Alltel 700p on Sprint Network

Ok so here is my question/s:

I have an Alltel branded Treo 700P and i want to put it on my sprint account. i called sprint and they said the esn was fine on their network, but i didnt tell them it was still attached to an Alltel account. Does that matter will it still add to sprint. My sister in law had an Alltel account and didnt pay it thats where the phone came from, she says i can do what ever i want with it. Any idea do i need to change the esn or is that only for adding it to the same network? From what i gather since its a different network they wont be able to tell.

Next how do I flash the Rom to the sprint software and should i even do that or just use it the way it is, and is that even possible, with data of course. I have been searching on this subject for like 3 days and i'm at a loss on these questions cant seem to find the answers anywhere. I have found a website that says for 30.00 bucks they will have it working exactly like the Sprint 700P data and all, but i would like to do it myself if possible
