their servers may be overloaded, if that happens you will need to wait to unlock your iPhone. It would likely take about ten to twenty minutes to unlock your iPhone.

You will need to be aware that this is an IMEI unlock method which means that you won’t be required to restore your iPhone, so your iOS updates are safe. How to use Online Chat to unlock your AT&T iPhone?

  • First, you will need to have the IMEI number of your iPhone. IMEI no. can be found on the box, or on your iPhone by going to Settings> General > about and scroll down untill you find the no.
  • Login using your credentials to AT&T’s chat support page.
  • Once that you have entered the page, click on the “Chat Now” which is next to the “Technical Support”
  • Complete the chat form, and at the last question “How we may assist you?” Write down “I want to unlock my iPhone”. And then Click on “Start Chat”, you will have to wait for a chat representative to respond.
  • In the chat you will be asked to give information about your iPhone. You will also be asked to provide your IMEI number which was acquired in the first step.
  • After checking the eligibility of your device for unlock, the representative will ask for your Email address.
  • You will receive an Email with the details for Unlock procedure in about a week or more to fulfill the unlock process.
