Would I be cheating ?

I have customers who bring phones to me to be unlocked. but sometimes the phones were never locked. the customer assumes that automatically they would be locked. the odd one (batch) now and then slips through. If I test and find that it is not locked, should I still charge the customer for the service ?.

I currently charge for unlocking, one a customer gives me a phone to be unlocked . I return it to them unlocked (regardless of previous state). Is this cheating

cheating or not cheating, that's the questions!
but if customers don't know anything about mobile phones and want to unlock one phone that is not locked, ignorance is expensive sometimes.on the other side I spend time with that person and that phone so maybe I charge customer for that.in the end like taopheek
say follow ur heart

yeah...but if 1 out of 10 phones is never locked, and you say it was never locked. they may tell thier friends and all will assume thier phones were never locked too. that is a concern for me, and some other customers will think you cheated them.

yeah..how I found out, is by using the nokia code calculator and getting "code error" , I know it is good code, so then I check and found out that the phones wasn't lock. and it applied to a certain batch from a certain provider...so when another phone comes I know it probably isn't locked.

Also the LG C1400 from Cingular never seems to be locked.

( I also learned the hard way..I bought the Nokia calculator for $20 when I just started, when it was free all over on the net. I also see sites selling free software...is that cheating too ?)

selling free software is not very honest, but they can charge for suppor :P if it is good. if you had work calculating code and inserting into the phone why not to charge??? why are u cheating??? u did the job! if the person gives u a unlocked phone it is because is to lazy for trying another sim card and see if it is or whether is it not

One day a customer approached a repair shop to get his watch fixed.

....the technician saw the watch and knowing what to do gave three ****s thru a small hole. Suddenly the watch started to function perfectly. The customer was happy to see that his watch was fixed so fast and without changing any parts so he thought he wouldn't be charged. Then he asked " How much for repairing my watch".

That will be $30 sir" the technician added....

WHAT 30$ FOR ****ING THE WATCH" the customer cried out. And the technician finally added " Well why didnt you blew it yourself "...

True story...

If customer says unlock we just unlock dont check, If the phone is already unlocked (some soft read locks before unlock) we check to see if the handset is barred they may have the wrong meaning of unlocking, we always specify that unlocking will only allow you to insert different network provider sim card.

So if already unlocked check to see if handset is blocked!!
